It was good, delicious even. The delectable taste had his mouth watering, and he wanted more of it. Thankfully it was right there so he just took it, mechanically licking up every last drop until there was nothing left. That was no good, he needed more. No, he wanted more. While a fair amount still coated him, he headed for the source.

A few moments later he was beside the source. Tilting his head, he frowned as he crouched down next to the unmoving body. The blood came from them... That wasn't good. The blood was good, but the source wasn't good. That meant that the delicious blood was bad. Kaito let out a soft whine as he listened to the weaker than usual thrum of blood. He wanted, he really really did. His mouth was still salivating, saliva steadily dripping down his chin.

There was no way that he could take the blood, not when the thrum was so weak. He just couldn't. Regretful, and vaguely starving, Kaito closed his eyes and curled up next to the couch. Later, when the delicious blood was strong, that's when he'd take some.

When Shinichi woke up, he felt sluggish. Opening his eyes was difficult, but he eventually managed it. His heart rate skyrocketed the moment he laid eyes on Kaito. The magician was covered in dried blood, his red eyes staring intensely at the wrist he was hanging off the couch. Almost instantly, Kaito snatched his hand, sinking his fangs into it.

"Calm down, your heart rate is probably making him think that you're fine" Ai spoke, voice a little quieter than normal. She looked uneasy, but not too alarmed.

Shinichi swallowed, then forced himself to calm down. Something must have happened to trigger Kaito's instincts. Without the alarm, the sleuth was able to realize that his wrist didn't actually hurt. It felt a bit weird, but it sure didn't feel like there were two sharp fangs digging into it. He kept his attention on Kaito "I'm fine with you drinking my blood and all, but not when I've just woken up" He kept his voice teasing, not wanting to inflict any guilt onto the other when Kaito inevitably regained his senses. Thankfully Kaito's pace was slow.

Kaito paused, eyes glowing a soft shade of red as he slowly met the sleuth's gaze, blinking a few times. With each blink, the glow seemed to dim more, the red receding until his irises returned to normal. Suddenly he jolted, pulling away with wide eyes "I bit you without permission!" Kaito gasped, horrified as he recalled everything. The sleuth looked pale.

Nodding, Shinichi turned his gaze towards Ai "Yes, though you probably had a very good reason for it since Haibara isn't trying to kill you" It was a fact that the little scientist wouldn't just let a dangerous threat roam free in her very own home.

"Correct" Ai admitted "I triggered his instincts with your blood" She grimaced "While he may have lost his senses, it is promising that he just guarded you instead of killing you"

"I still ended up biting him in the end though" Kaito's tone was mournful, he glanced at his hands. The blood had been licked away, but they still felt dirty "A part of me is content with what I did..." He admitted, feeling guilty.

"It's okay" Shinichi offered a small smile "You were barely even pulling any blood" He paused, looking contemplative for a few moments "I think you were actually just tasting" It was an interesting thought "You weren't swallowing like you were drinking anything, but blood wasn't leaking" There wasn't any fresh blood on Kaito. Still noting Kaito's unease, Shinichi sighed "You stopped when it registered to you that I wasn't well"

"Your self control is great" Ai added "You passed the test" She then smirked "Now if Kudo does something stupid and gets really hurt, I now know that you won't finish him off by drinking the rest of his blood"

Kaito paled at the thought. He hadn't really realized that such a thing could have happened "I guess that we're all lucky it seems"

Azure narrowed "Wait" He eyed the tiny scientist curiously "What would you have done if Kaito didn't end up having such good self control?" Kaito was faster than Ai, and much stronger.

Ai averted her gaze "I would have shot his brains out if he'd been attacking you when I caught up to him" Because by that time, odds were, the sleuth would have already perished. She gave a small shrug "A mercy kill" The magician's nature was soft, he wouldn't have been able to handle killing yet another person. Especially if that person was his lover.

Still looking discontent, Kaito nodded "Okay" That was an ideal outcome for if he ever did such a thing "Thank you for being so considerate" He offered a small smile.

The little scientist scoffed, looking away "I'm going to go clean some stuff up now that everything is settled" With that she left the two of them alone.

Shinichi stood, taking Kaito's hand so the other was forced to stand as well "Let's go back, I'm sure that you want a shower" He grimaced "Dried blood is uncomfortable and it wouldn't even taste good to you"

A tiny huff escaped Kaito as a small grin tugged at his lips "I'm not even surprised that you know that" Shinichi was right though, the dried blood was pulling at his skin. Not a pleasant feeling.

"I've been drenched in blood so many times that I've lost count" Shinichi sighed. The first time had been quite shocking to say the least.

Kaito blinked "Then your luck is unexpectedly great since you haven't caught anything from that"

The sleuth's face soured at the thought "I guess that's true" There was a lot of nasty stuff that could infect people through blood. If he'd gotten infected with something really bad, then he'd have to quit being a detective since the job was dangerous. Having a high risk job while having a disease that could be spread through blood would be selfish. He'd just be endangering people whenever he got hurt.

Me: So Kaito didn't kill Shinichi~ Yay

I recently bought a waxmelter, most of the offered wax cube scents smell terrible to me XD

But vanilla is good thankfully ^-^
