chapter 36

My body feels like it's been through an emotional car crash, I don't think I have ever been in a situation that tense before even when I thought that troll in the dungeon I didn't feel that close to death. I left the throneroom and was ushered outside then into a carriage, one eternity later I was finally able to take my blindfold off in a small dank room.

"Where am I?" I asked, looking around the room, a bed, toilet, and a wooden wardrobe.

"Camp nor" said a cold voice from the doorway, It was the guy in full armour.

"What? What is that?"

"Camp nor" his eyes narrowed. "Army barracks you will be starting basic training to a soldier in the great army of flora"

"I don't want to be a soldier for the great army of flora"

"You and everyone else here"

"What does that mean?"

"Camp nor is a special army barracks, it's one for people who have committed crimes and paying for their crimes by becoming a soldier here"

"I haven't committed a crime"

"HA! Who cares, the king decide you did so you did, before you try and run to escape, the camp is under high security, nobody in the past 40 years has escaped, get some sleep, you have a big day tomorrow" he slammed the door and walked off laughing like a scooby doo villain.

I sat down on the bed, thank god it's not stiff. What am I going to do? How will I get out of her, I hate this country, I hate Harriet, I hate the king and I am going to pray that a meteorite wipes them all off the face of this earth. I stood up and looked out of the window. Barred window, guess that's so I can't escape, I am on the second floor. I don't know what to think of this army base though, from my window all I can see are trees and a mountain in the distance.

In the wardrobe was a quilt and pillow for my bed, workout clothes and a pair of boots. And finally, my door had its little door that opened up into the hallway. I popped my head out and was instantly met by someone with his head peeking through his door across from mine. Large eyes like a big dog and a fluffy brown beard covering most of his face.

"Hi," he said nonchalantly. His voice has a low tone to it

"Hey," I replied.

"What are you in here for?"

"I didn't want to marry to King's daughter" his eyes widened and he let out a hearty chuckle.

"That is hilarious"

"I am glad my misery brings you joy, what are you in for?"

"I stole bread to help feed my sister"

"And they have thrown you in here for that?"

"Yeah, they even wanted to arrest my sisters too, but a friend of mine had taken them Anthena for safety"

"That is good that they are safe, how long have you been here for?"

"Here, two days, I was in jail for 2 months before being brought here though"

"That is a long time"

"Yep. But ay, I get to train to be a soldier for this country"

"Only until you escape"

"Didn't you hear that guy who brought you in? No one has escaped from here in 40 years" Both of us fell silent. I really can't escape. A thought crossed my mind that I don't have the answer to but maybe he does. He was looking down at the floor.

"What happens when we become soldiers?" I asked.

"We go to war, isn't that obvious?" He didn't even pick his head up.

"Go to war and die, cool" then it hit me, "or they think that we die?" Now he picked his head up, "then we head to Anthena? That is where I came from and I have land in Tsmoore"

"Shhhhh!" He liked down both sides of the pale white hallways. "Two things" he whispered. "One I am in let's do that! And second, don't tell anybody here that you have land, they will find a way to blackmail you, want land from you, and it will be a lot of hassle"

"Thank you for telling me," I said honestly, "My name is Ronnie by the way, it's nice to meet you, I would shake your hand but you know, doors in the way.

"Marcus nice to meet you too, that tin man was right we should get some sleep, training starts tomorrow so heads up, they will come around banging to wake us up so don't be surprised".
