Chapter One
(Leaving out the ice cutters scene, sorry)
Aaron's head popped up. "Elsen. Psst!"
The little ginger haired prince climbed up onto his older brother's bed and started shaking and bouncing on him.
"Elsen! Wake up, wake up, wake up!"
Elsen groaned sleepily. "Aaron, go back to sleep."
Aaron flopped onto his brother. "I just can't! The sky's awake! So I'm awake! So I have to play!"
Elsen pushed his brother off. "Go play by yourself!"
Aaron landed on the floor and pouted. He climbed back on his brother and opened his eyelid.
"Do you wanna build a snowman?"
Elsen smirked at his little brother.
=============================================================
Aaron pulled Elsen down the stairs. "C'mon!"
Elsen shushed his brother, but followed excitedly. The two boys ran into the great hall, laughing. Elsen shut the door behind them just before Aaron pulled him to the middle of the room.
"Do the magic, do the magic!" Aaron giggled.
Elsen smiled. He started to wave his hands in a circular motion. Blue and white sparkles appeared between his fingers. Aaron oohed at the sight. A snowball appeared amid the sparks.
"Ready?" asked Elsen.
Aaron nodded. "Uh huh!"
Elsen threw his hands into the air, sending the snowball into the sky. It exploded, starting a light snowfall.
Aaron laughed. "This is amazing!"
He ran around Elsen for a few second before Elsen stopped him again.
"Watch this!"
He stamped his foot. Ice spread out from the point his foot touched the ground, turning the floor into an ice rink. Aaron started sliding around the hall like crazy.
The two brothers started having all the fun in the world: building snowmen, (or trying to) making up a snowmaid called Olga ("And I like warm hugs!") ice-skating, sliding down snow mounds, and all manner of snow fun.
Aaron started jumping onto snow mounds. Elsen created them as he went. The more Aaron jumped, the bigger the snow mounds got. He started jumping too fast for Elsen to keep up and Elsen slipped, accidentally releasing a bit of his power.
That bit of power hit Aaron in the head and knocked him out.
Elsen gasped and dashed over to his little brother. He put his head in his lap and said his name softly. As he watched, a streak of Aaron's hair turned from ginger to white.
Elsen started crying. "Mama! Papa!"
Elsen cried harder. The ice beneath him started thickening and spreading to higher areas, like the pillars and even the roof. The snowmaid they called Olga fell into pieces.
Elsen wiped his tears away. "You'll be OK, Aaron! I got you..."
The doors flew open and the king and queen of Arendelle came rushing in.
The king said, "Elsen, what have you done?! This is getting out of hand!"
They came dashing over to their sons. Elsen blinked a few times.
"It was an accident! I'm sorry, Aaron..."
The queen took him out of Elsen's arms and into her own. She gasped when his bare skin touched her.
"He's ice cold!"
The king frowned. "I know where we have to go."
=================================================
Almost seconds later, they took two horses and rode the boys out of the kingdom. Elsen's powers created a frozen trail as they went. They rode deep into the mountains, into a forest clearing filled with rocks.
They all dismounted. The king called out, "Please, help! It's my son!"
The rocks started rolling down, surrounding the family. They all drew in close, but relaxed when the rocks unrolled into trolls. A whisper went up among them.
An older troll, the oldest of them all, went up to them and bowed. "Your majesty." He took Elsen's small hand in his. "Born with the powers or cursed?"
"Uh, born. And they're getting stronger!"
Grand Pabbi gestured to the queen. She kneeled and held Aaron out. Pabbi felt his forehead.
"You are lucky it wasn't his heart. The heart is not so easily changed. But the head can be persuaded."
"Do what you must."
"I recommend we remove all magic. Even memories of magic, to be safe. But don't worry, I leave the fun."
As he said this, Pabbi changed Aaron's memories of Elsen's magic and put them back. Pabbi sighed happily.
"He will be ok."
"But he won't remember I have powers?" Elsen asked timidly.
"It's for the best," the king told his son.
"Listen to me, Elsen. Your power will only grow. There is beauty in it. But also great danger. You must learn to control it. Fear will be your enemy."
Pabbi showed them what could happen if Elsen didn't control his powers. The fright of it was too much for Elsen and he had to look away.
"We'll protect him," the king assured Pabbi. "He can learn to control it, I'm sure. Til then, we'll lock the gates. Reduce the staff. We'll limit his contact with people, and keep his powers hidden from everyone. Including Aaron."
