Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta
Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta

(Some contact is there with you
Some relation is there with you)

Kaise hum jaaneN hume kya pata
Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta

(How should I know, what do I know
Some contact is there with you)

As the last symphony of the song got lost into the thundering sound of claps, Omkara bowed with a smile.

It was the wedding of Kali Thakur, the richest man of Ballabgarh...a backward area of Rajasthan.

All well known personalities of the nearby towns were present, in the fourth wedding of this old businessman...

"Well done boy, you made me happy today with your voice!" (Badhiya tha Chhore, aaj tune hamein qush kardiya apni aawaz se!) Kali said giving a hefty tip to Omkara.

It seems luck was quite generous on Om today. Actually, a known artist, Phica Singh was to perform in the function. But at the last minute he got sore throat and this struggling singer got the chance on last minute to perform.

"Thank you Thakur Sahab. I wish you reach the up most heights of fame and recognition." (Shukriya Thakur Sahab. Main due karoonga ke aap izzat or shohrat ki sab se oonchi bulandiyon pe pahonchen!)

It was not the gratitude, but the crispy pink notes in his hands which were speaking, but the next moment his eyes collided with the brown orbs of the young bride, the sad eyes looking at him from behind the netted veil, beautiful and catchy enough to make any man forget the world.

As if there was some connection!!!

"Shaadi Mubarak ho, Thakurainji!" He bowed a little, congratulating the beautiful lady for wedding, who just nodded meekly in her heavy red bridal attire...

And a second later she raised her mehandi clad hands, the bangles and jewellery tinkling, as she removed her finger ring, holding it for him, between her shaking thumb and index finger!

Omkara hesitated, looking at the ring.

Whether he should take it or not?

"Take it young man! A reward from our Thakurain!" (Lele chhore! Hamari Thakurain ki taraf se inaam!) Kali drawled.

'Hell with Thakurain. Such a beautiful bud getting wasted for this 50 year old primate!' (Thakurain gayi tel lene. Itni qubsurat kali, is 50 sal ke langoor ke liye waste horahi hai!)

Omkara faked a smile taking the ring, as he nodded to the lady.

"It's enough, now move!" (Hogaya na, nikal ab!) Kallan, an aide of Kali turfed him out.

Om glared at Kallan for disturbance, leaving the hall, not before looking back at her once again, while she was led for the garland ceremony.

There was something in her eyes!

As if they had been asking him for something.

._._._.

The orphan Gauri was the happ-go-lucky person for the last 20 years of her life. But it changed, when her uncle passed away two months ago, and her aunt agreed for marriage without her consent.

Having no other option, she had to sell her wishes away.

But seems there was more on stake. As she came to know that Kali was a psychopath man, who had kept his earlier wives like slaves, tied in closed rooms for all their lives.

Why so?

Kali wasn't interested in women, but he needed a wife and heir to keep his social image, scared of disclosing his sexual orientation to the world.

But instead of accepting his preference he was torturing the women here!!!

There were also rumours that he had made his wives sleep with random men in order to impregnate them ....but when his reputation was at stake, he killed them stealthily and barbarically.

When Gauri had learnt it a few minutes ago, she had felt the ground slip beneath her feet.

To die was better than to marry him!

Did she have any chance to run away when there was less than one hour left for marriage?

She needed to try!!!

And hence when she had seen this handsome singer, somewhere there was a feeling that he would save her...his soulful eyes having the untold trust in them to make her believe it.

Hence she had handed him her ring, in which the SOS message was hidden.

._._._.

"Please save me! I don't want this marriage!" (Meharbani karke hamein bacha lijiye! Hum ye shadi nahi karna chahte!)

The small chit, hidden in the big gold ring, read.

So the bride didn't want to get married and wanted him to save her, before the rituals start.

"Just half an hour left for marriage and she wanted to run away!" (Sirf aadha ghanta bacha hai shadi me, aur isko ab bhagna hai!)

Foolish girl! Couldn't she decide the same earlier?

But the question was whether he would save her or not?

"Only a fool will dare to do this stupidity!" (Sirf ek bewaqoof his aisi stupidity karne ki himmat karega!)

She was the would-be-bride of Kali Thakur. Whole city was here!

Omkara Singh was not some brainless imbecile to get messed up with such a big man, and that too for a stranger girl.

But that Kismat connection!!!

"Oh please! All this happens only in novels and movies! I am not fond of becoming a hero...." (Oh please! Ye sab na sirf novels aur movies me hi hota hai! Mujhe hero banne ka koi shauq nahi hai....)

He did the self-talk, throwing away the chit by ripping it in tiny tiny parts.

._._._.

Gauri was anxiously hiding in washroom...escaping the wedding rituals, by making excuse of touch up.

But till when?

What if that long-haired man didn't get the chit!

Or worse....what if he didn't want to help her and instead informed Kali!

'Shankarji! Please do some miracle!' (Shankarji! Koi Chamatkar kardijiye please!)

That's when the light went off, drawing darkness everywhere.

Gauri fumbled towards the door, peeping out of it, to find the whole hall lightless and murky. A few mobile torches were on but they weren't bright enough to get her located.

'Is it the plan to make me run away?' (Kahin ye mansooba, hamein bhagane ke liye to nahi?)

Gauri thought, her pupils adjusting to the darkness.

Finding the lobby empty, she quickly ran towards the exit, fooling Kali's men who were more concerned about the sudden loss of electricity, in spite of all the arrangements!!!

._._._.

Omkara lit his cigarette outside the wedding hall, leaning on his bike. His guitar hanging on his back, he was in dark blue body-hugging leather jacket, over a white t-shirt and black leather pants. Hair partially held back in pony, he had goggles on his face, as he puffed out the smoke.

Ok ok! He didn't want to get in that mess of helping girl but damn those eyes which had been haunting him.

And in spite of riding away for one or two kms he returned, switched off the electricity connection, cut the main wire wire through his pocket knife, and thus doomed the hall without light.

"I tried my best. Now it is her presence of mind whether to use the chance or not!" (Main jo karsakta tha maine voh kardiya. Ab ye uski aqalmandi hai ke vo is chance ko use karti hai ya nahi!)
He shrugged.

'I needed to be out of the premises soon, lest Kali's men get doubt on me.'

With the same thought, he wore his helmet, rode the two-wheeler, and ignited the bike on, but before he could accelerate away, he felt a presence behind her, keeping a soft palm on his shoulder.

"Comeon fast, let's go!" (Haan chalo jaldi, hamein chalna chahiye!)

Came the sweet melodious voice of the lady!!!

He craned his neck backward, only to find the same veiled bride, her brown eyes faintly visible to stare at him. While very conveniently, she had occupied the rear seat of his bike, clutching him tight for support...connecting their bodies.

As if they had a connection between souls

He shook his head to clear his mind of this 'as if connections theory'!

"Oh hello....get down now!" (Oh hello....neeche utro abhi!) Omkara shouted with that unbelievable expressions.

He had helped her for the sake of humanity. Now he won't help her escaping.... and invite the wrath of Kali Thakur.

"Why?" (Kyun?)
Gauri asked, though not budging even an inch from the seat.

"What why? Now help yourself madam! Don't involve me in your problem!" (Kya kyun? Abhi apni madad aap karo mahotarma! Mujhe apni pareshani me mat involve karo!) Omkara frowned, talking through his helmet.

"Are bhaisaab don't do this! Please help this needy sister of yours!" (Are Bhaisaab, aise mat kijiye! Please apni is zarooratmand behen ki madad kijiye!)
Gauri pleaded, but seemed the plan backfired as Om just removed his helmet, now craning his head furiously towards her.

"Are you insane or what? Do I look like a Bhaisaab to you? And I have a sister....No need of you!" (Tum pagal ho kya? Main kya ek Bhaisaab ki tarah lagta hun tumhein? Aur meri ek behen already hai...tumhari koi zaroorat nahi!)

It hurts man, when beautiful sexy girls call you Bhaisaab!

"Uh...then like a gentleman, please help me. Just drop me to the bus station!" (Uh...to phir ek shareef insaan ki tarah, hamari madad kijiye please. Hamein zara bus station tak chhod dijiye!)
Gauri blinked her puppy eyes, making him sigh.

As if he had always been her Knight in shining armor.

Urghhhh...

._._._.

The dark abandoned bus stand of this backward village. It was just a large freaking stone, had been used by travellers to wait for the buses. To add to her misery, it was close to ten at night with no hope that she would get a bus!

"Seems the last 9 o'clock also went away!" (Lagta hai aakhiri 9 baje wali bus bhi nikal gayi!)

Gauri mumbled as he stopped the bike near the so called bus stop, and she came down unwillingly.

'Will he really leave me all alone here?' (Kya ye hamein sach me yahan akele chhod kar chale jayenge?)

Gauri had expected he would take her along, seeing her vulnerability.

But Omkara feigned ignorance, avoiding to even look at her for once.

Otherwise those intense brown eyes would again affect him. And to take her along means, to ask for death....The last thing he wished for!!!

Sensing that she had stood to his right side, Om took a deep breath, changing the gear before speeding up one the lonely road ahead.

"Don'tLookBehind!Don'tLookBehind! Don'tLookBehind!" (PeecheMatDekh! PeecheMatDekh! PeecheMatDekh!)

Damn! He anyways looked in the rear mirror! Only to find her sitting all alone on the stone, making his heart tug.

But he didn't stop, his bike speeding up ahead, leaving her all alone.

._._._.

After an hour:

"Have you sold your common sense? Did you have any idea what that truck driver could do with you if you had boarded his vehicle all alone? At least use your brain, before asking lift from such shady men...and he was drunk too!" (Aqal kya bech di hai tumne? Koi idea bhi hai, ke vo truck driver tumhare saath kya karsakta tha agar tum aise akele uske truck me sawar hojati? Kam se kam apna dimagh to istemal karliya karo, aise logon se lift lene se pehle...aur vo badmaash to nashe me bhi tha!)

Bastard was eying her so lewdly!!! Of course the jewellery and then her inviting body attracting him.

Gauri looked away, taking all his scolding silently, since last fifteen minutes.

Wiping her face beneath the red veil, she was clutching him tightly on his stomach to not slip from this flying bike.

After leaving her all alone for almost an hour, Omkara Singh had magically returned, taking a U turn second time in the night, just when she was talking to that truck driver to get lift to the city.

How freaking stupid of her!!!!

But Om had handled the situation, scurried the man off, saying that he was Gauri's husband...and they would go away on their own.

"What if he had not listened to me and would have taken you forcefully with him, what would you have done?" (Aur agar vo driver meri baat nahi manta to, aur tumhen zabardasti apne saath lejata to, kya karleti tum?) Omkara continued making Gauri pout.

Well, for her, both Om and that driver were strangers!!!

But it was also true that with Om she felt a connection as if....as if....

She just felt safe with him!!!

"Then why did you leave me alone there?" (Aap hamein aise akele kyun chhod gaye phir?)

She finally mumbled tired of his cribbing, "Kali's men might be finding me....I couldn't stay there to get caught. Hence I was trying to escape....!" (Kali ke aadmi hamein dhoond rahe honge....hum vahan khood ko pakadwane ke liye to ruk nahi sakte the. Isiliye hum vahan se nikalne ki koshish kar rahe the....!)

She stopped, feeling emotional out of sudden, her eyes welling up, while she could feel Om's body going stiff all of a sudden under her palm...

Probably listening to her!!!

She wiped her tears when she saw Om turning to left.

"I am dropping you to railway station...where do you want to go?" (Main tumhein railway station chhod raha hoon....kahan jana chahti ho tum?)

His cold voice hit her hears, while she frowned, as he stopped his bike, removing his helmet.

He couldn't take her to his home, could he?

"I have....no one!" (Hamara....koi nahi hai!) She was an orphan and didn't know anyone else outside Ballabgadh.

Listening to her, Omkara clenched his jaw, as he parked the bike at a safe place.

Looking around for any presence he held her palm, entering the large but sparsely populated railway station. Except one or two passengers or sweepers, there was none here.

"I just want to go far away....from that monster!" (Hum bas us Rakshas se....bahot door jana chahte hain!)

She added as he stood near the display board to see the details of trains.

Only if she knew that the world is full of nothing but monsters ready to use her for their selfish motives.

Omkara thought.

"Then, go to Delhi! There is a train for there to depart in next ten minutes!" (To phir Delhi chali jana! Agle das minute me ek train nikalne wali hai vahan ke liye.)
He mumbled, again taking her soft palm in his large rough one, dragging her along.

The two walked together....like the run-away couple....towards the desired train.

Hopping on the needed coach he made her move ahead, while Gauri was surprised that he got a ticket so soon and that too for AC class one!!!

"This compartment....am I alone here!" (Is compartment me...hum akele hain!)
Gauri asked him as he opened the door where there were two sleeper seats.

Om was not meeting eyes with her.

"Yeah....you'll be sss...safe here!" (Haan....tum yahan sss....safe rahogi!)
He stuttered as he switched on the lights, "I'll bring some water. Get seated!" (Main paani lekar aata hun. Tum baitho!)

He changed the topic while she nodded, making him more guilty, as he saw her eyes through the net, with trust in them.

After ten minutes:

Gauri was lost thinking about all that was happening with her.

World is so strange with different people. There were devils like Kali and also angels like that long haired man.

But where was he?

He had gone to fetch water bottles but didn't return yet. She looked outside the window only for her heart skipping a beat.

Damn! Kallan was there along with other men strolling on platform! They might have been looking for her....

And the idea made her shook with fear....as she looked with wide eyes. One of the men coming towards her coach...as she took quick breaths, standing up from her seat, not knowing what to do.

"Gauri....shut down the windows!" (Gauri....khidkiyan band kardo!)

Omkara had just reached, closing the door of compartment behind him, as he jumped ahead closing the glass shields, while Gauri was all blank.

"They....they didn't see me right!" (Unhon....unhon ne hamein nahi dekha haina!)

She was so scared being all alone.

And when she found him looking at her, with guilt-filled eyes, she frowned.

"Gauri..woh!"

He was going to say something but on an impulse she just hugged him, clutching him tight, and he was caught off guard.

They could hear the train whistling in background.

"Please don't leave me alone here!" (Hamein aise chhod kar mat jaiye na!) Her muffled voice ripped him apart more and more, while he sighed, making her raise her face from his chest.

"This can't happen Gauri....I....I'll have to go!" (Ye nahi hosakta Gauri....mujhe...mujhe jana hi hoga!)

He pushed her away, with clenched his jaw, cursing himself for getting emotional.

No, he couldn't get swayed by her. He had already promised Kali now!!!

He moved a hand through his mane, taking furious steps to get away from here.

Why did he even return? He had already made excuse of water bottle....to get away with the money Kali gave him.

But then his treacherous heart wanted to see her once!!!! And like a fool he came towards her...

"Please!" She spoke again, in her sweet pleading voice, unaware of his real face...as she tugged his wrist, stopping him from going away, showing the trust which she might have never shown to anyone else but him.

Omkara went more uneasy as the time tickled, as they waited in silence, neither of them moving, nor speaking another word. Him with a back towards her, while she holding his hand.

Finally Om turned towards her, trying to make her understand, and she raised her hand towards the head, lifting her veil slowly...her face coming in his sight.

The face which once, he also wanted to see but not anymore. He was too guilty to look into her eyes.

And she did...removed the veil.... making his breath hitched with the incredible beauty facing him.

The brown orbs as deep as ocean, lined with kohl and the long lashes like the peacock feathers, under the shade of which, any man would like to spend his life.

The red lips painted in red as if filled with juicy nectar and a small straight nose on her bright oval face, where a big ring was hung, making her look more alluring.

She was a Nymph....no.... a Jailbait, or a Lolita!!!

The connection seemed more strong as he saw the beauteous, gorgeous, sheen bride blinking towards him...

Wasn't it how he had been fantasising his wedding night? His bride....

While she could also see his handsome features more clearly now, the intense black eyes glued to hers, his sinfully shaped lips parted.... for an unknown reason, a sharp aristocratic nose and the open mane...

Just like she had thought her Prince Charming would be!!!!

But was he really a Prince Charming? Or a Devil in Disguise!!!!

They came to senses with a jerk of the train as its stillness broke, the brakes being removed and it was moving ahead.

And the two strangers bound with an unknown attraction were in a deep dilemma!!!

F**k that Kali!!! He could hide it anymore!!!

"Gauri, I am not what you are thinking I am.... !" (Main vo nahi hun jaisa tum soch rahi ho Gauri....!)

Omkara spoke biting his each word....."I have tricked you!" (Main ne tumhein phansaya hai!)

He blurted out making Gauri frown, as he let his wrist slip from her hands....

"What do you mean!" (Kya matlab hai aap ka!)

She asked with baited breath... dreading the answer, which he was too embarrassed to give.

But it was too late! Too late for any redemption or amendment from him as they heard the door of compartment opening up behind them, only to find Kali and his men there, obstructing their way with sinister smirks.

"Well done my tiger!!! Finally you caught the bird!!!!" (Kya baat hai mere shera! Aakhir chiraiyya ko phaans hi liya na!!!!)
