My hands folded together on my lap. My palms sweaty as I think of the situation I'm currently in. I was told yesterday that I'd need to marry the heir to the throne of the rival Kingdom and today I'm supposed to meet him.

Ive heard only horror stories about him, how maids have come and gone, driven to a point of madness by his horrid manners and menacing attitude. How he has broken the hearts of many women who have tried to tame him. How he has blood on his hands from the many lives he has taken on the battlefield. He's a trained warrior with no concern about hurting someone.

Prince Choi Yeonjun, the man I was said to marry. I had no choice in this matter, I'm sure he isn't very pleased either but we both have duties to appease.

"I present to the royal family of the Kingdom of Dalnimton, the royal family of the neighboring Kingdom, The Kingdom of Yeomancan."

My mother, father and brother stood up alongside me as the others entered the dining hall where the decadent variety of foods was scattered across the the table in preparation for our feast.

The king entered with his queen on his arm as the youngest prince followed behind, from what i had heard, we were the same age. His hair was grown out longer and shaggier. Prince Choi Beomgyu.

Then he came through the golden engraved doors next. His figure was tall and broad, but what caught my eyes, were his own. Dark and...beautiful. He was extremely beautiful, but i knew that his beautiful came with a beast locked inside.

We walked around to face each other, standing beside the dining table to make eye contact, my father and the King of Yeomancan were very clearly maintaing eye contact to assert their dominance in the room.

My parents then bowed, which was returned by the opposite party.

After the parents introduced themselves my brother bows.

"Im Prince Park Jimin of the Kingdom of Dalnimton, heir to the throne and brother of the betrothed princess." He used to always seem so tall to me but standing by the princes of the rivaling Kingdom, he was so short and meak.

"I'm Prince Choi Beomgyu of the Kingdom of Yeomancan, youngest of the three princes and brother the betrothed prince." He smiled and bowed.

Yeonjun and I were the only two to still give introduce ourselves, but before I could introduce myself he takes my hand in his own and kisses my knuckles softly as he bows. He still holds my hand as he stands.

"I am Prince Choi Yeonjun of the Kingdom of Yeomancan, heir to the throne and the betrothed prince." He says, his voice is deep and soothing. His lip quirks up at the ends. A small gesture that seemed so dark and scary. My stomach tied into a knot.

"I am Princess Park Jina of the Kingdom of Dalnimton, the youngest and the betrothed princess." my voice betrayed me, coming off as raspy and nervous. I lower my body in a bow, my hand still being held by the Prince that stands opposite me.

"Please do excuse my second eldest, he has to attend some important matters in the Kingdom." The Queen says.

"Prince Choi Soobin is excused, it is a pity he could not join us, hopefully he will have the opportunity to join us next time." my father responds. My mother then asks them polietly to sit so that we may begin the feast.

I was seated across from Yeonjun. I had only now seen what he was wearing, his blue velvet suit with golden detailing across the collar and buttons seemed to match my blue velvet dress with the detailed gold corset.

"Princess, I must say, you do look rather beautiful tonight, " Prince Beomgyu comments from across the table, "don't you agree, brother."

My eyes snapped once again to him, meeting his gaze. His eyes coated over with someone.

"The Princess truly does shine as bright as a star in the night sky, i do have to agree with you brother." my heart was beating at his smooth words. I hadnt felt this dressed up in ages, my hair was curled and half of it placed in a bun while the half falls down to my collar, spread over my exposed shoulders. My makeup is also  alot heavier than I usuall opt for but I can feel the pink of my blushing cheeks begin to shine through.

"You truly have a way with your words Prince Yeonjun, my daughter ought to be showered with many love poems in the future if you speak so lovely." My mother says from my side.

"Thank you very much for your kind words, Prince Beomgyu and Prince Yeonjun." I bow my head slightly, mainly to hide my blush.

"So we have discussed wedding dates, nothing has bern finalised but we hope to have you two wed eithin the next 3 months. I know its not  much time princess, I would hate to rush you on what is said to be such a special day for any lady." The King says to me.

"I do not mind the rush King Hajoon, I know what my duty is so I should do my very best to furfil it, no matter the time limit that is put on it." I say and I hear a soft, but audible, scoff come from the other side of the table. The King shoots a glare at his eldest. Its cracking, I knew he was putting up a facade of smooth words and a beautiful face. He is cracking and his true nature is shining through.

"Due to the short time we have til the wedding, I hope you don't mind that we request you move in as soon as possible, does tomorrow sound alright, or should we move on another day?" The Queen asks in a rush, trying to cover the previous lack of manners her son has forgotten to show at the dining table for an important matter.

"I will make sure to ask my ladies to assist me with the packing tonight, I would be most honored to stay in your place, Queen Kathryn." I say to her and she sends me a short smile. Her smile was far from her sons, she was a bright and cheerful person if I'd ever seen one. She seemed to be a delight.

She was also such a beauty, a image of poise and proper. From what I had heard about her, she was never meant to be Queen, but after spending majority of her life in America, to study, her father had  arranged for her to marry King Hajoon. She still preferred to be addressed by her english name.

"It too would be an honor to have such a lovely guest in our palace. It shall soon be your home aswell." She replies before we all begin to eat what we've been served on our plates.

-~°~-

Later that night, after the royal family of Yeomancan had left, I sat myself in my bedroom, watching my ladies pack in my finest dresses and jewelry for me to move into my new home. Im aware that I'd never come back to this palace as a resident ever again. Yeomancan would soon be my new home.

Surely I'd be allowed to visit Dalnimton to see my family and to attend the countless balls, but never to live here like i once used to.

I would miss waking up to sound of the butlers and maids feet tapping on the floors of the long and hollow hallways. I'd miss the garden, each other most beautiful flowers found in our Kingdom planted for miles.

I luckily would never have to miss Sooyoung , she is my lady in waiting. She would be the only one to move with me to the new palace. She is the closest I have to a friend, and the truest one at that. She has been by my side since I was 12 and she was 17.

"Your Royal Highness, we have packed everything that will be most needed for your travel tomorrow. The rest should be sent to you within a week." The head maid says to me.

"Thank you very much for service, you and the rest of the ladies may be excused for the night. Tomorrow is a big day, rest well." I say and the all bow before they leave my room.

Empty once again.

A short knock against my door causes me to pay my attention to it.

"Who is it?" I asked and the door opens to reveal my brother.

"Jimin, what has you coming to my room at such a late time?" I ask him and he gives a small, forced smile.

"Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day for the entire palace, Im fearing i wont get a proper goodbye in before they send you off." He says and I smile before giving him a big hug.

"Im going to miss you too." I say and he chuckles.

"Who said I'd miss you," He jokingly replies before breaking the hug, his eyes glossy what i assume to turn into tears, "I'm glad you are leaving, the halls will be filled with silence, no longer the loud princess roaming the halls giggling over some random doodle she made on an old scroll she has to study."

We both let out a laugh and then we were quiet.

"I can't believe my little sister is becoming a woman so fast infront of my eyes." He said and there t was, a single tear rolls down his face.

"Im not so little anymore." I said to him and he laughed again.

"You will always be my little sister, no matter how old you get. A walking stick won't change the 6 year age gap." He says to me, fixing the small hair that fell from my ponytail into my face.

"I was bond to grown up one day." I said and he kissed my forehead.

"I know, now go to sleep. Along day ahead." He said, "one last thing."

He takes out a necklace from behind his back, a lovely simple silver chain with a lotus flower pendant at the end.

"It is a symbol of new beginnings, hopefully a happy nrw beginning." Thats all he said before leaving the room.

Leaving me once again alone.

I climb into my bed and pull the blankets up to my shoulders, resting my head and falling into a slumber.

-~°~-

The next day started out so easily, I was woken by the soft breeze blowing the leaves of the tree by my window and creating a light rustling sound. I had gotten up and dressed into my casual gown. A light mint green colour, my favorite. I loved the large purple ribbon that wraps around my waist and creates a bow at the back.

"Your Royal Highness, Her Majesty is awaiting your presence in her green house before you leave." A maid tells me as I sit at the breakfast table that sits under a large window looking out at the main entrance gate of the palace.

"I will see her after I've finished, thank you, there will also be no need for any escort." I reply to her where she bows and leaves me be at the table. I finish my brealfast and then proceed to the green house. My mother is rather fond of gardening, if she has no royal duties to attend to then you would likely be able to find her in the greenhouse tending to her plants.

"Mother, you requested to see me?" I enter the greenhouse to see her busy with a large bouquet. Red roses.

"Yes dear, I've selected the most devine of my roses for you to give to Prince Yeonjun." She says.

"Mother, I dont think Prince Yeonjun would be much interested in your beautiful flowers, wouldn't it be such a waste?" I ask and she lets out a defeated sigh.

"I guess you do have your point, very well. Take atleast one with you. Ive already sent a large bouquet of freshly picked flowers for Queen Kathryn so you dont need to take for her." She says wgile removing a singular rose and giving it to me.

a rose with no thorns.

"Your Majesty, Your Royal Highness," a maid enters and greets us, "the carriage is packed and ready for your departure."

"Thank you, I will bid my farewells and then be off." I said and the maid bowed before leaving the greenhouse.

I turn to my mother again before she pulls me in for a warm hug.

"Have a safe trip, please do write us letters and visit often." She says while she strokes my hair.

"Ofcourse, please do tell Father and Jimin that I say farewell, I know they are terribly busy with work." Father and Jimin had much to do before Jimin would become King.

"Will do, now go before I cry. The carriage awaits. I'll see you soon." My mother says a waves me off as i leave the greenhouse and go on my way to the carriage.

Sooyoung is sitting inside already waiting for me so that we may leave.

"Your Royal Highness, you look rather stunning in your dress today." Sooyoung says to me.

"Oh Sooyoung, you speak such lovely words. You look quite beautiful yourself today." A small silence fills the carriage space before we both burst into laughter.

"Sooyoung, it is rather weird hearing you talk so formally to me when we are alone." I said to her, I hear the horses feet stepping and then feel the carriage move. We've started going.

"Ofcourse, Princess Jina, I'd never speak to you in a informal tone." Sooyoung said, her smile broad. She had such a infectious smile, it made everyone feel the need to smile.

"Sure you wouldnt." We both laugh and then just relax for the duration of the journey to the neighboring kingdom.

-~°~-

The Kingdom of Yeomnacan was truly beautiful the moment we had entered, blossoming with greenery. Mother surely would love it here.

"It is magnificent." Sooyoung says just under her breath, almost as if she was gasping.

We soon arrived to the Palace. It was also very green with many hedges and vines that were scattered with flowers. The measly rose in my hand, although very beautiful, was nothing compared to these flowers. I felt almost stupid thinking about giving them any flowers.

"Presenting Her Royal Highness, Princess Park Jina of the Kingdom of Dalnimton and her lady in waiting." We were presented as we stepped out of the carriage. Queen Kathryn awaited for me with Prince Beomgyu at her side. I cursty as they return the gesture. Sooyoung curstys beside me, holding a light sun umbrella above my head.

"Sooyoung, it is unnecessary for that right at this moment." I say to her and she nods. We'd planned that if I'd ever need her help, I'd simple ask for the umbrella, as a code.

"Princess Jina, you look stunning. Reminds me of when I was young." She takes my hand and smiles at me.

"As if you've aged a day, Queen Kathryn." I respond to her and she lets out a soft giggle.

"Such a charming young lady you are."Queen Kathryn says and starts to direct me to the doors where Prince Beomgyu stood.

"Mother, I would gladly show Princess Jina to her room, it should be more welcoming than just having the servants escort her." Prince Beomgyu says as we approach him.

"Well since your brothers are both busy, I guess it wouldn't be too bad. You can take her and allow her to settle. Yeonjun should be able to shoe her around later today." Queen Kathryn says to him which allows Beomgyu to smile, he has his mother's inviting smile.

"I'll leave you guys to it, i have other matters to go attend to now." Queen Kathryn says before she leaves us.

"Let's get you moved in Princess." Prince Beomgyu places out his arm, which I take and he guides me into the palace. It was breath taking, the shiny floor lead up to a large spiraling staircase that lead up into another level.

We walk up the staircase, each step decorated with shiny golden details and trained with a light blue carpet.

"You will be staying in the room nearest to my brother's room, your lady in waiting will be placed in the lower quarters, shouldnt be too far if you need her assistance." Prince Beomgyu says with which I respond with a nod of understanding.

"It's so nice to have someone my age in the palace now, I promise there will never be a boring day." He says, his voice perking up. I giggle at his happiness and excitement.

"As far as I remember, the second prince is only a year older. It should not have been lonely." Prince Beomgyu pouts, almost jokingly, by not.

"Soobin hyung is always so busy in his study and even if he is only two years older, Yeonjun hyung is boring and doesnt want to do anything with me." He says to me and then looks me in the eye.

"Well, I'm sure you and I will get along. Ive only ever had my brother and Sooyoung around. They both have quite an age gap to me." I say and once again, he was giddy and happy.

We stopped infront of a white door with a large lotus flower detailing on it. New beginnings, it was almost meant to be.

"Here is your room, thank you for allowing me to show you where it is. Ill be sure to tell my brother that he can show you around later once you've settled." Prince Beomgyu says.

"Thank you very much, Prince Beomgyu." I say to him and bow my head.

"Call me Beomgyu." He says before turning around ad walking away in the direction we came from.

-~°~-

After settling in to my room I was left alone again until there was a knock om the door.

"Come in," I say and watch the door open.

"Your royal highness, his royal higness Prince Yeonjun would like to meet with you in his quarters, " A maid says to me," a maid outside will escort you."

"Thank you," I say before she leaves.

I stand up to walk out before the bottle of perfume sitting on my vanity caught my eye. After the small debate I quickly sprayed some on, allowing the sweet floral smell to fall over my body.

I then decided to leave, the maid outside taking me, along with Sooyoung who was beside me, to Prince Yeonjuns room. I had the red rose in hand.

The doors we arrived at were large, double doors. They were dark and scattered with golden thorn like detailing. The maid opened the door and allowed us in before closing it behind us.

The room was dark, almost everything in the room was black and dark wood. A desk with books scattered on it faced a large elevated king sized bed with black silk sheets.

"I requested you alone, not your lady in waiting too." His voice echoed, his chair turn around and facing us. He lifted a brow as he looked at us.

I turn to Sooyoung who was looking at the floor.

"You may go, I'll be fine from here," I tell her as she nods and shows herself out the door, closing it behind her.

I turn back to Yeonjun to see him standing closer to me.

"Now I've got you alone, Princess."
