Pitch had woken up and got on his feet to see the Guardians, the children, you, Jack, the yetis, and the elves having the snowball fight. He his eyes were glued onto the sight and of the giant sand animals flying all around. He just barely ducked as a giant sand ray flew overhead.
"You dare have fun in my presence?" Pitch said incredulously. "I am the Boogeyman, and you will fear me!"
He ran after Jamie but the boy paid him no mind as he ran right through Pitch.
"No!" Pitch cried out. He gasped and put his hands on his chest at the feeling, staring at the retreating boy.
You, Jack, North, Tooth, and Bunny all stared at Pitch. He turned to look at you all with a sorrowful expression.
You couldn't help but feel a little pity for him. You knew exactly how he felt; always left empty on the inside whenever someone would walk right through you. It never got more bearable. Having Jamie and the other kids acknowledge you for the first time made you never want to feel that feeling again.
Without a second thought, Pitch sprinted away from the five of you. Behind the houses, down the slope going into the woods, and onto the frozen pond. The morning fog surrounding the area was diluted by the sun's rays as they filtered through the trees.
Pitch looked behind him for a moment once he got onto the icy pond and bounced into North's stomach, making him fall onto his back. Pitch looked up with wide eyes and saw that the rest of the Guardians along with you and Jack were right by the large man.
"Leaving the party so soon?" North asked as Pitch tried to scramble back with his hands on the ice.
"You didn't even say goodbye." Tooth flipped something small and circular with her fingers and tossed it to him.
Pitch caught it in the palm of his hand and let out a short, humorless laugh. "A quarter?" he asked with an almost offended look.
A second later, Tooth straight up socked the Boogeyman right in his face. He let out a yelp when Tooth's fist made contact. She punched him so hard she actually dislodged a tooth from Pitch's mouth.
"Whoa," you whispered with wide eyes. You made a mental note to never make Tooth angry.
Pitch felt the inside of his mouth for the gap and looked up in disbelief at her.
"And that's for my fairies," Tooth said, shaking her wrist slightly. A bunch of her tiny fairies flew in front of Pitch's face and chittered angerly at him.
"You can't get rid of me!" Pitch said as he clambered to his feet. "Not forever! There will always be fear."
"So what?" North said dismissively. "As long as one as one child believes, we will be here to fight fear."
"Really?" Pitched questioned. "Then what are they doing here?"
He gestured to the sides of the pond. Nightmares surrounded the area, whinnying and shaking their flowy manes. For once, you weren't intimidated by them. Seeing Pitch all alone at the mercy of the six of you made you realize how powerless he could really be when you faced your fears. His Nightmares were no more scary than he was.
North laughed. "They can't be my Nightmares. I'm not afraid."
You smirked, looking right into Pitch's eyes. "Not at all."
Realization dawned on the Boogeyman's face.
Jack stepped forward with a grin on his face. "Looks like it's your fear they smell."
Pitch looked like he got punched in the face again. He swiftly turned and raced away from the pond as the Nightmares galloped after him. The Nightmares were clearly faster than Pitch and quickly caught up to him. The black sand that formed the horses swirled around Pitch into a swirling sphere, raising him up high in the air. Your eyes widened as you watched the sand toss Pitch around the woods and disappear down the hole beneath the old bedframe in the clearing. His screams echoed throughout the area before being completely muted as the hole closed in on itself, the bedframe breaking apart and getting sucked down into the hole as well.
Everything was silent for a moment. The moon- still out in the early morning -cleared away the fog with its pale rays. You and Jack looked up at it with slightly narrowed eyes. Now that Pitch was gone for now, you weren't sure what was supposed to happen next. It was still a habit it seemed for you to look up at the moon when you needed inspiration or help.
Tooth's laugh snapped you out of your thoughts. She flew up to you and Jack and hugged the both of you tightly. She was even able to lift you two off the ground, surprising you with her strength. After she let go, Baby Tooth squeaked happily at you and Jack. You smiled at her excitement.
The Guardians walked up to stand in front of you both.
"Are you ready now, Jack, Y/n?" North asked. "To make it official."
The little tooth fairies fluttered their wings rapidly as they squeaked in excitement. An elf nearby threateningly hit a silver trumpet from the workshop into his palm. You would have never guessed those little guys would hold grudges.
Jack put his staff upright and stepped forward. He looked at you and couldn't help but smile when he did so. You gently slipped your hand into his free one, and he squeezed your hand gently. The two of you then looked at North and smiled wide at him.
Over the course of the entire adventure, you would have never imagined yourself to have gone through what you did. You teaming up with Jack and the Guardians, facing Pitch, becoming a tooth fairy for a night, Sandy dying, helping Bunny with the eggs, discovering your past, and so much more.
The adventure had made you realize how much the world really needed you and Jack. You were sure by taking a glance at his face that he felt the same way. Now that you finally had someone see you for the first time, you would do everything you could to keep doing what they believed in. You would do it all again if it meant in the end you could bring courage to the children so they could believe in themselves and in you.
"We're ready," you said.
A yeti walked up with the gigantic book from the workshop and handed it to North. More creatures from the fight gathered at the pond. Some giant stone eggs, more yetis, elves, the kids, and even some of the tiny painted eggs from the Warren loosely surrounded all of you.
"Then is time you both take oath," North started as he opened the book. "Will you, Jack Frost and Y/n L/n, vow to watch over the children of the world? To guard them with your life- their hopes, their wishes, and their dreams, for they are all we have, all that we are, and all that we will ever be."
You could sense Jamie's stare at your back, and you turned your head enough to see the boy with a gigantic smile on his face. Jack had done the same. Jamie's smile somehow got even bigger, and he gave a firm nod toward the two of you.
You and Jack turned back to face the Guardians.
This was it.
You and Jack squeezed each other's hand with equally big smiles on your faces as the two of you proclaimed, "I will."
"Then congratulations, Jack Frost and Y/n L/n- for you both are now and forever more, Guardians!" North announced joyfully, closing the large book.
The children, yetis, elves, and Guardians erupted into cheers. The moment felt so surreal. North lifted you and Jack up with his massive arms and kissed the two of you on your cheeks. Once he set you both down, he laughed at your bewildered expressions.
The little tooth fairies arranged themselves in the shape of a heart in the air in front of you and Jack, twittering happily. You could feel yourself becoming flustered and saw Jack simply chuckle. Now that you thought about it, the little tooth fairies had most likely seen you and Jack kiss for the first time during the snowball fight.
A single red rose sprouted up in the ground between you and Jack. The white haired boy noticed the flower and let out a soft laugh before picking it and holding it out to you. You smiled and gently took it from his hand, becoming even more flustered.
"Keep it together girls," Tooth rebuked the fairies gently.
One fairy at the bottom of the heart fainted, and you weren't sure if you should laugh or be concerned.
The sound of sleigh bells rang, interrupting your thoughts. The kids' cheering became even louder when North's sleigh with his reindeer landed on the pond. They oohed and ahhed when the impressive vehicle came into view. You would never get tired of seeing it.
You chuckled to yourself when you managed to hear Bunny say to North, "Everyone loves the sleigh."
North put his hands on your shoulder and Jack's. "Time to go."
He gave a look to Sandy. The golden man nodded and moved his hands around. Streaks of sand shot into the air from his hands and exploded into gold fireworks. The tiny bits of light from the explosions scattered all over the pond area, falling ever so slowly to the ground.
The Guardians made their way to the sleigh.
Bunny stayed behind for a little to say goodbye to Sophie. "Happy Easter, ya little anklebiter. Gonna miss you."
Sophie giggled and patted his nose in response. "Bye bye, Bunny."
You smiled when you saw their interaction. You were glad he was able to bring out that side of him. Still, you were never going to let him live any of it down anytime soon.
You and Jack turned to say goodbye to Jamie, only to see him with furrowed brows instead of the giant smile he had on just moments before.
"You guys are leaving?" Jamie asked, coming up to you and Jack. "But what if Pitch comes back? What if we stop believing again?" He turned his head downwards. "If I can't see either of you-"
"Hey, hey. Slow down, slow down," Jack quickly interrupted the boy, kneeling down in front of him with you following the action. "You're telling me you stop believing the moon when the sun comes up?"
"No," Jamie said softly.
"Okay, well, do you stop believing in the sun when clouds block it out?"
Jamie chuckled. "No."
Jack looked at Jamie straight in his eyes. "We'll always be there, Jamie. And now, we'll always be here-" He used his pointer finger to poke Jamie right where his heart was, "-which kinda makes you a guardian too."
"Just remember to keep believing what you do," you spoke up. "Even when everyone else doubts you, have the courage to keep believing what you believe in."
Jamie smiled at both of your words.
You and Jack smiled one last time before heading toward the sleigh.
"Jack! Y/n!" Jamie suddenly shouted.
Just as you and Jack turned back around to face him again, Jamie ran up and hugged the both of you tightly. Your breath hitched at the feeling of the boy physically touching you. It was almost overwhelming. Jack stood frozen with a shocked expression himself. It took both of you a moment, but you and Jack eventually hugged Jamie back eagerly.
Sadly, you had to go. You and Jack slowly walked over to the sleigh where the other Guardians were waiting. Once you and him got on the wing on the side of the sleigh, North snapped the reins, and the reindeer galloped into the sky. The kids cheered and waved to you all as the sleigh floated up into the air. Soon enough, they were just little specks in the distance.
Flying high in the sky on the sleigh now as a Guardian felt so amazing. You and Jack got inside the sleigh and made your way to the back of the vehicle, briefly acknowledging the other Guardians as you made your way. Jack immediately put your hand in his when you both got to the back.
"So..." Jack said, slowly meeting your eyes.
"What do we do now?" you asked.
"What do you want us to do?"
You hesitated for a moment. "I do want to be with you. Maybe...We just take it slow and figure out as we go along. This is really new to me."
"Me too. I do really like you. I've had a crush on you since...well since we've met." Jack rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand.
You giggled. "So have I." You squeezed his hand gently. "We can figure it all out together. We have the rest of time to do that."
Jack leaned in, and you eagerly met him halfway in a sweet kiss. You swore you felt a flurry swirl around inside of you when your lips touched again. You hoped whenever you kissed him, that feeling would never change.
When you met the Guardians, you never could have predicted the adventure you would go through in the span of a couple days days. Now that you and Jack were Guardians and had revealed your feelings to each other, you were sure you were going to be thrown into a whole new adventure.
A/N. That's the end! Hope the long wait was worth it. Sorry it took so long for me to get this out for you guys. To be honest, this was not the way I wanted the story to go exactly. There were a couple details I forgot to add in to make the story a little more rounded, and it came to a point where I couldn't go back and add in the details without making you all confused who were reading it as it was coming out. So I might go back later and add them in when I have the time and motivation. The details won't really change the story, it more just gives more character and depth to the reader. So if you come back to reread this story and some new lines have appeared, I edited the story. Anywho, thank you all so much for reading this! I hope you all enjoyed it! Comment and vote! -Anna
