Last Time

Ruby unsheathed her scythe and shot a bullet to catapult towards the huge scorpion grimm, but as they met the grimm smacked her away with its pincer and knocked her down as she slowly got up.

"D-D-Don't worry! Totally fine!" She said before hearing loud steps behind her and turning to see the beast right in front of her.

She shot it in the armor once before turning and running away as the beast gave chase and followed right after her.

"Ruby!" Yang yelled as she ran faster.

Just then, the screech of the Nevermore came from the sky as it locked its sights on Ruby and flapped its wings before sending a barrage of sharp black wings towards her as one of the pinned her down by her red hood. More feathers cut Yang off as she slid to a stop and tried to reach out for Ruby.

"Ruby, get out of there!" Yang yelled.

"I'm trying!" Ruby yelled while trying to rip her hood away from the feather.

Just then however the deathstalker stopped in front of Ruby and raised its golden stinger high into the air as Ruby stared up at it in despair and the stinger came flying down towards her.

"RUBY!" Yang screamed before a blue light suddenly flashed.

Just before the stinger reached her, a blue beam of light hit the deathstalker right in its face as sparks flew off it and made the beast stagger back. Ruby stared in shock as another beam struck the ground in front of the monster and blew up before the beam hit the beast and made more sparks fly off it. Everyone turned in shock as they saw you standing in front of the group, your claws were extended and your teeth were sharp fangs now as you had an angry look on your face.

"Stay away from her..." You said as your spines flashed blue and you unleashed another beam from your mouth towards the deathstalker as everyone in the group watched in awe of your power.

Now

There was a big explosion of sparks that came off the deathstalker as it reeled back and roared in pain before suddenly flipping on its back and going still. You ran forward and came up to Ruby as you grabbed the feather that pinned her down and used your strength to lift it up and release Ruby.

"Go!" You said as she nodded and ran back as you heard another screech and turned to see the Nevermore coming towards you. "Already?" You wondered gasping from something astonishing that you saw.

Three streams of gold lightning suddenly flew into the air and hit the Nevermore as the beast screech in pain and sparks flew off its body. The monster dove down towards the forest and crashed out of sight as you turned around in shock and saw Annie with her arms aimed towards the sky and her mouth glowed gold a little and her hands did as well.

"Well, looks like we got something in common." She smirked at you as you stared at her in awe.

"I-I could've handled it..." You said as you returned to normal and walked towards the group.

"I'm sure you could have, but you're not going to hog the glory. We're not in an anime, and you're not the main protagonist." Annie said as she patted your back and the two of you walked up to everyone.

"Hmph, I wish we were..." You pouted and muttered under your breath.

"You are so childish." You heard the voice of Weiss chime in as you looked up to see her stood over Ruby.

"Weiss?" Ruby was confused and worried about what she would say next.

"And dimwitted, and hyperactive, and don't even get me started on your fighting style. And I suppose...I can be a bit...difficult, but if we're going to do this, we're going to have to do together. So if you quit trying to show off, I'll be...nicer." Weiss tried to find the right word to end her sentence.

"I'm not trying to show off. I want you to know I can do this." Ruby said as Weiss sighed and turned away.

"You're fine." She said as she spaced herself from the group and Ruby muttered to herself and sighed in relief.

"I guess those two were partners." You thought before your heard loud noises from the woods.

You all turned around and saw the Nevermore that Annie shot down fly back into the air and soar around in sky as vomit boy, which you learned was Jaune, spoke up.

"Guys, that thing's circling back. What are we gonna do?" He asked in a worried tone.

"Look, there's no sense in dillydallying. Our objective is right in front of us." Weiss said as she nodded towards the chess pieces.

"She's right. Our mission is to grab the artifacts and bring them back to the cliffs. There's no point in fighting these things." Ruby agreed.

"They're right." Julia nodded.

"Mhmm." You, Sarah, and Annie all nodded at the same time.

"Run and live. That is an idea I can get behind." Jaune said as the ones who didn't have a artifact before went and retrieved one for themselves and their partners.

Just then you heard the deathstalker move around as it let out a low growl signaling that it was waking back up.

"Time we left." Ren suggested in rushed tone.

"Right. Let's go." Ruby said as she ran point for the group and everyone followed her lead.

While everyone dashed off you and Yang both watched with impressed looks as Blake stopped next to you guys in confusion.

"What is it?" She asked as you both turned to her before looking at Ruby who's starting to grow out of her shell.

"Nothing."  You both said before you were whacked on the head and turned to see Julia glaring at you.

"Let's go dragon boy." She said said as you watched her, Sarah and Annie all glide off after the rest of the group.

You, Yang and Blake all followed suit, but as you were running and entered the tree lines you saw in the corner of your eye something strange. You saw a girl who looked strange and angry, and she definitely was not human. She had long black hair, a long spiky tail and sharp claws and some signs of scales on her body and you noticed a red pulsing light emitting from her body.

"What...Who's that...?" You thought before Yang called you.

"Y/N! Hurry! You're falling behind!" She yelled as she caught your attention.

You stared at Yang for a moment before staring back towards the area you saw the girl, but you found her to be nowhere now and you raised a brow.

"Am I imagining things?" You wondered before shaking off the thought and proceeding with the plan to return to Beacon.

After traversing through the forest with the rest of your group, you and everyone else came upon another set of ruins as the Nevermore flew overhead and stopped between you all and the cliffs. You all hid behind a few stone pillars and stared at the beast as it landed on top of a destroyed tower and you looked up towards the cliff edge.

"Well that's great." Yang said in annoyance.

Just then you all heard loud noises coming from the trees you ran from and turned to see the deathstalker that you injured was back on its feet and angry as it broke through the treeline.

"Aww man, run!" Jaune said as you all made a break towards the crevasse that was ahead of you and the Nevermore took to the sky once more.

"Annie, distract that thing! I'll hold the deathstalker back!" You yelled as you slid to a stop and turned around to unleash another one of your heat beam towards the beast.

"On it!" She yelled as she raised her arms and opened her mouth and unleashed three streams of gold lightning as the Nevermore flew to avoid the attack.

"You too, Nora!" Ren said as Nora flipped out from cover and pulled out her grenade launcher and fired at the Nevermore as well as a few rounds exploded off its body and made it fly away.

You continued to hold your beam but the amount you used before had depleted your energy and your attack gave out as you knelt on the ground. The deathstalker went to attack you, but Ren and Blake both cut it off and struck the monster with their blades as Julia came over and grabbed both you and Nora and flew towards where the others ran off to. As the deathstalker chased after you all and everyone ahead of you guys began to cross the stone bridge above the crevasse, Pyhrra turned around and turned her spear into a rifle and began to fire a few rounds at the beast as you jumped down next to her and unleashed more of your heat breath while Ren turned to fire his auto-pistols as well, making it stop at the beginning of the bridge. The beast tried to cut Blake in half with its pincers but she jumped away as you all moved ahead on the bridge where the beast could not continue. As you all hurried across the bridge the Nevermore came into view of the corner of Annie's eye and she stopped to send more of her lightning at it, but it was too late as the Nevermore crashed and destroyed the bridge, splitting people in different groups.

"Agh!" You groaned as you fell back turned to see you were on the side where the deathstalker was and Blake, Ren and Pyhrra were fighting it off. "Hold on..." You said as you got up.

"You're out of energy, we can handle it." Pyhrra said as you raised your hand.

"I'm tired of playing around...I just want a rest from all this...Let's hurry up and finish it, I wanna take a nap." You said as your eyes glowed red for a moment and Pyhrra was slightly jaw dropped from what she was seeing.

Your breath hitched as your spines grew out more and your teeth turned sharp. Red veins were suddenly glowing over your body as your claws on your hands extended and black scales were slowly forming on your arms and neck. You roared as you stepped in front of the three of them and pulled your head back your spines glowed red. You opened your mouth and a spiral red beam fired from your mouth as it flew towards the deathstalker and hit it directly in its left pincer, blowing it apart as the beast roared in pain. Annie who landed on the other side of the bridge was stoked when she saw your sudden transformation and smirked.

"We REALLY do have a lot in common! I might ask him out!" She said in excitement before her eyes shined red.

Suddenly, she went through a transformation of her own and two dragon like heads grew on her shoulders as her appearance changed and was so amazing that Ruby took notice and was jaw-dropped.

"THAT'S SO COOL!" Ruby yelled.

"Rubyu! Keep firing!" Yang yelled at her as Ruby was still in awe.

"IS THAT HER SEMBLANCE!?" Ruby yelled before getting dragged away by Yang.

"Thanks, Ruby!" Annie waved at her turning to Sarah and Julia. "Hey, start getting everyone up on the other cliff. Me and Y/N will stay and hold these things back." She said as Julia and Sarah nodded before using their wings and flying off. "Alright, let's dance." She smirked before she opened her mouth and the two other dragon heads on her shoulders opened up as well.

Three gold orbs shined before streams of lightning fired and wrapped all around the Nevermore, tangling it and stopping it from going anywhere. Meanwhile, Sarah and Julia both carried two people at a time and used their wings to fly people up the cliff. After getting everyone else up, you and Annie were both left as Annie flew over to you and grabbed you by the shoulders as she went up. She used her two other heads that still had the Nevermore entangled and threw the Nevermore over to the very weak deathstalker as the two monsters laid on the ground.

"Let's do this, Y/N!" Annie said with excitement.

"Right!" You yelled.

Your spines flashed red as red sparks surged all over your body. Annie opened her mouth as electricity gathered in front of her face and in front of her two dragon heads as well. The light emitting from the two of you was so bright that it made everyone else cover their eyes as you fired a red spiral beam and she fired three streams of lightning. The energy attacks flew towards the beast and suddenly combined as the two beast laid still unable to move. Once the beams came into contact with them the deathstalker and Nevermore were obliterated and turned into nothing as there was a massive explosion that made everyone turn away and hold onto the ground to prevent from being blown away. Once they felt it was over, Ruby and everyone else uncovered their eyes and turned to see a giant mushroom cloud in front of them as they were in awe while you and Annie were both in the air.

"...Incredible..." Pyhrra muttered under her breath.

"Such power..." Ren spoke as Nora stood up next to him while continuing to stare at you two.

"...I am so gonna have my way with him tonight." Yang thought while biting her lip and staring at you.

Just then, Ruby gasped when she saw both you and Annie return to normal. Due to using a huge amount of your energy and stamina, you passed out with Annie as well as she let go of you and the two of you fell.

"No!" Ruby yelled as she dashed towards you and Annie.

Just then, Sarah and Julia both flew pass Ruby and flew up to catch you two just before you both hit the ground. As they brought you both back to the ground, they saw you were both exhausted and your eyes were barely open.

"I...am not doing that again..." You said as your tail fell limp from exhaustion and Julia aided you.

"Me neither..." Annie groaned as she laid in Sarah's lap.

"You're always too reckless, jeez..." Sarah pouted as Annie just gave a weak grin.

"He got me all fired up after changing like that. I thought letting loose would be fun." Annie said as Sarah flicked her on the forehead.

"Jeez..." Sarah just pouted as Annie weakly laughed.

"You know..." You heard Julia start to talk as you looked up at her. "Maybe we got off on the wrong foot...Sorry for what happened before." She said as you blushed at remembering what happened in the locker and turned away.

"N-No, it's nothing. Let's just forget it." You said as you both looked away from each other as you two blushed.

Just then, Professor Ozpin and Professor Goodwitch both walked up to you all and you all looked up at them as they just stared at you and Ozpin drank from his mug.

"Congratulations, you have succeeded in retrieving the artifacts, finding your partner, and returning back to Beacon alive. Come, let us announce your new teams now." Ozpin said as he and Glynda both walked away.

As soon as they all walked away you all groaned and laid on the ground in despair as your initiation wasn't over and you all couldn't rest until the celebration was over.

Ceremonial Hall

All the first years were gathered together in the ceremonial hall to witness the first teams to be formed of the hundreds of first years that had arrived to Beacon this year. The first set of students to head up were four guys you hadn't seen during the initiation at all. Three of them you didn't recognize, but you knew one of them that ticked you off greatly, and the crowd clapped in congratulations of them passing.

"Russel Thrush, Cardin Winchester, Dove Brawnswen, Sky Lark. The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward you will work together as team CRDL, led by Cardin Winchester." Ozpin announced their team as they walked off stage and the next four that walked up were people you were much happier to see, Jaune, Pyhrra, Ren, and Nora.

"Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Pyhrra Nikos, Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward you will work together as team JNPR." Ozpin said as Nora leaped onto Ren in excitement. "Led by Jaune Arc." He continued as Jaune was visually confused and Pyhrra seemed excited and happy for Jaune.

"Huh? Led by?" He asked in shock.

"Congratulations young man." Ozpin said as Pyhrra gave him a friendly punch on the shoulder but it was strong enough to knock him down and get a laugh from the crowd.

After they walked off you stood up from where you were sat and clapped as you saw Ruby and Yang walk up with Weiss, not that you cared for her at all, and Blake who you thought was cool.

"And now Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, and Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retreived the white knight pieces. From this day forward you will work together as team RWBY. Led by...Ruby Rose."  Ozpin said as both Ruby and Weiss were shocked and Yang came over and hugged her sister.

"I'm so proud of you!" Yang said with excitement as they all walked off and finally it was your turn with your teammates.

"And finally, Julia Anderson, Ann Clover, Y/N Rose, and Sarah Takahashi. The four of you retrieved the white queen pieces. From this day forward you will work together as team (T/N). Led by Ann Clover." Ozpin said as everyone in the crowd clapped in congratulations.

"Me!? Ha! I'm gonna be the best leader ever!" Annie said loudly as Sarah tried to keep her calm.

"Hmph, lucky..." Julia pouted as you hit her back with your tail while clapping and she clapped as well in response and annoyance.

"Looks like things are shaping to be an...interesting year." Ozpin trailed off as you walked off while carrying Annie on your shoulder in enjoyment as she partied in joy of becoming leader.

Meanwhile, Night...

Off on top of a warehouse, we see the girl you had seen in the forest sat down with her knees hugged to her chest as she stared up at the shattered moon and her body pulsed red before its shine went away.

"After all this time...I finally found another one..." She muttered as she stared at Beacon in the distance. "We will meet again...Soon...soon..." She said as a cloud covered the moon, and darkness blanketed Vale, making the girl disappear.
