Chapter twelve-a knights honor
She smashed through the doors and instantly knocked two knights aside with a gust of icy wind. She came to see the third general, the demonic mega knight Akure.
A twinge of regret surged through her.
Akure was, in a way, the "nicest" of the four generals; he always respected her and even supported some of her choices. So why would he still fight against her? Clearly, he would've seen the sheer amount of evil within the actions of her father.
In front of her, another knight captain tried to attack her. Frost flipped the knight over her head and smashed his head onto the ground with an icy fist.
She drew her arm and swung it in a wide arc, killing the other two knights with an ice dagger to the chest each.
There were four archers. Two were positioned on the floor, while the other two were positioned high in a raised position on arcs behind them. As all four loaded their crossbows and lit them aflame, she figured it wasn't Hellfire that blazed from those arrows.
The first two archers fired their bows. She rolled to the side and narrowly avoided being hit by the flaming arrows.
She took out a shield made of ice and blocked two more arrows before causing the center of the shield to open. Then a beam of energy fired from the center, freezing the two archers solid.
She was gonna shatter them when pain flared from her left leg as a flaming arrow found its way into her leg.
She yelped and fell onto one knee, keeping her shield up to block the second arrow.
She hissed and froze the arrow solid before she snapped it with her hand. Her wound slowly healed. It was healing slowly due to the magical fire that was being used in the arrows.
She rushed forward while blocking two more arrows and slammed her shield into the first arc. It toppled and the archer fell to the ground. He was subsequently crushed by the rocks fall.
She took her shield and threw it into the arc that held the second archer, breaking its support and also causing it to crumble.
The archer was lucky enough to not get crushed though. She walked over and curb-stomped its head.
With her wound healed completely, she no longer felt any pain. She turned and faced the sword-wielding knight demon and summoned two swords of her own.
She crossed them, sharpening them even more, and said, "You respected me, even supported me. Why support my father when I know you know what he did? It was forbidden!"
The knight demon drew his sword and got into a stance similar to that of a mortal knight from the Medieval era with his sword laid over his left arm.
"Nothing personal, Frost," he replied after a few moments.
"So you'll follow my father, your "lord" who just committed an unforgivable offense against the cosmic order!?" she asked him.
The knight demon sighed and said "I don't agree with what your father did, but he forcefully bonded my essence to a jar. If he destroys it, he will absorb my essence, unless he is killed. Which is impossible. Whether I like it or not, I'm stuck doing his dirty work.”
Frost growled. It wasn’t an excuse, it was a legitimate reason for his refusal to join her side.
It was possible to forcibly bond a demon's essence to a specific figure or object through powerful magic. If that object or figure or killed or destroyed, the connected beings’ essence is destroyed as well.
Frost would have to change that somehow.
Unfortunately, she never had time to think of a plan as Akure rushed her. He slammed his sword in front of her and sent a wave of sparks towards her, which she barely deflected.
Using her newfound strength, she smashed a fist into the ground and grabbed a large rock. She tossed it at the demon, who sliced it in half.
Resummoning her two swords, she engaged the demon and her swords clashed against his far larger greatsword.
They stood there in a battle of attrition, seeing who would give in first as each sword user pushed harder.
Suddenly he ducked under his sword and created more sparks. Frost ducked and slashed at his legs, causing him to fall onto one knee. She knew it would not be enough to bring him down as she watched his wound heal quickly.
Swinging the sword with the flat of his blade, he slammed into Frost and sent her flying back but this time, she kept her footing.
She looked up to see him lunge forward and slam his sword into the ground. Which she avoided before sent back to Akure by dragging her sword up through the ground.
Frost rolled backward to regain her footing as she charged an orb of energy and threw it at the knight, who blocked it with his own energy shield.
"Then fight!" she yelled.
"I am fighting!" he roared back.
"Not against me, against my father!" Frost implied.
He halted for a second, then appeared to consider it. He sighed sadly "if we do that, then he will destroy me as well.”
Frost sighed. She was afraid of this.
"Then it's not personal for me as well," she said sadly and charged forward.
He raised his sword and blocked her strike as she teleported behind him. She struck him in the back, knocking him forward and onto his feet.
Meanwhile within the primary chamber, Vivitullus conversed with a previously unknown being.
This being had two massive pitch black wings. It hovered about ten feet off the ground and he had an angled bird-like helmet that displayed nothing but his two glowing orb-like eyes that glowed with evil intelligence. His chest was covered in black armor with a pale grey diamond within its center.
He spoke to Vivitullus in a soft voice, "Your "daughter" as you call her has proven to be a bigger problem then we've previously anticipated.”
Vivitullus growled and nodded, "yes, now she is quite literally Hell-bent on taking my essence and banishing it from existence,"
The figure nodded and then glanced. "you have company," he murmured.
An imp commander frantically ran into the throne room and reported, "lord-lord, Frost has killed the first two generals and ninety-nine percent of the guard legions-!"
Vivitullus was shocked, "WHAT-!?"
The figured shook his head, " It seems we have underestimated her skill and resolve,"
Vivitullus snarled in anger and shock, "reply to the rest of the troops. What of the angels?"
"We've slowly begun to beat them back, but they’re holding steadily" reported the imp leader.
He snarled and nodded, "that’ll do for now, just keep her contained until our deal can pass!"
The imp commander nodded and said "yes lord!" the Imp croaked to a nearby imp who nodded and flew into the room in front of them.
Back with Frost
She had disarmed Akure and knocked him off balance.
"You remember your lessons well...I'm both proud and impressed," commented Akure
Frost didn't waste her time and energy replying. "I'm sorry but...any last words?" she asked before sending out waves of energy that sliced his legs and arms making him unable to walk.
"Only to make it quick," he replied.
Frost nodded. He had always respected her in the past, so the least she could do was grant him a quick and merciful death.
She leaped into the air and combined her two swords into one massive sword and said, "die with the honor of a knight, ” and sliced his head clean off.
His essence slowly poured out of his body, but she decided against absorbing it. Absorbing a demon’s essence basically sucking their life force dry. That was a fate she wouldn't bring herself to bring onto him, and at the same time, she wouldn't have considered any of his abilities overly useful to her; his strengths were his adaptability and versatility. Something her ice magic could already do well enough.
"I will free you one way or another Akure..until We meet again," she said sadly to his corpse and hid the single tear from view as she faced the final door.
And the final general, the one she anticipated the most and despised specifically.
Her father’s second in command, Achkwa, the manipulative and sadistic spider demon.
