Steven's POV

At lunch, I sit with my girlfriend; Shane. And when that quick lunch is over I head to all my classes after that. And after a dreadful number of hours after that, the day is finally over.

As I'm walking out I see, Cameron and Catherine. Their dating now. And I watch as he leads her over to a patch of trees.

Weird.

For some freaking reason I follow them. What the hell is wrong with me?

He takes her to a tree and immediately starts making out with her. Gross. Oh shut up, Steven, you've done much worse.

I just stand there about twenty feet back watching this ridiculousness.

She's laughing uncontrollably at something he said apparently, and since she's got her eyes squinted shut. She can't see him glaring at her.

What? Glaring? I blink a few times to make sure I'm right and sure enough, he staring daggers into her head.

Jeez. What a jerk.

He interrupts her laughter. "Babe," He says his voice coated in irritation. Holy cow. He's treating her like trash and she doesn't even know it. She looks shocked for a second, then hurt covers her face for a second. Hearing the irritation in his voice. "Babe," He repeats.

She looks sheepish. "Yes?" She says timidly. Holy...

"I'm sorry I'm getting snappy, I just failed a test today, and I'm not happy about it,"

She smiles and kisses his cheek. I can't believe she'd fall for that crap. "Ah, that's alright, we can study together," She teases him and he chuckles.

Wow. He can be very good at acting. And very bad at acting.

  "Anyway, why I took you out here," He says motioning around him. "Is because I wanted to ask you something," He says. And her whole face lights up. Poor her.

"Yes?" She basically squeals and I wince at the sound. I really feel bad.

I can't let this happen to her. Nope, I just won't. No matter how it makes me look I can't let him do this to her.

Use her.

"Will you, Catherine Odana, be my-"

I scoff disgustedly and Cat starts looking around; confused. Until she spots me.

"What the hell?" Cameron snaps at me. "You just interrupted a special moment,"

I roll my eyes at his terrible acting. Of course, Cat didn't know why I was rolling my eyes and got the wrong impression as hurt and confusion passed over her face. I apologized and she just nodded.

"What are you doing?" He repeats.

"What are you doing?" I counter.

Catherine just keeps looking between us; one to the next.

"I was as trying to ask Cat, if she wanted to be my girlfriend," He hisses at me and before I really know it where arguing throwing insults at each other like cats and dogs.

Until I notice that Cat looks like she's going to explode with anger. And she does. "What the hell is happening?" We back down because she's right. "Steven, really, what are you doing?" She asks me directly. Making me uncomfortable.

"I honestly don't know," I tell her.

She turns to Cameron. "Okay...Cam, can you give me and Steven a minute please?" He huffs a little but listens and leaves, going inside the school.

She turns back to me.

"Catherine, I'm sor-"

"It's fine," She brushes me off. "That question can be asked later, but talking to you can not," She says firmly. Warming up my chest. Huh?

"So..."

"Listen, Steven, there's something you should know-"

"Babe!" I hear Shane's voice squeal.

"Not now, Shane," I say angrily. And she stops cold and glares at Cat. What did she do? She listens and walks away and back into the building.

"As I was saying-"

"Babe!" I hear her again. "We need to ta-"

Catherine turns sharply towards her. "Say one more thing, see what happens," Cat hisses at her. And Shane pouts and walks away. I love this girl! She's a freaking beast! What the hell..?

"As I was saying, there's something you should know," Cat says slowly, just waiting for her to interrupt her once more. When she didn't she started to speak at her normal pace.

I nod for her to continue.

"I've- I've... liked you... for a while now," She says sheepishly. And she stares at the ground. Before I can answer she starts again. "Uh! I mean- um... nevermind, I didn't say that... okay?" She whispers the last part as tears fill her eyes and she turns and starts running.

I gape at her as she runs.

She actually said those words to me. The words I had been dying to hear. Forever. She said them.
