I woke up, stretching my hands out as I yawned. I looked around in a daze. Where was I? Just then, I remembered what happened last night and realised that today is the day of the reaping. My smile fell from my face but I put it back on, determined to stay strong for my family. 

I went inside the house to shower and change into my dress that will be passed down to my siblings once I outgrow it. I took off my clothes and got into the shower. (I know they are poor but I could not come up with something else so deal with what I'm writing) I let the warm water rush down my body. It was so relaxing. However, I knew that this was not a time to relax as I have to go to the courtyard (That's where the reaping will take place)  on time. Otherwise, the peacekeepers would kill me and my family. I hurried and showered quickly before wearing the beautiful new blue dress that my mother had bought for me. It was so nice and silky!

Soon, it was time to go to the courtyard. I nervously looked around in my bedroom before leaving since this might be the last time I will be in it. My family and I took a short walk to the courtyard where I had to register in. My father and my sibling left, but my mother lingered a while more to tell me good luck.
