Chapter 8: are gone

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

     Loki's POV

I glared at the object with absolute fear. It was a desk, filled chocked full of pictures of me with people I never knew. There were so many people, but my eyes seemed to just stay locked on me. I don't even know how they got all of this in the first place, how was it even physically possible to get this? I don't remember any of this, the place, the people. I feel like I'm going insane.

"L-Loki?" I heard Aubra call from outside the room. "I-Is everything okay?"

"Yes, I...I just need some time alone. For now, tell everyone they should check their own rooms...there could be something similar to what I just found..." I replied to the Absol as I could hear her walk away from the room. I then perceived her high pitched voice mumble to the others about something, presumably what I just tasked her. I shook my head in disbelief, and pull one of the cabinets open and sliding all the photos inside. I slammed it shut. I didn't want my mind to be stuck on it any further, it was time to just let go of it.

I took a very deep breath and explored the rest of the room. I took it all with a grain of salt, knowing how Sammy...or "Sam" could not possibly provide us with every single thing possible. But, for some very odd reason, it looked quite weird. For one, there are these weirdly shaped objects Sammy had not told us about yet, so it was time to ask some questions.

"Sammy?" I called out as loud as possible, and it only took a few seconds until...

"Yes?" I jumped at the sound of the Braixen's voice. For some very odd reason, she was already in the room, glaring at me from behind.

"How the hell did you even get here?" I questioned out loud as she glared directly at me.

"You had a question...right?" Sammy replied, and it seemed like the very first time I heard her say something in a threatening manner, I guess she's busy. Well, for being the "mastermind" of all of this, I'd imagine she is already working on something to hurt all of us mentally. Then again, she'll probably bring up the fact that "Sam' did it. Maybe they aren't the same person? Maybe they are just two separate Braixen. I have absolutely no clue, but something tells me we're going to figure it out soon.

"What is...all of this?" I turned back around and glared at all the objects I did not know.

"That is a bed," she pointed to what seemed like a huge plate of wool. It looked quite

comfortable. "You sleep on that. I apologize, though, I did not have enough time to explain every little thing in this place. Also, those machines over there are coffee machines, just put some water and that power over there and you'll be energized in the morning. More importantly, this is your room, so you should have your own room key to be able to lock and unlock the door." She continued on. I've never been able to hear "Sammy" speak for so long, it felt kind of weird.

"There is your room key," she levitated an odd looking object infront of me as I clutched it out of her psychic grip. "Just insert it to the keyhole and turn left to unlock, and to lock, just turn it right. Any more questions?" Sammy seemed very impatient at this point, so I did not want to bother her anymore.

"No, thank you," I replied as she phased out of existence. "Wow," I could only say to myself as the Braixen had completely disappeared. It was kind of scary how she could just listen and possibly see everything we do and teleport to us by her will. I kind of felt...I felt like I had no power to even defeat her? It's not like I would try to kill her, that's not me at all, It's just...If it were for all our lives, and to be able to escape out of here, I most likely would. But, I would not like to risk Sammy and Sam being two different Braixens, because if that were true, Sammy is completely innocent.

I yawned, glaring at the bed hopefully. I smiled, for once in a very long time. I jumped onto the bed, planting gracefully on the wool. It felt so great, and I finally got to sleep in something more comfortable than a sleeping bag. My face dug into the pillows as I began thinking. I couldn't help but glare at what had happened today. Vince's corpse, and Lancer death. Those pictures were glued to my brain for what felt like too long. I wanted it to go away, but I suppose I cannot do that. If I were to escape, I would like to remember them and think about what they helped us do. Surely, Lancer did something than pester us. He gave us a warning that all of this was real, and that we should all take it seriously. Starting tomorrow, I will make it my whole effort to make sure another murder does not happen. If it takes my life to do it, then so be it. We will all survive and escape here as soon as possible.

     I know we will.

Bliss, absolute silence. It's like I was never existing in the world in the first place. Everyone, everything is absolutely quiet. Nothing but the constant exhaling of my breath, and my fur frizzled into the sheets, It was all perfect. But nothing good lasts very long. I heard something in my room. It was very faint, like footsteps. And then...I heard...

     *DING DONG*

The sound jumped me awake, but it seemed like it was something from my brain. I glared around my room for a brief second and planted my head on the bed once more.

     *DING DONG*

The sound again, and I'm sure it came from the door. I'm not sure how it was made, but it does really have a similarity to the sound played when Sammy makes an announcement. I ignored it once more.

     *DING DONG, DING DONG*

Okay, well. I'm absolutely sick of it now. Hastily, I arose from my bed and pulled the door open. Two, rather large shadowy figures loomed over me, and then my eyes adjusted.

"Loki? We need your assistance," a deep and concerned voice questioned as I turned to it. It was Leon, right next to what seemed to be Alice.

"Yes, please come as quickly as you can," Alice continued as they both turned around and began walking. Almost with a snail's pace, I followed behind them as they lead me to a window. I find it quite odd how last time I saw the wall, these windows were not here. If they were here, then when the lights went out, it shouldn't have been dark at all. I stopped and blankly stared through it. It was almost like I immediately knew what was going on, and my eyes locked to two Pokemon. It was Gruta, right next to Talus. They were sitting down while Talus was still flushing tears, I could see it from this far. Gruta seemed to be trying to help him in some way because he had a warm smiled attached to his face. It's like nothing could change Gruta's emotions.

"What do you want me to see here?" I questioned as Leon replied.

"Well, It's quite suspicious that Gruta had asked Talus to meet up with him outside, right? Just in case anything happens, I would like all of us to be witnesses,"

I mean, it seemed like there was nothing wrong with it, but I never liked to spy on people. Seemingly right on time, I saw Gruta hand something over to Talus, it looked like something yellow.

"Now why would he give him a yellow paper? That seems odd," Alice whispered to herself as I nodded. Suddenly, Gruta stood up and headed in the direction we were in.

"Shit," Leon whispered to himself as every single one of us booked it to our rooms. Leon ran upstairs and Alice dashed to the room next to me. I clutched my key and leaped inside my room, softly - but quickly closing the door and locking it as quickly as possible.

I didn't know why but...I was panting. It's almost like I've never felt adrenaline before, but yet I'm feeling it for the first time. Even if I did feel adrenaline, I would've never remembered. It's not like I can just randomly remember everything that has happened in my past. We all don't remember anything. None of us remember our Moves, we don't remember our Abilities. I don't feel like a Pokemon anymore...

So If I don't feel like a Pokemon...is this what being a human feels like?

"I...don't feel like thinking about it anymore, I surely can't escape it, but...I just don't want to think about it," I whispered to myself, as my shaky tone surprised even me...

Stumbling my way over to my bed, I let myself fall onto the cotton sheets as I wrapped myself around them. Finally, it was completely quiet. No interruptions, no random noises.

     But I can't prevent nightmares, can I?

     Inu's POV

     The area felt dim

     And then I saw you

     You were my greatest friend

     I did everything for you

I helped you with everything you needed

And now you're gone...but are you really?

     Because someone here looks familiar...

     And that's...

"INU!" A very loud voice called out to me, a very annoying voice. I rolled over to the other side of the bed.

"Please get up, you left your door unlocked by the way, don't you have your key?" The voice called out to me once more, I flipped over once more.

"Grace, I really need you to leave right now," I spoke to the Eevee she shook her head.

"I'm not leaving until you pick yourself up! You're the very last one to wake up, and you're right infront of Laker for that title," she persisted as I groaned louder.

"Let me guess, you're the first one to wake up?" I barely spoke through the covers as she hummed.

"Hmm, no! It was actually Leon," she cheerfully spoke out to me as if I were going to be surprised. I only turned over once again.

"Come on, Inu! We have a big day ahead of us! Don't make me use a move!" Grace threatened as I groaned.

"Fine, I don't care what move you have, just don't waste your energy on me," I huffed out as I flung myself off the pillows, and trudged my way outside. I shielded my eyes from the blinding light but was greeted by a very happy Weavile.

"Good day, ain't it?" Laker spoke out to me as I sighed at the sound of his voice.

"I don't need your unusually happy voice right now, Laker," I left him with that comment and immediately began walking elsewhere with Grace by my side. Grace seemed to be the first Pokemon in this rotten place I could actually trust, so we usually are hanging out or talking somewhere or sometime.

"G-Good mo-morning," I heard Loki mindlessly talk from in front of me, I only waved and smiled. Possibly at the sight of my wave, she flinched, which seemed very suspicious. I wonder what happened to her...

I couldn't even think, as the strong scent of coffee filled my nostrils. My head shifted in the direction of the smell in the kitchen, and I saw Gruta and Leon having a small chat. I glared at the two cups they were clutching, and that seemed to be the smell.

"What the hell is that?" I commented as the Eevee next to me hissed.

"No cursing!" Grace called from beside me as I flinched.

"O-Oh, I'm sorry. Anyway, what is that in your cup? It smells very strong, like coffee..." I commented once again with a correction as Leon politely smiled.

"Well, that's because it is coffee. However, it's black coffee, I'm not sure a lot of people like that type of coffee," Leon politely stated as he slurped the black-ish liquid from the cup as Gruta began to lift his.

"Gruta like his beige, so he likes his with lots of milk and sugar!" Gruta spoke and glared at the cup - almost like he was proud.

"U-Uhm, I don't think sugar is too healthy to put lots of it in coffee..." Grace stammered as she glared up to the Lucario. He only smiled down to the Eevee.

"Yeah, but it's really what a lot of people put in coffee, but what do I know...I don't drink it that way," he glared back down to his cup and sipped from it again. I sighed before turning around and walking away. I made my way to the stairs, an area that I've never really been to, so I decided to look. I saw Alice, Rayne, and Kanom chatting about whatever near the stairway.

"Well look who it is!" Kanom called out to me as he made his way over to me. "Did you find anything weird in your room as we did?" He questioned me as I nodded.

"I did, but I don't want to talk about it, and I'm sure everyone else won't talk about it either," I huffed out as Grace caught up to me and had climbed the stairs.

"Well, I'm not afraid of anything! I found a knife!" I couldn't conceive the words he was saying, is he crazy!?

"Are you fucking serious?" I yelled out in disgust as Grace did not say anything, it seemed like she was in shock too...

"Yeah, there is a knife in his room. He told us this morning," Rayne spoke out to me as I now held a confused glare.

"But why would they do that? Is Sam playing tricks on us or something?" I spoke to myself as the Ninetales grew closer to me.

"Well, it is indeed obvious that this is Sam's work - for you at least. I believe Sam and Sammy are the same people, It's just a way for her to make us do this without pity," Alice murmured as a sudden voice reverberated from behind us.

"D-Don't...sh-she's always listening..." Loki whispered to us with eyes of horror. I felt bad. Something must have happened, something! No one can hurt Loki like this...

Rayne's eyes locked on the first floor, and I turned my head to look. And there she was, Sammy, just glaring directly at the Manectric.

"You tell them how it works," I heard Rayne whisper to Alice as she jumped above the railing and disappeared in the first floor, presumably to talk to Sammy.

Alice sat down on all fours and glaring directly into my eyes.

"Sam, or Sammy...she cannot monitor and talk to us at the same time. Whenever she is not present, she uses psychic energy to listen and monitor everyone, however when she is inside the building she cannot do so. Just stay out of her view when she is in person and you'll be fine," Alice spoke directly to me with a firm tone and expression. I nodded, it was really all I could do. With this knowledge, I felt a little more comfortable, and so did Loki by her expression when I was heading down the stairs. I kept all of this in mind and headed to somewhere else - where to? I don't know, I needed to think of a plan with this, somewhere quiet. I left the room and headed outside.

"What can I do?" I began to think as I sat on the ground. Now that I noticed, there was no wind in this area. It was oddly perfect in temperature, almost like room temperature. It felt like I was not supposed to be here at all. This isn't the outside, this didn't feel warm, this didn't feel cold. The more I think about it, the more I feel as if I'm not even on earth anymore.

     I can't think.

     I can't breathe.

     ???'s POV

The lifeless figure stood before me. I glared at it.

It was hanging, on what? It seemed to be nothing. It was floating, but it seemed to be not living at all.

     Then what was it?

     Something that cannot be attached.

     I can't think of anything.

     Can you think of anything?

The person hearing me? I know you're out there.

-=-=-

Trust me, you can trust me.

     Everything else is just lies.

     Everyone else is misunderstanding me.

Stop it! I can't hear it anymore, you don't have to keep saying it!

Do you think you can just torture me this way?

I believe not, you wouldn't dare to not trust me.

     Because I'm your only friend!

     Your greatest friend!

     I can't let her go

If I do...I don't know what will happen...

I'm so useless...why did I even rely on her?
