Part 10
I woke up inside of a one man pod craft and immediately felt cold. I looked out the small 5 by 5 window and saw that I was at least 6 or 7 feet deep in ice. A recollection of what had happened went through my mind and I remembered arguing with Spock and then him ordering that I be sent off the ship. That bastard! I had tried to comfort him and help him out and what do I get? He maroons me on some random ice planet!
I could bet you he just wanted to get rid of me because I was becoming an "Emotional compromise" since I did the human thing and actually tried to help him after his mom died. I swear I am going to kick his Vulcan butt to fucking Mars when I see him next. That is if I can't get of whatever God forsaken planet this is.
"Computer, what Planet am I on?" I asked as I tried to sit up and get out of the pod craft. The moment I opened the door a whoosh of cold air hit my face and I noticed I was now wearing a dark brown wool jacket. Well at least somebody cared.
"Current location Delta Vega: Class "M" Planet, unsafe. The nearest Starfleet base is 7 miles from this destination. You have been ordered to remain in your pod until retrieved by Starfleet authorities" The computer in the pod craft told me. I scoffed " Bite me" I replied as I stood up and stretched out my legs. I can't believe that pointy eared ingrate decided to deport me Delta Vega of all bloody places. He could have at least left me on some tropical paradise. Where you could actually see the sun and my toes weren't completely numb! I would probably freeze to death out here!
I huffed as I saw that I now had to get out of the crevice the pod craft had made. It was only a 7 foot climb but it was still annoying. I rose my hands and jumped up to try and grab the edge of the crevice and managed to get a hand hold. I saw that my mood ring was a bright crimson red. Red probably stood for pissed the fuck off!
I grunted in effort as I heaved myself over the side of the crevice and rolled over Onto my back. I stood up and examined my surroundings. In absolutely every direction there was nothing but placid white ice and snow drifts. The sky was even a gross eggshell color and the wind whipped around me like crazy. I was in the middle of bloody nowhere!
" GOD FUCKING DAMMIT IT! THAT STUPID NECK PUNCHING SON OF BITCH!!!" I yelled out loudly and kicked a nearby pile of snow that exploded into hundreds of little flurries. I wanted to scream! I huffed chronically as I began walking, more like stomping away from the pod craft like a child having a tantrum. I think this is pretty tantrum worthy moment mind you!
After maybe 3 or 5 minutes of walking I pulled out my tricorder that at least would let me vent a little. I was supposed to use it in order to log in the event from the mission we were on. But evidently this wasn't a mission. "Lieutenant's log, supplemental: I'm preparing a testimonial for my Starfleet court martial assuming there's still even a Starfleet left" I began as I pulled my jacket closer. The wind was ridiculous and already was beginning to sting my cheeks and nose.
"Acting Captain Spock -- whose only form of expression is apparently limited to his left damn eyebrow -- has marooned me on Delta Vega in what I believe to be a violation of security protocol 49.097 governing the treatment of prisoners aboard a st--" I continued but stopped as a sudden low growl hit the air. I immediately froze and looked behind me. Great, now I was going to get eaten by whatever wild life somehow lives on this planet.
There was a second growl and throwing the hiring wind I made out a large figure that was roughly 40 yard away from my standpoint. It was maybe 12 feet tall and had a dusky white coat. It looked like a cross between a polar bear and gorilla with 5 inch long razor sharp fangs (Polarilla guys!).
I took a few steps back as I watched the creature and swallowed in fear. My heart was already pounding loudly and I knew the adrenaline was going to hit soon. The Polarilla suddenly let out out a guttural roar that sound like a Lion's and then charged.
I screamed and began sprinting away from the hairy monstrosity. The ice was slick and didn't allow for very good traction as I tried to evade the snarling beast that was gaining on me. I continued running as I heard it's thunderous footsteps that sounded like they were right behind me. I spared a quick glance and saw that it was maybe 10 yard away now.
I screeched again as it seemed the beast was just second from taking me down and eating me for breakfast. But suddenly the ground rumbled and a gigantic red monster that easily dwarfed the Polarilla emerged from one of the snow drifts like seemed a trap door spider. But there was no relation to the huge red alien and any sort of earthly creature when it's came to appearances. It was bright cherry red with four long spear like limbs that propelled the monster forward. It's head was mostly just a mouth of gnashing yellow teeth. When it roared the planet seemed to shake as I now ran away from the red alien.
It easily killed the Polarilla with a swift chomp to the neck and now decided to pursue me. I screamed again as new wave of terror washed over me and my blood seem to to turn to ice. I continued running away until it seemed that the floor underneath me disappeared.
I found myself tumbling down a large ice drop off. My body rolled down the hill clumsily and I curled myself into into a ball in order to minimize damage (Do I sound like Spock or what?). The ice crushed underneath my body as I finally came to a stop. Unfortunately, the large red monster had also taken a tumble down the drift as well. I yelped as I saw it coming down and quickly stood back up and returned to running away. The adrenaline pumping through me was reaching new heights as the red alien regained it's footing and started chasing me once again.
I almost screamed in joy when I saw what looked like the opening of a cave appear maybe 30 yard away. I sprinted like I had never sprinted before an damaged to get in through the entrance of the ice cave but the monster decided to follow.
Breaking through the ice of the cave and I stumbled as shards of ice rained down around me. I screeched as suddenly a long tentacle like thing grabbed my ankle and pulled me down. I turned around and could see the monster was using some sort of huge tongue thing to bring me to its mouth. I struggled and tried to find anything to hold onto. The monsters large wet and toothy mouth was just a few years away. It reached of sulfur and I knew this had to be the end for me.
But a figure dressed in a ragged Navy blue coat appeared and began to wave a torch in front of the creature who released my ankle. I gasped in relief as the red alien black alien way from the torch in fear. It hissed loudly but then left entirely. I was breathless for like the 4th time that day as I swallowed deeply. The figure turned to look at way me and and I now saw that it was a male Vulcan. Great. Just what I needed. I another bloody Vulcan.
A flash of recognition went across as looked at me and I stood up shakily. Using the wall of the cave to keep me stable " Jailee T. Kirk?" The Vulcan man asked I furrowed my eyebrows. I could see now that he was an elderly Vulcan with a weathered face and a large nose. He had similar eyes to Spock.
" How do you know my name?" I asked in a confused manner looking at the older Vulcan. He looked at me almost fondly as if remembering some distant memory. "You are and will forever be the love of my life" The old Vulcan claimed and scoffed in disbelief. Fantastic. I'm stuck on a planet with a chemically imbalanced Vulcan. Just my luck.
"Look buddy, I don't know who you are but I'm not you love or whatever" I replied and almost smiled a hit at the strange occurrence. He tilted his head as if he was puzzled. " I am Spock. 130 years prior to the Vulcan you know now" The older man claimed and I swear my eyebrows literally skyrocketed right of my forehead.
"Bull shit"
--Time skip--
I couldn't believe this guy. How on the right mind could he be Spock? The Spock that hated me. The one that maroon me on Delta fucking Vega!
He took me further into the cave where there was a warm flickering and I gladly took a seat next to its warmth. "Spock" or the guys who claimed he was Spock looked at me warmly "It's remarkably pleasing to see you again. Especially after the events that occurred today" Elder Spock told me. I still wasn't sure what to think of this guy but he had saved my life. I did my best to at least try and be polite.
" Uh Sir, I don't have any idea how you could be Spock. But I don't know you and if you are Spock we aren't in love or anything. We aren't even friends. In fact, you hate me. You marooned me here for mutiny" I explained and his thick brows furrowed in confusion. " Mutiny? You mean you are not the captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise?" Elder Spock asked.
" No, I'm not. You are. Captain Pike was taken hostage" I continued as I peeled off my jacket. It was rather toasty but I didn't mind. It beat freezing my hurt off. Or better yet, being slowly digested inside an alien. " He was taken by Nero...." Elder Spock said and his gaze drifted off.
I looked up at him in interest " What do you know about him?" I asked. I knew pretty much nothing about the very man who killed my father. " He is a remarkably..... troubled Romulan" Elder Spock claimed and I snorted. " No kidding" I added.
He then took several steps towards me and crouched to my level " Please allow me, it will make it easier" Elder Spock insisted as he outstretched his hand. I back away in surprise and caught his hand in mid stretch. " Uh wait.. er, what are you doing?" I asked narrowing my eyes at him as I held his hand from touching my face.
I had heard of Vulcan mind melds before but having a Vulcan in my head didn't sound enticing. Although, this Vulcan had knowledge of my Father's murderer. I reluctantly let go of his hand " Our minds... one and together" Elder Spock spoke as he place four of his fingers in specific places of my face. I gasped as my vision suddenly suddenly changed from a dank ice cave to a scene in space.
" This is 127 years from now" Elder Spock explained as I could now see a supernova explode and just ate away at anything around it. " A star in the Beta Quadrant will go supernova and like a cancer left untreated...it will grow... and destroy everything" Elder Spock continued as I watched through his eyes as an entire violet planet was engulfed into the supernova.
The scene suddenly changed and I now was in the Vulcan science academy. There were seven Vulcans standing around a holographic image of the supernova as they observed its rate of destruction. " I saw the beginning of it myself. Vulcan Science Academy devised a plan to stop it" Elder Spock informed me.
There was now a construction room where a strange ship that looked vaguely like a jellyfish sat. Inside the ship I then saw a glass orb that contained some sort of liquid red matter. A dozen Vulcan scientists worked around the orb in white containment suits. " We built a ship containing a material capable of generating the only thing powerful enough to consume a supernova. A black hole" Elder Spock said. So that red stuff must have been how Nero had destroyed Vulcan.
" I agreed to pilot the ship. Knowing I would not return" Elder Spock explained as I know saw him inside the Jellyfish fish in the pilot's seat. It was a noble cause. "Unfortunately... before I could begin the mission... the supernova destroyed Romulus" Spock said and I watched as a small dusky grey planet was devoured in the explosion.
" Nero's planet was destroyed" I stated and pulled my face back. Breaking the mind meld as I know was back in the dim cave looking at elder Spock in the flesh. " Yes. He of course blamed us. He Believed Vulcan allowed his planet to die. Which was hardly the case. Let me continue" Elder Spock insisted as he once more rose his hand but I stoped it again.
" Can we not it's wierd feeling" I argued sounding kind of like a child. I mean it felt like someone had a grasp on my head in a weird kind of way. If Vulcans could roll their eyes I'm sure Elder Spock would have. " Yes I know, I'm not surprised to hear you complain. Allow me to finish" Elder Spock responded and put his four fingers back on my face.
I once again delved into the mind meld. I watched as the Narada Fired torpedoes at the jellyfish ship. "Nero came after me. Determined to thwart my mission" Elder Spock continued as I watched him struggle to evade the torpedoes in the jellyfish ship.
" I needed an exit. I knew if this mission failed... everyone, everywhere... would lose everything" Elder Spock claimed as I saw him exit the cockpit and enter the room where the red matter stuff was.He took giant syringe like tool and neared the orb with caution. " I realized: a large black hole could destroy the supernova. A smaller one... could be my escape. Could send me back in time, allowing me to complete my mission. So I created a black hole..." Elder Spock said as I watched him inject the giant syringe into the orb an extract just the smallest amount of the red matter.
He the proceeded to the airlock where he sent the capsule containing the red matter straight into space. And the rushed back into the cockpit and shot at the now airborne capsule that burst into a black hole. A gaping pit of vast darkness that seemed endless. Elder Spock quickly veered his ship toward the hole in a rush. " Nero must have understood what I was trying to do. Because he began racing for it" Elder Spock continued and I saw now that the Narada was charging for the black hole. And Nero Ended up getting there first and it seemed a lighting storm in space as it entered the black hole. And then vanished.
"Nero simply got to it first. How long I was travelling... I couldn't tell you. It was timeless. But when I arrived... he was waiting for me" Spock claimed as he now went through black hole and appeared in front of the Narada. A mere speck next to the monstrosity of a ship.
I inhaled sharply as I pushed his hand away. My head was spinning as a mixture of emotions came over me. My eyes began to water as I felt Elder Spock's emotions merge further with mine. I doubted him before but now I wholesomely agreed with him. Former Spock was right. Nero was from the future and so was elder Spock. " Forgive me... emotional transference is an effect of the mind meld" Elder Spock told me as I gathered myself. I absently wiped my eyes with the sleeve of my shirt.
"Going back in time... you changed all our lives" I stated and Spock nodded. It was how the Narada had come in contact with my father's ship all those years ago. " Yet remarkably, events within our timelines, characteristics, people... seem to overlap significantly. Tell me about the rest of the crew? Chekov-- Uhura?" Spock asked.
I rose a brow but complied " He's in tactical and she's in communication" I replied.
" Sulu?"
" He is the Helmsman. Why?" I asked curiously as I stood up. "Dr. McCoy would assert our meeting here is not a matter of coincidence... but rather, indication of a higher purpose" Elder Spock claimed and I nodded.
I smirked " He would call it a damn miracle" I said mimicking his country accent. Elder Spock's lip just barely upturned and I think that's what Vulcans would consider a smile. " We will need to get going. There's a StarFleet outpost not that far from here" Elder Spock started as he began to walk towards the entrance of the cave.
I caught up with him and stopped him " Wait, where you come from... was my father alive?" I asked hopefully. Elder Spock nodded after a beat of thought " Yes, he was. You often referred to him as your inspiration to joining Starfleet" Elder Spock replied.
" He lived to see you become captain of the Enterprise" Elder Spock added. I grinned a little at the thought " Captain?" I asked and Spock nodded.
I smiled as I imagined what my life would have been if I my father hadn't died. I had often wished as a child to get do things with my father as normal daughters were able to. Like going to the playground in elementary school with him on warm spring days. Or staying up on late on the weekends and movies while eating buttered popcorn until I fell asleep. Seeing him in the crowd with a proud smile on his features as he watched me become the Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Unfortunately... in this world, all of these thoughts were nothing but figments of my imagination. They never actually happened to me and never would. ( I feel like that was some of my deepest writing ever)
I sniffed as I put on my thick coat before following him out of the cave. My inspiration to join StarFleet had been Pike and now I had to save him. He was my father figure in this world. But right now I needed to get back to the Enterprise somehow and relay this information with Former Spock.
That is if he would listen to me.
