nalyssa's pov:

i got out of my car and walked towards my apartment complex. i just finished a late night session & it's almost 11 p.m. right now.

walking towards my apartment i grabbed my keys out of my bag and unlocked the door. i felt someone push me inside making me fall to the floor.

"wth ? get off me you creep" i yelled as he pinned me down.

"get off" i yelled. ik that it was most likely a robbery cus he took my chain and my watch.

he dragged me too my room putting me on my bed. getting on top me i kicked and screamed.

"get tf off of me" i yelled. i scratched his face aggressively and i felt him go inside me making me yell out in pain.

"ow you're hurting me" i yelled scratching him. i was kicking, scratching, screaming everything and he just won't stop.

i continued to hit and kick but it was only making him mad so i just gave up. he unbuckled his pants making my eyes widen.

i quickly got up but he pulled me back down by my afro.

"keep yelling and i will kill you" he deep voice said. i felt my eyes feel with tears as he went deeper.

"help me" i cried out. he wrapped his hand around my throat aggressively making me exhale deeply.

not long after he finished he grabbed my watch, chains, and some brand new shoes that i just bought.

i slowly got out of bed and called my best friend. it rang 2x before she answer.

"hey lyss what's up ?" my best friends voice spoke over the phone.

"i n-need you can you come over" i asked in tears.

"ofc what happened ?" she asked.

"i will tell you when you get here" i told her.

after saying our goodbyes i called the police and they wanted me to go get a rape test kit done but i had to wait for kels.

"girl what the heck happened ? theirs police everywhere outside" she said.

"someone attacked me and then he raped me and took my chains and watch" i said.

"omg do you wanna stay with me ?" she asked and i nodded.

"okay let's get you to the hospital" she said pulling me up. we walked out to her car and she drove us to the hospital.

never did i think something like this would happen to me but the complex that i live in is filled with crack addicts and gang bangers.

"i told you it wasn't safe to stay there lyss" my best friend said.

"yeah ik but im saving so that i can get a house" i mumbled and she nodded.

"well we gone get through this girl. yk im here for you every step" she said making me give her a weak smile.

"thank you" i said hugging her. not long after the nurse showed up so that i could get tested. lord i hope im not pregnant.

flashback over.

3 months later🫶🏾.

nalyssa🐐.

"im gonna miss you" i said hugging my best friend.

"imma miss you more but this will be good for you" she said making me smile. she's always been so supportive in everything that i do.

"WE LOVE YOU LYSSIE POOH" the team yelled making me smile.

"I LOVE YOU GUYS" i said.

"good luck in vegas.. go be great" coach white said.

"thank you coach" i said.

i was picked up by the las vegas aces & it's a blessing in disguise. im so grateful for them and my team.

after the attack i knew i could not stay here in indiana no matter how much i love it. the excitement is gone. i feel so empty here and im always scared to sleep at night. i don't feel safe anymore.

i finished getting the last of my stuff and told the team goodbye one more time before getting on my flight to vegas definitely gonna sleep through this plane ride. all this packing got me tired.

"so i want you guys to make nalyssa feel at home and welcomed. we all know what she went through and why she left indiana so please unless she willingly talks about don't ask about it" becky said and we nodded.

my heart really goes out to nalyssa. i can't imagine how traumatic that is for her. im happy that we get to keep her tho cus we all know she's a dog on the court.

"i feel so bad for her" chelsea said as we walked to the locker room.

"right ?? like genuinely i would've been crashed tf out" syd said.

"yeah we know" i said as we laughed.

"well yall know what.. now we gotta make her feel like she's worthy of being here. like becky said let's not ask her about it unless she talks about it herself" a'ja said.

a few seconds later becky called us back out cus she's finally here.

"guys welcome our new forward nalyssa smith. welcome and we are so happy to have you" becky said.

"thank you coach, and im happy to be here. i really appreciate you guys taking me under your wings especially with everything that's going on. i can't wait to work with you guys" she said making us smile and clap.

looking at her we could tell she feel empty as h*ll. the way she looked down at her feet. she talked lowly and she didn't smile.

"GROUP HUG NEWBIE" a'ja yelled and we did a group hug.

"now you guys get to her and vv im gonna finish ordering her stuff" becky said and we nodded.

"so tell us um.. what's your family like ??" i asked.

"normal. my parents are amazing and i have a sister" she said lowly.

"well we can't wait to meet them. and you're gonna love this team you were meant to be here" i said smiling at her.

"thanks" she mumbled.

"okay come we gotta give you a mini tour" ac said pulling her up.

we showed her around the facility and were we lift weights, practice, and ofc the locker room. i think that her coming here is gonna be good for her and the team. im excited tho.
