Interview-24: Moments, by Jazzi1214

Camille Raven has a great life. She's got a great family, is doing absolutely amazing in her last year of high-school, and has a loving boyfriend. Life couldn't be better.

That all comes crashing down at the hands of Ethan Grand. He's annoying, arrogant, rude, and cute. And it's all his fault.

Well, not exactly. Technically, Jake Donner is to blame. But she could also blame alcohol, the holiday season, or annoying boys.

But she's the one who agreed to the dare. The dare that prompted her to slap Ethan for no apparent reason.

Maybe if she hadn't slapped him, he wouldn't have made her life terrible. But she also wouldn't have found a great friend, seen the error of her ways, or realized the true meaning of love.

All this coming from slapping her parents' bosses' son.

1. {Selcouth questions} Were you always an avid reader or writer?

{Jasmine answers} I have always been an avid reader and writer. I've loved to both read and write since I was very young.

  2. {Selcouth questions} How did you get the idea for your book-Moments?

{Jasmine answers}  The idea for my book started out super weird, actually. I went to Stone Mountain in Georgia for Thanksgiving with my family. They have a small amusement park there, and it was Christmas themed.

During the middle of the Christmas through the ages show, I got a weird idea that was spurred by the songs they were singing and the different scenes. Why not write a book about encounters between two people around Christmas?

I originally decided to have them meet at a park coincidentally and then they keep going back to talk to each other. In the next ten minutes, I had the entire story planned. The next day, during the five hour car drive back to Florida, I started writing.

The park scene didn't really flow as I wrote it, so I switched it up. A party. Somehow, the dare, the tutoring, and everything else just happened.

And that's how I came up with the story.

  3. {Selcouth questions} Wow! That's a tale in itself. Moving on...Is the theme or protagonist, of your book, related to you or your life?

{Jasmine answers} The main protagonist kind of relates to me in certain ways. Camille is a very happy person, which I can only say that I am sometimes. She's smart, but is also extremely gullible, and not very open to change. So when her life gets turned upside down from one simple dare, it gets very weird for her. I don't really like change either, so I guess there's that.

4. {Selcouth questions} Who inspires you to write?

{Jasmine answers} A lot of things and people inspire me to write. Other writers, other works, and the fact that writing lets me express my feelings. One of the big things that inspires me to write is my sister. My older sister taught me how to read, and with my love of reading came the love of writing. So that's a huge inspiration.

  5. {Selcouth questions} In the near future, do you have plans to take your writing, to a new level?

{Jasmine answers} I actually do. I would like to, in the future, publish some of my stories outside of Wattpad. I would like to make a living as an author.

  6. {Selcouth questions} How does it feel, to be the winner of The Spice Awards?

{Jasmine answers} To be a winner of The Spice Awards is a huge honor. I legit screamed when I saw that I won. It's a wonderful experience to know that my writing is good enough to win something. Thank you so much!
