017, please go away
FROZEN HEART ━━ 017
( PLEASE GO AWAY )
TO HELP HER EASE HER MIND, Ellie invited Marisa over to watch some movies with her and Kaia. She told them what happened with Lonnie and Chad and they also rolled their eyes at how absurd it was.
"That's Chad Charming for you," Kaia said while sinking deeper into her beanbag chair.
"If I'm being one hundred percent honest with you, it doesn't really surprise me that he would act this way. Remember when he insulted you and your mother on Family Day?" Marisa asked and the blonde groaned loudly.
"Please don't remind me. If Carlos wasn't there to stop me I would've given Chad frostbite without even blinking," she said as she focused on the movie.
"Speaking of Carlos, how is he?" Kaia questioned as she sat up straight and looked at Ellie.
"He's doing great. He's on the fencing team and as you can see from last year, he's way over his fear of dogs," Ellie said with a wide smile.
It was amazing how he used to be so terrified of the furry little creatures but after spending so much time with Dude, they've become best friends and now the dog goes wherever Carlos goes.
"That little mutt follows him everywhere now," Marisa laughed. "It's quite adorable."
"What's adorable is how close you two have gotten in the past year," Kaia said with a smirk and a mischievous glint in her eyes as she looked at Ellie, whose cheeks were starting to turn pink.
"Don't be embarrassed. You're doing better than Ben and Mal," Marissa said and the brubette smacked her on the shoulder for being so blunt.
"What's going on with Ben and Mal?" Ellie asked as she paused the movie.
"Well, with everything going on with Cotillion coming up, things are a little stressful for both of them. Especially with Ben as King and Mal as a lady of the Court while they're still kids in high school," Marisa said and Ellie chewed on her bottom lip.
She never imagined how stressful it must've been to lead an entire kingdom. Her mother always did it so gracefully and made it seem like it was the best job in the world. Ben and Mal on the other hand were clearly struggling, especially Mal.
"Well, I hope that whatever problems they are struggling with, they'll be able to work them out," Ellie said before playing the movie. Suddenly, she heard a noise and paused the movie again. "Did you guys hear that?"
"Hear what?" Kaia asked.
"It was a voice. Neither of you guys heard it?" Ellie questioned while squinting at her friend.
"Sorry Ellie, but the only voice I hear is yours," Marisa said and took the remote and played the movie again.
Ellie listened carefully but all she could hear was the movie playing and her friends laughing. She could've swore she heard a voice just then but her Kaia and Marisa clearly didn't hear it. Was she going crazy? How come she never heard this voice before? Why was she only hearing it now? All these thoughts kept her distracted from the movie but she eventually fell asleep at the foot of her bed. The others fell asleep as well and it soon got dark and the only source of light was the main menu of the movie they were watching. Ellie felt a little hazy as she started to wake up and moved a little in her bed. She could hear the voice again and she simply mumbled incoherently while stuffing her face into her pillow. She heard the voice again and now she was more alert as she sat up and looked around. She was definitely hearing a voice.
"Shut up," she said as she covered her ears but the voice still persisted. She groaned in annoyance as she got out of bed and quietly left the room. Even once she was outside, the voice didn't go away. "I can hear you, but I won't. Some look for trouble while others don't. There's a thousand reasons I should go about my day and ignore your whispers, which I wish would go away."
She heard the voice again and repeated what she heard. All she got in return was another call and she rolled her eyes. "You're not a voice, you're just a ringing in my ear. And if I heard you, which I don't, I'm spoken for I fear. Everyone I've ever loved is here within these walls," Ellie thought about all her friends at Auradon Prep. She even thought about her family back in Arendelle. "I'm sorry, secret siren, but I'm blocking out your calls. I've had my adventure, I don't need something new. I'm afraid of what I'm risking if I follow you into the unknown! Into the unknown! Into the unknown!"
Ellie could feel the coldness of the night air on her skin as she heard the voice again. She could see the Isle of the Lost from the balcony and she sighed as she went downstairs and out of the building where all the dorms were. "What do you want? 'Cause you've been keeping me awake. Are you here to distract me so I make a big mistake? Or are you someone out there who's a little bit like me? Who knows deep down I'm not where I'm meant to be?" Even after being a student at Auradon Prep for over a year, Ellie still felt like she didn't belong there with everybody else. Most of the students there were born without magic and she clearly wasn't one of them. "Everyday's a little harder as I feel my power grow. Don't you know there's part of me that longs to go into the unknown? Into the unknown! Into the unknown!"
Ellie looked at her hands and the ice that came from her magic. A cloud of mist formed in front of her and she couldn't help but want to go inside of it. Her curiousity got the best of her, yet again, and she stepped into the mist. She saw images of bare trees and a visual of leaves blowing in the wind. "Oh-oh-oh! Are you out there? Do you know me? Can you feel me? Can you show me?" Ellie saw moving images of her mother and her aunt when they were kids, she saw Maleficent as a dragon breathing fire into the water below her and she saw green tentacles throwing water around. All the images became that small cloud of ice again and Ellie followed it out of the mist. "Where are you going? Don't leave me alone. How do I follow you into the unknown?"
When Ellie looked around, she realized that she was standing on a large patch of ice that she made herself. Even some of the seawater turned to ice. She looked over the raging waves of the ocean and she saw the Isle surrounded by darkness due to the grey cloud above it that never went away. She could hear the voice again and this time it was louder than when she heard it in her room when she was watching that movie with Kaia and Marisa. It sounded like the voice was coming from the Isle and it only made her more confused as she slightly tilted her head. The voice got louder and she backed away from the edge of the water.
"Please," she mumbled. "Please go away."
