"Take the next left." Jensen instructs Tony who sits at the wheel of the car.

"So, where exactly are you taking us?" Daisy, who sits in the passenger seat, glances back at the Jensen in the backseat.

Jensen turns off his phone that was displaying Google Maps. "It's an abandoned airfield. My dad used to take me and my family there when I was younger. I've been going there even after they stopped going," he says.

"It's-" He pauses. "It's where I go when I need peace and quiet, you know?"

"Mm." Daisy hums in agreement while Tony nods his head.

"Why did your family used to go there?" Daisy asks.

"My parents were in the military--Marines," Jensen says. "They used to do stuff out there for their jobs, I guess. They never really told me much about their lives before they had me."

"Oh," Daisy replies.

Tony glances at the leather jacket-clad boy, in the rearview mirror. "Is this the turn?"

The car begins to slow down as they approach a gravel road shadowed by lush canopies of towering evergreen trees.

"Yeah," Jensen tells him from the back of the sedan.

Tony turns the car onto the road. A few minutes up the path, they stop and Jensen jumps out to open a rusty gate with a sign hanging off the side that reads: Government Property DO NOT ENTER.

"Oops," Jensen laughs at the sign.

Tony and Daisy get out of the car behind him, eyeing the sign more cautiously than the other boy.

"There's no one here to get us in trouble. So, there's only like a one in a million chance that we'd actually get caught," Jensen tells them.

Tony scratches the back of his neck and shakes his head. "Right." He laughs.

"Yeah, for some reason that didn't really make me feel any better about doing this." Daisy crosses her arms. She smiles, however.

"Meh." Jensen shrugs playfully,

A short hike up a narrow dirt path later, the trio come upon a huge grassy field covered in stray patches of cement that has long been overthrown by tufts of weeds and natural deterioration.

"Tony is definitely first, by the way," Jensen blurts out.

Tony's head turns quickly and looks at him with wide eyes. "Woah! And why am I first?"

"Um, you shoot fire out of your hands. Why else do you think, pasta boy?" Jensen retorts sarcastically. He narrows his eyes at him.

Tony rolls his eyes but doesn't argue with him further. "Okay. Fine."

Daisy begins to walk backward, away from him. Jensen notices her moving away and follows her, both of them taking a safe distance from Tony.

Tony doesn't attempt anything until they come to a full stop at least ten meters away.

"Wait, guys, I don't want to cause like a forest fire or anything. Maybe this isn't such a good idea," he suddenly says, turning around to face them. "We didn't think this through very well."

"Then don't aim at anything that will catch on fire," Jensen replies, shrugging.

Daisy's mouth drops open. "We're in the woods!" She looks at Jensen in disbelief. "What do you think people use to make fires?"

Jensen merely shrugs again, without looking at her, causing Daisy to roll her eyes at his incredible density.

"Just be careful, okay?" She calls out to Tony.

He nods and takes a deep breath.

Truth is, Jensen isn't worried about anything going wrong. The only thing on his mind is the fact that they're about to attempt to turn themselves into animals.

Tony stretches out one hand in front of him. A flame appears in his palm, the ball of orange and yellow flickers against his olive skin.

He stands perfectly still and closes his eyes, staying like that for a few minutes.

Jensen watches as the flame dies out and Tony's eyes open, revealing his natural, brown eyes.

With a huff, Tony jogs over to them, stopping a couple of feet away. He shakes his head.

"What happened?" Daisy questions him. Her blonde eyebrows knit together and her mouth pulls into a frown.

Tony sighs disappointedly and shrugs his shoulders. "I don't know. I thought I was close, but... then it all just stopped." Tony's eyes move from Daisy to Jensen, then to the ground. "Maybe Phoenix's just can't turn," he mutters.

"Or, maybe it's an age thing?" Daisy speaks up. "There could be so many factors in play here." She tries to reassure him. "We really have no way of knowing."

Tony shrugs and looks back up, a half-hearted smile making its way onto his lips. "So, who's next?" His eyes glance between the two of them.

Daisy and Jensen look at each other, neither immediately speaking up.

"I'll go," Jensen says after a few seconds, shaking his head with a small smile on his face. He doesn't need Tony's gift to feel Daisy's nervousness. He sheds his leather jacket and sets it on the ground, leaving him in his graphic tee. He rubs his arms at the sudden chill.

He only walks a couple of meters away from them, not taking the same precautions as his fiery friend.

"So... what should I do?" he directs his question towards Tony as he stands there awkwardly. He's the only one out of the three of them that had actually seen someone turn, so Jensen has no idea what to expect.

"Just... try to imagine turning into a Lynx, I guess," Tony replies to him.

Okay, that shouldn't be too hard, Jensen thinks to himself.

He spreads out his feet a little and gets into a more grounded stance. He huffs and cracks his neck on both sides. Once he stops moving, he can finally focus on his animal form. He pictures a lynx in his head, imagining the pointed ears and the tan fur, freckled with black. Even down to the small details, like whiskers and the fluffy hair on the tail.

Tony and Daisy's eyes widen simultaneously in surprise and Jensen looks down to see fur beginning to grow on the tops of his arms.

"Holy-" he whispers but stops short when the fur begins to disappear.

He quickly brings the image of a Lynx back into his head. He also imagines his eyes changing to bright orange.

The spotted fur continues to spread all over his body, and soon, the cracking of bones soon follows. Jensen yells out from the pain as he body morphs.

And within a minute, a Lynx is sitting upon his clothing.

Jensen, now in the form of a cat, stares at his paws and opens his mouth to speak, but instead, a meowing noise comes out. The cat lets out some sort of scream and scrambles backwards, tripping over itself and rolling sideways.

"Oh my gosh." Daisy laughs at the sights.

Lynx-form Jensen looks up from the ground at his friend.

Daisy covers her mouth with her hand, her eyes wide in disbelief.

"Jensen," Tony suddenly says, causing his gaze to switch over to him. "You need to change back now, just imagine standing up in your human form," he tells him.

But Jensen lets out a sort of strangled noise and sprints away.

Daisy and Tony looks at each other and then look back at the area of the forest that Jensen had taken off into.

"Should we--" they both begin to say at the same time. They laugh.

"Should we go after him?" Tony asks, a grin playing on his full lips.

Daisy shrugs. "I predict he'll come back. He's probably just excited."

Tony nods, his smile dimming. "Yeah, I would be too."

"Oh, Tony." She reaches out and rests a hand on his arm. "It'll happen one day. And hey," she says, "not all of us can conjure freaking fire in our hands." She bumps and elbow into him. "That's cool as hell. I can't do that."

Tony lets out a small laugh.

Then, the rustling of leaves and the swift patter of small, animal feet catches their attention.

Jensen flies between them from the back, catching them by surprise.

Daisy lets out a small squeal.

Jensen runs in circles for a minute around his friend before finally coming to a stop. The Lynx pants and walks slowly a few feet in front of them. He sits and cocks his head, looking at them. He motions his head to Daisy.

"Oh," Tony says and then turns to Daisy. "Uh, you should turn probably around." He grabs the girl's shoulders and turns her so that she now faces the trees.

She raises an eyebrow at him and then it hits her and her cheeks take a deep rosy tint. "Ah," she mutters and looks straight ahead.

Tony laughs at her and shakes his head at her, looking in the same direction as her.

The sounds of bones cracking fill the crisp, autumn air once again.

Even though it hurts horrendously, instead of crying out in pain, his excitement takes over. "Dude, that was so totally wicked!" Jensen's enthusiastic voice sounds from behind the kids who had their backs turned to him. He rubs his elbows and arms and holds in a gasp as another one of his joints pops back into place.

"Did it hurt?" Daisy asks him, still facing away from him.

Jensen hurries to slip his clothes back on. He hisses as a surge of what feels like multiple needles being poked into him travels up his spine. "Holy shit though bro!" He cries out in pain. "It hurts like a mother trucker."

"Not at first," he adds. "But, when I was shifting back is when it really hit me. But now, I'm just really, really sore," Jensen's voice replies nonchalantly, feeling the pain slowly fading away.

"Okay, I'm decent now," he says as he straightens his t-shirt.

They turn around to face him again. Jensen points a finger at Daisy.

"Your turn," he walks over to her, trading places.

Daisy pauses before timidly walking out a couple of yards and then turning to face them. She takes in a deep breath and repeats what Jensen did moments before.

Her eyes close and her face relaxes. Then, within mere seconds, Daisy's human form is replaced with a gold-coated wolf. Her yellow eyes shine brilliantly in the glow of the setting sun, creating a celestial look in her irises.

Daisy looks down and ends up following her tail in a circle. She howls happily and sits on the ground, her tail sticking out between her legs. With a soft bark, she nods her head, urging them to turn around.

It takes Jensen a second to process what she is trying to communicate, entranced too deep in the sight of a golden-furred wolf where the gold-haired girl once stood. He doesn't snap out of it until he feels a nudge in his side.

He looks over at Tony and catches his expectant look. "Oh! Sorry," Jensen says quickly while turning around.

The soft sound of bones snapping into place fills his ears and then the rustling of clothing follows closely behind.

"I guess werewolves can change pretty easily, huh?—I'm dressed, by the way," she says behind him.

The boys turn back around so they can face her.

"Yeah, it was easy for everyone in my family," Tony tells her cooly, with the tiniest amount of disdain in his voice.

As Daisy inches closer to them she pauses in her steps. "Tony..." She trails off, not knowing the words to say to him.

He shrugs, not meeting her eyes. "It's fine. I'll be able to do it too eventually."

Daisy opens her mouth to say something but stops and her head tilts slightly. Her body becomes completely still. "Did you leave the car on?" Her voice comes out almost a whisper, watching the trees behind the two boys.

"No, why?" Tony asks her, a hint of worry in his voice. He glances at the forest behind him when he notices her unwavering gaze.

Jensen turns to find nothing behind them as well. His eyebrows furrow in confusion and he listens closely, searching for the humming sound, but instead, hears voices.

"Is there backup on the way?" "No, there's only three of them." "There's only four of us. We're outnumbered, they're supernatural, remember!" "Not with these guns, we're not." "Oh, baby! This could do some serious damage..."

"Somebody else is here... They're talking about us." Daisy tells them quietly, still listening to the men.

"Remember, we prefer them alive, but if they fight back... shoot to kill. These are dangerous creatures. They will look like teenagers, but trust me, they are not human."

"They're here to kill us," her voice becomes urgent. She looks back at the boys, whose eyes have widened as well. Daisy's face begins to pale as she hears the sound of doors slamming shut on their car.

Jensen looks between them waiting for someone to offer up a solution to their new problem.

"Let's get out of here," Tony says and motions for them to follow him and begins to jog in the direction of where he parked the car.

Jensen and Daisy don't hesitate to follow him and soon they're all sprinting.

When the three of them reach the shaded trees, out of the open field, they each lean against a tree, only slightly peeking out to watch the grassy field littered with random spots of pavement.

They listen closely for the strangers but hear nothing.

"What do we do?" Jensen turns to the other two teens.

Tony glances at Jensen before returning his eyes to the open area. "We have to run," he says, his eyes not moving.

Jensen hears the unidentified men begin to talk again.

"They're going on the opposite side, now's the time to go," Daisy says and pushes off the tree.

The three of them make a break for it for the second time.

They almost make it to Tony's car when a man with a rather large gun appears in their path. He is quickly followed by three more burly soldier-esque men carrying guns larger than surely legal.

The teenager's skid to stop, causing Daisy's shoulder to bump into Jensen's back. He reaches his left hand back to steady her. Without removing it, they turn back to the strangers.

All of the men have big, beefy arms, and wear black outfits resembling the military. But what causes chills to creep up Jensen's spine, are the huge guns mirroring those of which could be found in an Avengers movie, in their hands.

"Well, crap," Tony whispers.
