Chapter 3-Battle in the Sky and Ruined Easter

Autumn's POV

"Santa Claus?" The boy shined a light on the Guardians he saw. "The Easter Bunny? Sandman? Autumn Charm? The Tooth Fairy!" The boy gasped when he saw Tooth. "I know you'd come!"

"Surprise!" She giggled nervously. "We came!"

"He can see us?" Jack asked, astonished.

The boy shined his light around, still gasping.

"Most of us," I added, looking at Jack with sorrow.

Jack's face fell when I said that. One day people will be able to see him.

"Shh! Guys, he's still awake!" Tooth informed us.

"Sandy! Knock him out." Bunny instructed Sandy who pounded his fist on his hand.

"Huh?" The boy said.

"With the dream sand, you Gumby." Bunny corrected and then the dog in the room growled at Bunny.

"No, stop, that's the Easter Bunny! What are you doing, Abby? Down!" The boy ordered his dog but Abby didn't listen.

"Alright, nobody panic," Bunny assured us, putting down his bag of teeth.

"That's a um- That's a Greyhound. Do you know what Greyhound's do to rabbits?" Jack questioned Bunny with amusement.

"Well, he's a pretty safe bird if he's never met a rabbit like me. Six foot one, nerves of steel, master of Taichi and-" Bunny got cut off by Jack setting off the alarm clock and the dog began to bark.

Abby started to chase Bunny around the room and it was very chaotic. I flew higher into the air to avoid the chaos that was happening. I couldn't help but chuckle at Abby chasing Bunny.

I saw Sandman had his dream sand in his hands and he tried to hit Abby, but he missed and it knocked out Tooth instead. The dream sand got knocked around and ended up hitting North and then Bunny.

I glanced down at Jack who was smiling with amusement at the scene that was in front of us. I looked back up and saw the dream sand coming straight toward me and I had no time to react and got knocked out by it.

-

I shot awake and saw North shaking me and the others guardians awake. I noticed that Jack and Sandy were gone and North, Bunny, and Tooth were sitting here awake but were weary and dazed.

I rubbed my forehead and Bunny gave me a concerned look but I gave him a reassuring smile.

We didn't question where the other two were and headed to North's sleigh to see if we can find them. I ended up falling back asleep due the the effects of the sand.

Moments later, I jumped awake and saw we were flying in North's sleigh. I shook my head attempting to feel more awake and surprisingly it worked.

I had to be awake because I saw that Jack and Sandy were facing Pitch. I took out my wand and we followed them up into the sky. I hopped out of the sleigh and my broom caught me and took me up higher.

I saw Jack was having trouble with the sand horses and I assisted him by using my magic.

The others did their own thing in fighting and I didn't focus on that.

Jack gave me a smile and I couldn't help but blush at him.

Out of nowhere I was knocked off of my broom and I sent falling toward Earth.

"Autumn!" I heard Jack call and I let out a cry for help. I didn't have the ability to fly on my own and Jack was the nearest one.

"Jack!" I called and he flew down toward me, luckily dodging the sand horses.

Once he was close enough to me, he was able to grab my arm and pull me to chest. My heart was beating at a fast pace and I breathing heavily.

"Thank you." I breathed to Jack, tightening my grip around his neck. His cold touch didn't phase me it actually felt relaxing.

I heard him sigh with relief and rubbed my back. "I got you. I won't let you fall."

Jack landed on the sleigh and put me down on the wing of it.

Bunny was there and looked at us. "Might wanna duck?"

We were both confused and turned to find a raging horse coming straight toward us. We both ducked as it shot at us and Bunny took it out with his boomerang.

Bunny smirked at us and I rolled my eyes at his cockiness.

Above us, Sandy was facing Pitch all by himself and he looked like he wasn't winning.

"We've got to help Sandy!" Jack yelled and North made the sleigh gain speed to catch up to Sandy.

Right before our own eyes, Pitch launched a arrow and with his back turned, Sandy got shot right in the back. I gasped and covered my mouth with my hand.

"Sandy!" I called, feeling tears prick in my eyes.

"No!" Jack yelled and he leaned forward toward the black swarm that was swallowing the gold.

Pitch was laughing. "Don't fight that fear, little man!"

Tooth tried to fly toward them but horses surrounded her, restraining her from doing so.

Sandy's body slowly got devoured by the black sand and so enough he was completely gone.

I felt my powers weakening as I felt sorrow fill my body watching Sandy vanish.

"Sandy." North said with sadness.

Jack flew toward Pitch with anger. "NO!"

We watched as Pitch's horses swarmed his body and my heart dropped thinking he could be dead. I was about to leap forward when a blue flash of light shot out of the blackness and ice covered all of the black sand. The ice shattered the sand horses and Pitch was sent flying backward.

Jack fall unconscious and was falling toward the ground. I immediately got on my broom and flew toward him.

"Jack!" North called as I caught his body and laid him in the sleigh.

He saved me, I saved him.

"Jack." I softly said.

"How did you do that?" Tooth asked as he sat up, grunting.

He breathed out. "I-I didn't know I could."

I grabbed Jack's cold hand and gave him a weary smile. He saved us all but couldn't save Sandy which put a damper on all of us.

——

There was a funeral ceremony held for Sandy. It made the entire next day a more silent and sad atmosphere which I hate. Being sad like this, weakens my powers and at this moment with Pitch around I can't have that happen. I wish I was in Sandy's position not him.

I walked up to the globe and noticed the lights were going out in a more hasty pace.

"Look at how fast they are going out." Tooth pointed out.

"It's fear." Jack flew up to the globe. "He's tipped the balance."

My poor broom has lost it's flight abilities and didn't have the ability to fly anymore. My wand was still in good shape but I was loosing power.

"Hey, buck up you sad sacks." Bunny hopped by us with a cheerful mood. "We can still turn this around. Easter is tomorrow and I need your help. I say we pull out all the stops and we get those little lights flickering again."

Jack and I exchanged smiles and my cheeks once again turned red. Easter. That will make me happy again that's for sure.

We walked through Santa's workshop and headed down his elevator.

"Bunny is right!" North declared. "As much as it pains me to say old friend this time Easter is more important than Christmas."

"Thats a first." I chuckled as we walked out of the elevator with North in front of us.

"Hey, did everyone hear that?" Bunny asked as if his ears were deceiving him.

"We must hurry the the Warren." North said. "Everyone on the sleigh!"

Bunny stopped North and shook his head. "Oh no mate, my Warren, my rules. Buckle up."

Bunny tapped his foot and I gasped as a sink hole was made and we fell down the hole. We slide through tunnel and I couldn't help but cheer a little despite the fear I had a few seconds ago.

Moments later, tumbled on the ground and I hopped onto my feet. Tooth and Jack were the only ones who didn't fall.

I felt eyes staring at me and I turned to see Jack doing that.

He averted his eyes and his cheek turned pink. I giggled and turned away from him.

Note laughed and sat up. "Buckle up. That is funny."

"Welcome to the Warren!" Bunny introduced, gesturing to the grassy area behind him. Two egg boulders with faces walked up to us.

Bunny's ears perked up and turned away, alarmed.

He sniffed the air. "Something's up.

All the little eggs scampered out of the tunnel around and Bunny got in a fighting stance.

We heard screaming in the tunnel and we all got our weapons out ready to fight.

We charged toward the tunnel yelling out our battle cries. We stopped in our tracks when we saw a small little girl appear in front is us and I lowered my weapon.

"Sophie?" Jack questioned as we stared at her wide eyed. The girl's eyes lit up and chased the Elf that was here.

"Elf!" She giggles and chased it around.

"What is she doing here?" Bunny asked frantically.

North checked his jacket. "Uh, snow globe."

I rolled my eyes at his carelessness. He must've misplaced it or something.

"Crikey! Somebody do something!" Bunny exclaimed with panic.

"Don't look at me, I'm invisible remember?" Jack said with defense.

"Elf! Elf!" Sophie dragged the elf and Tooth flew around to her.

"Don't worry, Bunny. I bet she's a fairy fan!" Tooth beamed and flew down to her level. "It's okay little one."

"Pretty." Sophie cooed.

Tooth awed. "You know what? I've got something for you." Tooth opened her hand and a bunch of bloody teeth were in the palm of her hand. "Here it is. Look at all the pretty teeth with blood and gum on them."

Sophie cried out in fear and ran away.

"Blood and gums?" Jack chuckled and hopped into a egg boulder. "When was the last time you actually hung out with kids?"

Last week? Or was it last month? I don't remember.

"PEEKABOO!" Sophie shouted in the boulder, scaring all the eggs away.

"We are very busy bringing joy to children." North explained. "We don't have time-" Sophie ten by chasing a butterfly. "For children."

I scoffed. "Hmm."

"If one little kid can ruin Easter then we're in worst shape then I thought." Jack mentioned and created an snowflake. The snowflake floated all the way to Bunny and dissolved in his nose.

Bunny's expression changed and he smiled.

Whatever Jack did it worked. Bunny's view on this situation turned around and he was excited now.

Soon enough, a swarm of eggs came from the tunnel and our way.

North was shocked. "Rimsky-Korsakov! That's a lot of eggs!"

"Uh, how much time do we have?" Jack asked and I sat hopped into a boulder that was next to hi. Jack was perched onto his staff.

"We have time, Jack." I assured him with a giggle.

Jack gave me a soft smile and I felt my heartbeat quicken.

I watched as the eggs got sprayed painted by the flowers and Bunny ran through them with Sophie on his back.

"Alright, troops! It's time to push back. That means eggs everywhere!" Bunny announced. "On every high ride, farmhouse, and trail park!"

Sophie was having a blast and didn't have a care in the world at the moment.

"Oh! There will be bathtubs filled with my beautiful cookies!" Bunny continued.

North picked up a colorful egg from the paint river and gave it a look. "Okay, that's s little strange."

"Nah, mate. That's adorable." Bunny said with butterflies and eggs around him.

"There will be springtime in every continent!" Bunny announced. "And I'm bringing hope with me!"

I felt a bit of joy while watching Bunny Get Easter ready and a smile grew on my face.

"Look who's finally smiling again." I heard Jack tease and I turned to find him next to me like before.

I giggled, giving him an eye roll. "Doesn't take much for me to smile. I just needed a reminder that's all."

"Well, if you ever need another reminder just come to me," Jack told me and I gave me a soft smile.

"Thanks," I said and Jack nodded in response before he followed Bunny and Sophie out of the tunnel.

I hopped down and followed them.

All the eggs were finished and getting ready for hiding.

The four of us watched as the eggs scurried away into the many tunnels in front of us.

I heard Sophie yawn and she fell asleep in Bunny's arms.

"Not bad," Jack said

"Not bad yourself," Bunny told him and Jacks' eyes lit up.

"Look, I'm sorry about the whole kangaroo thing." Jack apologized.

"It's the accent, isn't it?" Bunny asked and the both of us chuckled.

The accent is misleading.

North and Tooth come out and looked at Sophie.

"Aww, poor little ankle-biter," Bunny said, staring at her. "Look at her, all tuckered out."

"I love her." I smiled and Jack glanced at me for a moment.

"I think it's time to get her home." Tooth mentioned and took Sophie in her arms.

"How about I take her home?" Jack offered as we stood up.

"Jack no." I stopped worried. "Pitch is-"

"No match for this." Jack finished with a small smirk in my direction.

"Which is why we need you here with us." Bunny continues.

"Trust me, I'll be as quick as a bunny," Jack assured us and I let out a quiet giggle.

North allowed Jack to take her home and soon enough he left with Sophie.

——

The next day came and it was Easter. Jack hadn't returned yet as I was really worried about him. I hope he is okay.

The Easter egg hunt began and it was a complete bust. No eggs appeared and all the kids were upset which affected me immensely. I attempted to conjure up some egged but my magic failed.

My powers were getting weaker and weaker. Something must've happened when Jack took Sophie home last night.

The kids at the egg hunt were sulking and starting to leave.

Bunny was shocked and ran out to them in hopes of turning this around.

"Maybe he just hid them really well this year?" A girl guessed.

"We've looked everywhere, there's nothing." A boy said, searching a nearby plant.

"Yes, there is!" Bunny exclaimed and took out a egg from his basket. "I mean this aren't my best looking goodies but they'll do in a pinch."

"I can't believe it." The girl said hopping down from the table.

"I know." Bunny chuckled.

"There's no such thing as the Easter Bunny."

Bunny was in disbelief. "What? No!"

Bunny frantically tried to stop them but no one saw him and my heart shattered at this.

What hurt the most was when a kid walked through Bunny. Bunny's eyes widened in fear and shock.

"They don't see me."

Bunny fell onto his knees and cried.

Tooth and I came out to comfort him. I hugged Bunny, feeling tears form.

I noticed Jack in the distance and I ran up to him, stumbling along the way.

"Jack!" Tooth and I called.

"Where were-"

Tooth gasped, stopping me from continuing.

"Where did you get that?" Tooth asked and I looked down at his hand. I gasped as well when I saw he had his teeth in his hand.

"I was- it was-"

"Where's baby tooth?" Tooth asked in panic.

Jack was at a loss for words and couldn't speak.

"Jack..." I trailed off feeling sorrow. "What have you done?"

"That is why you weren't here?" North spoke. "You were with Pitch!"

"No! Listen, listen!" Jack exclaimed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this to happen."

"He has to go." Bunny appeared in front of us. "We should never have trusted you!"

Jack stumbled back with shock and Bunny's face turned not sadness.

"Easter is new beginnings. New life." Bunny said. "Easter is about hope and now it's gone."

Bunny let out a sad sigh before walking away.

Jack turned to us with worry and looked at us for a second. We locked eyes for a second and I could see the regret and pain in them.

Jack shook his head and flew away from us.

I watched him flew away and I closed my eyes tightly.

Hope is gone and happiness is gone too.
