'Two households, both alike in dignity, 

 In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, 

 From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, 

 Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.' 

 The Capp and Moniz families have only two rules: Don't fall in love with the other family and don't be gay. Unfortunately, Romila Moniz and Juliet Capp are about to break those rules. Even their families hate can't break them apart, only death could do that. Based on the play 'Romeo and Juliet' by William Shakespeare.

  1. {Selcouth questions} Were you always an avid reader or writer? 

{Emily answers} Yes, I was always an avid reader. I grew up obsessed with Harry Potter, I was him for Halloween in kindergarten. Since I learned to read I knew I wanted to write. So when I started learning to write I wrote stories. They obviously weren't very good but as I got older they developed and grew with me. 

  2. {Selcouth questions} How did you get the idea for your book-Heroes: Wherefore Art Thou?

{Emily answers} Originally, it was nothing like it is today. No Shakespeare at all. After I read Romeo and Juliet and fell in love with the play and Shakespeare in general I made a connection between my characters Demi and Liùsaidh and Romeo and Juliet, I rewrote the entire plot. Now Demi and Liùsaidh are Romila and Juliet.

  3. {Selcouth questions} Is the theme or protagonist, of your book, related to you or your life?  

{Emily answers} I guess it kind of is. My family may not realize it but they can be very homophobic, a lot. So, I can relate to my characters struggle of trying to find out who they are and dealing with homophobic people in a homophobic world.

4. {Selcouth questions} Who inspires you to write?

{Emily answers} J.K. Rowling. She is the reason I wanted to be an author. Real life has also inspired me to write. The hate and prejudice in the world has inspired me to write about hate and prejudice and why it is so wrong.

  5. {Selcouth questions} In the near future, do you have plans to take your writing, to a new level? 

{Emily answers} Yes, I always have. I've been editing and rewriting a lot in hopes of publishing my book. 

6. {Selcouth questions} How does it feel, to be the winner of The Spice Awards?

{Emily answers} It feels great. I'm so grateful to have been given this chance to participate in these awards. I'm so proud to know I won and hope to improve my writing even more after this.
