Chapter 41: P-800

Anima Wilderness

Carefully dusting herself off, Penny cheerfully cleaned her attire. Her cheerful and adorable demeanor completely clashed with the fact that she made a crater nearly fifty feet in diameter just a moment ago.

Qrow and Y/N stared at the girl, completely dumbfounded.

After making sure she was clean Penny returned her attention to the two in front of her.

Penny: Salutations!...

Penny glanced at both Qrow and Y/N.

Penny: ...(F/N) (L/N) and Qrow Branwen!

Qrow: Uhhhh.... Hi?

(Y/N): Hi... Penny...

Qrow nudged Y/N.

Qrow: You know her?

(Y/N): ...Yes?...

Penny perked up at the question.

Penny: Oh! My apologies Mr. Branwen! My name is Penny Polendina! A pleasure to meet you!

Qrow scratched the back of his head, unsure as to what to make of the situation.

(Y/N): Hi Penny.... I'm almost afraid to ask but...

Y/N glanced at the enormous crater behind her.

(Y/N): What... are you doing here?

Penny smiled brightly, excited to reveal her mission.

Penny: I am here to ensure your safety before the Atlas fleet arrives!

Y/N looked at Qrow in a mixture of confusion and expectation.

Qrow: Okay, look... Penny was it?

Penny: Correct! Penny Polendina!

Qrow: You know I'm a Huntsman, right?

Penny: Of course! Atlas keeps a database of all registered Huntsmen from every kingdom!

Penny maintained her positive tone even in the awkward situation they were in.

Qrow: Right... then you should know that Ozpin, Headmaster of Beacon Academy, sent me here to get the kid, here, and bring him back to Vale.

Penny slightly tilted her head in confusion.

Penny: Really? I don't recall there being any official mission from Beacon with that description.

Qrow: Well, this is sort of a delicate situation so it's off the record, and time is of the essence here so... if you don't mind.

Qrow started to gently push Y/N to start walking but the two stopped when Penny retorted.

Penny: I'm sorry Mr. Branwen, but my mission is to ensure Y/N's safety, and seeing as how there's no official mission I can't let Y/N leave with you.

Qrow: Alright, look at him, he's perfectly fine.

Qrow gestured toward Y/N as he took a pill out of the bottle the doctor gave him and swallowed it.

Using her incredible vision, Penny managed to identify the bottle, causing her to gasp.

Penny: Those are powerful painkillers! Are you in pain Y/N?

Penny conveyed genuine worry as she asked her question.

(Y/N): Oh, yeah. Intense near unbearable amounts of-

Qrow interjected.

Qrow: No! No! He's fine, really!

Penny turned her attention to Qrow.

Penny: If he is fine why is he taking a high-dosage of painkillers?

Qrow: He... uh...

Qrow desperately thought of an excuse.

Qrow: ...bumped his head!

Penny: He bumped his head?

Qrow: Yes. On a tree branch.

Penny then looked at Y/N.

Penny: Is this true, Y/N?

(Y/N): Nah, I got some kind of horrifically infected wound...

Penny gasped.

Qrow: Kid!

(Y/N): ...then I got attacked by a swarm of Grimm...

Penny's shock grew.

Qrow: Seriously!?

(Y/N): ...then I got kidnapped again, by bandits this time...

Qrow: Stop!

(Y/N): ...and then I got chased by two psychos in the woods.

Qrow stared at Y/N in a mixture of shock and frustration.

Penny: That doesn't sound 'safe' to me!

Qrow nervously chuckled.

Qrow: That all happened before I found him! He's been perfectly fine since!

(Y/N): Well, the piano dropping on my head happened after you met me...

Qrow slowly turned his head to glare at Y/N, eye twitching.

(Y/N): What?

Y/N pointed at Penny.

(Y/N): It's Penny, she's literally the nicest person I've met! I'm not lying to her!

Penny: Thank you for being truthful!

Qrow: Kid, remember the whole: 'not drawing attention to ourselves'!?

Y/N could physically see the frustration on Qrow's face.

(Y/N): Well, she did ask nicely...

Penny: I can see now that you're a terrible guardian Mr. Branwen!

Qrow: Look, things just... don't really go my way that often.

A serious look appeared on Penny's face.

Penny: By order of General Ironwood of the Atlesian Military, I formally request that you peacefully hand Y/N over!

Qrow: Wait, James sent you!? He and Ozpin had an agreement on this!

Penny: As stated before, Mr. Branwen, there is no record of Ozpin sending any Huntsmen to this area, therefore you are an unverified Huntsman in an Atlas operation.

Qrow tensed and gestured for Y/N to get back, sensing things were going sour.

Qrow: Kid, you really don't want to do this. I don't want to hurt you.

Penny raised her arms to shoulder level.

Penny: Do not worry...

After her statement, eight short-swords emerged from Penny's back and formed a circle above her head.

Penny: I am mission ready!

(Y/N): Oh, hey... that looks familiar.

The short-swords above Penny's head began to spin to the point that the blades themselves became nothing but blurs.

Qrow pulled 'Harbinger' from his belt and readied himself.

A moment later, Penny clasped her hands together and a kind of pulse radiated from the circle of swords. It was thanks to his experience that Qrow noticed the very subtle spark that was rapidly approaching.

Qrow: Shit!

Barely giving himself enough time, Qrow barely managed to escape the near invisible pulse that was sent his way.

The resulting attack instantly shredded the everything that was behind where Qrow had stood. Trees, bushes, shrubs, and even rocks were instantly torn to tiny pieces and thrown to the side, leaving a large gash in the forested landscape.

Crashing behind a tree, the veteran Huntsman quickly climbed to his feet, his ears still ringing from the attack.

Qrow: What the hell was that?!

Qrow wasn't expecting his opponent's knives to emit a kind of sonic attack and considering you can't parry sound the only option that attack had left the Huntsman was to dodge.

Qrow: Crap, that was clo- Kid!

It hadn't dawned on him until now that he realized that Y/N was standing behind him originally.

Qrow: Kid! Y/N!

Frantically looking in the direction he dodged from, Qrow tried to find Y/N.

(Y/N): ._. Hey, Kreau?

Qrow: Gah!

Startling the Huntsman, Qrow found Y/N sitting on the floor with his hands wrapped around his knees and the base of a tree near him.

Qrow: How did yo-

(Y/N): Are all women on Remnant like this?

Qrow blinked.

Qrow: Uhh... you mean-?

BRRRROOOOOOOOM!!!

Coming from the direction Penny was located, a bright green laser blasted right between Y/N and Qrow, creating a truck-sized--perfectly circular--hole.

(Y/N) and Qrow: ._.

Turning their heads toward the forest, they saw the laser had bored a hole right through the trees and foliage and off into the distance to where they could no longer see it.

Qrow: ...Yes.

(Y/N): Q_Q

THUNK

Before they could continue their conversation one of Penny's short-swords suddenly embedded itself into the tree in front of them.

Qrow: Uh-oh.

Seconds later the short-sword uprooted the tree and started to pull the large object directly at him.

Thinking quickly, Qrow transformed 'Harbinger' into its sword configuration and cut the tree in half.

Qrow: Phew. Easy.

THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK

Qrow's small victory was short-lived as a plethora of other swords embedded themselves into the surrounding trees.

Qrow: ...Great.

Using his immense experience Qrow dodged and slashed at the series of trees currently being hurled at him.

Qrow: Crap! *dodge* Jeez! *slice* Hup! *slice*

The sudden fight was indirectly deforesting a small section of the landscape as Qrow kept on the move.

Not wanting to remain on the defense, Qrow used the gaps in the tree to fire short bursts at Penny forcing her to use her short-swords as a shield.

Having bought a short repreve, Qrow roughly planted his back against another tree, hidden from Penny's sight.

Qrow: Damn it... this is-!

Once again, Qrow forgot that Y/N was right next to him before the attack.

Qrow: Kid! Where-

(Y/N): Penny sure is scary.

Qrow: Gah!

Once more, Qrow found himself startled by Y/N's sudden appearance next to him.

Qrow: Stop doing that!

(Y/N): Stop doing what!? You told me to stay next to you!

Qrow sighed angrily before peeking around the tree.

Qrow: Didn't you say you know her?

(Y/N): Who Penny? Oh yeah, she's really nice actually.

Qrow: Well, talk to her! Get her to back off!

(Y/N): Oh, right.

Y/N carefully rose to his feet and peeked around the tree.

(Y/N): Hey, Penny? Do you think we could try and talk this out? I don't exactly feel safe with you throwing the literal forest at me.

Penny: Do not worry Y/N! I have strict orders to bring no harm to you! And I'd never want to hurt my first boy friend!

(Y/N): ...Okay!

Y/N sat back down behind the tree.

(Y/N): ._. Welp, apparently I'm her boyfriend now... I guess this is how dating works in Remnant... makes sense.

Qrow face-palmed before loading more rounds into 'Harbinger'.

Qrow: Okay. New plan. Head northeast. You'll find the drop-ship in a clearing not too far from here. I'll hold her here. Got it.

(Y/N): Got it. But I should probably tell you that I have a very poor sense of direc-

THUNK THUNK THUNK

Y/N's sentence was interrupted when more short-swords started showing up again.

Qrow: No time! Go!

(Y/N): Okay! Running!

Following Qrow's instruction, Y/N instantly started running away from the impending destruction that would result from Qrow and Penny's fight.

With Y/N running to safety, Qrow quickly ran out of cover and started his counter attack. Unloading a hail of gunfire at the redhead, the veteran Huntsman charged Penny.

The incoming gunfire forced Penny to use her swords as a shield, giving Qrow the opportunity to close the distance. Once close enough, Qrow launched himself into the air and slammed his sword down in a huge downward slice.

With inhuman-like reaction speed, Penny instantaneously grabbed the hilts of two swords and blocked Qrow's attack. The ground fractured at the force of the impact. Qrow grimaced at the small girl's surprising strength before kicking himself off her.

As Qrow landed his attention was drawn behind him when a few of the swords in the air folded itself to reveal a gun barrel beneath the blade.

Qrow: Of course it's also a gun...

Using his skill, Qrow quickly blocked the retaliatory gunfire with 'Harbinger'.

Qrow: Alright, I'm starting to see the kid's point now! *grunt*

To Qrow's surprise Penny launched herself toward him and began to engage him in close combat. Using the gaps in gunfire to attack, Penny struck with the swords she had grabbed earlier, forcing the Huntsman into the defensive.

Much to Qrow's dismay, the sword's at Penny's command acted like an extension of her. The Huntsman was baffled by how well the young girl was able to control each and every single blade, each one covering any opening she might've had and capitalizing on any he had.

Penny: Please surrender Mr. Branwen. I do not wish to bring any harm to you.

Qrow: Not happening.

Penny: Very well...

With that, Penny's attack's steadily grew faster and more frequent.

Qrow: Gah!

Eventually, even Qrow couldn't keep up with the endless tide of shots and strikes that Penny sent his way. Whenever he blocked Penny's sword another shot him in the back, and when he blocked a shot, he'd be wide open for Penny herself. With each hit Qrow's Aura was depleting.

Knowing he had to do something, Qrow allowed himself to get his momentarily quickly loaded 'Harbinger' with a specific type of ammo.

Qrow: All or nothing!

Aiming the barrel of 'Harbinger' at the ground, Qrow pulled the trigger and caused a medium-sized explosion launching both him and Penny away from each other.

Using that same moment, Qrow swung 'Harbinger' at one of the floating swords and batted it into the ground, removing it from the fight.

Not missing a second, Qrow opened fire at Penny to keep her suppressed in order to rush at the other swords that were firing at his back. Each one he'd slam into the forest floor with all the might he had.

Before she realized, the only remaining swords Penny had were the ones in her hands.

Smirking, Qrow leveled his sword at Penny.

Qrow: No more toys, kid. Now, how about you surrender now?

Penny appeared surprised at her sudden loss of weapons, but her expression quickly changed to a confident smile. Letting her swords go to return to her backpack, Penny flexed her fingers.

Qrow was initially confused at the girl's sudden move until he felt the ground rumble.

Pulling her arms toward her--like lifting something heavy--Penny began to pull at the swords embedded into the ground.

Suddenly, Qrow was under the shadow of something huge. Gulping, the Huntsman slowly turned his head to see Penny had literally pulled a gigantic chunk of the very ground out of the forest floor.

Qrow: ...that's not fair.

_____

BOOM

(Y/N): Woah, that was a big one.

Even though he'd created some distance between himself and Qrow and Penny's fight, Y/N could still feel the ground rumble.

(Y/N): Eh, I'm sure Qruo can handle it. Now onto more pressing matters...

Despite Qrow giving Y/N the chance to escape, he forgot one thing. The most important item to give Y/N.

The compass.

(Y/N): I wish I knew which way Northeast is.

Unsure of where to go, Y/N slowed down to take it easy.

Gently rubbing his wound, Y/N wondered what he should do.

(Y/N): Well, what now? I don't feel like wandering aimlessly through the woods again, so...

Before long, Y/N heard a twig snap behind him. Turning around he found a familiar face.

Shay: Well, well, well... look what we got here...

Flanking Shay were other bandits from Raven's tribe, all of whom had devious smiles on their faces.

Y/N, locked his gaze upon Shay.

Shay: Today's our lucky day boys, payday as decided to wander right back to us.

Y/N remained silent.

Shay: And you know what they say about letting stuff go right? If it comes back then its-

(Y/N): What is that on your head?

Y/N pointed at the poorly-kept yellow cowboy hat on Shay's head.

Shay: What!? It was the only hat we had lying around! And it's your fault that I have to wear it!

Shay cracked his knuckles.

Shay: And I think it's high time that I get some pay-

(Y/N): Stop. No. No, I don't think I can do this.

Shay: What!?

Y/N looked at the other bandits.

(Y/N): Is there someone else I can talk to?

Shay: What did you say!?

(Y/N): Maybe someone more intimidating?... Or just anyone else?

Shay: Why you little-!

???: Enough.

A deep voice boomed behind Shay, causing everyone to turn. Stepping out from the foliage a large figure made his presence known.

Large Bandit: You want 'intimidating'? Here I am.

Just as--if not--slightly bigger than Hazel, a dark-skinned man wearing a patchwork coat, a dark-red bandana on his head, and white cargo pants, loomed over the teen. The scarring on his face indicates he was among the veterans of Raven's tribe.

Steele: The name's Steele. Do I match your description?

Y/N looked up and the talking tower of muscle before him.

(Y/N): Yep. That'd do it.

Steele cracked his neck.

Steele: So are we gonna do this the easy way? Or the-

(Y/N): Easy. I surrender.

Y/N instantly put his hands up without any resistance.

Steele: Oh. Uh... that was... easy?

(Y/N): And you are very intimidating.

Shay: What!? What does he have that I don't?

Bandit #1: Muscles?

Bandit #2: Experience?

Bandit #3: Intimidation?

(Y/N): Hair?

Shay: Yeah? Well... I still want to kick this kid's ass for shaving my head!

Shay started to charge at Y/N before Steel grabbed him with one arm and lifted him off the ground.

Steele: No damaging the merchandise.

Steele glared into Shay's eyes, making the disgraced bandit shudder with fear.

Steele: Got it?...

Shay: G-got it... boss.

Steele: Good.

Steele unceremoniously dropped Shay to the ground and looked to the others.

Steele: Get some rope and tie that kid up. We'll make camp at that abandoned farm we saw.

Bandit #3: Got it boss.

_____

_____

Abandoned Farmstead

That Night

Bandit #3: Sit here.

Shoved to the floor of the dilapidated barn, Y/N was roughly brought to where this group of bandits called their camp.

Closing the door behind him, the vagrant that brought Y/N was apporached by one of his allies.

Bandit #2: Hey, how do we know that brat won't try to escape?

The first bandit smirked.

Bandit #3: He's not going anywhere with me here.

Bandit #2: I'm just asking, after all, he did escape our main camp.

Shouting from behind the wooden door, Y/N answered the question that wasn't directed to him.

(Y/N): I'm not going to do anything!

Bandit #3: You're damn right you won't!

(Y/N): Yep! Under no circumstance will I impede any of you in any way!

The first bandit smacked the door with the butt of his pistol.

Bandit #3: Shut up!

(Y/N): Shutting up.

Bandit #2: ...you don't find the way he said that suspicious in any way?

The first bandit gave his ally a look.

Bandit #3: Don't you have somewhere to be?

The second vagrant sighed and started walking away.

Bandit #2: Alright, alright, I'm going...

Stepping out of the large wooden double doors to to the barn the bandit looked around to see the rest of their group.

With Raven ordering everyone to re-locate, the tribe split up into smaller group so as to throw off any pursuers. This particular group was forty strong led by one of Raven's lieutenants, Steele.

Walking the dirt road toward the main house, the man saw that many of his allies made small campfires and tents in the unattended fields that the farm once had. All were either getting drunk or sharpening their weapons.

Steele himself made the farmhouse itself his temporary headquarters. The trucks that they used were parked next to the house and a few others were unloading some supplies.

Nodding to the guard outside the door, the bandit walked into the house. Members of Steele's entourage were milling about the ruined home, making it their own. In the living room sitting on the old couch that once belonged to the owners of the farm was Steele, drinking from a large mug.

Bandit #2: Hey boss.

Steele lowered the mug to glance at one of his subordinates.

Steele: That brat secure?

Bandit #2: Yeah, we got him in the barn. So all we have to do now is wait right?

Steele laid back in his couch and took a swig from his mug.

Steele: Yep. We wait. We give Atlas their prize, and we walk away very rich men.

The others in the room chuckled to themselves at the thought of the very high bounty that they were going to turn in.

Steele: Easiest payday ever...

Before Steele could finish his mug the guard outside the house shouted in.

Bandit Guard: Hey boss! You need to see this!

Steele, not wanting to get up, just angrily shouted at the guard.

Steele: What!?

Bandit Guard: Uhhh.... Someone's here to... see you?...

Steele: See me?... what?

The couch creaked as the large man got to his feet and walked to the front door. To his surprise, standing outside the front porch of the farm house was a small redheaded girl.

Penny: Greetings and salutations!

Steele glanced at his guard who had a look on his face that was just as lost as his. Turning back to the girl, Steele straightened himself out and made himself look as intimidating as possible.

Steele: Who are you!?

Penny: A pleasure to meet you sir! My name is Penny Poledina! I am here to collect F/N L/N!

Steele looked confused.

Steele: Who?

Penny: Y/N! He's about my height and-!

Steele blinked, the girl in front of him didn't seem to be affected by his intimidating presence anymore than she was being in the middle of a camp of bandits.

Steele: Get the hell out of here you little brat!

Steele didn't give Penny the chance to finish.

Penny: Oh...

Steele watched as the girl seemed to lose some of her optimism for a moment before watching as she turned her head toward the rest of the camp. He could have sworn that he saw her eyes glow a faint green.

Steele: I said get out of here!

Steele clenched his fists to back up his threatening tone.

Penny turned to Steele, a warm smile still on her face.

Penny: I'll be right back!

Steele watched as the young girl turn around and happily skip away.

Steele shrugged and walked back into the house.

Steele: Annoying brat...

Slumping back onto the couch, the others looked to their leader inquisitively.

Bandit #5: So, who was it?

Steele: Eh. Some little girl...

Steele drank from his mug.

Steele: Sent her away though...

Steele's entourage seemed satisfied with that answer and started to resume whatever it was they were doing. All except one.

Bandit #2: So... am I going to have to be the straight man here and wonder why some little girl was out in the middle of no where?

There was a moment of silence as the question caught up with Steele's mind.

Steele: I-

Steele couldn't start his response when one of their trucks came crashing through the house.

_____

In the barn, the bandit standing guard outside Y/N's room sat on a nearby crate, cleaning the barrel of his pistol.

Bandit #3: What am I going to do with my share?

The bandit smiled to himself as his pistol started to shine from his cleaning.

Bandit #3: New weapons? No, new clothes...

When his pistol was finally clean, the bandit smiled to himself when he came to an answer.

Bandit #3: Nah, more booze.

BOOM

The bandit was brought out of his reverie when he heard a large crash and explosion from outside the barn.

Bandit #3: What the hell was that!?

Seconds later, the bandit heard shouting and gunshots outside.

Bandit #3: What the hell is- Gaaff!!!

The bandit had no time to worry as coming out of the shadows above came Qrow that quickly and quietly took down the lone sentry.

Qrow: Phew. Easy.

Walking to back, Qrow opened the door to see Y/N tied up.

(Y/N): Reese!

Qrow: What?

(Y/N): I mean Qrowe!

Qrow frowned.

Qrow: Stop that.

(Y/N): What?

Qrow knelt down and began to untie Y/N.

Qrow: Saying my name wrong.

(Y/N): What do you mean? Isn't your name Qruow?

Qrow: It's spelt: Q.R.O.W.

Now free, Y/N got to his feet.

(Y/N): How can you possible tell if I'm saying, Crow, Crowe, Qreau, Qrowe or Creau?

Qrow: I can tell! I can literally see you spelling it wrong!

(Y/N): ...you can see my wor-

Qrow: It's the name I was given, trust me, i can tell!

(Y/N): ... your name is spelt with a Q?

Qrow sighed deeply and smashed open the back wall of the barn.

Qrow: Let's go.

Making a hasty escape, Y/N and Qrow quickly ran into the dark forest.

Qrow: Kid, why didn't you run to the ship like I asked?

Y/N pointed to the compass on Qrow's hip.

(Y/N): You have the only compass.

Qrow glanced at his belt.

Qrow: Oh... well, did you have to get caught again?

(Y/N): Yes. Yes I did.

Qrow looked at Y/N confused.

Qrow: Why?

Y/N returned the look with another of his own.

(Y/N): Did you have a hard time finding those guys?

Qrow blinked.

Qrow: N-no...

It was at this moment that Qrow started to realize what Y/N had done.

Qrow: Wait, did you use those guys in order to-

(Y/N): To make it easy for you to find me once Penny kicked you six ways from Sunday. Yes.

Qrow: And to-

(Y/N): And to keep keep her busy. Yes.

Qrow: ...kid you're scary.

(Y/N): No, I'm in intense pain and I refuse to fight Penny directly. Like I said, she's nice.

Qrow: Well... if you think she's nice why did you leave her to fight all those bandits by herself?

(Y/N): Penny shot a literal hyper-beam at us. I think you should be more worried about the bandits.

Steele: (in the distance) Aaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!! Q_Q

Turning around, Y/N saw Steele in the distance flying through the air like a frisbee.

(Y/N): ... not him though...

_____

Reunited, Y/N and Qrow quickly made their way to where the drop-ship was hidden.

Qrow: It's just past here. Almost there.

Glancing behind him, Qrow noticed that Y/N was steadily lagging behind.

(Y/N): *pant* ...Hey... *pant* ...slow down... *pant* ...will you?.... *pant*

Qrow: Shit.

Qrow turned on his heel and grabbed Y/N.

Qrow: Just lean on me, kid.

(Y/N): *pant* ...Let's... *pant* ...just... *pant* ...get out of... *pant* ...here... *pant*

Qrow could feel the sweat that was dripping down the teen's face, and he didn't need light to know that Y/N's condition was worsening.

Qrow: Do you still have those pills the nurse gave you?

(Y/N): *pant* ...No... *pant* ...bandits took... *pant* ...took'em... *pant*

Qrow: Just a little bit longer, we're almost there.

Moving as fast as they could, Y/N and Qrow soon made their way to the clearing that hid the drop-ship the Huntsman had used.

Qrow: Just right-

BOOM

Before they could make it halfway, Penny once again landed between them and their escape.

Qrow: Seriously!? Can't we catch a break!?

(Y/N): *pant* ...story... *pant* ...of... *pant* ...my life... *pant*

Penny: Mr. Branwen, please relinquish Y/N immedietly.

Penny was more serious this time as her swords deployed from her back pack, forming a floating circle behind her.

Qrow grimaced as he reached for 'Harbinger'.

Qrow: If that's how it's going to be... kid, you'll have to-

Y/N slipped from Qrow's arm and slumped to the forest floor.

The sudden fall caused Qrow to relase his grip on 'Harbinger' and kneel down to the fallen teen.

Qrow: Shit, Y/N!

Qrow flipped Y/N onto his back and pulled his Scroll out for light. What he saw horrified him.

Y/N was covered in sweat and his breathing was strained, but more concerning were the black veins that had reached all the way to his neck.

Penny: Y/N?

Penny's expression changed when she saw Y/N on floor. Concerned, the redhead recalled her swords and ran to Qrow and Y/N.

Qrow: Come on kid, stay with me!

Penny: What is wrong with him?

Qrow: I...

Qrow looked at Penny, who had a genuinely worried look.

Qrow: ...don't know...

Penny turned her gaze to Y/N and her eyes suddenly glowed green.

Qrow: Uhh... what are you doing?

Penny's expression quickly changed from concerned to horrified in an instant.

Penny: Mr. Branwen, what exactly happened to Y/N!?

Penny looked at Qrow in desperation.

Qrow: I-I don't know!

Penny looked back down at Y/N.

Penny: I've never seen anything like this!

Qrow: What!?

Penny: Do you still have that medication from earlier!?

Qrow: N-no, he said that those bandits had taken it.

Penny looked down at Y/N and bit her lip, contemplating something.

Penny: I... need to bring Y/N in. Maybe-

Qrow: Do you really think that Atlas can do anything for him!?

Penny: I- Maybe!? B-but we won't know unle-

Qrow: Come on! Do you think he'll even survive a trip all the way to Atlas!?

Despite not showing it, Penny could see what was happening to Y/N's body, what the infection inside him was doing to him biologically.

Penny: He isn't just dying Mr. Branwen...

Qrow: Then all the more reason why I need to take him with me. I know someone that can help him.

Penny hesitated for a moment. She knew that she had a mission here but she couldn't bear to know that a friend of hers was suffering so much.

Penny: Go to your ship and get it ready for take-off...

Qrow: What?

Penny: You're right, Atlas does not currently have the resources necessary to cure Y/N, even if they could get him back to the kingdom in time. But you said that you know someone, right?

Qrow: Y-yeah.

Penny: Then, in order to come to a peaceful solution I will come with you.

Qrow: I don't think so ki-

Penny gave Qrow a look of her own.

Penny: Let us be honest Mr. Branwen, there is no possible way you're keeping me from helping my friend.

Qrow: I... uhh...

Qrow sighed.

Qrow: Sure, why not?

Qrow quickly got up and ran to the ship, leaving Y/N with Penny.

Penny: Y/N, can you hear me?

(Y/N): ....Hi.... ...Penny....

Y/N struggled to get the words out of his mouth. He was strained just to remain coherent.

Penny: I'm gonna pick you up and take you to the ship. Is that alright?

Y/N just nodded this time, his vision of the world darkening.

Penny: Y/N, you need to stay awake.

(Y/N): ...but... ...so...

Penny: No!

Penny poked Y/N with her finger with a small taser at the end of it, shocking Y/N slightly more awake.

(Y/N): Uuuuuuggggggghhhhhhh......

Penny smiled when she heard Y/N groan.

Penny: Okay, I'm going to pick you up. Ready?

(Y/N): .....Uuurrrrrgggghhh... ...nooooo...

Penny: One... Two...

Y/N didn't hear Penny finish her countdown and he wasn't being carried. Trying to force his eyes into focus he saw Penny with a surprised expression.

(Y/N): ...Penny?...

Something was protruding from her chest. Was that a stinger?

Tyrian: Three~

Tyrian knelt down next to Penny to admire his work, but frowned at what he saw.

Tyrian: What? Just a robot? Are you kidding?

Penny: I-I-I-I...

Penny seemed to be stuttering.

Tyrian: It's no fun if there's no blood...

The Faunas quickly retracted his tail and callously pushed Penny to the floor.

Tyrian: Hmph. Now, where were we?

Y/N ignored Tyrian, his eyes transfixed on Penny who stared, horrified at the grotesque hole in her body.

Tyrian: You know, you broke both of Hazel's arms. Both are nothing but noodles now! Just think! Those massive arms, reduced to nothing but noodles!

Y/N watched as Penny slowly turned her gaze to him.

Penny: I-I-I-I-I'm s-s-s-sor-r-r-y

Penny could barely complete her sentence before the light in her eyes dimmed and her head fell back.

Tyrian: Well, it's been fun kid! But it looks like your time is up! Oh well, at least you got to see the face of someone you care for before you die~

Tyrian's tail hovered right above Y/N's head.

Tyrian: Tata!~

Tyrian's tail lunged at Y/N's face, ready to gore the teen.

It stopped a mere few inches from target.

Tyrian: W-what!?

Y/N caught the deadly stinger with this left hand.

Tyrian: L-let go!

Y/N didn't. Instead he began to squeeze.

Tyrian: A-ah-aaarrrrrggggghhhh!!

Y/N dug his finger's into the stinger, causing it to crack and bleed.

Tyrian: AAAARRRRRHHHHHH LET GO!!!!

Tyrian swiped at Y/N's arm before jumping away. Barely stumbling to his feet, the Faunas looked at his partially crushed tail.

Tyrian: Y-y-you bastard! How dare you!?

Tyrian's eyes widened when he saw Y/N climb to his feet.

(Y/N): .....you.....

Tyrian: What!?

Y/N still appeared delirious to Tyrian, but for some reason he felt a familiar fear emanating from him.

Tyrian growled before lunging at the teen once again.

Tyrian: By the goddess, you will die!!

Tyrian didn't have the chance to do anything before Y/N lurched forward and managed to hit him in the face.

Tyrian: Gaaaackkk!!!

Knocked to the floor, Tyrian tried to get to his feet until he felt something on his back push him back down.

Tyrian: W-what!?

Looking behind him, he saw Y/N with his foot on his back.

Tyrian: Get off me you disgusting brat!!

The Faunas swung his tail in order to stab at the teen, but the strike was caught again.

Tyrian: Damnit! You brat!! Let go!!

Y/N didn't let go, instead he started to pull, by the time Tyrian realized what the teen was going to do, it was already too late.

Tyrian: W-wait! S-sto- AAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH

With a wet tear, Y/N brutally ripped Tyrian's tail from his lower-back.

Tyrian: AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!! YOU BAAAASTAAAARRD!!!

Y/N threw the tail away and looked down at Tyrian once again, this time, his gaze turned to the Faunas' left arm.

Tyrian managed to turn his head far enough that he could see what Y/N was going to do.

Tyrian: RRRRGGGHHH!! WHAT ARE-

Y/N viciously grabbed the man's arm and started to pull.

CRACK

Tyrian: AAAARGGGHHHH STOP!!!!

CRACK

Qrow: Kid, stop!!!

Seeing what happened, Qrow quickly got out of the ship and started running back to Y/N. But the teen either ignored or didn't hear his voice.

Tyrian: AAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

With another grotesque ripping sound, Y/N viciously removed the Faunas' left arm off.

Qrow: Kid, stop!!

Qrow managed to grab Y/N from behind and pull him off of Tyrian, giving the Faunas the opening he needed to scurry along the ground.

Tyrian: *pant* *pant* You... monster!! *pant* *pant* How dare!? *pant*

Tyrian tightly grabbed his left shoulder in order to staunch the bleeding but kept trying to crawl away.

Y/N's gaze, on the other hand, didn't leave Tyrian. Even when Qrow was pulling him away.

Qrow: Stop this, kid! This isn't you!

Tyrian sat up against a tree and hatefully glared at the two in front of him.

Tyrian: *pant* You fucking *pant* brat!! You-

Tyrian's eyes widened when he looked into Y/N's eyes. He saw something that caused his anger to turn into unrestrained maddening laughter.

Tyrian: *pant* You... *pant* You're... *pant* Hahah... I get it... *pant* I get it!!!

Tyrian climbed to his feet, blood still pouring from his left shoulder.

Tyrian: I get it now, my goddess!! Hahahaha!!! I get it!!! Hahahaha!!!!

As Qrow started pulling Y/N away, Tyrian took the opportunity to escape, laughing the whole way.

Tyrian: This was you plan all along, my goddess, wasn't it!?! Hahahaha!!!!

Y/N watched as Tyrian slunk back into the forest and began to try walking forward.

(Y/N): ...you... ...Penny...

Qrow: Stop kid! You've already won! We don't have time!

(Y/N): ...Penn- Urrghhh...

Y/N didn't have time to say anything else before he vomited up black liquid.

Qrow: Shit!! Shit!!!

The last thing Y/N saw before he completely blacked out was Penny's body, lying still on the forest floor.

Author:

These past three chapters had been the bane to my existence for the longest time. If you guys knew just how many time I re-wrote these chapters, you'd call me insane. Even now, I kinda want to make some changes, but I feel like I have to get past this part so I can continue the story.

That being said, thank you to everyone who took the time out of their day to read this amateur's story! I hope you have a great day!
