Chapter 20: Ugly Truth

     THIRD PERSON

"Leon! What on earth happened?" Sammy exclaimed, both of her paws directly cupped against the dazed Lucario's cheeks.

"I...saw everything--everyone," Leon panted softly, his eyes closing once more to rest from the mental trauma he was undergoing.

"What do you mean by that? You mean you saw your...memories or something?" The Braixen tilted her head, taking her paws away from the Lucario's face, "what did you see?" She echoed.

"My family...I remember now. That card that Sam gave me--the one that said my parents abandoned me. It was so terribly false, they sacrificed their life for me," Leon shook his head, opening his eyes to reveal a slightly more determined expression, "and I can't let it get to me..."

As much as the Lucario was determined to keep going, it would be impossible to move on from such a sight, impossible to push it to the back of his head.

"I'm...so sorry," the Braixen placed the palm of her paw against her forehead, "I'm so dumb...I should have known..."

"I don't hate you--if anything--I thank you for showing me that," the Lucario rose to his feet, turning around shuffling against the lock of the door before pushing it open, "because that means there's still more to figure out," he spoke those words before pacing away, leaving the Braixen inside of the room to her thoughts.

     Galant's POV

It's the second day without Sam. I didn't expect myself to ever think those words in this torturous mansion, but nonetheless I thought of them.

"I'm bored for once in my life," Grace whined loudly, her muzzle planted against a pillow. We were all in the living room, completely exhausted from the fun we had outside.

"Yeah...it feels like there's nothing else to do," I added, rubbing softly against my chin.

"I don't want to have too much fun, you know? Sam is coming back in a few days and...getting our hopes up for too long can actually cause despair," Loki heaved a worried sigh.

"Maybe we can...find a way out?" Grace's head pointed quizzically to the Zoroark.

"The Gengars will definitely stop that," I heard Sammy's voice call from the other side of the room, and upon looking, Leon followed suit, "there's no way Sam will just let us escape."

"You worked with her, didn't you? Don't you just know the exit or some shit?" Kanom groaned in annoyance, placing his webbed hand on his face to cover his eyes.

"Of course I do, but again, this place is littered with invisible Gengars to stop us," the Braixen frowned at the Toxicroak's statement.

"It isn't like we got nothin' to do," Sherwood waved a talon, "we've been waitin' for the time we're free and the second we get it you all don't like it?" He scoffed.

"It's not that," Rayne paced into the room before taking her seat against a nearby chair, "we want to leave this mansion overall, not stay to fool around and have sex."

"That doesn't sound too bad," Laker smirked widely at the Manectric, who only shook her head and heaved a sigh.

"Maybe when we all escape we can all be...friends?" Grace began, gently shifting around the pillow she rested against, "as much fun as I can have while Sam is gone...she's going to return and...make everything worse."

She had a good point. Nothing could be worse than having a good time and returning one day to see everything crumble down with your own eyes.

"Who says we're even leaving anyways?" Kanon chuckled, "I'm ready to stay here for the rest of my life at this point.

"Really?" Leon scoffed, "I can't stand anything inside of this place."

"I'm exhausted," Alice yawned from the other side of the room before pacing up the stairs, "I'll see you all tomorrow," the Ninetales huffed before disappearing inside of Loki's room.

"Anyone know why she...went into...Loki's room?" I rose a brow in pure confusion.

"Don't ask," Loki had already dismissed my question, causing Laker to snicker lightly.

"We know what's going on in there," the Weavile closed his eyes and snuggled up against the couch, "I'm also quite tired."

"Yeah, all this fighting has me completely exhausted," Rayne yawned and paced over to one of the couches. She laid down on the ground before pressing her back against it. Sherwood took a large stretched on queue, leaning back into his chair.

"Can't complain 'bout a good nap right about now," he huffed loudly. Loki rose off her chair and quietly paced into her room, closing the door behind her.

"You think they have kinky sex in there?" Laker wheezed in laughter, causing Rayne to groan in annoyance.

"Please go to bed, Laker," the Manectric hushed. A small wave of laughter around the room filled the air before silence wrapped around them. It only took about a half-hour for all the Pokemon in the room to fall asleep...

     Leon's POV

It was dark, quiet, yet active. I felt my body move--however very gently.

"Leon," I heard a feminine voice whisper to me. I rose my eyes slowly, my gaze locking onto the Braixen in front of me, "wake up...I...want to show you something."

"Hm? What happened?" I murmured back, slowly sitting up against the couch and rising to my feat promptly after. Sammy shook her head and paced away from me--she motioned to follow her. I nodded in response before trudging up and leaving the mansion from the front door. She soon closed the door behind us and faced me.

"I'm showing you because I trust you," she heaved a long, heavy sigh, "I think I've found a way out of this place." I felt my heart race due to her words.

"Really..? How? I thought the Gengars would stop anyone from trespassing," I inquired, causing the Braixen to shake her head.

"I hear strange noises near the exit but...there are no Gengars to be found," Sammy folded her arms, "I'm going to show you first, okay?" I nodded on queue at her words.

As happy as I am to leave this place...I've got a bad feeling about this. This is too good to be true--and knowing Sam--this area could be quite dangerous. As I walked silently through the grassy fields, I noticed something ahead. The very large glass and metal cage seemed to have a wall with a different shade of color.

"How did I not notice this earlier?" I tilted my head in confusion, causing the Braixen to shrug lightly.

"You were busy worrying about your life, I don't blame you for not realizing this," she softly uttered. It only took a second for her to place her palm against a specific part of the wall, causing a separate section to shift open like a door.

Total silence. As soon as we both made our way inside, the hallway itself was almost pitch black. There was a small, faint light through the metal-plated hallway--it's what kept me moving at this point. The light seemingly wasn't the outside world, yet it sure gave me hopes that it was. A small light bulb hung from the top of the roof, and a metal door stood in front of us. Sammy paused, her paw hovering over her mouth. He turned around and faced me, her face completely eased with fear. I felt her fear.

The sounds occurring inside of that room were something completely unknown--almost like Pokemon were doing construction with materials completely alien to me. I took a deep breath and paced towards the door.

I gently turned the knob and pushed forward, my gaze piercing through the darkness...

And the horrifying sight pierced back.
