Frozen Fever

"Okay, okay. Here we go." Elsworth waved his hands around the cake to create a statue of Y/n, standing cutely by herself.

"So lonely." He went to change it to both of them in their coronation outfits with Y/n slightly behind him. He put his fingers near his head in concentration. "Stiff."

He tried one more time to him holding onto a frozen Y/n, sobbing. "I can't do that!" He sighed, focusing harshly on the ice figure in the center of the cake, turning it into them skating together. Come on, Elsworth, this is for Y/n. You can do this."

"Relax!" Kristoff dipped his giant mop-brush into the paint hanging from Sven's antlers. He began to paint the giant piece of paper sprawled across the courtyard while Anna held it in place. "It looks great!"

"I just want it to be perfect," he said, still fretting over it.

"Perfect?" Anna asked with emphasis, rolling her eyes. "You didn't even get her a ring!"

Way to remind him. His last gift was going to be an engagement ring, but nothing was good enough for her. He felt so bad about his disappointment that he told the jeweler that he would think it over and come back, rather than say what he really thought.

He would ask her first and get the ring later.

Kristoff climbed off the ladder while his girlfriend held it. "Speaking of perfect, check this out."

Happy Anniversary, Y/n

Elsworth looked up at it, giving a nervous sigh of a laugh. He walked over, wiping the paint from Kristoff's cheek and checking Anna's hands. She was always so messy in an endearing way. She had already managed to get it on the front of her dress.

"Kristoff, Anna, are you absolutely sure I can leave you in charge here?"

"Absolutely," Kristoff nodded confidently.

Anna gently pulled her hands away and waved one, stepping around her brother to take a better look at the sign. "C'mon, Elsworth, it's us. Me. Your sister whom you ever so much adore?" She held out her thumb to the banner and squinted, tilting it to get a better look.

"I know, I just don't want anything to happen to this courtyard." He wandered to a table to fix the flowers, sniffling. Absently, he wiped his nose on his sleeve.

"What could happen?" Kristoff asked, not at all concerned. "It's all set."

But Anna put her thumb down when she heard him sniffle, looking over at him in concern. "Elsworth, you feeling okay?"

"Olaf!" was the immediate answer, his head snapped up towards the table. "What are you doing?!"

Guilty, Olaf turned around, f/c frosting smeared on his mouth and stuck to his snow. "I'm not eating cake," he said with his mouth full.

"Olaf..."

"But it's a f/f cake!"

Bending over patiently, Elsworth added, "And it's fot Y/n."

"And it's for Y/n..." he repeated, defeated.

Once Elsworth had turned away, he spat out the now-balled cake and stuck it back into place.

The bells announced the time, making the king gasp. "Oh, it's time!"

"It's time!" Olaf cheerfully repeated, the cake now forgotten. But he added, confused, "For what?"

"Okay." Elsworth chuckled, backing towards the castle doors. "You sure you got this?"

"We're sure," Kristoff said confidently, not understanding what the big deal of an anniversary was. After all, it was also his and Anna's anniversary. But, since Elsworth had insisted - no, like, he gave an almost threatening lecture - that Kristoff do something, he had planned the night with Anna and she was content with a night in his wagon around Arendelle, singing silly songs on his lute.

Elsworth froze the fountains again as a tribute to the ice rink they had made on that day for Arendelle. "Don't let anyone in before we're ready."

"We won't."

Anna left Kristoff and Olaf to stand by Elsworth, already reaching out for his forehead. "Elsworth, you look a little red."

He pulled away, insisting, "I'm fine. Just watch over the courtyard. Please." Leaning in closer, he whispered, "And make sure some people don't touch anything."

Hearing him, Kristoff insisted, "I'm just gonna stand here!"

Sharing a siblingly scoff and smirk of knowingness, Elsworth walked to the doors.

"I'm probably gonna walk around a little," Olaf said, his snow flurry following him.

"And keep an eye on that cake!"

Anna ran after Olaf to stop him from eating any more cake. Sven nuzzled up to Kristoff, who crossed his arms. "He thinks you're an idiot."

"Well, clearly, he's wrong. Oh!" he cried, bumping into the cake. "Ooh!"

Anna ran back over to help him steady it, eyeing him. "Right. Toootally not an idiot," she chuckled, ruffling his hair. She kissed his cheek, then said, "Happy anniversary, hun."

Kristoff ran his hand down her cheek before giving her a quick, proper kiss on the lips. "Same to you, feisty-pants."

-

Elsworth poked his head up to the bed he and Y/n slept in. There she lay, sprawled out and her hair a mess, snoring away.

"Psst. Y/n."

She snorted awake. "Yeah...?"

"Happy anniversary," he whispered, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"To yoooou..." she sang in the key of the Birthday Song.

"To us," he corrected gently, smiling down at her.

"To ussssss...it's our anniversary..."

Elsworth laughed, ripping off the blankets. "Come on!"

Her eyes flew open with a gasp. "It's our anniversary?" she asked, waking up. What day was it again and how much had she had to drink to knock her out like that and make her forget?

"Mhm," her boyfriend replied. "And it's going to be perfect. Because..." He took her hands and helped her up.

Elsworth:
You've never had an annivers'ry before
Except, unless you had someone outside my locked door

He took an outfit off the hanger he had sneaked into the bedroom the night before. Delighted, she ripped it right out of his hands and ran behind a divider to change. He followed, standing next to the dividers patiently, wondering why she bothered when he had already seen her naked during activities.

Elsworth:
So, even if I'm late,
I'll help you celebrate
And now be your date
If I may

"Achoo!"

He sneezed wetly; behind him, two snowgies appeared, smiling widely at each other, then ran off before anyone could notice them.

Elsworth sniffled, then groaned, rubbing away the itch at his nose. Y/n came out, worried, in her new outfit and ribbons in her hair that Elsworth noted to himself to compliment later.

F/c

OR

Y/n:
Honey, I'm thinkin' ya might have a cold

"I don't get colds," he dismissed. "Besides..."

Elsworth:
A cold never bothered me, anyway ~

His normal ice suit turned green as he waved his hands, then added to Y/n favorite flower pattern to the hem of her skirt/shirt. As Y/n admired it, he put one in her hair, ice on the tips of the petals. "Whoa. Fancy."

Elsworth:
Just follow the string

"Wait, what?"

-

Y/n climbed onto a chair, then under the table, following the string exactly, in case she were to miss something.

Elsworth:
I got big plans
I've got surprises for today

The string ended up in a suit of armor. Y/n saw the middle in it before Elsworth reached over to open it up.

Elsworth:
Nothin' but nothin's gonna get in our way

He pulled a bracelet out and put it on her wrist as his first gift; he had gotten her more than she deemed necessary.

-

Kristoff was passed out on Sven, Anna under his arm, snuggling up to the crook of his neck.

Elsworth:
I've worked for weeks, planned everything within my power

The snowgies jumped over them, waking them up, and jumped by the punch bowl.

Elsworth:
I even got Kristoff and Sven to take a shower

Kristoff dove for them, startling Anna awake, before flipping the bowl and promptly dumping the punch on himself.

-

Y/n followed the string to the closet and opened it, revealing a miniature version of their castle.

Elsworth:
If someone wants to hold me back, I'd like to see them try

She took it out, studying it carefully. On top was a bobbly Olaf.

-

She ran outside with the castle still in her hand, running towards a bouquet of all her favorite flowers.

Elsworth:
I'm on the true love plan attack
I'm givin' you the sun, the moon, and sky

He spread his arms out, Y/n looking up at the sky as he gestured, giving him a chance to sneeze into the crook of his elbow.

"Hetchoo!"

-

Olaf hugged the snowgies tight, squealing, "Little brothers!"

Seeing more appear after Elsworth sneezed, he ran after them.

-

Elsworth:
I'm makin' today a perfect day for you

He lowered them on the swing outside the castle, nodding behind Y/n. In a basket was a sub with all her favorite things in it.

"Ooh, sandwich," she said, taking it out of the basket.

-

Elsworth:
I'm makin' today a blast if it's the last thing I do

They jumped on the couch in the gallery, Elsworth showing her the picture he had painted and framed. Everyone sat on Sven except Kristoff, who leaned on him from behind. Y/n sat in the middle of her Elsworth and Anna with her arms around both. Elsworth had one of his hands on hers that was draped over his shoulder and the other cradling Olaf, who had an open-mouthed smile.

-

Elsworth sped down the hall in a double-bike with Y/n on the back, still with all her gifts.

Elsworth:
For everything you are to me and all you've been through

He removed a piece of cloth that fell into her face, laughing a bit at her.

Elsworth:
I'm makin' today a perfect day for you, ooohhhh

"Achoo!" he sneezed as they bounced down the stairs, more snowgies coming up behind them. "Achoo!"

"They come in threes," Y/n warned.

"I'm fine. Aaa-CHOO!"

"Bless you."

The snowgies ran outside while Kristoff and Anna ran after the ones that were already outside. They looked at the cake, instantly deciding that that was what they wanted.

Anna saw them charge at it and sprinted to them, yelling, "KRISTOFF HELP -"

-

Elsworth:
Surprise, surprise, this one is specially -

He led her to a boat and took a fishing pole out of it before having dollars drop it to catch a sneeze in his cupped his hands. "ACHOOOO!", ending with a loud squeak.

Y/n caught it as it dropped, putting everything under one arm so she could put her other around her sneezey boyfriend.

Y/n:
Whoa! You got me reelin', but I'm still concerned for you
I think it's time that you go home and get some rest

Elsworth wiped his running nose on his sleeve again, sniffling loudly. But he grabbed her hands and pulled her over insistently to a snow globe.

Elsworth:
We are not stopping 'cause the next one is the be...

He breathed in quickly, cut off by another sneeze building up. "Eh..."

Y/n put the globe down to rub his back.

"Aa-CHOO!"

-

Y/n:
Elsworth, you gotta go lie down

He threw a cloak from 'Oaken's Cloaken' around her shoulders.

Elsworth:
No way, we have to paint the town

He opened the door to the sauna inside and inhaled it to help his congestion.

Y/n:
But you need medical attention

Oaken, only in a towel, came out with a bottle that he held up towards Elsworth. "Are you sick? How about a cold remedy..."

Oaken:
Of my own invention?

"No, thanks."

Ellsworth passed by, but Y/n took the bottle. "We'll take it," she said, paying him with half her sandwich. His face brightened as he took it and took a huge bite from it.

-

The children's choir sung to Y/n on the steps with Elsworth conducting, their books opened with their music, as she ate her sandwich.

Children's Choir:
We're making today a perfect day for you

Elsworth:
We're making today a special day!

-

Olaf continued to hug the snowgies as they appeared. Kristoff took his head and rolled it at the ones near the cake, knocking them over.

-

Children's Choir:
We're singing a perfect song to make your wishes come true

Elsworth:
Make your wishes come true!

Children's Choir:
We love Lady Y/n

With her free hand, she took a handkerchief out and gave it to Elsworth. He took it, turned away from her, and blew his nose with a loud honk, more snowgies appearing behind them as he took Y/n's shoulder and pulled her away.

Elsworth:
And I love you, too

"Mm-hm."

The snowgies jumped around the children, playing with them. They separated, running around from their perfect lines.

Children's Choir:
So, we're making today a perfect day...
A fabulous day in every way...
Yes, we're making today a perfect day...

-

A large group of snowgies sat on to of the giant paper signs, causing it to snap and the papers to scatter everywhere.

"I can fix it!" Olaf exclaimed, running around and collecting papers and Kristoff picking up the ones that he dropped.

One of the snowgies shot another on a spoon to the cake. Anna took a bowl and put it in front of her, shielding the cake. Seeing that they were about to try it again, she narrowed her eyebrows in determination, catching every single one of them in the bowl.

"All fixed!" Olaf called, but Kristoff was rearranging his horrible spelling while he was turned around.

-

Elsworth pulled Y/n's wrist to the clock tower, stumbling through the streets. "Combe on. Now, we climb!"

But she tried to make it so that her hand was closed around him to pull him back. "Elsworth, that's too much. Come on, you need to rest."

"But we ndeed to get to our chills," he slurred, his voice thick with congestion, and giggling. "I mbean thrills!" She could tell that he was delirious with his fever, the red in his face confirming her suspicion.

Elsworth:
Makin' dreams...
Makin' plans...

-

Sven ran after one of the group of snowgies, slamming into an ice pole, his tongue sticking to it.

-

He pulled her inside, then let go, running to the stairs that seemed to move in and out of his vision.

Elsworth:
Go, go, go, go!
Follow the string to the end
You are my girl and my very best friend

"Elsworth, wait." She ran after him, taking two steps at a time.

"What?"

Elsworth:
I'm fine...
We're gonna climb
We're gonna sing
Follow the string to the thing

He opened the door to the top, two mini statues of them at the top. Jumping on the edge, he grabbed onto a pole, swinging around.

Elsworth:
Happy happy happy happy
Merry merry merry merry
Hot, cold

His foot slipped off and he began to fall off. Throwing everything to the side, Y/n grabbed his arm and pulled him back up. "Elsworth!"

Elsworth:
I LOVE you...

She took him down and onto her lap, feeling his forehead and neck. "I thought you looked red. Honey, you're burning up!" She took his hand, holding it to her chest.

Y/n:
Alright, we can't go on like this
Let's put this day on hold

Taking his head, she laid it on her chest, stroking his hair from the back of his head.

Y/n:
Come on. Admit it to yourself...

He sighed, no longer able to hide it from his girlfriend or from himself. "Okay..."

His big eyes looked up at her, his red face in discomfort.

Elsworth:
I have a cold...

He buried his head into her shoulder, Y/n holding him close to her chest, rubbing his shoulder.

-

"I'mb sorry, Y/n," Elsworth said on the way back, Y/n holding onto him in an attempt to comfort him, her hand still rubbing with her arm around him. "I just wanted our first anniversary to be perfect. And I ruined it...just like I've ruined everything else."

Y/n got in front of him, putting her hands on his shoulders and tilting his chin up. "You didn't ruin anything, love. Come on, let's just get you to bed."

She opened the gates, not seeing the snowgies still after the cake that Kristoff kept out of their reach. Seeing them, they all rearranged themselves, shooting themselves like confetti and lifting Kristoff and Anna, Anna taking one of the ends of the plate so that they were both holding it up.

"Surprise!"

She turned when they shouted, momentarily forgetting about Elsworth in the excitement. "Wow!"

"Wow..." he repeated slowly, realizing that the snowgies had come from him.

All:
We're making today a perfect day for you!

Anna and Olaf ran over with the children, carrying Y/n over. Anna stayed behind when she saw how much worse Elsworth had been since that morning, reaching over to feel him again.

"Achoo!"

She pulled away when he sneezed into his fist, more snowgies appearing, who dragged Anna back and next to Y/n. Elsworth took out his handkerchief and blew his nose again, creating more snowgies.

All:
We're making today a smiley face, all shiny and new!

Kristoff:
There's a fine line between chaos

He struggled to keep the cake away from the snowgies, having to stand on Sven's antlers.

Olaf jumped up, wearing a festive headband.

Olaf:
And a hullabaloo!

All:
So we're makin' today a perfect day!

Y/n waved at the snowgies at her feet. Anna tapped her shoulder and pointed up.

All:
Makin' today a perfect day!
Per! Fect! Day! For you!

Seeing Kristoff on Sven like that, she laughed.

Children's Choir:
Makin' today a perfect day for you...

He looked down, giving Y/n an awkward smile. "Happy anniversary."

"You, too," she said, shrugging at the nonsense.

Children's Choir:
Makin' today a happy day and no feelin' blue!

Kristoff jumped down, sliding down so nothing would happen to the cake. Anna picked Y/n up and spun her away so that he would not hit her.

Anna:
I LOVE YOU, SISSY!

She giggled, trying to pull away to breath.

All:
For everything you are to us and all that you do

Kristoff balanced the cake in one hand to help Y/n away with his other and kept his arm around her. "We do."

Each of her arms wrapped around them and pulled them in for a tight side-hug. While Kristoff was distracted, the snowgies took the cake from under him and slid it to Sven. He cut it with his antlers and the cake was served to the snowgies.

All:
We're makin' today a perfect day...
Makin' today a perfect day...
Makin' today a perfect day...

"A perfect day!" Elsworth chimed in, throwing his arm around Y/n.

"Bed," was her response, trying to get him to turn around, but he pulled away.

"Ndo, wait. Wait, ndot yet." He staggered over to a giant horn, putting his hand around the neck of it to resist Y/n's pull. "All that's left to do is for the king to blow the celebratory bukkehorn."

"No no Elsworth it's fine -"

"Hetchoo!" He sneezed into it, creating a giant snowball as it let out the triumphant noise, sending it across the ocean.

-

Hans struggled to shovel manure into the cart. His princely clothes had been dirtied and his hair disheveled. Hearing a whooshing sound above him, he looked up, letting out a cry when the snowball hit him and sent him into the manure cart.

The horses walking laughed at him, knowing that he had it coming from the stories their masters had told them.

-

Y/n had put Elsworth right to bed after forcing him to take a bath and putting him into clean pajamas, wrapping him in her new cloak, partly because she knew it would smell like him after. [Girls, this is why we take our boyfriends' hoodies.] After, she had run to the kitchen, kicked out all of the staff, and made a pot of soup herself for Elsworth, which ended up being the castle's dinner.

Anna offered to stay home, but she practically pulled Anna's dress on herself and shoved her out the door with Kristoff, chaotically throwing the lute after them, which Kristoff promptly caught, cradling it protectively all the way to his sled.

She sat up with her boyfriend, feeding him the last of it before setting the bowl down on the table next to her, picking up a cup of water, and making him drink from it.

"Best anniversary gift ever."

"Which onde?" he asked, the cloak slipping from his shoulders.

Y/n reached over and put it back up. "You letting me take care of you." She bent his head forward and gave him a kiss, then pulled back to smile at him before he turned his head away from her.

"Itchoo!"

Six more snowgies popped up on his lap and around the bed. With a soft smile, he stroked the one on his lap.

-

Marshmallow answered a knock at the ice palace door. He looked down and saw Olaf, Kristoff, Anna, and Sven, snowgies following Olaf inside.

"This way, Sludge and Slush and Slide and Ansel and Flake and Fridge and Flurry and Power and Crystal and Squalor and Pat and Sphere and William."

"Don't ask," was all that Kristoff said when Marshmallow gave him a confused look, Anna patting his hand in understanding.

-

It had already been three hours since Y/n had fallen asleep next to her king, still up from a worse fever and not being able to breath, especially out of the nostril closest to the mattress.

He sat up, taking the already very used handkerchief from the dresser, and blew his nose, snowgies jumping out the window to join their brothers at the ice palace. He waved to them with the hand not holding the handkerchief, finished, and refolded out neatly before he put it down.

'Wait...'

He looked at Y/n, still sleeping; a miracle from how loudly he blew. He got back under the blankets next to her, snuggling into her arms that seemed to wrap around him against free will while she slept.

'Oh, well...I still need to find a ring, anyway.'
