It's Do or Die

I ran as fast as I could go, a little faster than my Mom. There was a group of them coming at us, their guns locked and ready to illuminate us from the world. I heard my Mom shriek; she had cut her leg open. "Mom!" I ran back to her-

"Hannah, go,"

"But..."

She looked over my shoulder, a large robot decked out in red and blue flames held out his hand for us to climb on.

"Come with me," He yelled over the gunfire.

"Take Hannah out of the city!" My mom yelled to him.

"But, what about you?" I didn't want to leave her.

"Honey, my time is done, go."

"But-"

"Just go!"

I nodded, and climbed into his hand. But the enemy caught up, and shot him in the shoulder. Then, my nightmare come true, one shot my Mom.

"Mom!"

She was gone, I couldn't change that. The robot flew up, I kept staring at the ground. After a while my eyes started to hurt, and I had to cram them shut. I felt tears down my cheeks. When I opened my eyes, I was looking at him. He didn't notice, he was focused on the airspace in front of him.

"Are you alright?" I asked, worried about the wound in his shoulder.

"I'm fine," He simply said.

He gently landed on his feet and set me on the ground, bending down to look at me a little better.

"I'm... sorry for your loss, Hannah." He said.

"Thank you," I said, taking a deep breath.

"You should find a way out of the city, for your own safety."

I nodded. "Um... I want to say, Tha-"

He got shot in the shoulder again, almost falling on top of me. "Go! Get out!" He yelled at me, returning fire.

I had no choice but to run from the city, crossing the limits and not stopping, not looking back. I was too scared to stop. I ran and didn't stop.

I ran as far as to the first gas station in the next state. I stopped to watch the news coverage on the TV. The same robot was standing there on the bridge, he threw his gun on the ground, he didn't have his flight gear. I figured he could take it off or put it on when he needed it.

" Chicago has suffered a massive invasion, the real question is, 'What is the future for our planet?'"

I wasn't paying attention. Two... um... people were flashing through my mind: My mom, and that robot. I didn't get the chance to thank him.

From then I vowed to find him...

Where ever the government will take them this time...
