Chp 11 - Sisters and Siblings
Alli's POV
I wish I had one, Weston does have one. What is it?
No! It's not... Well, yeah, I guess an answer could be sister. But my answer is...
A sibling!
Either you're an only child (like me) or you have brothers or sisters or both or only one of the two choices! (Like Weston!)
Half of me is actually glad I don't have a sibling. Siblings, they steal your stuff, barge into your room, take your clothes, pull pranks on you.
The other half of me disagrees with my brain, thinking that a sibling could actually be useful. Like, if you get a younger or older brother, they could help you move out to college or with your new husband.
They have their own pros and cons.
Anyways...
I cruise out my door, down the stairs and into the kitchen to be greeted with the smell of pancakes, hash browns, and biscuits, still baking in the oven.
Wait. This doesn't happen on any day. It has to be a special day.
"Mom?" I ask with a raspy voice.
"Yes, dear." She says in her beautiful voice, never ceasing to be so everlasting gorgeous.
"What's the special occasion?" I say, my voice getting better by the word.
"It's a surprise!"
I smirk, thinking of who it could be from.
Well, my mom, dad, Weston...
Who knows?
"Hey mom, can I head over to Weston's?" I ask her, smiling like an idiot.
"Not right now, maybe later." Mom says, flipping a pancake and stirring the hash browns around.
That idiot smile vanished from my face in an instant.
"Why not?" I ask.
"You'll see." She replys, her eyes glued to the pancake in the pan.
I sigh and head up to my room.
What is the special occasion?
I text Weston, asking if he could come over.
A few seconds later, my phone buzzes in my hand.
I can't. Maybe I could ask my sister to come over, though.
Kaylyn wouldn't be that bad of company, would she?
Yeah, that would be great! I sent the text.
I shut off my phone, toss it on the bed and get a few things out that Kaylyn would possibly like to do. After all, I have spent some time with her when I am at Weston's house.
As I am getting my sketch pad, my phone goes off, muffled by the sheets of the bed.
I hop over, and smile.
It says, She'll be over in a second.
Another text pops up as I am about to turn off my phone.
❤ you angel
I scream mentally. Even though it doesn't seem like it now, since Weston and I are so close, he is still a YouNow star. I have done lots of things with a YouNow star.
My friends didn't believe me until I sent them a picture of Weston and I. Then I Facetimed them, and they were screaming when they Weston was at my side.
I laugh at that moment, looking through the screenshots I took on my phone during that call.
As I am looking at the photo of them screaming, I hear a knock at my door.
"Come on in!" I chirp, laughing afterwards.
"What's up?" Kaylyn asks me, plopping down beside me on my bed.
"Nothing much, just looking at screenshots of when I Facetimed my friends." I smile, looking up to her.
She laughs when I show her one of my friends screaming when Weston comes into the picture.
"It's a shame that you aren't famous like Weston." I mention, setting my phone down on my desk.
"Yeah, but I do enter his broadcasts a few times. Like, did you see the one where I came in and showed everyone the acapellas I had made?" She says, chuckling.
I laugh with her, "Then Weston shoved you out, saying, 'Okay, that's enough, you can go now.'"
We both laugh until we're at the verge of crying.
"Ohhhhh, good times, good times." I say, calming down.
"Ahhhhhhh..." Kaylyn sighs.
"I have some cards or a sketching pad if you want to do that." I suggest, pointing to the box of cards on my desk.
"Sure!"
As soon as she stands up, her phone buzzes from her pocket. She pulls it out to look at the text.
"Oh! It's Weston..." She says, looking over to me, "Did your mom say that you could go over there later?"
"Yeah, she did. She actually told me that an hour ago."
"Okay, we need to tell your mom that we are going to my house, okay?" She turns to me, putting her phone back in her pocket.
"Fine with me, but I need my phone." I say, grabbing my phone off the desk and into my pocket.
"C'mon, let's go!" Kaylyn says, pulling me by the hand down the stairs.
"Mom we're going to Weston's house!" I yell as Kaylyn and I near the door.
I hear a faint, "Okay!" As we shut the door and walk over to Kaylyn's house.
Before we walk off my porch, I notice that Tris is sitting on her porch, rocking on the rocking chair and knitting a scarf.
"Hi!" I wave as I go past.
She gives me a small wave and a warm smile, returning to her knitting afterwards.
We go to the porch and open the door.
It's dark, That's all I think when I enter through the door and close it behind me.
I look around, trying to adjust to the darkness. To my right, my eyes point out a bright white sign. It says, Follow the Arrows to your destination, don't forget to follow the directions as well!
My eyes adjust and I pick out the signs scattered around the rooms, like stars in the midnight sky.
This is no time for a metaphor! I scream at myself while reading a sign.
Proceed up the stairs.
I do as commanded and creep up the stairs.
Near the top, I spot yet another sign.
Go to the bathroom.
I willingly walk slowly to the bathroom. It's still dark. All the lights are out.
Once I get do the bathroom, a sign on the mirror tells me to go to Weston's room.
I obey.
As I creep up to his room, I start to wonder, why am I doing this?
I open the door and sigh.
The lights flip on.
"SURPRISE!" Weston's family screams.
I jump in terror for a second, then I just laugh.
"What is the special occasion, I am so confused." I ask, with a surprised yet puzzled look.
"Well, actually, we just wanted to be good neighbors and give you a quick little present or two." Weston's mom explains, handimg me 4 boxes, each a different color.
"Oh! Do the pink one first, that one's from me." Kaylyn says, pointing it out.
I set down the boxes on the floor and sit. I take the pink one and take the top off.
"Kaylyn, you know me so well!" I say, pulling out the book of Astronomy out of the box.
"Yeah, I do, don't I?" She laughs.
I hug it (NERD ALERT) and set it next to the opened box.
I look upon my choices. There is a blue one, a red one, and a green one.
"Which one is yours?" I ask Weston's mom, pointing my finger at all of the boxes.
"The green one." She replys, a smile on her face.
I take it and put it on my lap. I open it up, set the lid down and gasp.
It was a scarf that looked like it was knitted or braided.
"Omigosh. Wow! Where did you get this?!" I say, putting it on.
"I made it." She said, smiling even bigger.
"Well, I love it. Thank you!" I say, smiling like an idiot.
Man, I do that a lot.
I ask Weston which one his is and it's the red one. So I put it aside. I want to open it last.
I see Weston out of the corner of my eye breathe out heavily as if he were holding in a breath.
I open the blur one, which was obviously from his dad. Inside was a Gift Card to the Play Store. I think they know that I have an Android.
"Thanks!" I tell Weston's dad, smiling. I look down at how much money is on there.
My eyes were about ready to pop out of my skull.
"90 BUCKS?!" I scream.
But no one else heard it. Only I did.
Why must I scream to myself?!
"Wow." Is all I could say.
I hear chuckles around the room as I stare at the card. I set it back into the box and grab the last box.
The red one. Weston's gift.
I slowly open it. Knowing Weston, there could be a trap in there.
When light finally falls onto the object inside, I almost died.
They spent way to much money on me.
VIP tickets to Weston's next Meet and Greet. Wait, no. They aren't.
Weston must have seen my expression, because he comes over and pulls it out, explaining to me what it is.
"It's a badge that says you can be in stage with me and my pals."
"So that means..." I start, not believing how lucky I am.
"...I'm going on tour with you."
