Chapter 22

By the end of the day, Ayano was ready to leave school, but it seemed that some other students had different ideas, since when Uraraka opened the door, there was a crowd of them blocking the way out.

"What's going on?!" She asked.

"What business do you have with class A?" Iida asked.

"We can't get out!" Mineta exclaimed. "What'd you come here for anyways."

"Scouting out the enemy, idiot." Bakugo said, walking up to the door. "We're the ones who made it out of the villains attack. They probably want to check us out before the sports festival." He stopped in front of the kids crowding the doorway, "There's no point in doing stuff like that.out of my way, background characters."

"Stop calling people background characters just because you don't know them!" Iida exclaimed.

"I came to see what the famous Class A was like." A voice from the crowd said, and someone made their way to the from. "But you seem pretty arrogant. Are all the students in the hero course like this."

Around her, Ayano's class mates shook their heads, looking terrified.

"Seeing something like this makes me disillusioned. There are quite a few people who enrolled in general studies or other courses because they didn't make it into the hero course. Did you know that?" The boy who was talking had a tired look on his face, and bluish hair that seemed to rise up. "The school has left those of us a chance. Depending on the results of the sports festival, they'll consider our transfer into the hero course, and it seems that may also transfer people out." He looked over the class, "Scouting out the enemy? I, at least, came to say that even if you're in the hero course, ou get too carried away, I'll sweep your feet out from under you. I came with a declaration of war."

A declaration of war, huh? Ayano thought.

"Hey, Hey! I'm from Class B next door!" Someone else in the crowd exclaimed. "I heard you fought against villains, so I came to hear 'bout it! Don't get so full of yourselves! If you bark too much, it'll be embarrassing for you durin' the real fight!"

Ayano watched as Bakugou silently walked away, obviously ignoring the shouting boy.

"You ignorin' me, bastard?"

"Wait a minute Bakugo!" Kirishima exclaimed, running up and standing next to Ayano. "What're you gonna do about all this? It's your fault everyone's hating on us!"

"I'd have to agree with him, Bakaho." Ayano said with a nod.

Bakugo looked back at the two, "It doesn't matter." He responded, "It doesn't matter as long as you rise to the top."

That sounds like him. Ayano thought with a sigh, watching as he pushed his way through the crowd easily.

"That's so simple and manly." Kirishima said, clenching his fist with a tear in his eye.

Around her, the class was agreeing with what Bakugo had said, Ayano just sighed and walked out of the classroom through the crowd, feeling people's stares on her as she pushed through.

She finally arrived at her house, setting her backpack down on the couch with a sigh.

"Welcome home Honey!" Kisa exclaimed, walking up to Ayano and wrapping her arms around her. "How are you feeling?"

Ayano moved away from her mom with a smile, "I'm feeling fine."

"Are you sure? No pain in your chest? Ribs? Anywhere?"

Ayano chuckled. "I'm fine, mom. No pain anywhere."

"Are you sure?"

Ayano nodded, "Positive. Oh! The UA Sports Festival is coming up-"

"You're not going to enter it, are you?"

"Of course I am." Before her mom could say anything else, Ayano continued. "This is my chance to show what I can do, to be seen by Pros!"

"But Honey, we're Pros, and we recognize you!" Kisa exclaimed, motioning to her father who was sitting in the dining room reading.

"It's not the same. Mom, I promise I won't do anything too risky."

"I say let her do it." Ayano's father piped up from the dining room, not looking away from his book. "She seems determined, I believe in her."

Ayano looked at him, her eyes shining, "Thank you-" she started, only to watch him turn his head and look back at her.

"But if you do anything too extreme-"

"I get ya." Ayano said, smirking. "I'm going to go train."

"What about homework?"

"We didn't get any due to the festival!" Ayano responded, already on her way up the stairs to change.

"Well... Train safely!"

"I will!" Ayano exclaimed.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

It was soon the day of the Festival, and Ayano was stepping out of the train, she was running a bit late so she had to run the distance from the station to the school, luckily, the students had a back entrance that they could enter with the show of their ID.

After she had entered, Ayano slid her ID into her pocket and ran towards the changing rooms, hearing the chatter from the crowd around her.

Most of them were talking about how they would be watching class 1-A, or how good some of the food is, she could of sworn she heard Mt. Lady tricking a man to get free food.

After running through the hallways and changing into her gym uniform, Ayano finally made her way to her classes waiting room.

Stepping inside, she ran her hand through her hair. "Whew. Made it." She muttered, just as she sat down at one of the tables surrounded of the chattering class, Iida opened the door.

"Everyone's are you ready?" He asked, "We will be entering soon!"

"Midoriya." The calm voice of Todoroki made it's way to Ayano's ears, and she looked over to see him standing in front of the boy.

"Todoroki? What is it?" He asked.

The room had fallen silent, everyone watching what was going to happen.

"Looking at things objectively, I think I'm stronger than you." Todoroki said bluntly. "But... All Might has his eye on you, doesn't he? I'm not trying to pry about that. But I'm going to beat you."

"Oh? Is the best in the class making a declaration of war?" Kaminari asked.

"Hey, hey, hey! Why are you picking a fight all of a sudden?" Kirishima asked, walking up and placing a hand on Todorki's shoulder. "Not now, we're about to start!"

"We're not here to play at being friends." Todoroki responded, knocking Kirishima's hand off of his shoulder. "So what does it matter?" He turned and walked away, only to be stopped as Izuku stared to say something.

"Todoroki, I don't know what you're thinking when you say you'll beat me, but of course you're better than me. I think you're more capable than most people. Looking at it objectively."

"Midoriya, you probably shouldn't talk so negatively-" Kirishima started.

"But, everyone-- The students from the other courses are aiming for the top with everything they've got! I can't afford to fall behind." He looked up with determination in his eyes, "I'll be going for it with everything I have, too."

"Yeah." Todoroki responded.

What a speech. Ayano thought.

"Alright everyone! It's time we should get going!" Iida exclaimed, and Ayano stood up form her chair, following the rest of the class as she walked towards the stadium.

While they were waiting in the tunnel, Ayano heard Present Mic from the speakers, and the loud cheering of the crowd.

"It's time for the students to enter the first-year stage!"

Getting the cue, everyone in the class rushed through the tunnel, slowing down near the entrance so they could walk out.

The bright light hit Ayano's eye, and she blinked a couple times to get it adjusted, seeing the cheering crowd of people looking down at her class.

What a wonderful way to start a festival. Ayano thought with a smile.
