Merida
I tried Hiccup's phone for the seventh time with no response.
I didn't want to break up with that sweetheart.
I wanted to tell him of my new job.
I no longer taught an' helped with soccer and birthday parties.
I was allowed to do archery!
After driving Jack home, I drove down to the reno site where Hiccup was redoing a pool. But he wasn't there. I called Anna about it, but she wouldn't answer the office phones or her cell.
I tried calling Punzi but no response either. No one would pick up their phones except for Jack.
I drove home an' parked the car in the assigned spot that was near our house. I hit my head against the steering wheel an' closed my eyes.
There was a knock on the window.
It was Eugene.
I parted my unruly hair an' tried to smooth it back, it bounced back up to it's frizzy mass of tangles an' curls.
"Hey Merida."
"Hi."
"Umm Hiccup is at my place and is acting all depressed. I don't know what to do." Eugene ran his hand through his hair
"I'm comin' over. Don't tell Hiccup I am." I opened the car door and got the groceries out of the trunk
Eugene nodded an' ran over to his car, he started the engine and drove off.
I got the mail and placed it in one of the grocery bags. Unlockin' the door I was greeted by my Irish Wolf-Dog, Bear. He almost knocked me down, he was jumpin' so much.
We walked up the stairs and went into the kitchen, I placed the bags on the breakfast table.
There were 3 messages on the answerin' machine. I clicked the button an' Anna's voice filled the room, "I might accept a job offer that was presented to me today. If I don't call you back, I want to let you know that Kris fired Hiccup. I'll let you know more later. Anyway, bye."
It beeped.
The second one started an' a voice I never heard of before filled the room, "Hello. This is Pitch Black. I'm calling to ask Hiccup if he was interested in a job opportunity. Please get back to me by 5 pm. Thanks."
It beeped.
The last message was from a girl, it was muffled slightly, "Hiccup. It's me. Pick up the phone..... Hiccup. It's me, Sylvia. Pick up the phone..... Hiccup?"
It beeped.
I shook my head and took out the mail, if Hiccup wanted to get fired an' have me support us both, he had another thing comin'.
I opened bill after bill after bill after bill. There was one invitation an' one blank envelope that just said my name on it.
It read:
