Interview-13: Yoni, by kemorgan65

Hi! My name is Steve and I have a strange story to tell. I don't dare to tell my Mom about it, nor any of my friends... They wouldn't believe me.

But I'll tell you, because to you I'm anonymous...

1. {Selcouth questions} Were you always an avid reader or writer?

{Kemorgan65 answers} I was always an avid reader as a child. I remember, as an eleven-year-old, going to the library, borrowing 10 to 12 books at a time, having three weeks on me to read them, and finish them within a week. I'd be back at the library the following week to borrow another batch.

Writing was the same. I recall my first story being written in a thin exercise book of about a dozen pages, about a pair of twins. This was before my seventh birthday. There were many story-starts since then, but the first one I seriously completed was a tween-novel that I actually sent to a publisher when I was 12. It got rejected of course, and when I received the returned manuscript a year or so later, I could see why. It was awful! LOL. I had matured a little in my writing by then.

I'd been writing on and off as a hobby continuously until I started university. At that point I had to shelve it, and actually did not write anything until after I joined Wattpad in 2015. That was a 26-year hiatus. So now I'm back on a roll again and am focusing on finishing my full-length novel, Shadow of the Past ∞ a 'trilogy' – the idea for which I got when I'd just started high school!

  2. {Selcouth questions} How did you get the idea for your story-Yoni?

{Kemorgan65 answers} I don't remember how I got the idea for 'Yoni', I originally wrote it so long ago – in 1984. Probably inspired by Thumbelina. Oh, and I used to have a couple of budgies as pets as a child, that is what inspired the setting and the initial idea. The birds had the same names too, but they were never tame enough to sit on my shoulders... much to my regret... This story made up for that!

 3. {Selcouth questions} Is the theme or protagonist, of your book, related to you or your life?

{Kemorgan65 answers} No.

4. {Selcouth questions} Who inspires you to write?

{Kemorgan65 answers} I haven't thought about who inspires me to write, it has always been a driving force within me. I love good stories, and I love writing. I suppose just the fact that I loved to read made me want to write.

  5. {Selcouth questions} In the near future, do you have plans to take your writing, to a new level?

{Kemorgan65 answers} Next level, like publishing? I imagine so. I'm not putting a focus on that until I've actually completed #ShadowOfThePastTrilogy . Readers have told me they can see that story as a movie or a mini series as well. Is there anyone out there who knows how to write a screenplay? If you're up for a collaboration, drop me a line! ;-)

  6. {Selcouth questions} How does it feel, to be the winner of The Spice Awards?

{Kemorgan65 answers} That was a thrillingly pleasant surprise. 'Yoni' is a playful story that I'd never really taken seriously, or even thought that it had the potential to win a competition. So, thanks much, Spice Awards! ;-)
