Close my Eyes
I had never been to space before, but I couldn't seem to have that cliche moment of looking down at the world you've never left fade into an array of stars.
All I could do was stare into the dark, cold, dead void.
Cold and dead, just like K7.
At some point of the flight, sometime near the end of the trip, the Apithian walked over to the corner I was huddled in, staring into the abyss of cosmic dust.
"I'm Jita." The Apithian said. I realized then I had never seen an Apithian before, in person or as one of the holographic projections the droids had showed us at the camp school. Her pale, almond colored skin patterned with dimly lit linear markings, her large pointed ears and navy blue hair, even her slim, short build, it was all so alien to me.
"That's Crimson." Jita continued, gesturing to the Kikbau sitting in what I presumed was the pilot's seat. "She was a slave to the Baron, like you. But we're rebels. We're fighting the Baron until they fall to their knees. We'd like to have you on our team, if you'll have us."
I looked down to my feet. I had lost my left shoe sometime in between the battle and now. So much had happened, I hadn't noticed. Thoughts raced through my head, everything telling me to sink into a dark hole and forget about the world, forever. There wasn't anything left to live for.
But one thought rose above the rest: revenge. To do to those upperclass dipshits all they did to me.
The deserved it.
Without hesitation, with all the strength I had left, I answered. "I'll join you. I'll give those upperclass idiots everything they deserve."
Jita smiled. "Good. That's what we wanted to here."
As we drew closer to the planet, I noticed it was a water planet, covered in a vast turquoise ocean. As we entered the atmosphere, my breath was finally taken away.
This world was blue, bluer than everything and anything I had seen before.
The planet I grew up on (I still don't know it's name) was beige sand on gray sky. I barely saw colors.
But this planet.... was full of every shade in the universe. Everything I had never known was mine to see now.
I wished K7 was there, to see it with me.
When we landed, a party of what I assumed was a mix of rebels and natives greeted us at the airlock. It was relieving to be greeted by cheering.
One of natives pulled me over, her lavender-rose skin almost the same tone as mine. "Hey. You're new, aren't you."
I nodded slowly.
The native nodded. "I'm Laku. Welcome to Zark! What's your name?"
I scoured my name for answers. "They used to call me J3...".
Laku nodded. "I'm gonna call you Jet. Come with me, you're part of the rebellion now."
