Chapter 2
As I came into consciousness, I heard talking, but I couldn't understand what was being said. I opened my eyes and saw three fuzzy figures standing across the room from my bed. As things came into focus I saw that I was in a white hospital room and connected to a few machines. I didn't know what I was connected to.
I made a noise as I tried to sit up, alerting the people to my consciousness. A man in a dark blue mask walked over to my bad and gently set his hand on my shoulder to tell me to lay back down. I hardly had any strength in my body, so I didn't fight it and slumped back into my bed. Another man walked over as well. He was very tall, and was dressed in a nice black and white suit tailored to his body. It took me a moment to realize that he had no face, and I began to freak out. The heart beat monitor's beeps sped up before the blue masked man injected me with something.
When I woke up (again) only the blue masked man was in the room. He was spinning around in a swivel chair until he noticed that I was awake. He stopped with a quick "ahem" and moved over to my bed.
He told me that I had hypothermia and frost bite, and I had been out for a few days. The blisters and other wounds had healed for the most part, but it'd be awhile before my hands and feet looked normal. It would be painful to wear shoes or pick things up for a while, but I'd be okay in a few days. I said thank you, and he sent me on my way.
When I left the small clinic I was met with the pink haired woman's smiling face.
"Hi!!! I'm glad you're okay! You scared me back there at my shop! Anyways, I got some clothes that you can use so that you don't have to wear that hospital gown anymore!" Her voice is pretty high pitched, and she's far more excited than she was when I first met her. How long had I been out, anyways?
I walked back into the clinic and into one of the restrooms to change. I had to fix my hair by feel due to the bathroom having no mirror. She had given me a pair of loose gray sweatpants and a black shirt that was a bit too large. I had a pair of thick gray socks that I wore as well, but no shoes. It was clear that I had frostbite due to the painful blisters, but I put the socks on anyways. Though the sky was clear, there was still a few feet of snow on the floor outside. This was going to suck.
When I got outside the woman was still waiting.
"Oh, by the way! My name is Pinkemena, but you can just call me Pink. Anyways, I have to take you to my boss."
"Boss? You work at a bakery, don't you?"
"No, I own my bakery. My boss is like the boss of our town, you know? You'll get it soon."
I was confused, but I didn't say anything. I sounded dense as it is, which I probably was.
People hurried around the streets, likely busy. They were strange though. There were hardly any children around, and most of the people seemed to be teenagers or young adults. There were no elderly people at all, and most of the people didn't even look human. Some of them were so tall that they could be twice my size. I did my best not to stare at anyone though.
She led me through the people to a large black building that looked somewhat like a government building. We walked inside and talked to a lady sitting at the front desk and Pink told her we had an appointment. She nodded and said we could go ahead.
Pink led me to a very, very tall door and knocked. We heard a deep voice say "come in", before the large doors began to open.
There was a desk that was almost ridiculously tall, but that was maybe the most normal looking thing in the room. The strangest thing here was the tall faceless man sitting at the desk. I recognized him as Slenderman from the urban legends. I never thought he was real though...
Once again I felt my heart pounding in my chest as I stared into the place where his eyes would be, and my ears began to ring. I was brought out of it when a hand was placed on my shoulder. I looked to who it belonged to and saw a man with orange goggles and a striped mask that covered his mouth. His brown hair covered his forehead and framed his goggles. It looked as if he smiled when he said "hi!" in a happy tone. I didn't know what it was, but right away I felt as if I could trust him.
I smiled back and said, "hello, I'm (Y/N)!"
