Chapter Eleven

"Nngh..." Ross woke with a groan. He opened his slowly, blinking away the harshness of the hospital lights. He lifted his head from Max's bed, stretching.

"good morning, Sleeping Beauty."

He jumped spinning in his chair. "Adam! Don't do that!"

His friend chuckled. "Sorry man. I took the liberty of uploading your video, you left your phone unlocked. Hope you don't mind."

"How are people taking it it?"

"The fans are freaking the fuck out, but that's nothing compared to our friends. I got at least seven frantic calls from Barney, Red, and Tim each. Those three should get here any second."

Ross rubbed his head. "And...how long was I out?"

Adam shrugged. "Only about an hour. Nothing's changed. Max is still...well, they way he is."

The door was suddenly thrown open with a bang, and Tim, Barney, and Red burst through, piling into the room. "Max!" Their chorus of voices echoed in the tiny room as the three men swarmed Max's bedside.

Ross' heart began to race, thumping painfully in his chest. The room seemed to get significantly darker, blood pounding in his ears as he pulled his knees up to his chest, curling into a ball on the chair. He vaguely noticed he was hyperventilating, unable to get enough air into his lungs as he stared at Max's face. All he could hear was the roar of his blood and the beeping of the red-head's heartbeat.

Adam was saying something. He was shouting, but it sounded like he was underwater, his voice indecipherable. Then Adam was in front of him, hauling him off the chair and leading him to the quiet of the hallway. Ross immediately slid down the wall, the cool floor feeling good against his seemingly burning skin.

"Ad...Adam...What's...happening?" The brunette had to choke the words out, most getting locked in his throat as he stared at the wall.

"Ross! Ross, calm down! It's an anxiety attack! You gotta calm down, man!" Adam's voice was much clearer than it was in the room.

"An...an...anxiety—"

"Shh, no questions right now. Close your eyes, concentrate on your breathing, even it out. Think of something that relaxes you."

Ross did as he was told, closing his eyes and breathing slowly. As for the last command, his mind went immediately to playing games with Max, whether for a video or just for fun. He could almost hear the red-head's raging, his laughter—

"Very good, Ross. You can open your eyes now."

The brunette obeyed, tears threatening to spill over. His heart had stopped trying to escape his chest, though, and the roaring had died down.

Adam grinned. "There we go! Feel better?"

Ross nodded. "Y-yeah. Thanks, Adam. What w-was that?"

"An anxiety attack."

"But...I've never had those before."

"You've isolated yourself for a long time, Ross. My guess is too many people and too much noise at once overwhelmed you. Don't beat yourself up over it, though. These things happen. Can you stand?"

"I...I think so."

"Come on then. Your pupils are still massively dilated, though. You sure you're okay?"

"Yeah. H-help me up, though?"

Adam lifted him up. Ross staggered,  righted himself, and promptly passed out.

I apologize for the delay on this chapter, but this was very hard to write for me. I do suffer from anxiety attacks, and let me tell you, it's fucking TERRIFYING, especially that first one where you don't know what the fuck is happening. I honestly thought I was dying. But yes, I hope you enjoyed the chapter, and the next will be coming out shortly! Hoo boy, is that one gonna be just a ROLLER COASTER of emotions! mainly a very pissed off and freaking out Adam. You'll see!

And yes, I am aware I keep ending chapters with Ross passing out in some way, I will attempt to be more creative but I make no promises.
