An Interesting Discovery

Quick AN: Please read the author's note at the end, thanks!

Mario was heading into the guild hall to see the guildmasters when he caught a familiar scent. His eyes widened. He knew that scent. He would never forget the scent of his jailer. But she was supposed to be dead?

Carefully, he walked until he could find where exactly the scent was coming from. He turned several corners before realizing the scent was coming from their basement. He quickly snuck down the steps but he didn't see anyone still. Then he looked around the corner and his eyes widened.

All of the guildmasters were in one place at the same time. Including the one who wasn't supposed to be alive. But how the heck was she alive? They were talking too quietly for even his dragon senses to hear but that wasn't quite Mario's concern. He was just wondering how the heck she was alive.

Suddenly a small bolt of lightning came flying past him and he yelped instinctfully. Oh great.

"Mario, you can come out now." He heard Brandon say and he sighed before stepping to where they could see him, sweating slightly when all five guild masters looked at him.

"Why exactly were you spying on us?" Ritchie asked as he raised an eyebrow.

Mario sighed before saying. "Look I was heading to your office to report from my latest mission when I caught her scent, which is not something I would easily be able to forget, and as I was wondering how the heck she was alive, I came to check it out."

The guild masters sighed collectively.

"We probably should've taken into account a dragon slayer's scenting capabilities when making this plan." Michael was the first to comment.

"Especially since most of our guild have at least one dragon slayer." Bri or "Dream" added.

"Listen, Mario, you can't tell anyone about this." Ritchie told the dragon slayer sternly. "There's an important reason that Bri faked her death and she needs to stay hidden for a while longer."

"If that's the case, then I'll keep my mouth shut." Ritchie was one of his guildmasters and he trusted the lightning mage. If he said it was important, then it was. On the other hand. "You may not want to meet here though. I wasn't even in the main guild hall and I smelled her. And if there's anyone who would recognize her scent, it would be me or Bryan."

"I mean we only knew each other for a couple weeks at most..." Bri pointed out.

"Most dragon slayers make sure to scent any group they're part of. Its our way of making sure that we don't accidentally kill anyone if we go into Dragon rage." Mario told her.

"Dragon rage?" Silver asked.

"Its an uncontrollable version of dragon force that is based on the anger that a dragon slayer is feeling at the moment. Not like what Colin was doing, I don't know what that other form he has was but that wasn't dragon rage." Mario explained quickly before adding. "Dragon slayers, however, won't attack someone they've scented in dragon rage mode so its a protective measure that's instinctual. Even if Bryan didn't know about it, he would've done it."

"Ok then, why do you know my scent?" Bri had to ask.

"You put me in prison, you think I'm not gonna memorize potential threats?" Mario had to ask and the guildmasters had to admit, he had a point.

"Fine, from now on we should probably hold meetings at your place, Dream." Michael said in a way that made Mario think that Bri's place had to be more than just her house or where she was staying.

"Yes, we probably should." Bri agreed.

The guild leaders then shooed Mario away so that they could finish their conversation. But not before Brandon and Ritchie warned Mario that they would be talking more about this later due to his 'spying'. Even if it was unintentional.

AN: Ok so let's talk for a bit. You guys wouldn't know this but when I originally started FTO Mario Oneshots, I had already written several of the oneshots beforehand so that I could just post when I liked and write ahead in my oneshot book. I did this so that I could afford to have a chapter or two out for you guys every day. Now I've gotten behind schedule due to writing some oneshots that I don't really like and a lack of ideas. So for the next few days, there won't be any new oneshots coming out for this book so that I can work on new ones as well as get my schoolwork done. I promise you guys that I have no intention of ending the book, I'm just going to be taking 3-4 days off to write more for it as I've also been super busy with my new Daycare kids in Fairytail Origins book. If you guys have any suggestions for what you might like to see, then just comment them down below or send me a message. Thank you for your time.
