Chapter 10: Old Rivalries Still Burn Red, The Faunus Conflict
Timeskip, A Week Later
After your encounter with Annabelle and Diana who tried to take you from your friends, and after building and unlocking even more strength from within your body and recovering from battle, you were out and about with team RWBY and your team as you strolled through the streets of Vale. You walked around the town looking at everything as the citizens of Vale all seemed busy setting up for some sort of festival that was coming soon by hanging up countless balloons, putting up various decorations and making the city feel more lively.
"What's going on here? Is there a special event happening?" Sarah asked as you all watched a sign get hung up that said 'Welcome to Vale' on it and Weiss looked ecstatic.
"The Vytal Festival! Oh this is absolutely wonderful!" She said with excitement.
"I don't think I've ever seen you smile this much, Weiss. It's kinda weirding me out." Ruby commented on her enthusiasm.
"How could you not smile? A festival dedicated to the cultures of the world! There will be dances, parades, a tournament! Oh the amount of planning and organization that goes into this event is simply breath taking." Weiss said as Yang sighed.
"You really know how to take a good thing and make it sound boring." Yang joked.
"Quiet you!" Weiss retorted from her comment.
"Remind me again why we're spending our Friday afternoon visiting the stupid docks?" Yang said in boredom as Ruby pinched her nose closed.
"Ugh, they smell like fish." Ruby said in disgust as you smelled the fishy, salty air and smiled.
"I think it smells great." You commented while taking the air in as everyone stepped back one step from you.
"I've heard that students visiting from Vacuo will be arriving by ship today. And as a representative of Beacon, I feel as though it is my solemn duty to welcome them to this fine kingdom." Weiss said as you all continued along on the docks.
"She wants to spy on them so she can have the upper hand in the tournament." Blake commented as Annie snorted in humor from her comment.
"Ugh, you can't prove that." Weiss denied the claim.
"Whoa..." Ruby said as you all looked at her staring off at something.
When you all averted your gazes towards where she was looking you all saw a dust shop that had its windows shattered and it also seemed burned around the main entrance as police tape covered the area of the incident. Out of curiosity you all made your way over to the scene and saw two detectives standing outside as one stared at the structure and the other was doing paper work.
"What happened here?" Ruby asked as the detective doing paper work looked up.
"Robbery. Second dust shop to be hit this week. This place is turning into a jungle." The detective said as he went back over to discuss things with his partner.
"Ugh, that's terrible." Yang said while putting her hand to her hip as the detectives spoke loud enough for you to hear.
"They left all the money again." The detectives partner said.
"Yeah, it just doesn't make any sense. Who needs that much dust?" His partner asked as they both shrugged. "You thinkin' the uhh, White Fang?" He suggested.
"Yeah, I'm thinkin' we don't get paid enough." His partner said in annoyance as you heard Weiss huffed.
"Hmph, the White Fang. What an awful bunch of degenerates." Weiss crossed her arms.
"What's your problem?" Blake asked with her brow raised.
"My problem? I simply don't care for the criminally insane." Weiss said in a condescending tone.
"The White Fang is hardly a bunch of psychopaths. They're a collection of misguided faunus." Blake corrected her as Weiss seemed displeased.
"Misguided? They want to wipe humanity off the face of the planet!" Weiss retorted.
"So they're VERY misguided. Either way, it doesn't explain why they would rob a dust shop in the middle of downtown Vale." Blake said as Ruby chimed in.
"Blake's got a point. Besides, the police never caught that Torchwick guy I ran into a few months ago. Maybe it was him." Ruby suggested.
"That still doesn't change the fact that the White Fang are a bunch of scum. Those faunus only know how to lie, cheat, and steal." Weiss said as Annie grew an annoyed face and walked up to her.
"Wanna say that again?" Annie said in annoyance.
"I'm not referring to you, dolt. I'm referring to the faunus who don't have common sense and refuse to work together with humanity." Weiss defended her claim.
"Still, you're talking about the faunus and I'm not liking the way you're talking about our race." Annie said in a serious tone.
"Annie..." You pulled her away from Weiss as the ice queen turned away. "Leave it be." You said as Annie just rolled her eyes and went back to Sarah before a voice echoed from the docks.
"Hey, stop that faunus!" Someone yelled as you all dashed back to the docks.
As you reached the docks you looked over and saw people chasing down a faunus male who was running on the deck of a ship. The faunus seemed to have teased the crew of the ship before he jumped off onto the docks and ran away. As a few cops near the area ran up to cut him off he jumped over them and you took a closer to look to see he was a sort of monkey faunus with blonde hair. After escaping the cops that cut him off the faunus jumped onto the sidewalk where you all were. As he ran by you noticed him blink over at Blake which confused you before he ran off down the street as you all watched.
"Well, Weiss. You wanted to see the competition, and there it goes." Yang said as Weiss ran off.
"Quick, we have to observe him!" Weiss said as she and the girls ran off.
"Here we go..." You mumbled as you dashed off as well and tried to catch up.
As you ran down the street and turned one corner to see the girls run down another, you ran faster and once you rounded the corner you suddenly crashed into a something soft before you heard a yelp and tumbled down to the ground.
"Kya!" You heard as you opened your eyes and groaned as you got to your knees.
"What's wrong?!" You asked in a serious and worried tone before you yelled in shock yourself.
You looked down to see both your hands were firmly groping and fondling both of Sarah's fairly sized and decent bust. The girls around were all blushing as they watched and Sarah was in a deep shade of red.
"W-Wait! It's not what you think!" You removed your hands as her breast bounced.
"...Y/N, you prevert." Annie said with a smug grin as Sarah broke.
"NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" Sarah yelled as her wings began to flap wildly and blew you away.
"I'M SORRYY!!!!!!!!!" You yelled as the girls watched you get blown into the sky.
5 Minutes Later
"Are you sure I'm not in an anime...?" You asked with a bump on your head as Annie wrapped an arm around you.
"Pretty sure. Not every girl is in love with you like it would be in an anime." Annie said to you.
"Anyways, what happened? Who's that?" You asked as you pointed to the ginger-haired girl with green eyes.
"Some girl Weiss bumped into, her name's Penny. She's a bit of a quirky girl." Annie explained.
"Why do you keep saying that?!" You suddenly heard as you turned to see Blake getting in Weiss' face. "Stop calling him a rapscallion. Stop calling him a degenerate. He's a person!" Blake scolded Weiss..
"Oh, I'M sorry. Would you like me to stop referring to a trash can as a trash can. Or a lamppost as lamppost?" Weiss said condescendingly.
"Stop it!" Blake demanded her.
"Stop what?! He clearly broke the law. Give him time, he'll probably join those other faunus in the White Fang." Weiss said as you and your teammates turned and began to walk away.
"Wait, where you guys going?" Yang asked as Annie scoffed.
"I can't stand to hang around this girl anymore. I'm gone." Annie said as she wrapped her arm and wing around a frowning Sarah.
You turned back and glared at Weiss for a moment before turning to leave. As your team was walking away you heard sniffling noises coming from the side and you all turned to see Sarah crying.
"What the heck..." Sarah sniffles as her tears fell. "Not all faunus are bad...look at us...we're t-trying to be huntsmen a-and huntresses...! It's not fair how we get labelled...!" She cried into her hands as she clutched her chest.
Annie wrapped her arms around Sarah as Julia grew a sad look as well. As they tried to help calm down their precious butterfly, you spoke up.
"I'll show them..." You said as Julia stared at you.
"Huh?" She asked as you clenched your fist.
"I'll show them all...everyone who's doubted us faunus...treated us like filth...I'll show them they're not better than us...!" You said with an angry look in your eyes as a blue streak flashed briefly in your irises.
Just then you remembered the bright flash you saw as a child and your mind flashed back to your parents gravestones as you gritted your teeth.
"I'll make them pay...Every single one of them..." You thought while staring down at you hands. "I'll use this power to reshape the living balance of things...And create the world of peace that my parents yearned for...that my people all wished for. I'll do it...no matter the cost." You thought as you walked over to Sarah.
You hugged her as she was surprised as well as your teammates. You stroked her hair and rocked her gently as she stared up at you and you looked into her eyes.
"I won't let anyone else hurt you...We'll be the ones to change things. Together." You smiled at her as a red hue was growing on her face.
"Y/N..." She muttered your name as she couldn't stop looking at you.
"Let's go home." You said to your teammates and they all agreed as you all went back to Beacon, arms wrapped around one another.
Timeskip, Beacon
You were walking with Annie to team RWBY's dorm and as you rounded the corner and walked down the hallway you could hear yelling and arguing nearby.
"Do you hear that?" You asked as Annie nodded.
"I think Weiss and Blake are still arguing." Annie said with disappointment as you walked over and opened the door and saw Ruby and Yang staring at the two who were arguing and you and Annie remained in the doorway.
"I don't understand why this is causing such a problem." Weiss complained.
"That is the problem." Blake scolded her as Weiss got off her bunk.
"You realize you're defending an organization that hates humanity, don't you? The faunus and the White Fang are pure evil." Weiss said to Blake as she got up in anger.
"There's no such thing as pure evil. Why do you think they hate humanity so much? It's because of people like Cardin! People like you that force the White Fang to take such drastic measures." Blake defended her point.
"People like me?" Weiss said in shock.
"You're a discriminatory!" Blake yelled at her.
"I'm a victim!" Weiss declared loudly. "You want to know why I despise the White Fang? Why I don't particularly trust the faunus?" Weiss said as she walked to the window and stared out to the night. "It's because they've been at war with my family for years...War...as in actual bloodshed. My grandfather's company has had a target painted across its back for as long as I could remember. And ever since I was a little child, I've watched family friends disappear, board members executed. An entire train car full of dust stolen...and everyday my father would come home furious. And that made for a very difficult childhood." Weiss clenched her fist as Ruby tried to calm her down and diffuse the situation.
"Weiss..." Ruby tried to talk to her but Weiss snapped and turned towards Blake.
"No!" She said in a fury as she stepped in front of Blake. "You wanna know why I despise the White Fang?! It's because they're a bunch of liars! And thieves! And MURDERERS!" Weiss said as Blake said something you all were not expecting.
"Well maybe we're just tired of being push around!" Blake said as the room fell into an even tenser silence as Blake was shocked from what came out of her own mouth. "I-I..." Blake couldn't even finish as she had a scared look before bolting out the door faster than you could all react.
"Blake! Wait! Come back!" Ruby ran but you stopped her.
"No, she's long gone...No way we're catching up with her, not even you..." You said before a slapping noise rang through the room.
You all turned in shock when you found Weiss on the ground with a hand mark on her cheek as Annie stood over her.
"Look at what you did..." Annie said in anger. "That's your teammate and this is how you treat her!?" Annie yelled in anger.
"But she's--!" Weiss was cut off when Annie's eyes burned red.
"WHO CARES WHAT SHE IS!? SHE'S YOUR TEAMMATE AND YOU FORCED HER INTO A CORNER AND MADE HER RUN!! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!?" Annie yelled as Weiss flinched from her tone.
"Annie!" You yelled her name as she turned towards you with a glare. "Enough. We can settle things like this later, for now let's rest and think of a way to find Blake." You said as Annie glared at Weiss and you walked over and grabbed her shoulder. "Don't let your anger blind you. Let's go." You said as you walked out of the room and she calmed down before following.
Just before she left however, Annie turned back around and looked at Weiss with a hateful look.
"You're no better than your father..." Annie said as Weiss had a shocked look on her face before she left.
Just as she left, Annie had turned around towards the hall only to bump into Sarah who was awake at the time.
"Annie? What happened?" Sarah asked as Annie walked pass her and Sarah followed her.
"Weiss hurt Blake and we just found something out that Blake didn't want anyone to know. I'm gonna go catch up to Y/N and we're about to look for her." Annie said as the two of them turned the corner and saw you at the exit of the dormitories on your scroll.
"C'mon, pick up dammit..." You groaned as your scroll went to static and you hung up. "Damn it." You complained as Annie and Sarah joined you.
"Where's Blake?" Sarah asked as you looked out towards the large and vast city of Vale.
"She could be anywhere now. There's no more bullheads leaving for the town so we'll have to pick up the search tomorrow morning." You said as you were about to go back into the dorms and Annie followed you but Sarah stepped outside as you raised an eyebrow. "What's up?" You asked as she interlaced her fingers together.
Play Song At Top
"I can do it..." She said as you stepped closer to her.
"What was that?" You asked.
"I can find her." She turned towards you as were surprised by her claim.
"O-Okay, how?" You asked as she turned back towards the city.
Sarah closed her eyes and held her hands to her chest as her wings fully opened and began to glow a strange yet attracting light.
"I pray to the goddess of our world...The protector of innocence...Please...Lend me strength and help me search for the one who is lost." She chanted under her breath as her wings shined brighter.
Suddenly a strange symbol began to appear all around her as you and Annie back up a few feet and the circle began to glow as you could finally make out the symbol.
"That's right...Good thinking Sarah!" Annie said with glee as you were confused.
"What's she doing?" You asked.
"This is her semblance. Sarah comes from a family in the outskirts of Vacuo. Their tribe and family worshiped a goddess that has blessed many of the family's with special semblances. Sarah comes from the top of the tribe and is the daughter of their leader. She's supposed to be a priestess who can call upon the goddess whenever disaster is struck." Annie explained as you stared at Sarah with shock.
"A goddess...like a queen...?" You asked.
"I guess, yeah." Annie smiled while watching her friend.
"It can't be..." You thought as you remembered your mother talking about the queen of the monsters. "Could she be...No...I can't jump to conclusions. I'll figure it out later." You thought as you watched sparkles come off Sarah's wings.
"Ohh holy queen, please help us in our time of need and search for the lost child who grieves and is in pain. Mothra, I pray to thee, come to our need." Sarah spread her arms out as you saw the sparkling lights blow away from her.
Just then, three strange creatures began to come off of Sarah's wings and once they climbed out you saw that they were small butterfly's of moth's of sorts.
"Beautiful..." You commented on the appearance of the creatures as they flew off into the night with glittering light trails following them.
As the small moths left the circle around Sarah disappeared before she collapsed to her knees and held her head. You and Annie came over and supported her as she opened her eyes again and spoke.
"They'll search all over for her tonight...We can get a beat on her first thing in the morning." Sarah said as you noticed how tired she was.
"Great job." You praised her as you lifted her up into your arms. "Let's get some sleep, we'll start the search at dawn." You said as you and Annie walked back into the dorms.
As you were walking in the dorms with her you stared down at Sarah as she slept in your arms.
"Could you really be the one I'm searching for? Are you the one who will help me restore balance and bring peace to this world...?" You thought as you laid her in bed. "I don't know...but I know one thing...You're special..." You moved her hair out of her face as she slept and you turned out the lights, getting rest for tomorrow's search.
A/N: Sorry for a late update, I've been so sick and not feeling well. Sorry if this was a bad chapter and if there are many mistakes, I tried my best to get a chapter out. Hopefully I get better enough to write out better chapters from now on. Thanks for reading, bye.
