Chapter 19 : The Crazy Family

Kylan's POV

"So... what do you think?" He asked. Well honestly, I didn't know what to think.

I am too late with this stupid crush of mine, aren't I? Why couldn't I have just confessed earlier? Even a day before? But I only really discovered this today! What could I have done? Plus between me and Autumn, who do you think would Jason choose? Of course it's Autumn, you idiot! I should've never helped him woo her. Did I even help?

I know what I should've done! I should've met him earlier! Should've met him before he developed this stupid crush on Autumn and charmed my way into his heart and made him my boyfriend and never let him breakup with me. Ugh! This is driving me NUTS!

"I see. You hate the idea." Jason said. While I was having a mental battle with myself, Jason took my silence as a negative response. "But why? I thought we reached our goal. I thought you'd be happy that you don't need to help me anymore."

Have I really made it seem like I hate the idea of helping him so much?

"I don't hate the idea, Jason." I said, suddenly feeling overwhelmed with a surge of emotions. I swallowed a lump in my throat. "I just..."

"Then why do you look so sad?" He asked. How can this boy read me so well?

"Because." I said with my voice cracking up. Not now, emotions! "Because you came to me for help with her. And now that that's over, I guess we don't need to hang out anymore."

"What?" He asked. Seriously what? Even I don't know what I'm saying. "You think we were just hanging out because I needed your help?"

"Well... that's why you approached me, didn't you?" I said looking down at my lap, hating the way my voice sounds like a sad little puppy.

"Yeah. But like- we became good friends after that, right?" Jason asked. "Am I not your best friend Kylan? Or at least a good friend?"

"You are." I said looking at him. I took his hands in mine and there was a slight hint of tears at the corners of my eyes. "You're my best friend. But I thought now that you've got Autumn, you wouldn't wanna hang out with me anymore."

"What? Why would you think that?" He asked looking astonished, but touched at the same time.

"I don't know." I muttered under my breath as he pulled me into a hug. We sat there in that awkward position hugging for minutes before he let go and we got back to our seats. I started driving again while I turned on the music system in my car and playing One Direction to fill in the silence. Jason shot me a smile as he vibed to the music, while I drove to his place.

"This is quite literally a palace!" I said as we stepped out of my car. As I entered this area, I had a hunch that his house is gonna be somewhat exotic, but this was beyond my imagination. This is probably the best house in this whole area. We were currently in his garage, and among the several other expensive cars, mine felt disturbingly out of place.

"Oh please!" Jason said as he dragged me inside. "This house might look like a palace, but the people inside are hardly close to anything like royalty." As we were walking, he stopped mid stride. "Which reminds me; see, the plan is we go inside, you introduce yourself and then we go upstairs. Keep is as simple as possible, or else the conversation might stretch overnight. My family can be a little crazy."

"You're scaring me." I said.

"I am scared myself, trust me." He said as he pressed the bell and a guy, presumably a butler, opens the door. We head inside.

"Oh! There he is!" His mother came rushing towards us. I've seen his family on Instagram. They are your picture-perfect happy family. "I am so glad to finally meet you." She pulled me into a tight bone-crushing hug after that. I see where Jason get his personality from.

"Hi, Mrs. Zeigler." I said.

"I talked to your mom, and she's such a lovely woman." She said with a smile as my smile dropped. I looked at Jason confused.

"She called your Mom to invite you over." He explained. A formal invite for a random sleepover? Damn! Rich people really do things differently.

"I am so glad he's making friends, you know." She said dragging me to their living room. "Also, call me Joanna. No need to be formal." She made me sit down and there was his whole family sitting there. This is so awkward. I gulped in nervousness.

"What happened to Elijah?" His sister, Jasmine asked. "You still friends with him?"

"Yes, of course." Jason replied as he sat down beside me. He then leaned in close to my ear as he whispered to me. "Let me know when you wanna leave." I shivered as his breath fanned on my neck. I nodded slightly and took the tea cup his mom was offering and slightly sipped on it.

"So are you and Elijah going out yet?" Jasmine asked and I near about spit out my tea. I'm sorry, what?

"Oh, shut up! I told you we're just friends." Jason replied sounding all sorts of annoyed.

"Wait, what's this thing about Elijah?" I asked.

"He has a crush on Jay." Jasmine replied. EXCUSE ME??

"No he doesn't." Jason fought back.

"Okay you two. Enough!" His father stopped them. "Kylan hi. I am John, his father." He introduced himself. Is it just me or do you all also find it freakish that all of their names start with 'J'?

"Hi, Sir." I replied politely.

"Oh nonsense! Call me John. You do not know how I glad I am to finally introduce myself to a friend of Jason." He said looking all excited. So it's not just Jason, his whole family is like this. "This one, as you must know is a bit of a loner... actually, who am I kidding not just a bit. So we're excited!" Clearly!

"Dad! Can you not?" Jason whined.

"Oh there he goes whining." John said as he got up to pat Jason's head and Jason gave him an adorable little pout which said 'you're embarrasing me in front of my friend'.

"So is he the boyfriend?" A girl scremed as she raced down the stairs. Huffing and puffing she came to face me. "Are you Jason's new boyfriend?" She asked me. Well, I'd like to be. "Where is that blond guy?" She asked.

"Okay, first of all, Elijah and me, we're just friends." Jason said visibly pissed. "And secondly, this is Kylan, he is also a friend; that is, if y'all haven't freaked him out already."

"Hi Kylan." She extended me her hand for a shake and I took it. "Jessica here. This one's younger sister, and the coolest sibling of the three."

I smiled at that. I think I kind of like his family. "Hi. Nice to meet you Jessica." I replied.

"Oh please call me Jess. It's faster and way less hideous than my actual name. I'll never forgive my parents for this name, I swear." She said and I chuckled at that. Except for the fact that half of his family thinks him and Elijah are a thing, Jason's family is pretty cool.

"She's the craziest one in this family." Jason told me and I smiled at him. My smile seemed to put him at ease and he smiled back. He no longer seemed worried about his family freaking me out.

"No seriously, you tell me, isn't it unfair that we don't get to choose our names, but we somehow gotta live with that for the rest of our lives?" Jess started talking again, but my focus was on Jason, and that stupid smile of his. I swear he's so beautiful, I can't take my eyes off of him.

"OH MY GOD!" Jess screamed. "You're into him, aren't you?" I snapped my head back to look at Jess removing my eyes from Jason. I gulped feeling surprised and frightened at the same time. I looked back at him to see his reaction and caught him panicking as well.

"Can you guys stop shipping me with every one of my friends? It's weird." He said as he pulled me up from my couch. " That's enough chit-chat. Kylan and I are going to my room now." He then dragged me to his room.

His room was very spacious, all tidied up, with expensive decorations. It was like a hotel suite with sofas and shit on one side and a bed on the other side. But there were too many pictures of him with his family all around for it to look too posh and cold.

"They're crazy, don't mind them. You saw how they made assumptions about Elijah too, right? They're always like that; just trying their best to embarass me." Jason grumbled.

"I don't think they need to try." I said with a smile.

"You're so right! It's second nature to them!" He looked angry. I've never seen him angry. But I have to say, angry Jason is pretty cute.

"Don't be mad; they have your best interests at heart." I tried to console him. "For what it's worth, I think they're pretty cute." I said. Just like you...

"Elijah said that too." He said and my smile dropped at that. "I don't know what's so cute about my family's deranged behaviour!" He opened his closet picking out some clothes. "I'll take a quick shower and be back in a while. You can watch TV if you want in the meantime." I nodded as he walked into the bathroom.

I thought I'd go downstairs to probably thank his parents for letting me stay, and also somehow manage to get some food. I was starving! The moment I opened the door, the two J-sisters lost balance and stumbled on top of me as the three of us fell to the ground with a thud.

What is this family?
