Lisanna's Darkness

Chapter 3

Our rules were our standard: no killing, no favoritism from the crowd, (everyone broke that rule) no hurting anyone other than your opponent, and no more than one type of magic per mage.
"Ready, set, FIGHT!" They called as we took up battle stances.
I placed a hand on my waist and drew out Etoile, lengthening it. I heard my opponent chant, "Animal Takeover! Tiger!" My mind assessed the situation. I dodged her first slash, and countered by wrapping Etoile around her wrist. I tugged, and she flew over my shoulder and hit a wall behind me, leaving a major indentation. She charged and slashed again. I dodged, and her claw hit my shoulder instead of my face, splitting the flesh. I gasped and stumbled, but managed to whip Etoile around one of her back paws, and she did a backflip as I pulled it back. It would have been funny if Lisanna wasn't trying to kill me. Enraged, her aura turned dark, and I noticed something about her that I hadn't before: a trace of dark magic. Her hair turned black. It seemed like I activated it when I got her angry. Her eyes darkened to a deep red. (Yep im making up spells.) "Dark Shadow's Manipulation!" 'Dark magic? Shit.' I had to think before the privacy of my mind was violated, and everything went dark. But I didn't faint. I just couldn't see anything. Levy had read about shadow manipulation, but it was nothing like being a shadow dragon slayer. Shadow manipulators, she had explained, could control your mind's perception of your surroundings. But it was a Lost Magic. One of Zeref's. How did she learn it? Everything around me turned into my dream- my worst fear. Eventually, my mind gave me a haven from the blackness, and all fell into a merciful silence.
