Chapter 1: A Monster Is Born
Xiao Long House Hold, Years Ago
On the island of patch was a small town that was part of the kingdom of Vale, one of the four kingdoms of Remnant. The island's forest was vast and many residents lived in the forest for a quiet and peaceful life. Deeper in the forest there was a wood lodge that stood tall and well maintained as a shed was off to the side with a rusted and old looking bike parked outside of it. Inside the home a baby's crying could be heard as we take a look inside and see a woman holding a baby in her arms. The woman had black hair with red streaks, had a pale white complexion and her eyes were silver. The baby in her hands was a spitting image of the woman with the same hair, skin, and eyes, but was still just a baby. The woman rocked the baby back and forth as the girl continued to cry.
"Shhhh, shhh, it's okay Ruby. Your bottle's almost ready..." The woman cooed into the baby's ear before staring towards the kitchen. "Tai, I need Ruby's bottle now." The woman said as a man walked out and went towards her while twisting a lid on a bottle.
The man had blonde hair, blue eyes, and a tanned complexion as his height was above the woman's by a few inches.
"Give it here." The woman said while reaching out with one hand.
"Here, Summer." Tai said as he hand over a bottle of warm milk and she held it in front of Ruby.
"Here, Sweetie...Here's your bottle." Summer said.
Ruby turned and stared at the bottle while her cries began to calm down. She took the bottle with her small hands before planting her mouth on it and drinking away as she calmed down. Summer and Tai both sighed in relief as Summer stared at the girl in her arms lovingly. As the two adults tended to the young baby, a set of rapid moving footsteps could be heard as a young girl's voice came into ear shot.
"Daddy! Daddy!" A young girl yelled as she stormed down the staircase and ran towards the two adults.
This young girl had long wild blonde hair, lilac eyes, and wore a pair of black shorts and a yellow t-shirt with a fire logo on it. The young girl ran up to Tai and hugged his leg as she stared up at him with an excited smile.
"Whoa, Yang! What's got you all jumpy?" Tai laughed as she pointed to the front door.
"Let's go work on Bumblebee! C'mon!" She said as she referred to the bike and tried to drag him outside.
"You already gave the bike a name?" He said while being pulled by the leg as he looked at Summer and she nodded as he turned towards her. "Alright, alright, let's go." He said as he took her hand and she practically dragged him outside.
Summer giggled at Yang's actions as she walked over to the couch and turned on the TV to some cartoons that Ruby could glance at from time to time. However, when she looked down, she saw Ruby was fast asleep with her bottle clutched in a hug. Summer smiled at her and laid her on the couch before putting her bottle on the lamp stand next to the couch and covering her in a blanket to keep her warm. Just as she gave Ruby a kiss on the head however, the cartoons that she put on had changed to an emergency broadcast channel and made an alarm type noise as she turned towards the TV. She turned down the volume so it wouldn't wake Ruby and stared at the screen with slight discomfort and confusion as she got up and went outside. When she walked out, she saw at the shed Yang sitting on top of the old bike while Tai was working on its engine.
"Tai...!" She called him as he looked up and Yang turned towards her as well. "Come inside, something's going on." She said as Tai noticed her worried state and put his tools away.
"Come on, Yang. We'll work on Bumblebee later." He said as he picked her up in his arms and went towards the house as Summer went back inside.
As they walked back inside Summer stood in front of the couch and Tai put Yang down on the couch as he walked over and stood next to her. They waited for the broadcast to play before the screen changed to a live news feed.
"We interrupt your program to bring you this special news bulletin. Just 20 minutes ago, the kingdom of Atlas launched a test missile that was said to contain a highly volatile dust substance that has not yet been confirmed by scientists. Through our sources in Atlas, we have confirmed that the landing zone of the test rocket is an island a few hundred miles off the coast of Menagerie, called Lagos Island. It is unaware if the island is inhabited to any part of civilization, but the blast is said to be able to be seen from Vale. Speculations are rising against Atlas Military officials, and the Military is being called into question of these actions. We will brief you more on the topic when we learn of anymore news. We now return you to your program." The news reporter said as the broadcast ended and the TV switched back to cartoons.
Summer and Tai stared down in shock while Yang sat behind them and looked up at them in confusion.
"Daddy, what's wrong?" Yang asked as Tai turned around and knelt down to her.
"Nothing sweetie. Just some grown up problems are going on right now in over there. It's nothing we need to worry about. Can you watch Ruby while me and Mommy talk in the kitchen?" He asked as she nodded as she got off the couch and went to the coffee table in front of the couch that had a coloring book on it as she began to color.
Both Summer and Tai walked to the kitchen and went out of sight of the kids as Tai leaned against the counter and Summer leaned on the refrigerator. They both stood in silence for a few moments before Tai spoke up.
"There's a small civilization of faunus on that island...You just came back from there...You were helping the sick while on a mission to clear out the grimm there..." Tai said to her.
"Yeah..." Summer said as Tai sighed.
"This is getting out of hand. This wasn't just some test, this is also an attack on the faunus. I mean, Atlas detest the faunus species." Tai said.
"I know..." She replied while looking at a family picture that was posted on the fridge.
"How could they do such a thing...?" Tai said in disbelief as he leaned his head on the counter top.
"...To show dominance...To tell the faunus that the humans are the superior race, and should not be challenged..." She said as Tai looked up and saw her staring at the picture.
He walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her as he buried his face in the crook of her neck. Summer held his arms as she stared at Ruby and Yang in the picture as she held Tai closer.
"...I just hope this fighting doesn't reach us..." She said before Yang suddenly ran into the room.
"Mommy! Daddy! The TV changed again! There's a firework going off!" Yang said as she ran back to the living room.
Tai and Summer both walk out of the kitchen and back to the living room and when they saw the TV they grew shocked faces. Summer covered her mouth in shock while Tai went wide-eyed. On screen the island that was once vastly green was obliterated and turned into nothing. The fire from the rocket rose into the sky as a bright light shined. The sea was covered in fire as Summer dropped to her knees with tears in her eyes as Tai hugged her tightly. Just then, Ruby began to cry as Yang went over to her in worry and climbed on the couch to tend to her. Summer as well began to cry a bit as she remembered the mission she was on while over there, and also remembered meeting a certain lovable and caring family over there as well.
"No...No..." Summer whimpered as Tai looked at her. "Mr.L/N...Mrs.L/N...Y/N...That poor boy...That poor poor boy..." Summer whimpered before she buried her face into Tai's shirt as he hugged her closer.
Just then however, the TV news anchor spoke in a shocked tone when he received a new report from the rocket blast.
"I'm sorry to interrupt this shocking moment of history, but we've just received shocking news! The fire! Th-The fire and radiation that the blast is suppose to be emitting, it's beginning to drop!" The news anchor said as he looked at the live feed of the island. "S-Something's absorbing the blast...! There's something going on at Lagos Island!" He said in shock.
As Tai and Summer both looked towards the screen, they tried to see what was happening before going wide-eyed from what they saw. On screen of the live feed of the island, there was a massive dark silhouette standing tall within the fiery mushroom cloud. It's eyes were a piercing red and it stood taller than anything known to mankind. It had a long tail as some parts of its body were pulsing a bright redish-orangish color. Spines could be seen on its back before the camera caught the strange creature beginning to move. Just then, the microphone that was connected to the live feed picked up a horrifying roars that sent shivers down both Tai's and Summer's spines, and made Yang cover her ears and Ruby cry even more.

Suddenly, the bright light and smoke cloud that covered the area where the island once was began to shrink and grow smaller. The camera man who was capturing everything suddenly turned towards the people next to him on the boat as he noticed everyone was sweating a lot.
"Hey, it's getting hot..." The microphone holder said.
"I-I'm not feeling so..." Another news crew member couldn't finish as he collapsed from a sudden heat stroke.
The camera man turned back towards the area where the massive creature was, and just when he steadied his camera, it was like the world grew silent from what they were seeing. From the bright mushroom cloud walked out a giant monster that glowed intensely and looked terrifying.
The monster let out another screeching and terrifying roar as people on the boat began to run pass the camera while the camera man couldn't take his lens off the creature from sheer terror.
"Get the boat moving!" Someone yelled.
"Get us out of here!" Another yelled as the monster roar once more.
The camera man yelped and whimpered when he saw the monster turn and look towards them. The giant beast roared as it began to head towards them and yelling could be heard all over the boat. The camera man ran towards the top deck of the boat they were on as they moved at full speed away from the beast. When he turned his lens back towards the creature with shaky hands however, it captured the beast beginning to shine bright as its spines glowed and pulsed before a strange light began to emit from its mouth. The monster roared once more before a bright light fired from its mouth and everyone on the boat yelled as it came towards them before the live feed was cut and went dead. A long beeping noise only continued on as Tai and Summer both stared at the TV in shock of what they had witnessed. Yang looked scared as Ruby continued to cry before came back to his senses and went over to Yang.
"Daddy...What was that...?" She asked before Tai picked her up and she hid her face in his shoulder as he hugged her.
Summer came over and grabbed Ruby to try and stop her from crying, though it did not seem she would stop anytime soon. Caring for their children, Tai and Summer both turned back towards the TV where the screen displayed a picture of the monster in its final moments of its appearance.

Timeskip, 6 Months Later
6 months had passed since the Lagos incident and all the kingdoms were still on high alert and searching for the monster that appeared during the rocket tests. After witnessing tragedy from their home, Summer and her family did their best to block out the memory of what happened, and continued to live their lives peacefully. Today, since it was both Tai's and Summer's days off, they took Ruby and Yang down to the beach. Yang was out in the water playing with her dad while Summer was sitting in a chair under an umbrella while she watched Ruby test her new skills at walking. After playing and having their fun, it was lunch time and they set a blanket down and Summer packed a basket of food. There were sandwiches, drinks, cookies, etc. As the two kids were devouring their food, the adults were relaxing with some cold drinks and watched their kids.
"Man, it feels good to relax from time to time!" Tai said as he laid next to Summer.
"Yeah...This takes me back to when we had our senior trip to the beach back in Beacon. I still remember you dropping an ice cream cone on Raven." Summer giggled as Tai lowered his shades and looked at her.
"Hey! It wasn't all my fault! There was a crab that suddenly came out the ground! I didn't wanna crush the little guy so I stepped wrong and fell." He said as she laughed.
"Ahaha, whatever you say." She laughed at him as Ruby came over and plopped onto her lap as Summer smiled and sat her properly on her lap.
"Daddy! Let's go swimming again!" Yang said as Tai groaned while getting up.
"In a minute sweetie. Gotta let those sandwiches settle." Tai said as he puffed out his stomach to look far and made Yang laugh.
"Ahahaha! Okay!" Yang said before a loud explosion noise filled the air. "AHH!" Yang covered herself as Tai and Summer both stood up.
"What was that?" Summer said as she scanned her surroundings.
"I don't know..." Tai said as he picked up Ruby and Yang hid behind his leg.
Suddenly, there was another explosion and Tai saw that it came from far out in the ocean. Summer turned towards where he was looking and as they looked out to the sea, they saw three more explosions go off in the distance before a strange light began to flash and the next thing they saw terrified them.

Summer and Tai both grew horrified faces as Yang was shaking in fear. The creature began to head towards the shore when Summer grabbed Tai by the shoulder and turned him.
"We have to run!" She said to him.
It took a minute for everything to process in Tai's shocked mind before he handed Ruby over to Summer and he picked Yang up as the two ran from their spot. Summer lead Tai towards an area that had small sand hills and large rocks on the shoreline and while they ran, Yang was faced the other way and could only stare in shock of the monster that was coming towards the beach. Summer stopped and looked around before seeing a space in between the side of the cliff.
"This way!" Summer yelled as she ran in a few puddles and Tai followed.
The two of them ran into the space of the cliff and hid behind the rocks as the water at their ankles swished around due to the vibrations of the creature's footsteps in the water. Tai put Yang down as the blonde girl tried her best to quiet down Ruby. Meanwhile Tai and Summer peeked their heads over the rock they hid behind and watched as the monster came to shore. Thunderous booms shook the ground with each step the monster took as it seemed to be scanning its surroundings. The monster roared loudly as Summer and the other two covered their ears from the loud roar.
"What's that thing doing here...?" Tai said in shock as Summer stared at it in awe as well, but noticed something.
"Wait...Something's different about it..." She said.
"What do you mean?" Tai asked as she nodded towards the creature.
"Look...I remember from seeing it on TV...It's body was glowing bright red and its eyes were red as well. It's different now..." She said as she took in the different appearance the beast had.
"It doesn't matter its look...That thing is dangerous! We have to get out of here!" Tai whispered to her.
"But how? We can't get out unless we go through where we came. It'll see us for sure!" Summer whispered back.
"Let's wait then...Maybe it'll go back into the ocean..." Tai suggested as they watched the beast.
Suddenly though, the two of them went wide eyed when they saw the creature begin to sway side to side before collapsing to the ground. There was a huge shake that knocked them down for a moment, but once the shaking stopped they saw something strange happening to the creature. A bright light began to shine around it as the creature remained still on the ground. The light surrounded the creature before it shined and blinded the two of them and made them hide behind their rock. After a few moments passed, Tai and Summer both slowly peeked their heads up from behind the rock, but when they looked ahead, they were shocked when they saw the creature was suddenly gone.
"Wh-What happened?" Tai asked before Summer noticed something on the beach.
"Look, over there..." She pointed as they looked and saw that a someone was lying on the ground where the creature was.
"Is that...a person...?" Tai asked.
Summer tried to focus her vision, but when her vision focused and she had a clear view of the person on the ground, she went wide eyed and stood up from her cover as Tai stared at her in confusion. Summer began to move away from the rock and towards the beach as Tai was shocked at her actions.
"H-Hey! Summer! Come back!" Tai yelled before turning to Yang. "Yang, stay here and keep an eye on your sister. Don't move from this spot!" He said to her as he left and she watched him go.
As Tai ran over and saw Summer knelt on the sand he stopped next to her and looked around in worry.
"Hey! You can't just run out here like that. What if it comes back? We gotta go." He said before noticing the shocked look on her face as she stared at the person on the ground.
"This boy...I know this boy..." She said as Tai looked at the person.
When he examined who was on the ground, he saw it was a young boy who looked to be around the same age as Yang. His hair was (H/C) and his skin was (S/C). Spines like the creature they had just saw came off his back as he had sharp claws on his hands and feet and a somewhat skinny tail was coming off from the back of his body. Summer stared at the boy in shock as she picked him up in his arms and looked closely at his face before she was sure of her feelings.
"...Y/N...?" She said as the two of them stood there in shock, not knowing what the situation in front of them was.
