Multicoloured flames engulfed the sky in a fiery explosion and the ground was nothing but an endless void. Rose found herself in the middle of the chaos, floating through the air. Well, it wasn't much of floating. She could see her legs moving as though she was walking but what could she be walking over?
How she got herself in this situation, Rose had no clue. One second she was in the Fire Kingdom, the next she was suspended over the Border. Only, she knew that could never happen. The Flames lost many of their people trying. It was as if she was lucid dreaming but she knew better. The feeling, the picture, everything was too realistic to just be a dream.
She continued venturing over the void until the skies dimmed to an icy grey and then long, thick and sharp icicles hung from the sky, some so low down, they lightly scrapped the top of Rose's head. As soon as her scalp came in contact with the ice structure, she shivered. Her body instantly rejected the cold, sending it all over her body in a shudder and then expelling it. She was inert for a moment before she heard a familiar voice call her name from somewhere far, still over the void.
Stealthily crawling towards it, Rose went over what she could do with her powers if anything escalated. The voice became louder the closer she got but the source of the voice also became untraceable. The sounds came from every direction like the person was enclosing her in a circle without her knowledge.
Getting herself out of her crawling position and standing up, Rose turned around, hoping to see someone suddenly pop out. Nothing happened. Growing undoubtedly terrified, she took a couple of steps backwards. And then it happened.
She bumped into something, causing both her and the person fall. Rose had a mini heart attack thinking she was going into the void and never be seen again but she didn't. As insane as it sounds, there must have been a random glass layer above the void because she didn't fall through when she was crawling and neither did she do so now.
"Rose?" The voice came again, only she knew where it was coming from now and the person seemed deeply confused.
Rose glanced up at the girl and felt her jaw drop. Lynn's hair was jet black and was so long, the ends brushed the ground. A water tiara sat securely on the top of her head and she wore a cobalt blue dress that trailed behind her like a wedding dress. Her eyes were of a deep blue colour, a shade so beautiful but Rose had never seen before and to compliment it, her usually pale skin had a bit of a tan to it.
"Lynn," Rose stammered. "You look amazing."
The Aquidan furrowed her eyebrows and looked down at her clothes.
"What are you on about? I've always looked like this... Now, you're the one that looks amazing."
"No. You look... different. Very different. Just look at your dress, or your hair, or your skin."
And Lynn did so, glancing back at Rose not long later.
"As I said before, I've always looked like this."
"No. Your hair is black and you are tanned and your dress is the deepest, most beautiful shade of blue."
Lynn glanced back down at herself.
"You're crazy, Rose. That blonde hair messed you up," she chuckled in response.
"Blonde hair?" Rose repeated, glimpsing at her hair. "My hair's not blonde! It's ginger. It's always been ginger. You're the one that crazy."
"Wait... who's that next to you?"
Rose did a three-hundred-and-thirty-degree turn before furrowing her eye brows at Lynn.
"There's no one next to me."
"Right over there," Lynn pointed but there was nothing when the latter looked. Turning her gaze back to her, Rose spotted a silhouette form beside Lynn. It was nothing but the outline of a person but she knew whoever it was, was a male.
"Oh, you mean the guy next to you?"
Lynn mirrored Rose's previous actions before frowning at her.
"You're drunk," she stated simply. "He's still beside you. He didn't move to my side. He's right there."
"No, he's over there. To your left."
"To your right."
"Left."
"Right."
"Left!"
"Right!"
"Wait..." Rose paused, the realisation hitting her. "You can see a silhouette on my right, yeah? And I have blonde hair and just overall look different but you don't and there is no silhouette on your left. Am I correct?"
"Yeah... Your point is?"
"I see you the exact same way. You looked different and there's a silhouette beside you but nothing different about me nor is there someone by my side. Maybe we see things about the other person, that they don't see about themselves."
"Or maybe... you said I was wearing deep blue, right? That is the colour of water. So maybe... I died. I melted in the future and this is a glimpse into it."
"Or the next generation will be completely different from Dria. And you become the Water Queen."
"And what about the silhouettes? What are they?"
Rose thought hard, trying to make sense out of everything. It took a while but it finally hit her.
"Oh no," she muttered. "No, no. It can't be."
"What can't be? What is it?"
"The last time there was a Water Queen was before Aqua, the water queen returned and turned everything to ice."
"Which means," Lynn caught on. "They are the others. Air and Earth."
