Chapter 5
That evening we sat at the table and ate some pizza that we had ordered.
"So... Toby. Should I like... get a job or something? Where do you think I should work?"
He looks up from his slice of pizza and meets my eyes. "You sho-uld be fi-ne for the rest of t-the month. Slender-r will give you some money tom-orrow morning because you're n-new."
"Oh," I say before taking another bite. "But still... I should find a job."
Toby fidgets with the fork he had been using for some of the salad. "That depend-ds on if-f Slendy wants to g-give you a job or not. I-If not you'll just f-find somewhere to work-k. I-If he does well you'll-l do as you're told I g-guess."
"O...kay?"
He looks reluctant to say something and sighs. "Y-you do know wha-t we do, r-right?"
I had a hunch, but play dumb and shrug.
He pushes a bit of lettuce around on his plate while trying to figure out how to put his words.
"Well... we kill people, so there's one thing."
"Yeah, I thought so."
He looks up at me in surprise. "W-what?"
I laugh a bit. "Well who hasn't heard at least something about Creepypasta--" his breath hitches in worry, --"though I've only really read about Jeff the Killer and Slenderman." He lets out the breath of relief.
"Well, you might have to t-too..."
"O-oh.. Eh... I'm... I'll deal with that when the time comes..."
~Time skip~
When we got to Toby's house, he led me upstairs and down a hallway to the left. He showed me my room, and left me to get settled.
The room was clean and obviously unused, but it looked comfy. Directly across the room there was a large window covered in black curtains. To the right of the room there was a king-sized bed with a (f/c) comforter. A rug of the same color sat in the middle of the room. There was a TV across from the bed, with some gray beanbags sitting in front of it. A couch was sitting against the wall to the left of the bed. There were bedside tables to either side of the bed. One had a black reading lamp sitting on top of it.
On the farthest part of the wall with the TV on it there was a white door that led to a large bathroom. The bathroom was mainly white, making it almost look like a hotel's bathroom. I figure I should get some colored towels and a mat for the floor later on. The bathtub/shower had those glass doors that were morphed to make the person inside too blurry to see. There was a bar for a towel on the sliding door of the tub. Next to it sat the clean white toilet, and then the sink. The cabinet under the sink, and the medicine cabinet were both empty. Oddly enough, there wasn't a mirror here either. Why haven't I seen one damn mirror in this place?
After looking around my fairly empty room, I borrowed some toiletries from Toby and took a shower. He lent me a clean grey T-shirt, and a pair of sweatpants. I'm going to have to shop tomorrow after I get some money.
I bid Toby goodnight and walked back to my own room, shutting the door behind me. I leaped into my bed, which was softer than any bed I had ever lied in before. It felt like a cloud. It didn't take long for me to fall asleep.
The next morning, I got ready for the day, borrowing more clothes from Toby. He said he had a friend that could help me shop because he had to go to work. We ate breakfast, and he went on his way.
Half an hour later, the doorbell rang. I opened the door and a small girl with curly brown hair stared up at me with a smile. Her emerald green eyes almost glowed with her smile.
"Hi! I'm Sally! I'm here to take you shopping!!!" She practically radiated with friendliness.
"Oh, you must be the friend Toby talked about, right?"
"Yup!! Let's go, (Y/N)!!!" I chuckled at her excitedness. It was adorable.
I locked the house door behind me and we went on our way. She handed me the money Slender had given her to deliver to me, and informed me that it was my allowance for clothes and any hygiene stuff that I needed. I also got some stuff for my room.
We went for all of my necessary clothing items first, and then my toiletries. She then took me to some more fun shops and showed me clothes that she thought would suit me. I ended up with probably two weeks of clothing, quite a but of different soaps/lotions/any other toiletries I wanted, and some other hygiene products.
I got home with some extra time and said goodbye to Sally. I hope that I get to spend some more time with her soon. She is so happy and nice to be around.
I put all of my stuff away and made my room a bit more comfortable. After being bored for a while, I dusted and cleaned some other parts of the house. It was only around 5:30pm by the time I was done, and I was still bored. I reorganized the fridge and pantry, cleaned the clothes I had borrowed and the ones I wore when I first came to the house before eventually powering his X-Box on and playing random games.
It was 7:30pm when Toby opened the door, looking more exhausted than a college student who stayed up studying for finals all night. He forced himself up the stairs and to his room before coming back down in fox themed pajamas. He collapsed on the couch next to me.
"Hey Toby, you alright?"
"I wa-anna fu-cking sleep f-for ev-ver."
"Rough day?" He only nodded in response. "Hold on, I got you," I said before going into the kitchen and getting him some hot chocolate. I brought two cups back and handed one to him. He smiled a lazy but grateful smile and took a sip. We watched Disney movies until we both passed out.
