"Get as much ice as you can," Ice commanded, out of her palace for the first time in weeks. The Ice Kingdom was rapidly melting and she knew despite her appearance, she had to help her people in every way she could. "Keep yourselves cold. I don't know what's happening but we'll get through this, alright? Hurry."
"Ice," a little girl tugged at her dress. "Is it true?"
Ice crouched down to her level.
"Is what true, dear?"
"Is the world ending? Rumours are going around and-"
"You'll be alright, my darling, I swear."
The little girl didn't seem convinced but still have Ice a slight smile.
"Will you be alright?"
Ice sighed and pat the girl's hair.
"Whether I survive or not, I ask you to be strong and support whoever's in charge, alright?"
The girl's smile died.
"You're not going to survive, are you?"
Ice kissed her forehead.
"I'm sorry, sweetie."
"Ice," Snow called out. "We have to go back to the palace. The storm is getting stronger and hotter. A part along the border has already melted. We need to get cover."
Ice nodded to him before dismissing the little girl.
"My time has come, Snow. I've been ruling for centuries now yet my heart still feels so empty. Why is this?"
"You are being forced to lose your kingdom, who would be enthusiastic?"
"I can feel it. The old age. I have for a century now and have been longing for the day of my rest. Why don't I feel the same now?"
"The reality of it has finally settled. It's normal."
"Is it?" Ice questioned. "I feel selfish. I feel like challenging fate for my throne. I feel... Like I'm not in control of myself."
"You'll be fine, Ice," Snow brushed off the thought, leading Ice into her melting palace.
Ice hesitated taking any more steps into the palace. She let Snow walk on before turning to face the mirror. And she saw her.
The lady in the mirror had short, curled black hair with dark blue eyes and a warm complexion. A long, blue royalty gown dressed her body and she had a large tiara poised on the top of her head.
"Ice, my old friend. How great it is to see you."
"Get out of me, Aqua. Get out."
"Oh, I would love to. I really would. And I will, eventually. Just not now."
"What do you want from me?"
"I want my kingdom back. Simple, right? Only, I know you would never hand it over to me so I have to find my own alternatives."
"This is not your kingdom. Your kingdom died with Eden and Skye."
"Don't speak of them in my presence!" Aqua spat out. "I need not think of them. They are gone; a fragment of the past and must stay that way. Don't drag them to the present."
"Whether I mention them or not, my statement remains. This is not your kingdom."
Aqua derided.
"I'm the Water Witch of this land and have been since the beginning of time. Who are you to make such claims?"
"I'm the Ice Queen and I command you to leave my kingdom at once!"
"Oh look, I'm the Ice Queen, blah blah blah, my kingdom, blah blah," Aqua mocked her, laughing at her own joke. "Listen princess, I've been here longer. You can't kick me out. You're an Aquidan. Say it with me. Aquidan. Meaning you come from me, Aqua. I'm your master you unworthy brat and I demand you now down to me and return my kingdom."
"I'd rather bow down to an ant than you."
Aqua chuckled a bit before outstretching her arm through the mirror and wrapping her hand around Ice's neck, strangling her.
"You're mine," she simply spoke in a sickly sweet tone. "I see you as my child. But disobedient children need punishments. So what is it, Ice? Will you give it to me?"
"Never."
Aqua squeezed tighter.
"Fair enough. Have it your name... Your Highness."
"Not today, Aqua," a voice ran through the air before a rock hit the mirror, shattering it. The Water Witch disappeared and Ice fell to the ground, choking.
"Nat?" She asked, finally gasped.
The lady grinned at her, looking much different from before. Her grey hair was thick and black, looking healthier than ever. Her skin was renewed and didn't even have one wrinkle. She looked just as she had when she saved Unndria with her plump red lips and bronze skin.
"G'day Ice. I believe I came at the right moment, huh?"
"What have you done, Nat? What have you-"
"I'm enjoying my final days on Earth. Won't you let me do so? Have mercy on my poor, old soul."
"Not this way, Nat. You can ruin everything. Fate will not have mercy."
"Final days, Ice. Read through the lines. There's only one way to break Ember's spell... That's besides why I'm here anyway."
"Why are you here?"
"For you. Your time has run out, Ice. Now come with me."
"Never."
Nat snapped her fingers and immediately, the palace completely melted down to water by a fire dragon blowing at it.
Ice gulped.
"Don't make me drag you, Your Majesty," Nat told her. "Because I will."
