i sat down at my locker and drank some of my water. the team was just talking about random things just the normal.

"yall bam sent me some flowers" a'ja said making me look up from my phone.

"oh decided to get his crap together ??" tip said making me laugh and shake my head.

"hey now ntm" a'ja said mugging her.

"im glad, bam done stepped up iktr" i said smiling.

"he was just mad yall act like he cheated on me or sum" a'ja said rolling her eyes.

"but he was mad about nothing really. and it wasn't even that he was mad it was the fact that he was being childish about it" kp said.

"exactly cus who gets mad about sb missing the game ON TV ??" chelsea said emphasizing the last part.

"nalyssa i got a question" syd said. oh lord what she finna ask.

"oh lord" kiah said making us laugh.

"not today kiah renee stokes" syd said pointing at her.

"girl don't do that" kiah replied.

"anywho, does it bother you that jackie is 3 years older than you ??" syd asked making me look at nalyssa.

"noo, i love mine older. very mature and older women just does it for me" she said making me giggle as my cheeks heated up.

we heard a phone go off and it was kb's so everyone talked a little lower so she could hear it. i could hear her gasp making me look up at her.

"what ?? what happened ?" kate asked.

"what ?? no bro stop" kb said as her face turned red quickly.

"kb you okay ??" megan asked.

"the way her face just turned red in .2 seconds" ac said. i got up and walked over to her.

"okay im otw" she said before hanging up .

"what's wrong ?" i asked.

"nothing" she mumbled as she quickly grabbed her stuff.

"kb baby ik you again wassup ?"

"it's ma" she said.

"and what about her ??" i asked confused.

"she died" was all she said making my heart drop.

"kb don't do ts to me.. i literally just talked to her 12 hours ago tf you mean she's dead ?" i asked.

"she's gone. my brother just called and told me. i gotta go" she said as her voice cracked. her eyes were filled with tears and her face was red.

"im so sorry kb.. call me if you need me and let me know about the arrangements okay ?" i said hugging her tightly.

she nodded and then the rest of the team gave her hugs. crazy cus i just talked to her not to long ago and she sounded fine.

"call me later" nalyssa said as kb hugged her tightly. aww i just love them.. my babies anyways that's besides the point rn.

"we love you kb" kp said.

"love yall" she said as she wiped her tears.

"dang" chelsea whispered.

"right ?? i just her emotions are everywhere cus her mom wasn't a good mom and kb new that but she still loved her." tip said.

"she ain't gone know if she should be sad about her death or relieved. our poor baby guys" ac said.

"jack you okay ?? we know yall been close since kids" kiah asked making me shake my head.

"yeah i appreciate yall" i said giving them a weak smile.

although kb's mom wasn't a good mom kb loved her so i accepted her too. and we both know she had issues and needed help and we tried to get that for her but you can't help anyone who don't wanna be helped.

"my heart hurt for her" a'ja said.

"yeah. it's like back to back loses for her. i can't remember the last time kb was genuinely happy and she was just getting that spark back" i said.

i finished talking to the team and headed to my car with nalyssa walking beside me.

"you okay mama ? im here if you wanna talk" she said making smile.

"im okay baby. it's just shocking atp but i appreciate you" i said wrapping my arms around her neck.

"i love you and im here" she said wrapping her arms around my waists.

"i love you more" i said pecking her lips.

"so i just talked to kb and she's at home with her family who's currently sulking" i said plopping down beside jack.

"heartbroken asf for her" jack said shaking her head.

"so i was thinking if you wanted to do like a date night this weekend ??" i asked.

"i would love too but i can't, im gonna go be with kb and her family and help them with the funeral arrangements"

"im sorry" she said and i smiled and nodded.

"that's okay i understand my love. we'll do it another time" i said interlocking our fingers and she smiled and nodded.

i laid my head on her chest and she lightly rubbed my forehead. scrolling on tiktok i saw a lot of edits of jack and i making me smile. i hearted them and saved them.

"look" i said showing jack the edits making her smile.

"aww that's fire" she said.

"right and the fans named us jalyssa" i smirked.

"period, i love that. that eats down so bad whoever came up with that ate down" jack said and i nodded.

a few minutes later someone rang the door bell making jackie and i look at each other.

"are you expecting anyone ??" i asked and she nodded her head no confusingly.

we got up and walked to the door and took a deep breath.

"do you want me to open it baby" she asked.

"please" i mumbled and she nodded.

"don't stress mama, we're fine love" she said opening the door where i saw my best friend kelsey at the door making me gasp.

"omg bestie what are you doing here ?" i asked hugging her tightly.

"surprise" she said.

"im so glad you're here" i said as jackie shut the door behind her.

"hey jack" she said hugging her.

"hey it's good to see you" jackie replied.

"so what's tea ?? or did you just come to see me" i asked.

"well you're my best friend, you moved, and i missed you so i came to see you" she said smiling.

"okay im gonna give you two some alone time. i will be in the room checking my emails if you need me" jackie said pecking my lips.

"okay" i smiled as she walked to my room.

"so how are you ??" kels asked as i made us iced tea.

"better.. much better" i smiled.

"mental health is good, and i just got off my antidepressants. i've been happier and my anxiety has been manageable and calm" i said.

"aww im so happy for you. and so proud you been through so much but you really pushing through the pain & you're shining so bright" she said.

"thank youu kels. that means a lot and you being here since day 1 i could really call you no matter what you was there. i couldn't ask for a better best friend fr" i said hugging her.

"im sorry to interrupt the cute bestie moment but im about to door-dash waffle house yall want some ?" jack asked making me smile cus im so hungry.

"yes please im so hungry" i whined.

"yeah im always down to eat" kels said making us giggle.

"period" jack said as she looked at her phone.

we walked to the couch and sat down & i rested my head on jackie's lap and kelsey scrolled through netflix tryna find sum to watch.
