Family legacies and blood on my ledger
Cassian and Bodhi trudged through the rugged terrain, their eyes scanning the area for any signs of life or danger. Bodhi believed that they were climbing the treacherous mountain to get a better vantage point of their surroundings, but Cassian had other plans. His true intention was to eliminate Erso, once and for all.
Meanwhile, Yelena trailed behind them, her movements silent and calculated. She was determined to keep Erso safe and ensure that he returned home alive. Her past was riddled with violence and destruction, and she saw this mission as a chance to make amends and bring some semblance of peace to the world.
As Yelena followed the two assassins from a safe distance, Kate gathered her gear and set out to find her. She knew that Yelena was likely the key to protecting Erso, and she was determined to help in any way she could. Jyn, on the other hand, had a different plan. She abandoned the wreckage of their ship and ran towards the facility, guessing that Cassian and Bodhi were up to no good.
With tensions high and danger looming around every corner, the fate of Erso and his protectors hung in the balance. Would they be able to overcome the obstacles in their path and complete their mission, or would their pasts catch up to them and bring about their downfall? Only time will tell.
"Where are they all going?" Loki wonders as Sif and Jane both leave as well. "Where are you all going?"
"Following them," Jane said as she gestured out into the distance, using her Hammer as a glow stick.
"You serious?" Loki asks.
"Of course," Sif stated as she took a bow from the ship. "Are you coming?"
Loki considered his choices as he could either stay with the sarcastic droid or go with them where all the action was. The second choice sounded much more fun. He leaped out of the ship and approached the Asgardians as they made their way out.
K2 turned around and was confused when he noticed the empty ship. "Where are they all going?" He then saw Heimdall shrug and groaned and got back to work fixing the comms. "If Cassian comes back, we're leaving without them."
Jyn just managed to reach the grounds of the facility and saw the treacherous climb that was ahead of climbing up the ladder that leads up to the facility. Bodhi leads Cassian to the top of the mountainside which gives them a perfect view of the facility grounds.
Bodhi was trying to see if he could spot Erso amongst the crowd of Imperials when one in white and black stepped in front of the rest. "That's him, Galen in the dark suit."
Cassian took the binoculars and looked into them to spot Galen amongst the Imperial officers and engineers. Now all he needed to do was finish the job. An Imperial transport flew overhead and he saw he had a small chance to complete his mission.
"Alright, get back down there and try to find us a ride out of here," Cassian asks of him.
"What will you do?" Bodhi was a little confused.
"You heard me." Cassian didn't answer.
"You said we came up here just to have a look," Bodhi replied.
"I'm here, I'm looking. Go." Cassian tells him once more, chancing his rifle into a sniper.
Bodhi decided to do what was asked and walked down the hill to find them a ship to escape. But while he was leaving, Yelena was hiding behind a few rocks, the storm keeping her hidden from eyesight.
Once Bodhi was gone, Yelena stepped out of her hiding spot and activated her Widow Bites. The devices activating crested a whirring sound that got Cassian's attention, but he didn't have the time to react as he was then zapped by one that flung off of Yelena's wrist.
"Sorry, Cassian. But I've got my own orders." Yelena stated.
On the landing platform in front of the research facility, Krennic's shuttle lands and he walks out, flanked by deathtroopers, heading towards a group of stormtroopers and engineers.
"Excellent news, Galen," Talos said, seeing his time as a spy might be coming to an end. "The battle station is complete. You must be very proud."
"Proud as I can be, Krennic," Galen tells him.
"Gather your engineers, I have an announcement," Talos tells them. The group of engineers steps forward nervously. "Is that all of them?"
"Yes," Galen confirmed.
"Gentlemen. One of you betrayed the Empire." Talos said as he watched everyone begin to mutter among themselves. "One of you has conspired with a pilot to send messages to the Rebellion. And I urge that traitor to step forward."
The engineers whisper and murmur amongst themselves. Talos knew who it was but waited. Seeing that no one replies, he gestures to his troopers.
"Very well, I'll consider it a group effort, then," Taos said as he turned around so nobody could see he pulled out a small remote. "Ready!"
The deathtroopers raise their blasters. The engineers whimper in fear and terror, and Talos hated how this whole situation reminded him of back home when he and his people were forced to flee because of the Kree Empire. But this would all be worth it in the long run so none of the people had to suffer like his people did.
"Aim... and..."
The troopers stand with their rifles aimed. Just before the shooting begins, Galen jumps in front of his engineers to stop him. Yelena was watching the whole scene, using Cassian's scope and leaning on his unconscious form. She wasn't planning to fire, she was using it to scope out the area and just in case someone needed it.
"Stop! Stop! Krennic, stop. It was me. It was me. They have nothing to do with it. Spare them."
Talos pauses, looking at him, then turns to his troopers. Then he lifted the small remote into full view and pushed the button up top. Suddenly the entire squadron of troopers were sent spasming out of control and then dropping to the ground.
"Well, it's good to know whose side you're on," Talos said as he faced Erso. "Sorry for the deception, but I'm not actually Director Krennic." He then showed off his shapeshifting powers to show his true form. "I'm here on behalf of the Rebellion."
"The Rebellion?" Erso was surprised to hear. "They sent you?"
"Well, I ended here under strange circumstances, but here to help," Talos commented.
Jyn climbs onto the platform using the ladder and throws a stormtrooper down into the abyss. She was surprised to see the rest of the Troopers were killed and walked out into the open. Yelena watches the scene through her scope and notices Jyn when K-2SO comes in over the comlink.
"Cassian. Cassian, can you hear me?" K2 asked.
Yelena looked down at the unconscious Cassian and grabbed his comm off of him. "Uh, yeah, Cassian can't come to the phone right now." She informed the droid. "Glad to see you got the comms working."
"Affirmative yes, although we have a problem!" K2 warned her. "There's an Alliance squadron approaching."
Yelena heard engines and turned to see X-Wings were approaching through the canyons. "No. No, no, no!" She yelled into the comms. "Tell them to hold up! We have men on that platform!"
K-2SO attempts to reach the rebel base to delay the attack. On Home One, a rebel comms expert calls General Draven to come over.
"Relay from Captain Andor."
"General." One of the men contacted Draven.
"Requesting a delay on squadron support. Alliance forces onsite. Please confirm." K2 informed them.
"Get the squadron leader on, get him on now!" Davits demanded.
"They're already engaged, sir." They reported.
"What's this I hear?" Nick asked as he marched over to the general. "You did what?"
Jyn came out of hiding and approached the engineers. "Father?"
Erso towards his daughter and was shocked to see her. "Jyn?" He then walked over and hugged his daughter. "My Stardust, what are you doing here."
"I am here to get you out of here," Jyn tells her father.
The sounds of sirens went off, getting Talos to turn around and notice that Alliance jets were coming in quickly. The rebel squadron begins shooting at the platform and there are several explosions. Baze stares at the attack in horror. On the platform, Talos ran to try and get to cover while the engineers all ran to get away.
"Get out of the open! Find cover!" Talos demanded as he dragged Galen and Jyn towards some crates.
Yelena stood at the edge of the cliff, her heart pounding with fear and adrenaline. She had spotted a group of Stormtroopers emerging from their hiding spot and knew that she had to act quickly to protect her friends. Without a second thought, she opened fire on the enemy soldiers, her blaster shots ringing out across the rocky terrain.
Meanwhile, Kate, the skilled archer of the group, had already drawn an explosive arrow in her bow. She was quick to notice that the TIE Fighters were closing in on them, ready to attack at any moment. With a calm and focused mind, she waited for the perfect opening and fired her arrow with precision. The arrow flew through the air, hitting one of the TIE's wings and causing it to explode. The TIE began to spin out of control, hurtling towards the control tower and crashing into it with a deafening boom.
"Nice shot!" Yelena shouted at Kate, as she ran towards the others.
But the danger was far from over. Jane, the powerful sorceress, knew that they were still under attack. With a fierce determination, she began to summon lightning, calling forth the power of the skies to aid them in their fight. Using Mjolnir as a conductor, she focused her energy and zapped down all of the remaining TIE Fighters, one by one.
As the last of the enemy ships fell from the sky, Bodhi appeared in a new shuttle that he had stolen. He was quick to pick up K-2SO and Heimdall, before returning for the others on the platform. Yelena was the closest, so she was the first to be rescued. She also ended up dragging Cassian on board as she obviously wasn't going to leave him behind. Then, they went for Talos, Jyn, and her father, who were all waiting anxiously for their turn to escape.
Loki, the mischievous trickster god, used his magic to sneak aboard the shuttle undetected. Jane was waiting for him, and she used her powers to give Sif a boost onto the shuttle as well. With all of the passengers now safely aboard, they blasted off into the sky, leaving the Imperials far behind.
Cassian groaned when he started to wake up and notice where they were. They were all safe and were now making their way back to Home One to share with the rest of them what they discovered.
"Well, look who's waking up," Yelena said as she approached him. "Feeling better?"
"You," Cassian growled as he stood up. "What the hell was that? I had orders."
"You had orders, I had mine. Circle of life." Yelena shrugged. "I just favored my orders over yours."
"You could have jeopardized everything," Cassian stated as Yelena was leaving him.
Yelena stopped and turned back to face him. "I get it, okay?" She stated as she approached him. "This fight means everything to you. But I have done what you have done, except it was against my will. I never had a choice when I was forced to pull the trigger on someone. You had a choice and almost made the wrong one."
Cassian never questioned orders when it came to the Alliance, especially since all of this with the Death Star. "You really think it was worth it?"
"One life saved is a life I haven't taken, and I have already taken too many lives," Yelena informed him before walking past him.
The Rebellion's war council is gathered at a large table in the command center on Home One. Rebel senators and leaders argue while pilot squads and technicians crowd around, murmuring nervously. To say that the news was either unbelievable or scaring everyone in the room was an understatement.
"We must scatter the fleet. We have no recourse but to surrender." Senator Pymmla tells them.
"Are we really discussing disbanding something we've worked so hard to create?" Organa asked them.
"We can't just give in," Raddus stated.
"We joined an Alliance, not a suicide pact!"
"We've only now managed to gather our forces," Organa stated.
"Gather our forces?" One of them scoffed. "General Draven's already blown up an Imperial base!"
"A decision needed to be made." Draven defended his actions.
"And it was the wrong one," Hill stated.
"If it's a war you want, you'll fight alone!"
"If that's the way it's going, why have an Alliance at all?" Bucky asked them.
"If he's telling the truth, we need to act now!" Raddus stated, gesturing to Erso.
"Councilors, please!" Mothma asked them.
"It is simple, the Empire has the means of mass destruction. The Rebellion does not." A pilot commander commented.
"A Death Star, this is nonsense," Draven replied.
"What reason would my father have to lie?" Jyn defended her father. "What benefit would it bring him?"
"To lure our forces into a final battle," Draven stated, gesturing to Erso. "To destroy us once and for all. To risk everything, based on what? The testimony of a criminal?
Or her father, an Imperial scientist?"
"Don't forget the Imperial pilot."
"I did everything in my power to make so we have a way to defeat this horrendous device," Erso replied in anger. "Now we may have a chance to defeat this. I hid a self-destruct mechanism inside of it. We can destroy it, but we need to take away their copy of the plans if we want any hope of stopping them from creating any more of these devices."
"If the Empire has this kind of power, what chance do we have?"
"What chance do we have?" Jyn asked. "The question is 'What choice?' Run? Hide? Plead for mercy? Scatter your forces?"
"She's right." Bucky agreed with her. "You give way to an enemy this evil with this much power and you might just condemn the galaxy to an eternity of submission."
"He's right! The time to fight is now! "
"Yes."
"Every moment you waste is another step closer to the ashes of Jedha," Jyn tells the entire room.
"What is she proposing?"
"Just let the girl speak!" Kate cried out to them.
"Send your best troops to Scarif," Jyn tells them. "Send the whole rebel fleet if you have to. We need to capture the Death Star plans if there is any hope of destroying it once and for all."
"You're asking us to invade an Imperial installation based on nothing but hope?"
Jyn then remembered what they said about Jedah. "Rebellions are built on hope."
"There is no hope."
"I say we fight."
"I say the Rebellion is finished."
Mothma saw the choice that had to be made. "I'm sorry, Jyn. Without the council's full support, the odds are too great."
Jyn sighed as she found herself in the shuttle landing bay where Heimdall was still looking over the Infinity Stone Jyn had been carrying for so long, never realizing what it was. There were also a few Avengers who happened to be around as well as Goose who was happily purring with Kamala petting her. Jyn was separated from her father who had to talk with a few of the senators about whether what he is saying was truthful or even worth trying to bring up to the council with Talos informing them everything he had seen.
"You don't look happy," Loki commented.
"They prefer to surrender." Jyn sighed.
"And you?" Yelena wonders.
Sif however saw a warrior spirit in the young girl. "She wants to fight."
"So do I," Kamala stated.
"We all do," Loki stated, spinning a knife in his hands. "A weapon as powerful as that...it belongs to no man."
"I'm not sure six of us is quite enough," Jyn commented.
"How many do we need?" Heimdall asked.
"What are you talking about?" Jyn asked.
Then they looked and saw Cassian, Sam, Bucky, and a few other big Avengers as well as Nick and Maria among the group of people. Not to mention a few members of the Alliance themselves, all ready and willing to do what it took to protect the galaxy.
"They were never going to believe you," Cassian told them.
"I appreciate the support," Jyn replied.
"But I do." Cassian continued. "I believe you. We'd like to volunteer." He gestured to the team. "Some of us... most of us, we've done terrible things on behalf of the Rebellion. We're spies. Saboteurs. Assassins. Everything I did, I did for the Rebellion. And every time I walked away from something I wanted to forget I told myself it was for a cause that I believed in. A cause that was worth it. Without that, we're lost." He seemed to be directing this wording towards Yelena, remembering what she said on the ship. "Everything we've done would have been for nothing. I couldn't face myself if I gave up now. None of us could."
Yelena was happy to see she managed to get through him. "It won't be comfortable. It'll be a bit cramped, but we'll all fit." Bodhi tells them. "We could go."
"Gear up," Sam tells them.
"Grab anything that's not nailed down," Bucky stated, grabbing his rifle.
"Jyn," K2 called out. "I'll be there for you. Cassian said I had to."
Yelena smiled as she looked to Cassian who rolled his eyes at what K2 said. "Seems she's growing on you."
"More like I am letting you get into my head," Cassian stated. "And I would rather be on your side than on the other end of your Bites."
Yelena chuckled "I'm not used to people sticking around when I do that."
Cassian chuckled. "Welcome home."
"You think we could maybe rely on our Jedi friend?" Sam asked Bucky.
"She's still on Tattooine with that Skywalker kid and the kid," Bucky said, referring to Peter and his band of rebels. "The Guardians?"
"Couldn't even reach them." Sam was sorry to say.
The team was gearing up for a daunting mission. They knew that taking the Death Star plans from the Imperial facility would not be an easy task. As they began to pack their gear, they made sure they had everything they could possibly need. Yelena was checking her guns to ensure they were in perfect working condition.
Kate was selecting her trickier arrows, which would come in handy during the mission. Scott and Hope were filling their canisters with Pym Particles, so they could easily shrink and grow when needed. T'Challa was getting ready in his suit, and he activated his claws to make sure they were working properly.
Shuri was checking her gauntlets, which were packed with technology to help her fight back. Jane summoned some power into her hammer and was ready to unleash it when necessary. Fury and Hill got their guns ready. Monica got her uniform on and even checked to make sure her powers were working.
Sif was preparing her sword, which was her most prized possession in battle. Heimdall came across a sword that reminded him of the Bifrost sword and picked it up, knowing it would be useful in the mission. Loki picked up two nice-looking dagurs he thought would look great to use.
After packing all their gear, the team boarded the shuttle they had stolen from the Imperial facility. It was a tight fit, but everyone managed to squeeze in. As the doors were closing, Goose, the team's furry companion, snuck her way onboard the shuttle, excited to join the team on their mission. With everyone onboard and ready to blast off, the team knew that they were in for a wild ride.
"You with me?" Jyn asked as she was the last one on board.
"All the way," Cassian confirmed as the doors closed.
"Cargo shuttle, read back, please. What's going on out there? That ship's off-limits. No one is supposed to be on board until further instructions."
Bodhi then grabbed the comms to make sure they weren't shot down. "Yes, yes we are. Affirmative."
"That's an impounded Imperial ship. What's your call sign, pilot?"
"Um." Bodhi looked around the room for help.
"We have to go," Kate tells him.
"It-It's um..."
"Say something. Anything." Kamala tells him.
"Rogue...Rogue One." Bodhi went with.
"Rogue One? There is no Rogue One."
"Well, there is now," Monica stated as they prepared the shuttle for launch.
"Rogue One, pulling away," Bodhi said as Monica and K-2SO were beginning to take the ship off.
This was going to be one of their biggest missions yet.
