Just the day before, a rather curious stranger had appeared and tried to dispose of her, but failed when she picked up a sword from the mantle and proceeded to beat him with it.

Consequently, when they appeared ourselves before him, she glanced over at Alf to gauge his reaction to the troll.

With a single gaze, he looked ready to destroy the troll.

Good, she needed him on his A game.

"What were your intentions in coming here?", Alf inquired, crossing his arms tightly and appearing even more imposing than before.

"Is the Lady too terrified to speak for herself that she has a disgraced elf speak on her behalf?", the troll mocked to Alf's chagrin.

"My advisor asked you a question. I would recommend you answer it lest you test his wrath. Believe me- the beating you received at my hand is nothing compared to what he will do for you if you don't talk," she responded, hoping he did not call out her bluff.

"As if! You can't make me talk no matter what you do! I know no pain!", the troll cried.

With a simple wave of Alf's arm, the troll's right arm became encased in a pillar of stone; she imagined it to be quite heavy as the troll instantly cried out in protest.

"What was that for?", the troll shouted.

"Tell us who sent you here...now", Alf stated, seeming determined to get to the bottom of this.

"Alright...the Winter Sorceress sent me to kill the girl."

"Why would she ask that of you?", Kyla inquired, curious at what this so-called winter sorceress had against her, the self-proclaimed Lady of Ice.

"We were notified of your death ages ago to the great relief of the sorceress for her stepson had, without her consent, asked for your hand in marriage."

"No one has...wait, does he perchance happen to be a white bear?", the Lady of Ice inquired, hoping that not to be the case.

"So, you are the one then? Phew. And here I thought I was sent on a wild goose chase."

Alf commented, "Let me guess...she figured out the truth and sent you here to fix her mistake in leaving her be?"

"Yes!", the troll replied back as Alf froze him into stone.

"Why would you do that?", she asked while they climbed up the stairs out of the dungeon.

"Two reasons. One-he was obviously not going to share anything else. Two-we got what we needed and do not need another mouth to feed that will not contribute to the welfare of this household," he responded while turning the knob.

She silently agreed with his opinion and commented, "On this day, you have shown what a remarkable head of household you are. I feel as I should reward you for your due diligence."

"No need," he quipped before turning to say, "What shall we do about the sorceress? She, surely by now, knows where we are."

"We move," she answered back.

He protested, saying, "No. We cannot simply..."

"I had a plan in case this might happen, although I imagined it would be the white bear that would come. Nevertheless, the servants will be let off at the villages and I will pick up my things to go somewhere else."

"What do you mean? The servants willingly chose to give their lives in service to you after you revived them. They will stand and fight with us if necessary than go back to their villages."

She scoffed, remembering that when I had met Alf, it was expected then that the revived would pledge to be her servants. However, he was the only one who ever refused the offer only to later change his mind.

"Then, they are fools...the day they stand with me will be their funeral."

"Do you not think that is their choice to take?"

"The matter of one's life and death are not something to take lightly. I myself was buried in an icy grave with no funeral."

"Kyla Blom...", he started only for her to glare at him.

"...or should I say, Lady of Ice? Sometimes, I forget that you are indeed human because you act cold and indifferent, but I know from all this time we have together, that you are not the Ice Queen of those tales, and that you truly care about others. Let us care for you for once and fight this new threat together", he pleaded.

"Alright, you convinced me," Kyla stated as she felt a strange tingling in her chest and passed it off as indigestion at the thought of having to arrange funerals and place flowers on her servant's graves should they fail.

However, Alf then turned and asked, "First things first, I am going to need to know more about your past. Who was this stepson that asked for marriage and why would this sorceress want you dead?"
