Chapter 4

The party was today and the news had spread to the whole town. Everywhere, Calista set her feet on, the noise and news spread even more.

Calista thought of many reasons. Many reasons and questions why she wouldn't and shouldn't attend the party. And if she didn't attend, she would be seen as a coward and a weak ass. She never wanted that name. It was hard believing Jeremy was the one holding the party. No it couldn't be, he was just a student and there was no way he could have such amount of money, else it was held by Meagan's parent. She imagined how she would feel, if she sees every other person dancing with a partner. Who would she dance with? She couldn't just sit and drink, while others including her ex enjoy themselves. The part she wouldn't even be able to withhold is when she sees Jeremy with his new girlfriend.

She recalled she almost slapped Meagan the very first time she saw her with Jeremy. That day could have been worse if Jeremy hadn't held her hands and embarrassed her. That day was crazy and she didn't remember what happened the rest of the day.

Sunny brought out two black gowns from their wardrobe. She chuckled as she put them on the bed.

She saw how happy Sunny was and she didn't know how to break the news about her not attending the party with her. She just couldn't stand it. Almost everyone knew they were dating and they would be shocked that, the celebrant's boyfriend was her boyfriend. She couldn't imagine the humiliation. "Sunny..." She called as she arranged her books and picked up the book that fell.

Sunny smiled and brought out their makeup kits. " Why are you like this? We would be late if you keep staring at those books. Exam wouldn't come around until next two months, so whatever you are planning to tell me, just keep it to yourself and let's get ready for today!" She took out two ankle red boots with two small hats. One was red and the other was black. The one which was red was Calista's. She knew how much she could die for red. "I'm so excited about this. It's the very first time we are going to be attending a party this year and it looks like I have been starved and now going to be fed."

Calista's eyes skipped the hats Sunny dropped beside her. She was trying to think of the way to  put it together. When she finally found words, she looked up, "I'm having a terrible headache and period cramps. A rest would do today, Sunny. I'm already feeling weak and you know how much I would love to drink whenever a beer passes by. So, I think I should just rest at home instead."

Sunny furrowed her eyebrows in such a way that made her look a bit grumpy. She walked to her and dragged her up from the bed. "You and I know that your period comes late in the month and this is sixth, for Christ sake. I know you are saying this because you don't know how to feel when you see that bloody fool. Who knows if you would find another person? "

"Sunny stop that! If you were in my shoes you would know how I feel. You are with the celebrant's brother, indeed you will feel honoured. But me? I'm an ex to the celebrant's boyfriend, a rival, how does that sound?"

"It sounds awesome, Calista but do you still consider yourself a rival?" she snapped.

Knowing that there was no way she would convince her friend she sighed. "How would that be awesome, Sun?"

Sunny smiled in an awkward way, "You only call be that when you are confused." She walked to her and hugged her so tight, "Trust me, we are gonna be the talk of the town. I don't mind if we destroy the party, you know..."

"Sunny..." She warned.

"No. I mean why not? At least we wouldn't be bored. We can dance really crazy, throw away the guests food, distract the celebrant from her boyfriend and do all sorts of things."

No. She knew all these suggestions were bad. There was no way, she would do that with her, "The last time I checked, you are the celebrant's brother's girlfriend. How does that sound?"

"Awesome, I say. We would be creating a scene. George might be annoyed for some time but trust me, we would just bounce back together. He wouldn't break up with me because of his sister..."

"Fine fine," Calista said. She stood up and began to pull of her clothes inorder to put on their gorgeous dress. They had both gone to one of the best boutiques just for the party. They picked really expensive things, to be precise, Sunny did but she was reluctant because they were too costly. But what do you do when your bestie is a really crazy, rich ass dude? You just nod like a dumbass. "I find this dress pretty though..."

Sunny grinned foolishly like she just heard what she had always wanted too, "It's more pretty because it's on you. We would all be the centre of attraction today."

"Just wear it and let's take a pics." Calista smiled.

They both got dressed and applied makeups.

Sunny's dress was just the same as Calista's own, the only difference was the ribbons at their bare back, they were white and red respectively. Sunny applied much makeup for Calista such that she could be mistaken for a doll. Sunny actually wanted those makeup to clear all the baggy and tired eyes she had. Sunny's makeup was applied by Calista and as you would guess, it was moderate.

Calista's dress was long and had big puffs from her kneecaps to the floor. Though from her mid thigh, was a red net, the dress was slim flitted and brought out her amazing curves.

At the other hand, Sunny's dress was the same except that hers was black net and she had little curves but her butts were heavier than Calista's.

Both of them were influencers of different brands but they never behaved like one. Outside, they were goddess in people's eyes even though they were still college students. All thanks to Sunny's parents, Calista could have just been a normal orphan girl. She would have even dropped out from colleage due to her parents' accident.

They arrived at the party with George.

George was an handsome god. He had spiky blonde hair that matched with his hazel eyes. He was around 6,3 ft tall which didn't seem too tall for Sunny. He was looking really cool, especially with Sunny's hand on his while Calista was beside her.

Honestly, Calista had natural hatred for George. She found him too bossy and at the same time too romantic. Just because, Sunny and Calista had no cars of theirs, he picked them up and almost made out with Sunny right in the car!

It was already frustrating and she was glad they had finally gotten to the location.

About cars, she should tell Sunny about it. Sunny was twenty already but her parents still refused to buy her car nor do they want her have a car of her own. She had no idea why, but she knew it could be related to her health.

Just like they had initially planned, Sunny excused herself from George to spend little time with Calista who was finding it hard to sit alone.

"Calista, you could just dance with one of those gentlemen. I know they wouldn't refuse you."

Calista looked at those Sunny was talking about. They were men in their early or late thirties. She was just nineteen, and they were too old for her. "Could you just borrow me your guy and you, dance with them?" Calista asked.

Sunny wasn't expecting the question, "No, why?"

"Are you blind to see how old they are? I wonder why they are invited to a young girl's birthday party."

"Oh my God. They are politicians and business men, you see. I didn't tell you that, George's father is one of the richest men here in Vella?"

Calista gasped, "What?" Maybe that was the main reason Jeremy left her. She never knew Jeremy could be this.

"Yes. Back to where we are, there are other young dudes, and maybe you would eventually find someone to clear your sadness. Sorry, babe, I really need to get to George. Mind you, please, don't drink too much."

She heard all but she wasn't listening. All she was thinking was to make sure to avoid Jeremy all means.

Sunny left her alone and she kept looking around.

To say the hall was really gorgeous and exotic was an understatement. She felt like she was actually in heaven.

The crowds, music, lights, and every other things were amazing. She kept on wondering around and searching for the celebrant. She needed to set her eyes on that Meagan who snatched her boyfriend. Was she actually gorgeous than her? Why would Jeremy choose her over her?

Talk of the devil, Jeremy approached her. She immediately turned away from him and walked other side. She walked faster as she noticed he was fast approaching her. Immediately, he shove her backwards, so that she was facing him. "You don't need to run away from me. I'm really happy you came."

She glanced at his face before bringing her gaze down, "You would be, because your ex and your present girlfriend are here. Will you please, excuse me? I don't want people thinking we are still together." She slowly slid her hand away from him.

"But..." Jeremy called, unfortunately, she was already gone.

Jeremy didn't know what to feel or say. He wanted to tell her she looked amazingly gorgeous but she couldn't wait to hear it.

She was actually really gorgeous. He was sad that she would allow other men to look at her in some way. And he wouldn't bear it.

Now that she attended the party, the next thing he needed to do was to look after her and ensure that the man doesn't get to her.

He knew the man would go all means to hurt her and he was ready to protect her.

He gasped as he saw the man from an angle coming towards her. Now. It was earlier than expected.

And it was time to ensure she doesn't fall into his trap.
