Chapter 5: The First Blood

     Inu's POV

I was terrified, I didn't know what may lay upon that door. My heart sunk as the door slammed open, revealing Sam. I didn't believe she had an alter-ego, I believed it was all a little way for her to deal with all the horrible things she was doing. Rayne the Manectric was the first one to dash outside in spite of Sam glaring creepily at the crowd, and once she did, I saw her face change from determined to depressed in a second.

I finally focused my vision on the outside behind Sam, a large cage, blocking the whole area...

It's almost like my heart stopped working, and someone winded me out of breath. Sam kept glaring at everyone, before stating some words.

"You shall meet at the fountain for the trail to start, anyone who does not participate in the trail will immediately be killed with no excuse. Please make it there by the next hour," Sam commanded as she phased out of existence. It was strange how a regular looking Braixen could just phase and teleport like that, but we all played it off as normal. We played everything in the place normal, no matter what strange thing we encounter we play it off like we're in a different world.

Loki was the first one to begin walking to Rayne to comfort her, and for the first time, I saw Rayne look scared.

"I...don't know how. How did they do this?" Rayne sobbed into Loki's arms. It is really weird to see one of the toughest people we have in the mansion just start sobbing. But it was understandable, there was really no way out at all. The huge iron cage had some gaps to let sunlight shine through, but they were replaced with possibly tough glass so it was physically impossible to break through.

Everyone glared at the wall in horror, almost like their dreams of escaping were now totally blocked by just large pieces of iron and glass.

"What the hell..." I could only mutter under my breath as everyone began wandering around the campus. It was actually surprisingly neat. The outdoor seemed like a nice little field with multiple building aligned in a straight line. I wandered my way over to one and glared at the sign titled "Goods". I curiously peaked as I shoved aside the sign, glaring on the other side of the counter. It seemed to be a bunch of vegetables, almost like it was meant to be used for eating. Did they want us to permanently stay here?

I turned around to take a look at the large Mansion, and it seemed larger from the outside than it did from the inside. There was something off though...

It was a garage door, and it seemed like it was able to be opened. So I paced my way over there and clicked on a red button, and luckily, it slowly rose open. I took a look inside, just to see...

A large bottle the size of a testing tube labeled "Sleep Power" just stood there. There was almost nothing else in the room other than cardboard boxes, but as I looked closer on one of the boxes...a bloody knife.

Now it all made sense, where the missing knife was located at, and where that green powder came from. I smirked, I couldn't help but smirk at the situation. I found out very important info, and now I'm glad I did because this case was going to be easier than I thought...

     Sherwood's POV

I carefully looked around the area after comforting most of the people that were stuck staring at the iron cage. We really were stuck here, but at this point, I was accustomed.

I ignored the other building and headed straight to the fountain. An unsettling looking statue of a Braixen just stood there, their arms posing on their hips. The statue was smiling, and it felt like it was glaring at me...

"Well...I'm scared to do this trial..." I heard Lancer speak from behind me.

"Hm? Why?" I muttered out in confusion as the Midnight Lycanroc frowned at the statue.

"Oh...nothing...I just feel like you guys don't have enough info..." Lancer murmured as he grew more suspicious for each word he spoke.

"What do ya mean by 'we'? We are together in this, right?" I turned to him as he stammered at my question.

"R-Right, I just, can't speak well right now," the Lycanroc huffed out as everyone slowly gathered at the fountain. We all stood confused for a few seconds as Leon began inspecting the statue. The brat he is, the Lucario avoided the water and began tapping at the statue. The ground rumbled as the statue began moving. Its smile grew more twisted as the floor beneath her opened, and she was thrown down. The floor once again rose with a dull red pattern, and Grace was the first one to step on the floor, causing the pattern to shine brighter. I climbed on, and in just a few seconds, everyone managed to fit. The floor seemed large enough to fit more of us, but we didn't care about that at the moment.

The ground rumbled once more as the pattern was almost blinding in light, but soon that light was going to leave. The ground shook as most of us lost balance, before we were sent falling into the abyss. It's like someone began to cover the sunlight above, because it turned pitch black the more we fell. If we don't land soon, we can die...

The speed at which we fell at began gradually lowering before we stopped. A piece of the wall shoved open as a light source was given, and it seemed to be a courtroom...

Sam was propped up on a very large and unnecessary chair, but nonetheless, she spoke with her evil glare in confidence.

"Now, take a seat where your name is written," she spoke out as we all were confused. I wandered around with everyone else as I found myself glaring at a small piece of paper labeled "Sherwood". I stood on the small podium in sync with everyone else. The Braixen began speaking once more.

"You are not allowed to leave your podium once the trial has started, let me explain the rules first," she spoke before shifting her position on the chair, a more confident position. "This trail is supposed to practically continue your investigation, and with the information you have collected, you shall argue which one do you think killed Vince the Greninja. It's quite funny how I barely explained the rules and someone began killing already! Hehe, looks like we have a killer among us. Someone in those podiums killed Vince!" Sam cackled in a way that made us all uncomfortable. However, she was right. One of us killed him, and I'm going to do my absolute best to find that person.

"The rules are simple, you can debate for as long as you want, but don't take too long! As soon as you are all ready to vote, a small pad will form out of your podium and you all will be given an option to who you think is the killer, so at the point, you may choose,"

"And if you get it wrong, you will all die...the killer will leave scot-free!" Sam cackled devilishly as we turned to each other. We all had the same reaction, confidence. It was a reaction I liked seeing but I felt like it was going to go away soon.

A wide silence separated us before Galant began speaking.

"Well, let's confirm the obvious. Vince died while we were sleeping, right next to his sleeping bag," the Gallade promptly stated after the silence, this cause everyone to finally begin speaking.

"He had two stab wounds, a wide cut on his arm, and a very deep and thin cut on his back. Because these cuts are so thin, they have to be caused by the two missing knives. They are also small, so that's another thing," Rayne followed up as the Gallade nodded at her statement. After that, Inu began speaking.

"We all found the same powder on Grace that Vince had on his face too, remember? I feel like we should address how she also knew it was from the garage," Inu called out as Lancer began speaking.

"Wow, you didn't swear in that sentence? That's a new one," the midnight Lycanroc snickered as the Infernape blurted out.

"Shut it, fuckface!" Inu yelled out as Loki groaned.

"Can we all stop fighting and actually reach a conclusion as fast as possible?" Loki huffed out as Leon shook his head.

"We rush it now, we may do a false accusation and die, so we have to make sure the person we are blaming is actually the murderer," the Lucario glared at the Zoroark before gesturing to the Eevee.

"Grace, how did you know the bottle was located in the garage? I don't remember exploring a place like that in the building," he spoke out as the nervous Eevee gulped.

"I'm going to be honest, I went out exploring a little while you all were talking in the living room. I just felt like leaving so I searched for ways out," Grace spoke out before Gruta conversed back.

"So, Grace went alone? But that dangerous!" The soft-hearted Machamp called out as I began to speak out.

"That's kinda understandable, but that doesn't explain how she managed to get the powder on her face, she slept quite far away from Vince when we were all grouped up n' the room," I murmured out as we all turned to Grace. The podium beneath her rumbled as she was levitated to the middle.

"Wh-Wha? What's happening?" Grace stammered as her head shifted in direction multiple times.

"You are being accused. If you are accused, you will be moved to the center of attention so people may provide evidence as to why you could be the killer. This is the point where you say why are you not the killer you dumb brat!" Sam spoke from her chair as the Eevee's ears curled down in absolute fear. I can tell she was not comfortable to what was going on, but if she truly was the killer, then she deserves this...

Whoever really is the killer, I will find them before Sam can, and I will crush their neck into bits. I cannot forgive who did this, they started the killing game, so we will all have to end it, somehow...
