i quickly sat up drenched in sweat. i looked around and saw that i was in jackie's old room. i haven't had a nightmare in a minute.

but being back in indiana has had me feeling uneasy and unsafe and it's harder for me to gts. i really thought i could do this.

i exhaled and grabbed my phone, put on my slides and a hoodie. i quietly walked outside to get some fresh air & i was quiet not wake jackie or anyone else.

the medication i was prescribed for the nightmares worked but i haven't been taking them since i stopped have them.

being back here just feels so wrong and so unsafe. i called my sister in hopes that she is still awake. it rang 2x before it connected making me exhale.

"hey sis what's wrong ?" she asked.

"idk i had a nightmare" i said.

"is it cus because you're in indiana ?" she asked.

"definitely" i said as my leg bounced quickly.

"just take a deep breath sis. that man is in jail and he can never hurt you or anyone else ever again" she said.

"you have every right to be scared and paranoid and it's totally normal but jack is not gonna let anyone hurt you" my sister said and i nodded.

"now you should go back to bed be all up under her cus that's what helps you sleep and at least try to sleep a little longer" niah told me.

"okay thank you for being here" i said.

"ofc that what sisters are for" she said.

after we said our goodbyes we hung up. i just took the time to reflect on like cus im exhausted tbh i don't even know what im doing anymore.

"you okay" jackie asked touching my shoulder making me jump up.

"woah it's just me" she said holding her hands up.

"jeez you don't get tired of scaring tf out of me" i said leveling out my breathing. i could feel the tears run down my face.

"im sorry i didn't mean to scare you baby. you were out of bed so i came to check on you.. what's going on ?" she asked softly.

"i had another nightmare and i came to get some fresh air. i just finished talking to my sister" i said rubbing my forehead.

"im sorry that i scared you love" she said hugging me.

"it's fine" i mumbled.

"you haven't had a nightmare in weeks mama. is it bcus you're back in indiana ?" jack asked me.

"yeahh" i mumbled.

"i understand you're paranoid and scared and it's normal for you to feel that way cus your still healing from trauma".

"but we're not gonna let anything happen to you baby." she said wiping my tears.

"idk why i thought i could do this" i said.

"you can do it mama. it's not you're fault at all. but if you wanna leave early we can. im not gonna put you through that making you stay when ik what it's doing to you" she said.

"no i'll be okay" i said.

"you sure love ?? i can't imagine how uneasy and so unsafe you feel. you look miserable asf so if you wanna go back to vegas let's go. don't put yourself through that just for me" jack told me.

"yeah im sure.. i really like your family and kelsey is here so im gonna stay the whole week. as long as i take this medication for them imma be good" i said making her nod.

"okay i love you" she said hugging me tightly.

"i love you more" i mumbled into her shoulder.

"okay let's get you back to bed baby. you need sleep" she said grabbing my hand. she led me back to her room and we got into bed.

"i will protect you forever my love" she whispered kissing my forehead. i yawned lightly and wrapped my arms around her waist.

i will always need her touch in order to fall asleep and feel safe especially being back here in indiana.

"how's it going ??" a'ja asked as we were on a 3 way call with kp as well.

"good she loves my family and my family loves her" i smiled.

"how is she like yk ?? cus being back to the place where such a traumatic experience happened can be a lot to handle" kp said.

"she's okay, only nightmares when she's sleeping. i told her we could just head back cus im not gonna put her through that by keeping her here and she's suffering" i said.

"but she said no. like she wanted to spend time with my family and kelsey so" i said.

"so a'ja.. you and bamonte ?" i asked smirking making her blush.

"aww she's blushing" kp teased.

"omg stop" she said hiding her face.

"we're good tho. and my man thank you to my man" she said making me laugh and shake my head.

"aht aht nope don't even" kp said as i was about to say sum.

"well dang" i said laughing.

i heard a knock on the door making me look at the door.

"come in" i said still looking at myself through the mirror as i finished doing my hair.

"hey your mom said breakfast is ready" she said.

"okay im almost done love" i said and she nodded.

"hey lyssa" a'ja said.

"hey a'ja, hey kp" nalyssa said smiling into the camera.

"hey boo how are you ?" kp asked.

"im good" she smiled and they nodded.

"okay guys imma call yall back later" i said.

"okay stay safe".

"i will and yall too" i said.

we said our goodbyes and then hung up. i turned off the lights and walked out of the bathroom were i saw lyssa looking in her suitcase.

"what you looking for mama ?" i asked.

"my pills" she said as she quickly and aggressively looked under her clothes.

"yeah about that, i have them" i said.

"why ?" she asked looking up at me.

"because you took 2 earlier and you was only supposed to take 1" i said.

"yeah but 1 doesn't help" she said walking up to me.

"that's not safe tho baby. you keep taking these the way you're taking them you could overdose or become addicted" i said.

"look let's just eat first and then we'll see if talking to my family will help calm you down" i said and she nodded.

we walked to the kitchen where my family were. i sat down beside kiare and lyssa sat down beside terrance simply because we can never really keep our hands to ourselves.

"so we should have a girls day" kiare suggested.

"you too mom" she added.

"okay i don't mind hanging with the young folks" she said making us laugh.

"awesome so girls day on jackie" kiare said making me mug her.

"you got some nerve heffa" i said.

"now yk jackie cheap" my uncle said.

"okay now you doing to much now uncle stephen" i said making us laugh.

we finished breakfast and then we headed out for a girls day. i don't think nalyssa to fund of getting her nails done but she gone do it today cus yeah.
