Rue had a talent ever since she could walk, she could jump from one tree to another as if she was flying without anyone noticing. As soon as she was allowed to work on the farms, she was sent to work at the highest point of a hill or mountain because of that. She was also placed to work there since she could whistle very loudly and can warn the other farmers earlier if a natural disaster or storm is coming. She also knew a lot about farming and have heard tales about the Hunger Games from her relatives. One of her older sisters who is supposed to be 17 if she is alive had died in the Games. Rue was going to be of age to be part of the Hunger Games soon and is extremely scared but knows that at least she has a talent to hide in the trees and can travel by jumping from tree to tree, thus not allowing anyone to see her as she will be covered by the leaves of the tree.
