Chill 19

As soon as she woke up, butterflies began dancing in Nisha's stomach. Despite what she had hoped, she was still insanely nervous. For better or for worse, my life will be completely changed today, she thought solemnly.

Then a knock at her door pulled her out of her thoughts and reminded her that her day was just beginning. A servant silently entered, pausing before bowing to her. In the servant's hands was a tray with a light breakfast. There would be so much food later in the day that she didn't need to eat too much now. Smiling in thanks, she sat up in her bed as the servant brought the tray to her.

"Good morning," she greeted the servant. "I appreciate you coming in to wake me every morning." She wasn't completely sure, but she guessed it was always the same servant. Jack had said the name Tina before, but she didn't want to say a name if it turned out she was wrong. Even living her for a little more than a month now, she hadn't been able to figure out how to tell the Shadow people apart. Her hope was that eventually she would, since she hated treating them all like they were one person.

The servant bobbed their head in another quick bow before moving about her room. As Nisha started on her breakfast, she followed the servant with her eyes. This will be the last time I'm in this room, she realized. The remodeling of the old Master suite had finished up yesterday, though her and Jack wouldn't be officially moved in until tonight. While the actually wedding was going on, the servants would be moving their stuff into the room, leaving behind any furniture that wasn't personal or needed. So, mostly their cloths and personal effects, plus some of their decorations.

Twenty minutes later, she was finishing up her breakfast and the servant had finished filling up the tub and pulling out her things. They motioned to the bathroom, bowing her to it. She murmured her thanks again before moving into the bathroom. Closing the door behind her, she lifted a hand to her chest. She had begun wearing the soul-stone, as Jack called it, all the time, even when she went to bed. She still wore the snowflake necklace, but she made sure to take it off at night. Nisha wasn't quite sure why she had begun wearing the soul-stone so regularly. Perhaps it had to do with what Jack had said before, about how it was their true 'wedding ring' so to speak?

Shaking her head to clear it of those thoughts, she quickly undressed before sinking into the tub. The hot water felt amazing and she let out a small moan of appreciation. Pausing, she glanced back down at her necklace. Her hands reached up to start removing the stone, but she stopped suddenly. No, some part of her protested. I won't remove it ever again. She wasn't sure where the decision had come from, but it felt like the right thing to do. Shrugging, she continued with her bath.

She had been allowed to sleep in today, so by the time she was finished with her bath it was ten in the morning. She was standing on a footstool, with three servants fluttering all around her, carefully placing the dress on her body. A soft knock followed the entrance of Grace, Glacia, Millie and Peri. Grace was dressed in a dark blue dress suit, her grey eyes alight with excitement and joy. Glacia wore a pale blue cocktail dress. Millie was in a teal princess-cut dress, with light grey trim, playing the flower girl. Peri was Nisha's Maid of Honor in a lavender colored dress, with grey underskirt and ruffles along the edges of the sleeves and skirt.

The younger females let out squeals of delight and shock when they saw Nisha, even half-dressed, in her wedding gown. "Sister, you look amazing!" Millie exclaimed. Nisha still found it really weird to be addressed as such by the younger girl.

"Oh my gods, Nisha...You're gonna give Jack a heart-attack, with that level of beauty," Peri grinned widely.

Blushing, Nisha glanced down to the ground. Her grandmother's voice made her look back up. Grey eyes exactly like hers smiled a few feet in front of her. "I don't want to hug you and ruin all the hard work the servants have put in. But, Snowflake...you're so beautiful. I only wish your father were alive to see you like this. I'm so proud." The older woman's eyes began to tear up and she quickly raised a shaking hand to stem their flow.

Glacia's voice sounded a little water as well, though there were no tears in her brown eyes. "You do look amazing, Nisha. I'm proud to be able to call you my daughter."

Nisha turned a startled expression to her. It was going to take her awhile longer to think of these people as her family. But over the past week, she and Glacia had come to a fragile truce, an understanding of one another, if only a little. "T-thank you...M-Mother," she whispered. Glacia actually blushed faintly, surprising Nisha even more, before smiling happily.

The five spent the next hour and a half chatting together as the servants finished getting her ready. Nisha was thankful for the company. Being surrounded by others made it so she didn't have the free time to be left alone with her thoughts. It helped calm her nerves a little, since her mind wasn't spinning around in endless circles. But by eleven thirty, she was completely ready.

Her hair had been arranged until it framed her face and fell around her shoulders and down her back in gentle, but large curls. It had taken quite awhile, with three servants working all around her, to get her hair and makeup designed to their approval. Slowly, she rose from the chair they had placed her in and took a few steps forward. Two servants appeared with a full-length mirror, holding it up so that she could see herself. The other women let out low gasps and murmurs of approval and awe.

The dress was grand with a mermaid body design that bottomed out into lace tulle after reaching the knees. The sweetheart neckline was layered with lace and thread embroidery appliqués, that covered the whole dress. The design was flowery, but with frozen flowers, to represent the whole theme of not only the WinterPalace but also the family Nisha was marrying into. The flowers had been hand stitched with painstaking detailed. The whole dress was a light, icy blue.

The edges of the flowers were ivory white, like a normal wedding dress, representing the frost on their petals. The back of the dress was see-through lace until the middle of the back, where it became solid again, with the zipper going along the spine of the dress. The veil was attached with a thin diamond hair band, and the lace was detailed with large and small snowflakes, all different shapes. Along the edges of the veil, frost-like layers of lace had been hand-stitched as well. The train of the veil was twenty feet. On her hands, she wore a pair of matching gloves, with frost designs along the backs of the fingers and the end of her elbow. The gloves were there both to look nice and also to offer her some protection from the cold of Jack's hands when she reached him at the end of the aisle.

Around her neck, she had the soul-stone and also the snowflake necklace, resting over her breasts. Her father couldn't be here in person. But he could be in spirit, with one of the last things she had left of him.

From what Glacia had told her, it had taken a team of twenty workers over the past week to make the entire ensemble from hand. They had not been able to find a dress any of them could agree upon when they went to the boutique on Saturday. Instead, after two hours of trying on dresses, the five of them had put their heads together and began designing a dress themselves. And with the help of two designers who had been at the boutique at the time, this masterpiece had been the result.

Nisha had fought the whole cold, winter-theme idea at first. But even she had to agree that the dress was stunning. Everything about it was perfect and she loved it, even if it did remind her of the cold. She couldn't help but smile brightly, forced to admit that she looked as beautiful as everyone said she did.

"I'm so happy right now...Thank you, Nisha," Glacia whispered softly. When she turned to look at the woman, she saw tears were actually pooling in her eyes. Glacia quickly stopped them with a handkerchief a servant held out to her. If she didn't her makeup would be ruined and all over her face. The older woman glanced over at Millie. "I can't wait until you become a bride as well, Millie. You'll look just as beautiful as your older sister."

Millie blushed deeply, her brown eyes bright. "I honestly don't think I'll be able to top this, Mom," she admitted.

Peri laughed. "I still have three weeks before I'm married and now I'm feeling the burn of jealousy. Nisha, you really do look amazing."

Blinking, Nisha's mouth opened in a small 'O' of shock. That's right, she realized, feeling awful from guilt. I've been so caught up in my own problems I completely forgot about Peri's. Staring directly into her friend's hazel eyes, she smiled brightly. "Peri, there's no reason to feel jealous. Each bride is beautiful and amazing. None of us are better or worse than the last. I'll be there for you, on your wedding day. And I'll be just as amazed by your beauty, feeling everything you are now. I'm going to be your Maid of Honor, just like you're mine, right?"

Peri sucked in a sharp breath, fighting not to cry. Nisha's voice was filled with a sincerity that made her heart hurt. What was I thinking? she asked herself. Even if I'm crazy nervous, thinking about my own wedding, Nisha's right. Every bride is beautiful and there's no reason to try and turn it into a competition. "You bet!" she said aloud with enthusiasm. She had been shocked when she heard the rumors a week ago and even more so when she saw her human friend at school on Monday. Despite what she expected, Nisha was holding herself together pretty well. She kept her head held high and her spine straight against all the murmurs about her being a slut and the wedding being a shotgun wedding to hide the fact that she was pregnant. None of this had been within hearing distance of Jack though, for no one wanted to risk his fury. But Peri had stayed by her side, supporting her as best as she could. Still though, it was both amazing and shocking to her that a friend she had made just a month ago was going to be getting married before she even was. Even more so since that friend was being so strong and mostly calm about it.

Glacia cleared her throat after a moment. "We should begin heading to the ballroom for the wedding then," she instructed. Leading the way, she walked out of the room. The others followed after only a few moments, two servants lifting up the train of Nisha's dress while another carried the end of her veil. She followed behind a little slower than the rest. Her steps had to be small and careful, between the heels and the dress she was wearing.

The wedding would take place in the ballroom. After the ceremony everyone would move to the North dining hall, the one that was four times the size of the normal one she ate in with the Frost family. While the reception and feast was going on, the servants would be cleaning up the ballroom and redecorating it. But since the entire reception was expected to take two hours, with the feast, they would have more than enough time with a group of twenty of them working. Everything had been very neatly planned out ahead of time.

It took twenty minutes to make it to the ballroom, with how slow Nisha had to move and how far away the room was from her bedroom. Jack, she knew, was already sitting down in one of the many benches that had been placed in the ballroom, waiting for another five minutes before he would rise to his feet and take his place. They had had the wedding rehearsal last night after school and it had been a strange mixture of nervous and calm for her. Which is how she felt right now. Internally she was being eaten alive with nerves, but externally she looked mostly calm.

The servants fluttered around her, brushing at invisible pieces of lint and straightening her dress and veil. They seemed just as nervous as she felt, even if they didn't make a sound. The others all shifted in anticipation next to the closed doors. Through the thick wooden doors, Nisha could hear the sounds of the guests, who had already been seated for the past five or so minutes.

Glacia cleared her throat once more, glancing over at Nisha. "Everyone, take your places, please." Grace moved to stand beside Nisha, taking her arm in hers. She had decided that her grandmother would be the one to give her away, as her only close family. Millie lined up in front of Nisha, a servant handing over her little basket of snowdrops and pale purple asters. Peri stood in front of Mille, with Glacia staying behind, acting as the wedding planner. Another servant handed Nisha's bouquet over to her, which she took with a small smile. White roses were in the center, with dark purple orchids mixed in, and lighter lavender flowers along the edges. Wrapped around the bouquet was a dark teal ribbon with light grey, winding lines and swirls running through the ribbon.

The sounds of the 'Wedding March' filled the ballroom and echoed out into the hallway. Nisha swallowed nervously as the servants opened the double doors. And in perfect succession and sync, just like they had practiced the night before, the wedding party began to walk down the aisle.

Her breath caught as she took in the ballroom. It had been done in the color scheme she and Jack had decided on. The teal was in varying shades of dark, medium, and light, with grey and splashes of purple accenting it all. White and purple orchids hung from the walls and wrapped around the many pillars in the ballroom. Along the ends of the benches, small bouquets of white roses, purple asters, and lavenders had been placed. Thin vines with snowdrops threaded through them had been hung from the backs of the benches. The carpet that she walked over was dark teal with grey edges. White petals had been scattered all over it, showing up brightly against the teal.

At the end, Jack stood in a grey tuxedo. Black wouldn't have suited the color scheme and teal and light purple wouldn't have looked very good as a tuxedo. His bright blue eyes were sparkling as they met her grey ones. A smile that could have lit the whole room spread across his face as he took her in after Peri and Millie had reached the end of the aisle and took their respective places. Nisha nearly tripped at the sight of that smile. Her grandmother saved her, both from actually tripping and keeping it from looking like she nearly did.

She kept a firm, happy smile on her face, fighting to stay calm. But the butterflies in her stomach were going nuts now. The two made it to the end of the aisle as the music came to a stop. Jack's eyes were latched onto her and hadn't moved a millimeter since she had entered the ballroom.

The crowd had stayed completely silent in an amazed hush. They all knew she was a human and many were shocked that she could look so good. Weren't humans suppose to be less than Others in every way? Weren't they suppose to be less beautiful, less intelligent, and less skilled? After all, they were held back by the restraints of humanity. But this young woman looked just as good as any Other of beauty and it left more than a few royal families lamenting they had not found her first. With her beauty and newfound connection to the Canis family, she was a very nice catch indeed for the Frost family to have secured. Even if there were rumors that she was already with child and this whole wedding was just to cover it up.

In the very back, nearest to the door and all alone so he could stretch out, Slender Man clapped quietly. He couldn't smile, but in his lap, his whiteboard was filled with smiling emojis and dozens of little hearts.

Aaron Jaris, Trevor Jaris' father, tried to keep himself from swearing under his breath. His eldest son, Trevor, sitting beside him was watching Nisha like she was a piece of meat. Aaron subtly reached over and hit the back of his son's head.

Two benches down, closer to the front, Catalina Draco seethed in her seat. Nathan would have been a much better match! That damned Glacia Frost! Her luck in catching this human is infuriating! Sitting next to her, his gold eyes filled with a distant, polite interest, was Nathan Draco.

Toward the very front, sitting with his parents and grandfather, Alec watched Nisha walk down the aisle. He struggled to keep a kind smile on his face. Internally, he was beginning to feel the first real pricks of jealousy and infatuation. Nisha was beautiful, spell-binding. He had only seen her in her normal casual clothes and a relatively simple dress once before. She had been beautiful in the dress for the Autumn Equinox. But seeing her now, in her wedding dress, she was so stunning it left his mind almost blank.

Next to him, Lionel felt joy. Joy mixed with regret. He had been planning to find a way to force the engagement between Nisha and Jack to end. He felt Alec would be a much better match. Even if they were family, they were second cousins, which was perfectly acceptable for a marriage between royals. Unfortunately, he had been too late. The very next day, Nisha and Jack's wedding had been announced to the public. Lionel stared at her slim stomach critically. It was too soon to know if she was with child. And if she was, there was no guarantee the child would have any real magic in its blood.

Sighing, he forced back the regret and let the joy fill him. A smile pulled at his lips. He had found what remained of his older brother's bloodline. He was ecstatic about that. He was also quite amazed that Nisha had not been born with any magic, if even a little. His brother had been quite powerful. Perhaps the magic would skip a generation, coming into full light with the mingling of the Frost's magic?

He grinned at the thought. If so, it would be quite an interesting mix. Cold, ice, and frost coming together with heat, fire, light, and darkness?

The child shall be very powerful if that happens. Perhaps even more so than the father.

Most Others were careful to keep their breeding tendencies among like-types. Fire stuck with complementary Others, as did all the other many elements. Rare was it for different ones to mix. Lionel had also never heard of opposites coming together either. If nothing else, most often the sheer differences in natures made it impossible for a coupling to happen. But strange things always happened when human genes were thrown into the mix.

He grinned more. Perhaps it is better this way. If Nisha and Alec had come together, they would have most likely just made a slightly inferior or superior human and hellhound hybrid. But Ice and Fire as one? Now I hope she is with child! He swallowed back a giggle of excitement. He could only imagine what a child of that nature would be like and did not envy the Frost family with the rearing of such a child. If anything, it gave him glee to know that an old rival would be suffering so.

Back at the end of the aisle, the priest glanced down at the bride and her grandmother. "Who brings this daughter to be wed?" he asked formally, his graying brown hair close-shaved and his green-yellow eyes kind.

Grace stepped forward. "I do, sir. I, Grace Michelle Caldwell present Nisha Nicole Caldwell to be wed." Grace gently pulled Nisha forward slightly and they both bowed their heads.

The priest smiled warmly. "And quite the beautiful daughter to be wed. Please, child, step forward." Nisha did, Jack reaching out to take her hand in his. They faced toward the priest, though she could still see him out of the corner of her eyes. The priest pitched his voice to be heard from by the others. "Before we begin, I must ask if there is any who protest this union? If so, speak now or forever hold your silence."

The ballroom fell completely silent as the priest waited for exactly fifteen seconds. Nisha could feel her nerves even more in that silence that was so complete, it seemed to echo in her ears. When no one spoke, he nodded his head. "Alright. Let us begin, shall we?" He cleared his throat, focusing his gaze on the two teenagers before him. In his mind, he felt they were perhaps a little too young for this step.

But when he looked into the happy light of the young man's eyes, he smiled. And when his gaze dropped for a second to the stone that hung around the young woman's neck, he instantly understood. He was quite shocked, but he understood. In their hearts, in their souls, these two were already married. All of this was just a formality, a physical manifestation of their feelings and love for one another. It made the old priest's heart fill with quiet joy, knowing that such young ones could have found the one they loved so soon in their lives. The sooner found, the more years they could enjoy with one another.

"We have been invited here today to witness and celebrate the uniting in marriage of Nisha Caldwell and Jack Frost. They are taking the first step of their new beginning; their new life together. The ability and desire for one to love another is perhaps the most precious and fulfilling gift that has been entrusted to us." The priest's voice was both slow and serious. But there was also a layer of warmth and joy in his voice, celebrating this occasion as much as anyone else.

"It is an all-consuming task, a lifelong endeavor-the journey we've been preparing for all of our lives. Loving someone is a reason to stretch beyond our limits, to become more for the sake of the other. It is to look into the soul of your beloved and accept what you see. Loving is the ultimate commitment which challenges us to become all that we are meant to be. As they join in marriage today, Nisha and Jack are announcing to the world that they are welcoming that challenge."

The priest paused to catch his breath. His smile grew even more as he gazed at the two. He winked slightly, enough that they could see, before continuing. "Marriage is the most intimate of all relationships. It is the ultimate commitment to love, share, trust, and grow with another person. It is the beginning of a whole new life. Nisha and Jack are proclaiming their love for, their trust in and their loyalty to the one they cherish above all others. Marriage has been described as living in love with your best friend. Love is one of the few constants in the universe. It is reality, affinity and communication. Only love is capable of joining living beings by their deepest essence, uniting, completing and fulfilling them. And so, let us bring their marriage into being. Please, repeat after me."

"I, Jack Ledus Frost, take you, Nisha Nicole Caldwell-"

"I, Nisha Nicole Caldwell, take you, Jack Ledus Frost-"

"-to be no other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, trusting what I do not yet know. I will respect your integrity and have faith in your abiding love for me, through all our years, and in all that life may bring us."

"Nisha, I take you as my wife-"

"Jack, I take you as my husband-"

"-with your faults and your strengths, as I offer myself to you with my own faults and my strengths. In sickness and health, through better or worse, I shall remain by your side. I choose you as the person with whom I will spend my life, for now and all of eternity."

"The rings will be exchanged as a physical manifestation of this marriage," the priest motioned his hands out. A young boy who was evidently a distant cousin of Jack's on his mother's side stepped forward. On a grey pillow were two simple silver wedding bands. Or, that's what Nisha thought before Jack lifted her left hand up, holding it so that he could slip the ring on her finger. The rings were engraved along the outside in tiny, minute, painstaking detail. The engraving was a thin trail of white frost that slowly unwound into a small, blooming flower. In the very center of the flower was a tiny, bright sapphire stone, the only color to the ring. Jack's ring was a mirror of hers, only the frost was a slightly darker shade, the flower a diamond.

Her lips parted in awe at the simple, but loving detail of the rings. She glanced up into Jack's face, seeing his slightly smug expression at her reaction. I thought he said he wasn't going to get anything fancy, she thought in a dizzy reel of shock. Numbly, she placed his ring of his finger, still trying to digest the sheer beauty of the rings. She was left feeling breathless, as they were perfect.

The priest took in the silent exchange between the couple, smiling himself. The bride's reaction was adorable and the groom's smug happiness at leaving her speechless was evident to the priest. Trying to not laugh, he continued. "The union of these two shall be cemented in a kiss. You may kiss the bride," he said formally.

His eyes dancing, Jack pulled her a little closer, lifting her chin up. Her eyes fluttered half-close as she instinctively leaned into his body. Their lips met and Nisha almost felt a strange spark of electricity run down her spine. She shivered against Jack, who had to fight to pull back. As she blinked up at him in a daze, his eyes were slightly darker, filled with an intense heat and a promise for more. She shivered again, for a different reason. Right before the priest was about to clear his throat to remind the two they were in public, Jack pulled back enough to be acceptable in the eyes of others. His left hand with the ring clenched against his side as he fought to keep the roaring lust in his blood from showing.

"I now pronounce you two husband and wife," the priest declared in a loud voice. Jack turned Nisha so that they were facing their audience. Everyone rose to their feet, clapping and cheering. The ring boy stepped back to allow them room to move. He returned to Jacob's side, who had been the Man of Honor for Jack in a white tuxedo.

Nisha shifted the bouquet in her right hand. Her left she placed back into Jack's as they began the walk back to the front of the ballroom. They would lead the way to the North dining hall for the reception and feast. Jack's hold on her hand was a strange mixture of tight and gentle. The cheering and applause continued as they walked toward the double doors. Once they reached them, they were granted a minute of freedom and time to theirselves. The crowd had yet to catch up, but they were very close behind as people moved out of their seats.

Jack glanced down at Nisha, his lips lifting in a wide, happy smile. "It's nice to finally meet you, Mrs. Jack Frost."

She gulped, staring into his eyes for a few fragile seconds. Then, nodding, she smiled a little herself. "I'm glad to be here, Mr. Nisha Frost."

He laughed at her reply, which was technically wrong. He squeezed her hand in his, pulling their joined hands up so they could see them. The sapphire of her wedding ring winked back in the light of the hallway. "I've been waiting for what seems like forever for this day, hjarta mítt. Thank you, for giving it to me. It's the second best day of my life. The first was when you asked me to marry you and took the soul-stone from my chest. Even if you don't remember it, it's a precious memory to me, one that I cherish close to my heart. And now I have one more to hold close." Shifting, he leaned down to kiss her again.

The sound of the others drawling closer made him pull back. "Ah," he sighed. "The rest shall have to wait for later. For now, we have guests to entertain and people to feed. Come, my love. Onward we go." He stepped forward, Nisha following. He quickly realized how restricting her dress was, and slowed his pace to a more comfortable one for her to walk. After a few seconds, she felt a shift in weight and glanced behind her. Three servants were helping with her dress once again. She waved her bouquet in thanks before turning her attention forward and focusing on walking in the troublesome heels.

Jack hid a smile above her head. His heart was going to burst, he was so filled with joy. He had finally done it. He had kept his soul-binding promise to Nisha, whether she had any memory of it or not. He had married her, made her his wife; bound them together in the eyes of their families and everyone they knew. He glanced down at the top of her head, which was mostly covered up by the diamond headband that the veil was attached to.

He recalled the feeling of his stomach dropping when he caught sight of her. Despite himself, he was glad that he hadn't been part of choosing her wedding dress. It had certainly been a sight, seeing her in it for the first time, in all her glory. And it was a memory he planned to keep in his heart for the rest of his life. But he was certainly glad there had been a dozen photographers and two video-recorders for later on in their lives.

Ten minutes later they made it to the dinning hall. The guests were only two minutes behind them as Jack and Nisha moved to the seats of honor. For today, at least, they were in higher standing than even his parents. The guests were quietly directed to their seats, which had name cards, as well as menus. The cards and menus were a light lavender shade with a sweeping, cursive hand in white. The table cloths were a very light shade of teal, close to a turquoise color. The flowers that had been in the ballroom were reflected in the dinning hall as well, filling the hall with the pleasant scents of the flowers.

The feast began ten minutes later, once everyone had been seated. And what an event it was! The royals of the Other realm were quite impressed. Everything went off without a hitch, including the dance between the newlyweds, after the feast. By then everyone had returned to the ballroom for the wedding ball itself. The celebration was grand, loud, joyous, and filled with eloquence.

Nisha swiftly got caught up in the entire event. She danced with so many different men, young and old. Jack always found a way to dance with her the most, though he was also forced to dance with many of the women. Everyone wanted three minutes with the bride and groom. Everyone wanted to be introduced to the new couple, to take in their own impressions of them. And most especially, everyone wanted to formally be introduced to the human girl who had suddenly risen in the ranks of royals in little more than a month.

Finally though, eight o'clock came. The party settled down for a few short minutes as the drunken adults and teenagers and children, who were drunk on the atmosphere, called for the honeymoon to begin. Nisha's face was bright red and Jack merely chuckled. The crowd cheered when he swept her up into his arms and began walking out of the ballroom. The cheers and heady laughter followed them out into the hallway. Nisha was mortified. No one had warned her that it would be...public knowledge.

Jack shook his head at her annoyed expression once they were alone in the hall. He still held her as he strolled toward their new bedroom. "Don't be too upset," he grinned. "Besides, it's all meant in good fun. They're just teasing."

She leaned her head against his chest, her veil and train of her dress fluttering out behind them as he walked. "Well, I don't appreciate their teasing. They could have been a little more discreet about it," she grumbled.

Jack stayed silent, simply holding her a little closer. Nisha wanted to ask him if she was much too heavy for him to carry. But at the same time, she was a little afraid to ask. Knowing Jack, he would probably give her a very blunt answer. And also knowing Jack, it would most likely be one saying that she was so fat he felt his arms would fall off. She bit her lip, her brows pulling together into a small frown at the thought.

Eight minutes later, they reached the door to their new bedroom. Jack paused only long enough to twist the knob before pushing the door open with his foot. "Well, welcome to our new life together, wife," he murmured. Slowly, after crossing the threshold, he lowered her to her feet.
