Chapter 27: Burning Skies (Part 1)
Morning
City of Vale
What was once an intense battle in the city streets of Vale turned into a high tension stand off between Atlas and a small group of Huntsmen.
Glynda: Your "authority"!?
Glynda grew more agitated as she processed what Ironwood said.
Glynda: I've put up with your thick-headed brash way of handling things for a long time, but this!? This is beyond 'crossing the line'! How can you think this is alright!?
The soldiers surrounding the group grew more tense as Glynda shouted at their leader. Even Winter grew more irate as Glynda shouted at Ironwood.
Ironwood: Glynda, I understand you're upset, but-
Glynda: Upset!? I'm just a little more than "upset"! These are children! And you're treating them like they're fugiti-
Ironwood: I'm not here for any of your students, Glynda...
Glynda was both surprised and confused by Ironwood's answer.
Glynda: Then... why are you...?
Ironwood: You, your students, and your colleague, are free to leave.
Glynda glanced around at the Atlas soldiers who still had their weapons aimed at her students.
Glynda: If we're free to leave... why are your soldiers still aiming their weapons at us.
Ironwood: They aren't aimed at your students. Just him.
Ironwood pointed to Y/N.
(Y/N): What!?
The group shared Y/N surprised expression at Ironwood's statement.
Weiss: You're here for Y/N? Why?
Yang: Y/N's no criminal!
(Y/N): Yeah!
Yang: He's a little slow, but he's still a good person!
(Y/N): Yea- Oh...
Ironwood: As I said...
Ironwood looked to Glynda, who still had an irritated look on her face.
Ironwood: You, your students, and your colleague are free to leave...
Ironwood glanced back at the group.
Ironwood: ...and I'd ask for you to do so immediately.
Glynda stepped in front of Ironwood once again.
Glynda: I don't know if you know this, but Y/N is a student of mine.
Ironwood: Not anymore he isn't...
Blake: H-he's not?
(Y/N): I'm not?
Oobleck: That's absurd Y/N, of course you're a student.
Oobleck, still bent down next to Ruby, looked at Y/N.
Oobleck: Ironwood--while general of the Atlesian military and headmaster of his own academy--does not have the authority to expel a student of a different school. Only the headmaster of the academy in question can do so. For this instance, only Professor Ozpin can remove Y/N from the school roster.
Ironwood: I know...
Ironwood glanced back and nodded to Winter, who nodded back and pulled out a document from her coat. She stepped forward and handed Glynda the form.
Reading over the document, Glynda's eyes went wide.
Glynda: How can this be...?
Blake looked on with growing concern.
Blake: What is it?
Glynda: This is-
Ironwood: It is a signed release form, releasing (F/N) (L/N) into Atlas custody.
Yang: What!?
Blake: No way!
Weiss: Wait, a "signed" release form?
Ironwood: That is correct. This document was not only signed by headmaster Ozpin, but by the ruling council of the Kingdom of Vale.
Oobleck: That's impossible! There's no way the Council would come to a decision that decisive so quickly. There wasn't even a formal hearing-
Ironwood: Enough!
Ironwood cut off Oobleck before he could continue his thought and looked back to Glynda, who was still at a loss for words as she read the document.
Ironwood: Professor Goodwitch, please tell your students and staff to stand aside. The decision has already been made.
Glynda: I...
Yang: You're going to have to go through me first!
Yang got to her feet and stood between Y/N and Ironwood.
Yang: I'm not about to let you or anyone take my friends!
Winter: Listen here, girl, General Ironwood's words were very clear. Stand aside.
Yang: Oh, I heard them! I'm just ignoring them.
Yang cracked her knuckles.
Blake: I'm not standing by either.
Blake stepped next to her teammate and they both glared at Ironwood and his soldiers.
Winter: You children are making a huge mistake.
Winter grimaced further as she watched Beacon's students stand in their way.
Weiss: The only mistake we could make; is letting you take Y/N.
Following her two teammates, Weiss stepped up and stood defiantly against Atlas.
Winter: Weiss! Did you not hear what I said!?
Weiss visibly flinched when her sister yelled at her, but stood her ground.
Weiss: Y-yes I did... but...
Weiss glanced back at Y/N.
Weiss: ...he might be a fool, but Y/N's done nothing wrong!
Winter: We are not here to debate with you! General Ironwood has already received the approval of not only Ozpin but the Kingdom of Vale Council! To stand in our way is obstruction of justice!
Winter tightly gripped her sword, causing the three students to ready themselves and take a step back.
Ironwood: This is your final warning. Stand aside.
The three students didn't move, while a little intimidated by the forces against them, they stood firm.
Ironwood glared at the defiant students.
Ironwood: Then you leave me no choice...
Ozpin: That will not be necessary General.
Before Ironwood could give a command, Ozpin cut through the crowd of soldiers and calmly stood beside Ironwood.
Yang: Professor Ozpin!
Ozpin gave the members of team RWBY a faint smile and then looked around.
Ozpin: A bit excessive, don't you think?
Ironwood: Hardly.
Ozpin: Perhaps...
Glynda: Professor Ozpin...!
Glynda quickly walked to Ozpin and showed him the signed document.
Glynda: ...is this true!?
Ozpin remorsefully sighed.
Ozpin: I'm afraid so.
Glynda: What!?
Blake: That can't be true!
Ozpin stepped past Glynda and confronted the three Huntresses-in-training.
Ozpin: I am very proud of you, of all of you, for your hard work in not only protecting the city but also for standing up for your friend. But I ask that all of you please allow Atlas to finish what they came for.
Yang: You can't be serious!
Blake: That's not fair!
Weiss: What did Y/N even do!?
Ozpin: I understand your confusion and anger about all of this but please... for now... stand down. I'd like to keep the number of battles in the city to a minimum.
Yang: But-!
(Y/N): Uh... can someone...
Everyone present turned their attention to Y/N, his hands still in the air.
(Y/N): ...explain to me what going on?
Ozpin: Yes, I think I owe you that much.
Ozpin walked passed the members of the expedition and approached Y/N.
Ozpin: Do you remember the forms that you signed when you first started at Beacon?
(Y/N): You mean the forms you tricked me into signing?
Ozpin: I did no such thing.
(Y/N): Yes you did!
Ozpin: At no point during that process did I give you any false information.
(Y/N): Well...
Y/N thought back to the night he first met the headmaster of Beacon Academy.
(Y/N): ...you took advantage of me!
Ozpin: Hm. Debatable.
(Y/N): -_-
Ozpin: Anyways, what General Ironwood said is correct, you are no longer a student at Beacon Academy.
Yang: Are you serious!?
Weiss: What did Y/N do wrong!?
(Y/N): Uh, yeah. What they said...
Ozpin: The Council of Vale--the ruling body of the Kingdom of Vale itself--has unanimously voted to turn Y/N over to Atlas custody.
(Y/N): Huh...
Blake: How is that fair?!
Blake shouted at Ozpin as well as Ironwood.
Blake: Isn't there supposed to be a trial!?
Weiss: That's right! All people--Human or Faunas--have the right to trial!
Winter: That only applies if he was a human or a Faunas...
Weiss and Blake looked at Winter completely confused.
Weiss: What are you talking about!? Of course he's a human being! Look at him!
(Y/N): Uh...is it alright if I put my hands down, they're getting kinda tired...
As Y/N slowly lowered his arms, the soldiers closest to him prepared to fire.
(Y/N): Okay! Okay!
Y/N shot his arms back up.
Weiss shrugged and then looked back at her sister.
Weiss: A bit of a simpleton, but a human nonetheless!
(Y/N): My feelings...
Ozpin: It's already been decided...
Ozpin turned to face Y/N.
Ozpin: I realize that this is sudden and that you're still tired from-
(Y/N): Is this about the explosion a while back?
Ozpin: ...Yes.
(Y/N): -_-
Y/N looked around at the soldiers surrounding them and then at Ironwood.
(Y/N): Are they good people?
Ozpin glanced back at Ironwood, who returned it with a stern but confused look.
Ozpin thought for a moment and then turned back to face Y/N.
Ozpin: Ironwood... while he may appear brutal, always tries his best to do the right thing.
There was a moment of silence as Y/N thought about what he should do.
(Y/N): *sigh* Fine... I'll go with them...
Yang: No!
Blake: Y/N!
Weiss: Why!?
While Weiss, Blake, and Yang, protested Y/N's decision, Ozpin and Ironwood both subtly let out a sigh of relief.
Ironwood: Take him.
Winter: Sir!
Winter saluted and marched toward Y/N followed closely behind by a squad of soldiers and drones.
(Y/N): 0_o Be gentle! Be gentle!
Winter snapped her fingers and a small group of soldiers pushed in a large high-tech gurney. The rectangular device hovered over the ground and looked to be designed to hold a person.
(Y/N): I said: "Be gentle"!
Yang: What the hell!?
The conscious members of RWBY and the Beacon Academy staff watched in silent surprise as Winter roughly placed Y/N into the imprisonment device.
(Y/N): Ow.
Y/N was shoved down onto the padding of the gurney and seconds later steel restraints quickly and suddenly wrapped themselves around Y/N limbs, chest, and neck.
(Y/N): Oh that's snug...
Even Ozpin was surprised on how Ironwood handled the situation. Ozpin assumed that Ironwood would simply escort him away, but this was something he never could have imagined. Ozpin glared at Ironwood as they took Y/N away.
(Y/N): Question: What if I need to pee?...
Winter and the soldiers escorting him away ignored Y/N's questions.
(Y/N): ...anyone?

A Little While Later
Drop-ship
Ruby: Ugh...
The monotonous hum of the drop-ship's engine filled Ruby's ears as she regained consciousness. When the rest of her senses began to return to her, Ruby found herself laying on her back on the floor of a drop-ship mid flight.
Blake: Hey, Ruby's awake!
Ruby: Ow... what happened?
On the drop-ship with Ruby were the rest of her team, and professors; Ozpin, Oobleck, and Goodwitch.
Yang: Sis! Are you okay!?
Yang fell to her knees and hugged her sister tightly.
Ruby: Ah! Hey... *groan* Yang!
Oobleck: Glad to see you awake Ruby.
Yang released her hug and looked at her sister.
Yang: Don't ever worry me like that again.
Ruby: I won't...
Everyone was pleased to see Ruby awake and aware again.
Weiss: I'm glad to see you awak again Ruby, but what happened down in the tunnel?
Ruby: The... tunnel?... *gasp* The tunnel! You guys aren't going to believe this!
Yang: Believe wha- woah Ruby!
Ruby quickly and suddenly jumped to her feet.
Blake: You need to take it easy Ruby.
Ruby: It was so cool guys! Y/N fought those Grimm like they were nothing!
Yang: What? Y/N? Fighting Grimm?
Weiss: What are you talking about now Ruby?
Ruby's teammates looked at their leader like she went insane.
Ruby: It was amazing! Y/N single-handedly stopped a huge swarm of Grimm!
Weiss: It's official... Ruby has finally lost it.
Ruby: It's true! Tell them Y/N!
There was an awkward silence when Ruby waited for Y/N to respond.
Ruby: Y/N?
It was only till now that Ruby finally noticed that Y/N wasn't with them.
Ruby: Where's... Y/N?
Ruby's teammates avoided eye contact when she asked that question. Even the teachers present felt a pang of regret when Ruby asked her question.
Ruby: Guys... where's Y/N?
When no one answered her, Ruby turned to Ozpin.
Ruby: Professor?...
Ozpin looked at Ruby and then to her teammates, all of whom had remorseful expressions. Ozpin sighed before looking back at Ruby.
Ozpin: I'm sorry Ruby, but... Y/N is no longer a student of Beacon Academy.
Ruby: Why?...
This was the question that Ruby's teammates had been asking him since they first boarded the drop-ship back to the academy. Glancing back at Ruby's teammates, Ozpin saw that they also had that exact same question.
Ozpin: I think... you four deserve an explanation.

_____
Atlesian Battleship
(Y/N): Uh... Hello?...
After being detained by Atlas, Y/N found himself transported to one of the large ships that circled the city. Once inside, Y/N and the restraint gurney he was on was moved into a large cell on board.
(Y/N): There's an itch on my nose...
His limbs and neck still restrained by the device Atlas put him in, Y/N made different facial expressions in order to scratch the tip of his nose.
(Y/N): Oh god, it's really itchy...
Y/N's quest of scratching his nose was stopped abruptly when the reinforced steel door to his cell opened up.
(Y/N): Uh... hello? My nose, it's really itchy...
Y/N couldn't see who came in but could tell at least two people came into his cell. Moments later the hovering gurney he was on began to rise. The side that Y/N's head was on lifted upward so that it seemed that Y/N was laying on a slanted bed.
Now somewhat upright, Y/N could finally see who came into his cell; General Ironwood, Winter, and a small group of Atlesian officers.
(Y/N): Uh....
Ironwood: (F/N) (L/N), correct? That's the name you go by?
(Y/N): Yeah?....
Ironwood: I will give you a chance... What are you?
(Y/N): ...What?...
Y/N looked at Ironwood, confused. Y/N's neck was still restrained so moving his head was pretty difficult.
Ironwood: Don't feign ignorance!
The officers behind Ironwood tensed slightly when he began shouting. Winter had a hand on her sword since she entered the cell, carefully observing the prisoner, ready to fight at a moment's notice.
(Y/N): I'm not feigning ignorance! I'm genuinely confused by your question! "What am I?"? What kind of question is that? Just look at me!
Ironwood furrowed his brows before tapping something on his wrist. Appearing next to Ironwood was a projection of the burnt crater that Y/N caused when he first arrived on Remnant.
Ironwood: Do you recognize these pictures?
(Y/N): Uh....
Y/N began to sweat slightly as he looked at the photos of the charred crater he made.
(Y/N): ...No?...
Ironwood ignored Y/N's response.
Ironwood: The energy that created this crater has never been seen or recorded before.
(Y/N): You... don't say...
Ironwood continued.
Ironwood: The explosion of energy not only completely disintegrated the surrounding forestry but sent a... pulse.
(Y/N): A 'pulse'?
Ironwood: Yes.
The pictures changed to show a topographic map of the region. There was a smaller red circle that marked the crater itself, around it was a significantly larger yellow circle that covered most of the map.
Ironwood: The red circle shows the crater itself, the yellow circle...
Ironwood glared at Y/N.
Ironwood: ...is the projected radius of the pulse that you sent throughout the surrounding area. Every single Grimm inside that yellow circle were instantly attracted to the source of the energy pulse.
Ironwood pointed to the red circle.
Ironwood: You.
(Y/N): O-oh...
Y/N wasn't sure how he should process the information Ironwood was giving him.
Ironwood: Do you know just how many Grimm fall into this area?
(Y/N): N-no...
Ironwood: Hundreds.
(Y/N): I see...
Ironwood: Now, I don't know how you managed to escape the area without getting killed, but...
The map in front of Y/N shifted toward the town of Trist that was located fairly close to the crater.
Ironwood: ...not everyone was as "fortunate" as you.
Ironwood turned to face away from Y/N as the images of the ruined and destroyed town of Trist popped up on the projection. When Ironwood didn't get a response, he continued.
Ironwood: There wasn't a single survivor. A large town with people living in it was completely wiped off the face of the planet.
Again, silence.
Ironwood: The Grimm that you attracted destroyed a town of innocent civilians! So, I'll ask one more time...
Ironwood turned to face Y/N.
Ironwood: What are you-!?
Ironwood stopped mid question when he saw Y/N's expression. Y/N's eyes were wide in silent shock as he looked at the different images of Trist. Ironwood had expected and mentally prepared himself for many different reactions from Y/N, from complete apathy to even misguided excuses.
Winter: Sir?
When Ironwood stopped interrogating Y/N, Winter approached the silent general, curious.
Ironwood: We're done here.
Ironwood, without asking any further questions, turned away and began to leave the room.
Ironwood: Make sure the prisoner is secured and then report to your stations.
Winter and Atlas Officers: Yes sir!
The troops saluted their general as he left.
Y/N didn't pay attention to the Atlas personnel that refastened his restraints, Y/N's attention was entirely glued to the pictures in front of him. The pics of Trist cycled through different images that displayed different locations in the ruined town.
(Y/N): No way...
The town that had been alive and thriving not so long ago had been reduced to ruin. The pictures then began to cycle through the corpses that Atlas found at the town.
Winter carefully watched Y/N as the officers made their checks on the restraints. At first Winter glared at Y/N, wondering why Ironwood left so soon into the questioning.Winter gripped her sword and shifted her sight to Y/N's head. The prisoner's eyes were transfixed on the images of the ruined town.
Atlas Officer: We're finished ma'am, he's ready to be transported.
Winter turned her attention to the officer.
Winter: Excellent work.
The officer saluted her and led his group out of the cell, Winter followed soon after.

Ozpin's Office
Ozpin led team RWBY and his two staff members to his office.
Ozpin: Here we are.
The group exited the elevator and proceeded into the office, strangely one of the windows was open when they first entered. Ozpin sat at his desk with Oobleck and Glynda standing on either side of him. In front of his desk, all members of team RWBY stood side by side each other.
Ozpin: Now... I'm sure all four of you have plenty of questions for m-
Ruby: What happened to Y/N?
Weiss: Why was Atlas interested in Y/N in the first place?
Blake: What aren't you telling us?
Yang: We want answers!
THWAP
Glynda: Calm down children!
Glynda slapped her riding crop against the desk, instantly silencing the four students.
Ozpin rubbed the small scratch the riding crop made on his desk.
Glynda: Err.... sorry.
Ozpin: It's no problem, but onto more important matters.
Ozpin looked at the four students in front of him.
Ozpin: To catch your leader up, Y/N has been handed over to Atlas.
Ruby: Why!?
Ruby stepped forward, completely lost as to why Y/N wasn't with them anymore.
Ozpin took a breath.
Ozpin: Do you four recall your little "field trip" that you went on with Qrow?
Yang: Yeah.
Glynda: Which was still very irresponsible of you four!
Glynda crossed her arms.
Ozpin: Well, Qrow's mission was to investigate an explosion that occurred near the town of Trist, which was located south Vale.
Blake: We remember. Weiss and myself investigated the explosion zone with Qrow while Ruby and Yang went to Trist to ask the locals about what they may have seen.
Ozpin: Correct. Now tell me, what did you ladies find out?
The members of team RWBY looked at each other before answering.
Weiss: I've never seen a crater like that...
Weiss thought back to when she investigated the charred landscape.
Weiss: ...it was like a wall of fire spread outward and then just... stopped. The surrounding trees were completely unscathed, which makes no sense if it was an explosion.
Blake: And that's not including the Grimm tracks that were made after the explosion leading into the crater.
Yang: We never did find out what happened to those Grimm.
Ruby: It was Y/N, wasn't it?
Weiss, Blake, and Yang, looked at their leader confused.
Ozpin: Yes, it was.
Yang: Wait, what?
Weiss: That doesn't make any sense!
Blake initially had the same thoughts as Weiss and Yang until she started thinking more carefully.
Ruby: It makes complete sense.
Ruby looked at her teammates.
Ruby: In the tunnel under Vale, I went looking for Y/N. When I found him he was far from needing help...
The three teachers listened intently to Ruby.
Ruby: ...I saw Y/N take down Grimm like he used to do that all the time.
Yang: Ruby, Y/N is a non-combat student, how could a regular person do something like that?
Ozpin: Like so...
Ozpin tapped his desk and a projection appeared on top. The projection was the recording of Y/N at "Midnight Dust" back when he first came to Vale.
The recording showed the familiar well-dressed gangsters that Roman Torchwick first employed emptying out the reserves of Dust from the front of the store.
Weiss: Wait... This is "Midnight Dust" isn't it?
Ozpin: That is correct.
Weiss wasn't the only one looking at the recording curiously.
Blake: Weren't those employees already free when we got there?
Yang: Yeah, that right!
The girls noticed that the staff of the store were tied up behind the counter of the store as the gangsters carried out their tasks.
Blake: How did they escape?
Ruby: Isn't that Y/N?
Ruby pointed to the area with the hostages, and among those there was Y/N.
Weiss: Hey, you're right!
Yang: Wait, wasn't he in the back of the store when we got there?
Ozpin smiled.
Ozpin: Watch.
Turning their attention back to the projection, one of the gangsters had just gotten off his radio.
Gangster #1: You heard him.
Gangster #2: Hell yeah, "execution style"
Gangster #3: Hey don't make too much of a mess.
Gangster #1: What's it matter? We ain't cleaning it up.
The gangster cocked his gun and aimed it at the head of the employee in front of Y/N.
Employee: P-please d-d-don't do this!
The gangster smirked as he began to pull the trigger, the four girls eyes went wide as they assumed they were about to see someone be killed.
BANG
The sound of the gun made the four students flinch in surprise. Blake looked away, and Weiss and Ruby covered their eyes.
Weiss: Eep!
Ruby: I-is it over?
Yang: Woah... guys, you gotta see this.
Yang was the only one to force herself to keep watching, if out of morbid curiosity.
The other girls slowly looked back at the screen to see that the employee was still alive.
Weiss: How did?
Blake: How is that possible?
The four girls were in awe of what was going on.
Ozpin: It gets better.
Ozpin had a slight smile as the recording continued.
Still tied up, Y/N jumped to his feet and began to quickly and efficiently take down the gangsters robbing the front of the store.
Weiss: Woah...
Blake: Insane...
Ruby: So cool...
Yang: That jerk!
Ruby, Weiss, and Blake, all turned to see Yang with her fist in the air.
Ruby: What is it?
Yang: If Y/N could fight all along I should've been harder on him during training!
Weiss shrugged.
Weiss: Of course you're mad about that...
Ruby: *sigh* Yang...
Yang: Of course I'm mad about it! He's been slacking this whole time!
The footage continued, showing Y/N cut himself and then the rest of the employees free.
Blake: Well, now we know how everyone got out.
As Y/N directed the hostages out the front of the store, one of the gangsters got back to his feet and lifted his gun at the fleeing employees.
Gangster #1: Ugh... No one does that to me! NO ONE!!
Ruby: Oh no!
Yang: Watch out!
(Y/N): *sigh* Really?
Y/N jumped in between the fleeing employees and the angered gangster.
The girls' eyes darted between Y/N and the gun. When the gun began to go off the girls once again flinched in shock. However, that feeling was short lived as the recording continued.
Not one of the members of team RWBY could have possibly imagined what happened next.
As the gun went off, Y/N hands moved at a speed the camera could not keep up with so only a quick blur was all they could see. The gun kept firing and the blur that was Y/N's arms kept flashing on the screen. When the gun finally seemed to run out of ammo the gangster stumbled backward in complete shock.
Gangster #1: N-no fucking way...
The gangster in the recording wasn't the only one completely flabbergasted by what just happened. All four members of team RWBY had the exact same expression as the gangster.
(Y/N): Hell yeah! I am the chosen one- Ow! Hot! Hot!
Y/N quickly dropped every single bullet that was fired at him and began to blow into his hands.
Blake: No... way...
Ruby: Wow...
The girls weren't the only ones fascinated by the footage.
Oobleck: Remarkable! The speed in which Y/N's hands would have to go in order to even hope to achieve that is unthinkable.
Oobleck began to quickly write notes into his notebook.
Weiss: You still think he needs training?
Weiss looked at Yang who was still dumbfounded by what she just saw.
Yang: Uh...
Ozpin: As you four can see, Y/N is far from normal or helpless.
Ozpin tapped his desk again and the video paused.
Blake: That's a lot to take in...
Weiss: Is... is that Y/N's Semblance?
Glynda: Unfortunately, we have yet to discover Y/N's Semblance.
Yang: Wait, that wasn't his Semblance!?
Yang was now even more dumbfounded.
Oobleck: Even more remarkable!
Oobleck began writing even faster.
Oobleck: Can I get a copy of this footage?
Glynda rolled her eyes.
Ruby: That was so cool! It was just like a movie!
Blake: That still doesn't explain why Atlas took Y/N.
Blake's question brought everyone back to the task at hand.
Ozpin: True. Atlas took Y/N not because of his fighting skills but because of the explosion that occurred near Trist...
Ozpin brought up a different projection on top of his desk.
Ozpin: The energy explosion that occurred came from an energy source that's never been seen before.
The projection showed the different types of energy known on Remnant. The various types of Dust, electricity, and frequencies were each labeled accordingly. Then came the energy signal that came from Y/N. It was marked as "unknown" and was categorized by itself.
Ozpin: Atlas obtained custody of Y/N under the reason of scientific research as well as... containment...
Ruby: "Containment"?
Ozpin: The energy that emitted from the explosion is not only completely unknown to us, but it also attracts Grimm like nothing else. As you recall, the crater out in the wilderness had Grimm tracks leading into the crater...
Yang: That's right! The townsfolk in Trist said that they felt a quake and then watched as swarms of Grimm completely ignored them and ran toward the explosion.
Ozpin: The energy spike attracted Grimm from the whole region, and I don't need to describe to you four just how many that is...
Yang: That's... yeah... a lot.
Ruby: So they took him because Y/N attracts Grimm?
Blake: That doesn't make any sense either! While we were at Mountain Glenn none of the Grimm there were drawn to him.
Ozpin took a deep breath.
Ozpin: The energy explosion that occurred... no living organism could survive it...
There was a moment of silence after Ozpin spoke.
Blake: What?
Ozpin: The energy that emits from Y/N's body and from the explosion is incredibly unstable, at least from the measurements taken. Atlas believes that Y/N is not human or Faunas and he's a potential threat to all the kingdoms.
Ruby: How can they do that!? Of course Y/N is human, he laughs, eats, sleeps... he's our friend!
Ozpin: What happens if an explosion, like the one that happened near Trist, occurs in the city?
Ruby: But he's never-
Ozpin: If that explosion is Y/N's Semblance how does he control it? What about the energy he emits?
Ruby didn't know how to answer those questions, none of the members of team RWBY knew how to answer.
Ozpin: These were the questions that Ironwood posed to the Vale Council... and why he obtained custody so easily...
Ruby: What do we do now?
Ruby looked worried at Ozpin.
Ozpin: *sigh* For now, nothing. You four should head to bed, it's been a very eventful day...
Ozpin got up and circled around to the front of his desk.
Ozpin: ...and you ladies look exhausted.
Ruby: But what about Y/N?
Ozpin: I will speak to Ironwood. I promise I will do everything that I can to get Y/N back.
Ruby looked down.
Ruby: O-okay...
The four students silently left Ozpin's office, their minds still processing everything that's happened to them.
After team RWBY left Glynda looked at Ozpin.
Glynda: From what I saw on that release form, the Council and Ironwood has already made up their minds.
Ozpin: I know, the Council even made Ironwood head of security for the upcoming Vytal Festival.
Glynda: Then what do we do?
Qrow: Yeah...
Glynda turned around to see Qrow by the open window.
Qrow: ..what are we going to do about this Oz?...

Battleship Bridge
Ironwood silently gazed out toward the horizon, his thoughts on the day's events. The other crew members on the bridge continued to carry out their duties as their General kept to himself.
Winter: Sir.
Winter entered the bridge and approached Ironwood and stood at attention.
Ironwood: Is everything ready?
Winter: Yes sir, the prisoner is ready for transport.
Ironwood: The convoy?
Winter: The battleship as well as two smaller frigates are finishing fueling as we speak.
Ironwood: Good. I want the prisoner and the convoy enroute to Atlas tomorrow morning.
Winter: Yes sir!... and sir...
Ironwood glanced back at Winter.
Winter: My apologies for allowing such a dangerous person to roam about the academy for so long.
Ironwood: We're not sure if he even is a person... but you couldn't have known what he was... especially since Ozpin kept it from you.
Winter: S-still...
Winter frowned as she hallowed in her failure.
Ironwood: Do not lose confidence in yourself Specialist Schnee.
Winter: Sir!
Winter brought herself to attention.
Ironwood: I need you prepared for anything that might occur while we are transporting the prisoner.
Winter: Nothing will get by me sir.
Ironwood: Good. Dismissed.
Winter saluted and then marched off of the bridge, leaving Ironwood once again.
Ironwood sighed and returned to looking out over the horizon. Turning his gaze over, Ironwood saw the battleship that was to transport Y/N tomorrow. The ship was going through it's flight checks and were loading personnel onto it. Troops were lined up and filed into the ship, one line at a time.
Ironwood: I'm sorry Ozpin... but something like this can't be kept hidden from the world.

Atlas Landing Pad
The large battleship hovered next to the cliff that Beacon was located on. Troops and drones loaded various supplies onto the ship.
Atlas Officer: Get those crates loaded onto the ship, we're leaving tomorrow morning!
Atlas Soldier: What are we transporting sir?
The officer turned to face the soldier that asked him the question.
Atlas Officer: A prisoner, soldier! Anything else is on a need to know basis by order of Specialist Schnee!
Atlas Soldier: Yes sir!
The soldier saluted and ran back to his unit.
???: Sir, reporting for transfer.
Atlas Officer: Hm?
The officer raised an eyebrow.
Atlas Officer: I wasn't aware of any transfers today.
???: It was last minute.
The female soldier handed the officer the transfer orders she had and after taking a moment to read through it the officer nodded.
Atlas Officer: Very well. Welcome aboard you three!
The officer saluted the three new transfers aboard the ship.
The three new soldiers returned the salute with one of their own.
Cinder: No, thank you...

I am SO sorry for this late release! I've been very unwell recently and I've had a lot more work to handle on my end so getting free time to just write has been very scarce.
I also ended up re-writing this whole chapter a few times because I wasn't happy with how I wanted to handle what happens next, sorry! >_<
I will still try my best to release the next chapter on time next time.
