Chapter 3 - Newcomer
Another quiet day at the spire, the resident Disassembly Drones inside, resting while the sun sets, internals rearing to get hunting, but wait, for the sun needs to hide first. Piercing through the eternal quiet of the interior, the gentle crunching of snow as something entered, scouring the piles of corpses for anything, grabbing miscellaneous parts. The sounds catch the intention of the only awake inhabitant, who emerges from the landing pod, eyes frantically looking around until they ask, quiet yet echoing around the area, "H-hello? X, Y, Z? Did any of you wake up..?" Their voice is timid, fear echoing throughout. They go to speak again, head poking out from the pod door, until a hand quickly clasps over their mouth, gun, specifically an uzi, to the side of their head. Panic shoots down their spine, their eyes darting around, eventually talking, in a hushed, quiet manner. "Why, in Robo-God's' name are you here?! Do you want to get killed?!" their tone was aggressive. A sigh vacated their lips, as the uzi disappeared, replaced by the hand of a disassembly drone. "S-so... who are-re you... and why are y-you here?" the other drone asked, not hushing their voice. The uzi returned to their head, pressing hard. "They have referred to me as Monume, and why I am here is none of your business. Now, who are you and why haven't you been killed by the sky's demons?" Monume's hushed, cautious voice flew towards the other, who panicked more and more. "I-I'm W..." he said, shaking, "A-and I live here..." Monume's eyes became thin, hollow ovals at this information. "DO YOU HAVE A. FREAKING DEATH WISH?!" he yelled at W, before realising his mistake. Faster than any optics could make out, Monume had vanished, right as a thud sounded, as well as the ominous shifting sound of metal. His scream rang out, before a laser flew across the area, a body launched with it. That awoke the others. Two more entities flew towards Monume, descending from their positions on the ceiling, whose eyes now panicking, took off in a sprint, past W. One of the beings stopped in front of W, smiling. "Do you know that guy, W?" they asked, tail swishing like an excited dog. W sighed, shaking his head. "I don't, X." This excited the Disassembly Drone, his eyes reshaping to the X, as he flies off.
Monume's visor ran with digital sweat as pursuers kept up the chase, unrelenting in their attacks. Laser after laser was fired at them, only seeing them be temporarily stalled, but enough for Monume to gain distance, all until he ran into W again, falling to the ground, dazed. Last things he saw before it all went black were four pairs of ovals staring at him.
"So... what are we doing with em?" The question sounded out as the group stood over the unconscious drone lying in the snow, their body made of mixed parts. "I say we strip them of their gear and keep them as emergency food..." another voice interjected, from the left of the first one, smiling. "I think, what we should do, is similar to what Y said." a third voice sounded off, opposite to the second, Y's, their voice firm in it's decision. "But instead of feeding off them, we use them for information." the other heads, thinking it over, nodded. "Why can't we feed off them though, Z?" Y retaliated, clearly not happy with the results. Slowly, after much bickering, the four of them picked up the body, dragging it inside the landing pod. Once it was seated, the four, well, mainly W and X, got to work, detaching the intruder's limbs as the other two argued behind them. It took quite a while, but right as their tail was removed, they woke up, panicking. "What the bloody hell have you done to me?!" They yelled, staring daggers at their captors, mostly at W. The only response was from said drone, piping up."W-well... y-you a-are a threat... a-and we needed t-to neutral-lise that..." he said, sounding less timid and more cautious. Z sighed, putting a hand to his visor. "What scaredy-drone over there is saying," he spoke, putting his face mere inches from the captive's, "is that you entered our territory, threatened one of our own and are now facing the consequences." their tone, similar to that of a drill sergeant, pierced right through whatever tough persona the limbless drone had. "So, new guy, what's your name?" Z questioned, tail dangerously close to injecting itself through the captive's torso. "As I told them," they returned, head tilting to their right, towards W, "They have called me Monume." Z stared a bit longer, before backing up, smiling. Monume thought all was over, he'd get his limbs back and be on his way. Nope, not at all. A claw suddenly scraped itself across his visor, leaving a sizeable scratch along with it's mic splitting sound. Monume, both dazed and pained, glared at the claw's owner, that being Y, who was to his left. "Could you please not?!" he half yelled, half whispered. Y merely giggled in response, taking delight in Monume's anger. X slapped Y across the face, clearly annoyed. "Y, did you already forget that we're trying to not injure them?" his voice stern, but also with a similar tone to a disgruntled sibling. Y left a little after that, knowing that X wouldn't allow it to pester the captive. X followed, both to make sure Y didn't turn back, and because he was hungry.
