Please tell me that she's just a really bad predictor.
My eyes widened as I looked over at Jaycon. He stood awkwardly next to Clayre as she held onto his arm and stroked it soothingly. He opened his mouth like he was going to argue but closed it again. I narrowed my eyes in on him.
Despite how much I loved Jaycon like the dorky older brother I never had, he should know where his limits lay.
My body began heating up and I knew I was going to end up in flames like a fucking Phoenix soon.
"Please tell me it's not true." I said calmly, the evenness in my voice taking him by surprise but he still hesitated to answer.
"Jaycon, answer her." Lucien spoke up and came over to stand by my side. He looked cool and collected like his normal self on the outside but on the inside, he was pissed as hell and I could feel it.
"Yes, she is." Jaycon finally said and my knuckles tightened and I squeezed my eyes shut.
Don't go ape-shit, Isadora. Not now anyways.
I took a steady breath and opened my eyes again. I wore the brightest smile the sun had ever seen which seemed to take everyone by surprise. Even Lucien raised his eyebrows. Queen Negin looked a little shook, Jaycon looked majorly creeped out and Clayre looked prepared to make a run for the hills. Smart girl.
"Omigoshsoimgonnabeanaunty!" I squealed with excitement and ran over to Jaycon and Clayre, wrapping my arms around the both of them in a tight hug, making sure to squeeze Jaycon a bit more.
"Iz, stop. You're creeping me out right now and do you mind letting me at least get some air?" Jaycon wheezed beside me as he tried to pry my arm off from around his neck.
"I'm so so so happy for you guys!" I gushed as Jaycon stared at me in horror like I'd grown an extra two heads.
I spun around to face Queen Negin who seemed unsure of how to react to what was happening.
"Queen Negin, thank you for your offer of allying with us in the upcoming war. We will call for you when the time will come. For now I think we should go home seeming as my bestfriend is expecting a baby and it would probably be best if she got some rest." I quickly bowed my head and she nodded her head in acceptance.
"Farewell, Isadora Pallas. We will meet again soon."
With that, she turned around and walked away into a large hut followed by her trustees.
I turned around to Lucien as he watched me with curiosity.
"I think we should walk out of this goddamn rainforest and head back home." I said as the side of his lips turned upwards in a small playful smirk.
"You are one interesting human, Isadora Pallas. I don't think my life has ever been as interesting before you walked in." He mused as his gaze bore into me.
"I'll just take that as a compliment." I replied and walked over to the table where our weapons and rucksacks laid.
"I guess we should get our things and head out quickly before night falls." I called to the others who seemed to be in a daze.
They snapped back into reality and came over to get their things.
"So you're not mad at me?" Jaycon asked as we strolled through the jungly vines that tangled the air and crunchy leaves that blanketed the ground.
"Nope, not at all." I lied and continued to look unbothered by the whole situation.
"Clayre, did you know you were pregnant?" I asked.
"Actually I just found out the night before we took our plane here. I told Jaycon about it and that's why he was hesitant about letting me come too." She said as we walked side by side through the humid air that felt like breathing in thick syrup.
"Do know how long?" I asked as I helped her climb over a large, fallen tree trunk.
"I guess no more than half a week. It came as a surprise really. I was on the pill ya know."
I scoffed. "Those things are sketchy. I wouldn't count on them too much."
"I guess I should've been more careful. I don't know what to do now. I'm not even in college yet here I am expecting a baby in 9 months." Her eyes drifted off into the distance as if to find a solution to the problem.
I held her hand in mine as we walked on.
"We'll figure it out soon, Clayre. I won't promise you that everything will be easy from now because it won't with what's about to take place but I promise you that I'll be there with you always." I have her hand a gentle squeeze as I saw her eyes glimmer with tears.
"I know you will. You always have been. I'm so grateful for that everyday." She gave me a smile as a tear fell from her eye.
* * * * * * * * * *
It was early morning when we were finally on our way back home on the plane. Lucien had contacted the pilot and the plane was outside the rainforest just like when we had first arrived.
Clayre slept on Jaycon's lap through most of the flight and Lucien was on his laptop as usual like he had to catch up on a few days of work.
I just stared outside of the plane at the fluffy clouds counting the minutes go by before we landed home.
It felt like forever as the plane finally hit the soft green lawn of Lucien's mansion. I had never thought I would actually feel homesick until then. I wanted to sag on the floor and never get up. We all got off the plane before walking up the steps to the mansion's front door. There we met our driver, Reynold, at the door.
"Welcome back, Mr. Abelló and Miss Isadora." The old driver and butler greeted us. Lucien nodded and I smiled at him.
We opened the door and was greeted by Bridgeth and Kaitleen who looked like they were seeing their long lost children for the first time.
"Kids, we were so worried!" Kaitleen cried as she ran towards us.
"Kaitleen, we are not "kids" anymore. How many times do I have to tell you that?" Lucien mumbled, a little annoyed.
"Nonsense! You will always be my kids while I'm still breathing!" She and Bridgeth both gave us all tight hugs.
I cleared me throat.
"Kaitleen, Bridgeth. Jaycon has some news to announce to you guys." I looked over at Jaycon and he gave me a death glare but I just smirked.
"Ugh-uh, well, I-you see..." He tried his best to try form a sentence to start.
"Jaycon, spit it out. There's no need to be nervous." Bridgeth said and I had to snicker a little at that.
Jaycon shot another glare my way but I pretended not to notice.
"Well... Clayre and I. We're... expecting a... baby." He said slowly and we all waited for the two old ladies to react.
It was dead silent for a minute. Like the calm before the storm and oh boy was the storm thunderous.
"JAYCON DOMINICO WINTERS, YOU ARE IN BIG TROUBLE." Kaitleen yelled so loud we had to cover our ears. "What kind of a man are you to get a young girl pregnant, mate or not! You and I are going to have a big talk tonight!" Kaitleen and Bridgeth both looked mad beyond anything and I swore their angry stares made chills go down my spine.
"I'm sorry, I obviously didn't mean to! It just happened!" He tried to save himself.
"You should've known better! We didn't raise you to be so careless!"
That's when it got out of hand. Because both of them still had their kitchen aprons on, Kaitleen produced a wooden spoon out of her apron pocket and Bridgeth took out a spatula from hers.
Jaycon took one large gulpbefore sprinting away from the two ladies.
"SHIT." He yelled.
"JAYCON, YOU COME BACK HERE NOW!"
It was weird, shocking but hilarious to see two old women chase a grown Alpha in training around the house.
I heard Lucien sigh beside me.
"It's just like the old times. Jaycon getting in trouble while Kaitleen and Bridgeth chase him with kitchen utensils. I think we'd better find them before Jaycon ends up with a swollen ass."
