Chapter 2 : The Proposal

~~♡~~

" I love you." I said. His eyes widened as he stared at me confused.

"Dude, what the fuck?" Kylan exclaimed.

~ Before this happened ~

So after texting him for a while, I called Kylan. I can't believe I'm calling the Kylan Bergmann. Does this mean we're friends? Wow!

"Hey." I said as he picked up.

"Hello." He replied in a bored tone.

"Hi, I'm Jason."

"Of course... as if I didn't know." He mocked.

"Come on! Don't be like that." I whined. "I'm trying to be  friendly here."

 "Okay, okay. What's up?"

"Nm. You tell me?"

"Dude, we're not doing a friendly exchange. I don't have all night, so cut to the chase, alright?" He said annoyed. "And by 'what's up', I meant tell about whatever advice you want."

"Oh! You didn't have to be so rude about it." I pouted though he couldn't see me.

"Okay, okay. Now stop pouting and tell me, what do you wanna know?"

"Hey, how did you know?"

"Know what?"

"That I'm pouting?"

"I know everything. I know things, that even you don't know about yourself." He tried to sound mysterious. I could almost hear him smirking.

"Okay, enough. Now wipe that smirk off your face, so that we can talk about my love life."

"How did you know?" He asked.

"Know what?" I played along.

"That I'm not interested in your love life and I don't want to waste my time so I'm gonna say goodbye and leave?"

"Heyyy!" I whined.

"Relax, I'm kidding! You're such a whiny kid. Anyways, so  tell me, what is it that you wanna know?"

"So, there's this girl that I really like and she's totally-"

"Name of that girl?" He cut me off.

"Autumn Gibson, junior year, plays basketball, probably trying out for cheerleading this year, her best friend is Ryan, she lives four blocks away from me and she's a Virgo."

"And you're a stalker!" He tried to mimic my voice. "Why did you stop? Tell me what she ate this morning, why don't you?"

"Waffles." I said quietly.

"What the fuck, bro? Seriously? Tell me that was a guess."

"No. Actually, her sister Arianna Gibson, posted it on her Insta today."

"Of course. You know what? Just go and say all  of this to Autumn, and you'd see why you're still single.  What a creep, man!"

"Hey, I  was just trying to know her. These things often come handy."

"Sure bro."

"Heyyy! You promised to help me, dude."

"Okay, first things first, you can't just go and confess out of the blue, you need to know her first. So try befriending her."

"Okay."

"And not like you did with me. Can we be  friends?" He imitated my voice.  "What are you, five? Who approaches people like that?"

"Then what should I do?"

"Be more subtle. Do you have any classes with her?"

"Yeah, many."

"Great! Don't use that time to just stare at her like a creep and use your time smartly. Next day sit next to the seat she usually takes, and then ask her for a pen or something and start a casual conversation. Like, 'Can I have a pen?', then if she offers you one then say thanks otherwise just say never mind and continue the conversation. Like, 'Hey, I'm Jason.' And let her introduce herself, don't say anything stupid; just pretend you don't know her."

"Okay." I nodded.

"And please don't say anything creepy like 'I heard you play basketball', or 'Did you have waffles this morning'."

"Dude! I'm not stupid."

"It didn't seem so a minute earlier. Okay, and after that if the conversation flows, well and good, or else just end the conversation normally. Don't make forced conversations, and do not try to make small talk; girls hate it. Give it some time and talk to her again later. Got it?"

"Yes."

"Great. That's all you need to know for tomorrow. The rest I'll tell you if things go well."

"Hey wait. So I don't ask her for her number or if I can sit with her at lunch or something?" I asked.

"Oh God! No! Please don't. Just don't ruin the least chances that you have with her."

"But I wanna sit with someone at lunch."

"Sit with your friends for the time being."

"I don't have any."

"You've gotta be kidding me." He chuckled as I kept quiet. "Wait, Seriously?"

I nodded, but then I realised that he can't see me so I just muttered a quiet yes.

"Oh God! I thought you're anti-social, but you're a total social pariah." He exclaimed.

"You're so mean! Also, it's unsocial; anti-social are people who're against the society."

"Yeah! Whatever."

"Hey, can I sit with you at lunch?" I asked excited.

"What? No."

"Oh. Okay."

"Heyyy! Now don't sound so sad." He whined. I smiled at that.

"Okay." I did the best sad voice I could.

"I know you're trying to make me feel guilty."

"And... is it working?"

"Well, yes it is." He sighed.

"Good. So see you tomorrow at your table." I said excitedly.

~

As I entered school I saw Kylan. "Hey Kylan, bro." I called him.

"Hey, what do you want?" He asked looking bored out of his mind.

"Why do you look so bored early in the morning?" I asked.

"And why do you look so excited early in the morning?" He questioned. "If you can look so excited, I can look bored as well."

"Fair enough. Anyways, I wanted your help... how to ask someone out?"

"Really? You're not asking her out anytime soon, bro. Don't creep her out."

"I know. It's just, I wanna practice. You see I'm not very good at this stuff and they say practice makes it perfect so... You don't have to do anything. Just pretend you're Autumn, and I'm gonna pretend I'm Jason-"

"You are Jason." He said cutting me off.

"Oh yeah! I forgot." I said scratching my head.

"Huh? Bro you hit your head or something, or are you like this since birth."

"Dude, focus! So you're Autumn." He nodded, "And we've been friends for a while." He nodded showing no interest in whatever I'm saying. "So I'm gonna come from there," I pointed at a distance. "And say it. Okay?" He nodded again.

I walked upto there and again went to Kylan. "Hey! Kylan." I said excitedly. "Oh shit! You're Autumn, I forgot. I'll  go again." I went again and walked upto Kylan and said, "Hey, buddy!" I said. "What? Buddy? The hell, I'll do it again." I said walking away again when Kylan stopped me.

"Just do it bro. I'm tired." He said.

"Okay." I said.

Deep breadth. Three... two... one...

I looked at him, gave a wide grin and said, "I love you." His eyes widened as he stared at me confused.

"Dude, what the fuck?" Kylan exclaimed.
