Daisy raises a blonde eyebrow at the smiling boy, his Italian heritage very evident from his tan skin, dark eyes, and very wavy chocolate brown hair. The stranger looks slightly familiar to her, but she can't quite remember why.

"Um hi, did you see the sticker?" She points her finger at the window next to the door.

He glances at the sign that reads, 'No Soliciting,' and then shakes his head. "No, sorry, I'm not selling anything, actually, I'm here to talk to you."

"About what?" she asks him warily, not keen on the idea that this stranger wants to randomly talk to her specifically. An unnerving feeling settles in her stomach.

"About the bite you received yesterday," he tells her bluntly. His smile dims as her expression changes into one of anger, and her eyes fill with fear.

Daisy sucks in a sharp breath and her grip on the door tightens. "Thanks for the information, Alec. Now I'm going to go call the cops." Daisy tries to slam the door in his face, but his arm shoots out at lightning speed, catching the door mid-slam.

"Oh, yeah? With what evidence? You can't prove anything!" he shouts as she disappears into her house, running out of his sight. "Please, let me explain," he pleads. His dark eyes scan the cluttered interior of the house.

Hidden behind a wall inside her home, Daisy's whole body shakes. Flashes of the previous night play in her head, causing a shiver to creep over her whole body. A million thoughts go through her mind and she weighs the pros and cons of hearing out the man standing on her porch.

She pulls out her phone from her pocket and her finger hovers above the keypad that's lit up on the screen. With a huff, she lets her head drop against the wall with a soft thump.

Then, hesitantly, and besides her better judgment, Daisy steps out from behind the wall concealing her. She slowly walks back toward the open doorway, but still a couple of feet away from the frame, standing in far away from Alec now.

"Fine. Explain." Her arms cross over her chest and she shifts on the balls of her feet.

Alec gives her a reassuring smile before he starts talking. "Well, for starters I'm a werewolf—"

As soon as the last syllable of "werewolf" leaves his mouth, the door fully slams shut in his face, before he could react this time.

Daisy slides down the door to sit on the ground. She leans forward and puts her head in her hands. Soft, golden hair falls over her pale fingers and gently brushes the ground between her legs. One thought races through her mind, This can't be real. That line repeats over and over in her head.

"I can prove it! Come on! Why are you being so difficult!" He yells from the other side of the door.

Outside, Alec's jaw clenches in annoyance. He shakes his head. The least this girl could do is hear me out, he thinks to himself.

"You're crazy!" Daisy shouts at him, her voice cracking with each syllable.

She wants to add, leave before I call the cops, again, but some very minuscule part of her believes that he's telling the truth. It occurs to her that this could actually explain everything that she's going through. But then again, it's so ridiculously far fetched. This can't be real, she rationalizes in her head.

"I'm not bad... or evil. I promise. I know right now that doesn't mean much to you."

Daisy scoffs as a tear rolls down her cheek. He's very right about that.

Alec reaches into his pocket on the other side of the door. "But, at least let me give you an address. You don't have to come, but I just want you to at least think about it."

The girl rises from the ground as Alec grows silent. She hears the tearing of paper and then it's silent for a few seconds.

As she waits, she stares numbly at the plain, white door in front of her. She can faintly hear footsteps retreating outside.

Daisy waits for a few minutes before opening the door again. Sticking out from under the welcome mat is a green piece of paper with something written in black ink on it. She picks it up and quickly closes the door back and locks it as well as deadbolting it, just as an extra precaution.

When she reads the messily written address on the torn piece of paper, she recognizes it immediately. The address belongs to the home of the Moretti's, where she has visited her closest friend, Tony, too many times to count over the past few years.

Then, like deja vu, Daisy realizes that she has seen the man on her doorstep. Tony has an older brother named Alessandro, and she has seen him in numerous pictures that litter the interior of the Moretti's house.

Alec must be short for Alessandro, that's why I didn't recognize his name... Daisy pulls out her phone again, shooting her mom a quick text. I'll be at Tony's today so I'll probably be over there when you get home.

She puts her phone down and then runs up the stairs, going straight to her room.

Daisy grabs her car keys and stops still in front of the door, questioning her judgment once again. She never was one for good judgment, so she opens the door and gets in her car.

Once Daisy reaches the Moretti's home, she can already hear the joy inside. The sound of Mamá Moretti yelling at one of her children brings a smile to her face as she knocks on the door.

A couple of seconds later, the door swings open to reveal a middle-aged Italian man with a rather large stomach. "Daisy-James! My favorite daughter-in-law!" Papà Moretti engulfs her in a hug.

The golden-haired girl gives a small smile as the man chuckles. "Stop, Papà, it's never going to happen," she tells him, pulling away from the hug.

The balding man shakes his head and smiles down at the girl warmly. But, she notices that it doesn't quite reach his eyes. "A man can dream, aye?" He places his arm around the girl's shoulders as he leads her into the house. A weird feeling settles into her stomach the closer they get to the center of the house.

"Sure, Papà," she says as they enter the living room. People shout greetings and kids run up to hug the girl after Papà announces her arrival.

The parents of the children watch the kids with sad eyes, seemingly internally cringing at their happiness, but not saying anything. Something is definitely off, Daisy still can't shake the weird feeling that grows with every second she stands there.

After she hugs the children, an olive-skinned boy, with neatly styled, curly brown hair, approaches her. For a second, she forgets the worry in her stomach, and a smile forms on her lips.

"Hey, Tony," she says to the boy who is at least a head taller than her.

"Hey, Daisy. I would hug you but Papà might get the wrong idea and make us get married on the spot." Tony laughs but Daisy gives a small smile that looks closer to a grimace. They both laugh at the facial expression that she made. Then, for a split-second, his expression falters, and he looks sad. But it's quickly covered up by a crooked smile, but not quick enough that Daisy doesn't notice.

Instead of asking him what's wrong, she suddenly remembers why she's there in the first place. Her trauma takes over any thoughts of Tony's odd reaction. Daisy looks over her shoulder, looking for any sign of his older brother.

Tony touches his hand to the side of her shoulder, causing her to jump slightly from the unexpected contact. She spins around to face him and watches as a look of fear enters his dark irises.

"What's wrong?" He asks her, knitting his eyebrows together.

Daisy's mouth parts and she stares back at him in confusion. How did he know? Instead of responding, she looks down at her feet and does what most girls do in these types of situations. "Nothing. I'm fine." She manages to bring a small smile to her lips and she looks back up to meet his eyes.

Tony stares at her knowingly but thankfully doesn't push it.

However, now it's Daisy's turn. "What about you, and Papá? And everyone else?" She nods her head towards the four adults in the living room that casually lounge in chairs and couches.

Isabella whispers something to her husband, Kai. Both of them wear frowns and sit a good distance from each other. On the other side of the room, Luna sits with her head resting in her palm while her husband, Joshua, rubs his hand on her back. Unlike the other adults, he smiles and talks with his youngest daughter, Courtney, who absentmindedly plays with a toy, red truck on the carpet.

"I'll tell you later," Tony tells her quietly.

She turns back to look at him and nods. By his eyes alone, she can tell that it's something serious. Seems they were a pretty down-trodden couple. We sure do make a pair, the corners of Daisy's mouth turn up at the thought.

"So, are you excited to turn 19 in a couple of weeks?" she asks him, changing the subject. She playfully nudges his arm with her elbow.

Tony shrugs, making the black fabric of the hoodie wrinkle around his neck. "Just another year, you know," Tony tells her. His dark brown, almost black eyes, watch her thoughtfully. He clearly is still in his head about something. About what, Daisy still has yet to find out.

She nods her head but freezes when her eyes catch a familiar pair of dark irises past Tony's shoulder, in the hallway leading to the kitchen. They're almost identical to Tony's, but they're not his.

Tony looks over his shoulder to see Alec standing there, staring back at Daisy. He picks up on the tension immediately. "How do you guys know each other?" He asks Daisy, his nonchalant demeanor instantly replaced with anger. His jaw is clenched and his hands are quickly removed from his pockets.

Daisy's gaze moves from Alec to Tony in a second. "I... uh..." She searches for words, but can't seem to find any. Her throat begins to feel like it is closing up and fear and anxiety pulses through her small body. Her heart pounds in her chest and the erratic beat fills her ears.

"I bit her." A voice speaks up. They both turn to face Alec, who stands there still like nothing's wrong with that statement.

"Why the hell would you do that!" Tony roars as he pushes his brother's chest, sending him flying backward and falling onto his side in the hallway. Tony throws himself forward, fully intending to pounce on his brother, but stops himself as his brother's face transforms.

Daisy can just barely see Alec from behind Tony, but she knows the glimpse of yellow eyes and fangs were not her imagination. It's all real, she realizes suddenly. The harsh reality now sets in. She's a werewolf. He's a werewolf. Then, she thinks, Are they all werewolves? Her eyes widen.

"Smettere!" Stop! Papà rushes into the room. The sudden shouting brings Daisy back to the situation happening in front of her.

He steps in between his sons and huffs. "Quit this now! You are men before you are wolves!" He glares at each of them.

"Papà, ha trasformato Daisy!" Tony tells his fatherly angrily. His fists shake at his sides.

Papà turns to glance at the girl standing behind Tony. Sadness is displayed in his eyes as he looks at the girl he considers as another daughter.

"You turned her?" Papà turned to Alec, disappointment lacing his gruff voice.

Alec stands up and brushes off his clothes. He looks at his father dead in the eyes. "I didn't know she was so important to you all. Their numbers are rising, while ours are falling. I can't just sit around and do nothing! What did you expect me to do! I used Ari's life to create another one of us. It had to be done." His teeth retract and the yellow in his eyes fades back into the signature Moretti dark eyes.

Papà sighs and rubs his temple with his index finger and his thumb. "I expected you to do just that... and..." He turns to look at Daisy, his eyes lacking the luster they contained earlier. "There is nothing we can do about it now."

"Daisy, I didn't get to explain anything," Alec speaks up, taking a step towards the girl. She takes one back in return.

Tony swiftly steps between the two. Facing his brother, he narrows his eyes at him while crossing his arms. "You're not going to be explaining anything to her." He turns back to Daisy, who hasn't moved an inch. "Come on," Tony tells her softly and grabs her arm gently, leading her away.

They leave the living room filled with most of Tony's family and enter the hallway.

Just before they're out of view, Daisy turns her head and catches the gaze of one of the young Moretti children. She realizes that there were a lot more people in the room beside the two brothers and her. Embarrassment suddenly sets in and she looks away quickly.

A wonderful aroma surrounds them as they take a turn into the kitchen at the very back of the Moretti house. Tony drops his hand from her arm and greets his mother, the only person in the kitchen. "Hey, Mamá."

In the kitchen, is a thin, short woman, with dark hair pulled back into a braid that reaches just below her ribcage. "What was all that racket?" She asks in a thick Italian accent, not bothering to turn to look at her son.

"Mamá," Tony says weakly, causing the woman to turn away from her cooking.

Her dark eyes widen as they land on the girl standing next to him. "Oh, Daisy James!" Her slender arms reach out as she rushes over to the girl, pulling her into her arms when she finally reaches her.

"Hey, Mamá," Daisy says softly as the older woman pulls away from the hug, leaving her hands still resting on her shoulders. Her nimble fingers brush through the girl's fine, golden hair.

A frown sets on her thin lips. "What's wrong, my dear?"

Daisy draws in a sharp breath before responding, "Uh... well, I'm not really sure I guess." Her hazel eyes lift from Mamá to the boy standing next to her.

Mamá Moretti's identical dark eyes meet Tony's. Her dark eyebrows raise slightly as she waits for him to explain.

Tony awkwardly shifts on his feet, not meeting either of their penetrating gazes, but staring at the ground instead. He sighs and shakes his head before looking back up at them. Then, he begins to explain the situation.
